personally...$60 is too much for that...so glad i bought it when the seller didn't realize that white was special for only $30

looks gorgeous. But it says these digitizer replacements are OEM? i didnt know sammy made the front bezel in white!

Is particularly hard to replace the digitizer?

It takes some time...you need a heat gun...or hairdryer...but that takes forever
You have to use the right tools otherwise you might crack the case
Youtube has some videos too.
Yes its OEM...its released in some countries...just not the US

Damn thats one sweet looking tab. I want to get this done to mine but I am scared to do it because I don't want to break my tab and I know I will most likely do that.

That is awesome! I'd like to do it but I can't find that video for the life of me on Youtube. The only ones stop before taking the digitizer off the LCD. Can you post a link to the teardown you used?

Here's a video on youtube...I think it's the only one right now showing the actual process of replacing the digitizer. Not sure if it's necessary to remove any of the components like the guy does in the video...I guess he's just being careful.

Yep...all oem stuff do

Wow, this has me tempted to convert my grey tab to all white using parts. Didn't even think about doing that. Would love to have my Tab match my white E4GT.

Is there any confirmation that the "OEM" white ones on eBay are Gorilla Glass. I believe the production GT10's are supposed to be.
I only ask because my IO Galaxy Tab has a nasty scratch. I wasn't sure if it wasn't necessarily Gorilla Glass because of it's preproduction status or if the Glass on the GT10 is inherently soft. I know Corning lists the device on its list of Samsung devices although who knows how OEM the eBay glass really is.

I can't state for sure but pat of me says who cares. I've written gorilla glass off as marketing hype. I've had my White Epic 4G Touch since launch day and I already have several small but noticeable in the right light/angle scratches on my supposed Gorilla Glass digitizer. I have a case on my phone and take as best of care of it as I can. I've always passed on screen protectors on most glass displays but this is the second device I've had now where typical in and out of jeans pocket use has resulted in scratches on my digitizer.
I've started to think Gorilla Glass helps in drop and impact scenarios but not really in the scratch department.
Sorry if my post comes off as a bit of a rant...I'm just a tad frustrated by said scratches.

I bought mine for £5 from a shop called chitterchatter where I bought my phone from. Mine was by a company called 'Konect' but it's probably the same case sent out to different sellers. You can get it dirt cheap here on ebay

That is just the standard S-Line Case churned out from China and available all over the web at varying prices. I can't believe some companies get away selling these at such prices online, the margins are ridiculous. I got mine for £2.50 on eBay and it must be said, it is an awesome case which I'd recommend it to any SGS2 user. Previously purchased a few other TPU cases and none of them compare to the S-Line (Flexishield/Super Case/Sleekcase or whatever).

Nope, i just thought it offers much better protection than the other cases that don't cover the screen. And being a former HTC Touch HD user i was used to a much thicker phone design, almost dropped the sammy couple of times before buying the case, cause i wasn't used to such a thin phone.
Yea I agree without the case, it is a very slippery bugger. With the case, it just manages to stay in your hands.

Well the front is unprotected so the chrome bezel might get scratched. But the back is fully protected. I've also been using the sae case for my N8 for months and it hasnt got any scratches on it.
But the best thing is that its very light and quite thin. Also looks great on the phone.
So I'd say for scratches it's pretty good. But for impacts, I'd suggest the tough case or some silicon/flexihield case.

Gorilla Glass My Arse

Dropped my phone about 3 ft face first onto the floor and screen is cracked from the bottom right corner to about half way.
Anyone know where I can get a really good TPU case that is pretty thin?

Topic on this already...
1. It's a scratch resistant, not drop proof.
2. Laws of physics. The center of gravity is focused on the front for these phones since they're so light and thin. Yes it's more likely to fall on it's front like a bowling ball on a stick thrown up.
3. Counter balance this with a case in the back.
4. Sucks to be you.
5. Use the search button next time.

While these guys are being harsh, there is some truth.
gorilla glass is meant to be excellent against scratches, not breaking. That it cracked is not one of its features.

Look on eBay then
If you want something that is fall resistant buy a Nokia Lumia when having one of those things you should worry about your feet that your phone. Of course Samsung S3 is a delicate creature that has to be tendered with great care. There many fall resistant cases but to be honest the best protection is safety. I don't see how anyone would like to have a bulk that is twice the normal phone. A normal barely there casemate and a screen protector would do well for everyday usage. Thought there was another from case mate again that included a hell lot of protection. It had two parts, one rubber and the other a normal tough case but really that made the phone look like a satellite phone.
Alright sorry I thought it was break proof according to the video it looked like it. Also, it's not a big deal I still have 14 days to get warranty it was my fault and I can admit it, no need to be so rude about how it's my fault.
As for videos, I don't read much into them because those are mostly staged and does not reflect what really happens.
I remember watching a Gorilla Glass 2 video on youtube showing no scratches on one of the new Sony phones; I just laughed because they person was scratching with razor blades and hitting with a hammer; showing no damage. The only problem with that is the camera does not pick up the micro scratches which one can see with the eye (which the user shows it with no scratches in the video). Eventually the video poster did crack the glass after repeatedly hitting with a hammer.
There was also another video of the same phone being dropped in a big puddle of water and also it being ran over with a jeep...! Perfectly intact ha ha!
I have the flip cover and I drop my phone about 4 feet got a little scratch on the back 'maybe I'm lucky? but I think it was my case?

Custom Painted Trim

I was inspired by a thread to paint my phone in some way. So I pulled apart one of my spare phones and stole its keyboard trim piece, it looks really good painted, going to let it dry at least 24 hours before I install it.
I used red duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint.

it is pretty easy to take apart, when you get into the more internal screws, make sure you get a good grip on the screw with the driver and use good downforce.

