cant seem to get this adb going on vista...am trying to get to root but adb just isnt happening, have installed all the correct drivers, the phone is in developer mode but in windows vista when i open command prompt and check adb theres no devices attached? I have checked in device manager and under usb root hub the phone isnt there, it is under portable devices as android phone and trying to update the usb drivers on there doesnt install saying that the current drivers are up to date. I can get into fastboot and the phone is picked up with the usb drivers from the sdk package.
Can anyone help on this? I have tried method 2 of getting to root http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=Magic_Rooting but the phone just hangs at the vodafone screen (i have to sut the phone down from the fastboot menu as adb doesnt work).
Any help would be appreciated, there was a small update on friday to the phone have they fixed everything or is it just an issue with vista?
Was trying to follow the instructions found here to flash the spl but I'm not sure what it means, I'm sure I'm nto just being thick....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529019
How to flash :
1. Download the appropriate recovery here, and rename it to update.zip.
2. Copy update.zip to the root of your SD-card
3. Switch the Magic to fastboot mode
4. $fastboot boot <moddedrecovery.img>
5. Apply the update
point 1 takes me to RAv1.0G.img, do i just force it to name as a zip file from file extension or physically zip it?
part 2 is fine if I understand part 1
part 3 I'm ok on
part 4, I'm taking it this is the spl file however its a zip package, do i unzip it and place both the hboot.img and the meta folder into the folder i am using for fastboot and adb? the instructions arent very cear for doing this, can anyone correct me if above is wrong?
thanks.
fixed now skipped a whole load of steps and its working lol
I tried looking around the forums to see if someone has had this problem before. Couldn't find something similar.
I had stock 4.0.3 installed and I saw today that 4.0.4 was being pushed out. Since 4.0.3 wasn't a stock build I tried to downgrade to 2.3.6 in order to keep everything stock. I rooted the phone, installed the ROM Manager and flashed 2.3.6 through Clockworkmod Recovery. Everything went smoothly but when I powered on the phone force quit messages kept popping up and I can't get past the welcome screen. When I go into Fastboot mode and try to go in Recovery mode it just shows the Android symbol and a warning sign. I tried flashing a recovery .zip file I found online through fastboot but couldn't manage to do it (I'm on Mac OSX)
Can someone please help me? I'm completely desperate and wouldn't care about erasing everything (I think I already did, actually).
Thanks in advance.
flash a recovery.img
that multiple fc happened to me when i installed a i9023 rom on my i9020a.
unzip the recovery.zip and flash the .img file through fastboot and make sure you have the right rom for your model
Thank man, but that's what I tried to do. I got confused and wrote that it was a .zip up there. I'm really confused and couldn't flash the .img. Could you walk me through it? or point me to a thread that shows me how to do it?
im not sure how a mac is set up, i can walk you through flashing it on windows through command prompt ...
Please do that. I guess I can try to work it out.
Thanks
http://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-root/how-to-root-nexus-s-or-nexus-s-4g-on-ics-or-gingerbread/
memorize that lol it saved me.
you can skip the root part, but it explains how to set up the pc so it'll read the nexus with the correct drivers and whatnot, and what commands to run to flash the recovery. then when youre in the recovery, mount as usb, copy over 2.3.6 (the right one!) and install from zip.
I just tried that. I get this message: "error: cannot load 'twrp-crespo-2.0.0RC0.img'" I don't know what to do!
Can you get into boot loader mode?
Have you tried to use Odin?

Did you unlock your bootloader?
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
I ****ed up my phone today I did full wipe (formatted internal storage too, so i can't flash any rom in recovery because there is nothing) and now i've been searching hours someone who can help me? In TWRP i can't mount anything to my pc (i do not know why?) AND adb says me "devices not found" or something like that so can't push any zip-file to my phone via adb sideload. Is there any way to reapir my phone? can someone help me? Thanks alot!
There was a bug in a bunch of recent twrp releases that causes adb to not work in recovery. Patched versions have been made, try finding one for your device.
Added:
If you can't find a patched version, flash cwm or philz recovery with fastboot, adb is working on both of those. You just need a rrcovery image and do
"fastboot flash recovery <recovery-file>.img"
In fastboot mode.
let's try it out!

See the edit to my first response. Fastboot is done in fastboot mode, not recovery, so you should be good. You just need the basic .img file of cwm or philz recovery.
If you are on win 7 try this:
http://adbdriver.com/downloads/
(Adb driver installer)
Run it when you turn adb sideload on in G2 and connect it to PC.
If it fails you still can go buy somewhere USB OTG cable (few bucks) and flash ROM from usb stick like me.
It appears that accessing fastboot pn the lg g2 is not so simple. Sorta like samsung phone deal, where a manufacturer download is used instead. From what I gather, recovery might need to be wiped to access fastboot, which you could do from terminal in twrp, but thats risky. Apparently, a lot of people have gotten stuck in fastboot mode. Best bet would be to reflash stock firmware through lg download mode. Also see this thread for a method to return to stock firmware:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
Once you are back to stock, just reroot and flash revovery, etc.
downloadmode should still work. go back to any kdz for your version
also source and versions post next time
, operable program or batch file.
(update: I'm trying to find a tegra note root guide but I think I'm going to die of old age before I find one that explains the actual steps for 1. finding the tegra note windows drivers 2. how to install them every step explained 3. every step explained how to root this tablet oh god why did I not buy a windows tablet this time ok)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586432
I tried towelroot but it doesn't do anything after 15 seconds.
You either need to install Fastboot and ADB look in dev are for links or your not in the directory where the adb and fastboot executables are.
This is why your getting this error. Also i have tried towelroot and it froze my tegranote right out i have to reflash the device again to get it working or more over just the /System partition.
If you have gone though the OTA updates and have hit past 4.3 then you can simply use the SuperTool to restore your tablet which has everything in there for you including the fastboot and adb.
Just make sure you wasn't on 4.2.2 before using this methord.
Also you haven't said which brand of tablet you have either.
By looks of the link you posted your after installing root via either CWM or TWRP (I suggest using TWRP!)
if thats the case.
Install fastboot and adb files some where and also the recovery image of choice then do the fastboot flash recovery (name of recovery .img file ) then download the SuperSU zip and flash that in your chosen recovery you will then be rooted!.
kingroot v3.5 or older
If you want to root without PC on TN7 use kingroot and if you having trouble installing fastboot send me an email
*update*
So now I can't access recovery nor fastboot. Any ideas how to fix that?
*original post*
So, I was dicking around with this zenfone 5 aaaaand I managed to get it stuck in bootloop. Being the epitome of calmness I panicked and screwed up more. Anyway, here's the brass tacks.
The phone is bricked, I can still access droidboot but that's it. I can flash fastboot.img and recovery.img, but can't find device when trying to adb sideload the rom, because I didn't install the adb drivers earlier. The way I see it, I can't flash new roms till I somehow magically able to install adb drivers without being able to boot into the phone and turn on usb debugging.
So, I need help. Is there some way I can still somehow shove adb drivers into this?

After a bit of googling, I found out that TWRP has mount feature and I flashed that through fastboot. And then I mounted the phone and managed to install adb driver that way. Then to install the rom I got from asus site, I flashed the fastboot and recovery image that corresponds to the rom, aaaaaaaaaand now I lost droidboot for some reason. Every attempt to boot goes to recovery, so I can't adb sideload anything now. But I got recovery, so yay?
I forgot the question. How do I proceed from this? (My current condition= Nothing is working except recovery)

Yeah I did that. It's just that, now it's stuck at "Asus, in search of incredible". No droidboot, no recovery.