Explain the reason samsung uses glossy plastic instead of matte like on the S2

Glossy plastic picks up a ton of fingerprint smudges and ends up looking like #%&! real quick
Seems like a better choice would be a matte version like on the S2 seen here:

Because Samsung is clueless when it comes to aesthetics. Not only does matte hide fingerprints but it just looks so much better as well.

Glossy Plastic looks more classier than matte. But when you touch it doesn't feel so great.
I think they should start using aluminium like Apple and HTC.
who cares buy a case
anyone who has this phone WITHOUT a case is silly, protecting an extremely expensive (in most countries) piece of technology from harm is more important than what colour it is, what its made out of.
as far as anyone should be aware, the screen quality should be all that matters, since its all that should be poking through the case you have over your phone to protect it from damage.
they are helping CSI so they can easily get your fingerprints out of the phone
coz it looks great. simple buy a case

How can it look great when you put a case over it. The guy asked for example why is the sky blue and your telling that train has steel wheels. Totally out if theme.
Samsung has a lack of design and looks when you compare it with the others. Samsung and Lg build bricks from plastics not worth a [email protected]& . Got this one from work I think I'll buy htc for private use.

i'm not complaining on what they did,
it's hyperglazed polycarbonate plastic, same material as bulletproof glass
They put a pattern on the plastic so the fingerprints don't stand out. You can only see them when looking at an angle.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
Matt, gloss or metal wouldn't make a difference to me, as i always put my £500+ smartphone in a case for the simple reason of protection, last thing i want to happen to my phone is for it to get scratched up or break, I even go as far to stick it in a pouch aswell with the case on when it's in my pocket at work for that extra bit more protection, so when it comes to selling it on my phone as good as the day i bought it.

So why did you buy it if you don't like it ?
And btw s4 with its plastics cost more to make than iphone 5 with all its aluminium.
Why should I hide a beautiful phone in a case? Would you do the same with a lamborghini cause its so expensiv?
Question answered itself in case of the S4: Nothing beautiful to hide.

Go back to hide your "beautiful" aluminum phone with a case like all the other users here in XDA do (more than 130 pages):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171713
And this is only one thread of many...
^Haha yeah. I'd love to know the percentage of the "beautiful" phone owners who'd not put a case on their phones. Good luck with that.
Either way - I'd love to know what OP asked too, seriously. I mean sure, it might be a moot point etc - but why? Is glossy plastic easy to manufacture than matte?
I like samsungs design and use a case only if im at work,if something goes nuts i repair it by myself.
I had every S series galaxy since the first one and the only issue which i had was a defect usb port because of water damage.
I bought a new port and repaired it by myself.

I've never used a case with any of my smartphones and never had a problem ... Won't use a case with the SGS4 either. It's big enough as it is.
But I have to agree, the backcover of the SGS2 is much better. I guess Samsung went with the glossy one, because too many people complained about the cheap look of SGS2's backcover. That happends when function follows form ... too bad.

I don't know but I'm pretty weary . and also relieved I got a screen protector on mine. After less than one day of being extremely careful I noticed 2 very very minor light scratches. I wouldn't have noticed them but when I was cleaning the screen with the microfiber they give you with the Spigen screen protectors I noticed them... like I said very small but they were scratches nonetheless. I had a optimus g pro that seemed to scrape up way easier than my note2 and previous devices.. or I may have just been really unlucky. If these have gorilla glass then I guess its exactly the same and it's my fault.. or if there's something different they may be weaker.

lol why? screenprotector is still best. As a single grain of sand can scratch all versions the same

You can ask http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/ how come they produce something that is not useful or needed and yet manage to sell it and survive on market?
If it doesn't matter why does it exist. Well you can call it delusion, but to me and millions of consumers it makes a difference
it exists so regular and less and less stuff can scratch it and to make it stronger. its pretty good at that. Your logicis flawed into thinking I said it was useless. Its not...
However a grain of sand can have a much higher hardness and thus scratch it.
No need pretending its invincible if it is not. Which is why I suggest get a screenprotector anyway

I totally agree. It's like having a vasectomy and thinking the Dr's expert opinion will protect you 100%.
I've owned all versions of gorilla glass(have several teen agers) and they all all scratch easily. Unless you never expose your phone to the inside of your pocket or the real world, you need a screen protector. IMO
My Gnex was case less, screen protector less and I carried it around in my pocket in West Texas for 2 years. West Texas blows hard silicone sand- and other bad stuff all the time. Its one of the worst weather places in the world! I also let my 3 year old son play with it and watch Thomas the train when he would get bored at Dr. office etc. I have a huge 'janitor would be proud' set of keys that I kept in my pocket with my phone. Ive drop kicked it 2 times on accident getting out of a deer stand...

Needless I'll post some pictures of it with no noticeable scratches and only fine scratches that would annoy MONK and OCD people, but not a sane normal person. Maybe I'm lucky- but I also had an HTC incredible who fared the same over the same amount of time.
Point? IDK- maybe the curved screen made it less scratch prone? I did notice 2 small very fine scratches that were on my G2 when I placed the screen protector on it. I am currently rocking the Folio case- but I've got 2 coming in the mail, to try out a TPU and a knock off otterbox. I think that in my experience the glass on my phones have been pretty tough, and I didn't notice or care about the little scratches I would get. I have a feeling a lot of people need to get some fluvoxamine and chill...
lol thats like free facial scrubs daily nice
4th day of my g2 and i havent installed covers or screen protector.. still scratchless..
Edit: i saw a 1 hairline scratch today...
Im getting a screen protector tommorrow...
