Good Day, galaxy users from Luxembourg. I'm starting this topic because I'm using latest cm7 build and I had a lot of troubles with my baseband and I didn't find a post from LU, so I tested nearly everything
My network provider is Tango and I flashed baseband XXJVK. I tested about 10 diffrent basebands and network reception is exelent
Btw use latest CM7 all day ... works just fine

Hey there,
I've been using the leaked GB JVK 2.3.3 since it came out and it's been excellent, although I had to reflash the JVK modem a second time separately as I had problems with the GPS not getting any satellite locks. Not sure why doing the modem twice would fix it, but it did.
After that GB been excellent and even better now that I have the battery from the SGS Armani that is 1650mah instead of the standard 1500mah. I was getting to about 12-13hrs before getting the battery low alerts on a typical day, now I've been at around 15hrs and still have around 25% left
Hello,
After updating to gb I never notice any special problem with tango,
can you explain the trouble you have ?
Good day,
Laurent.
Well I had problems espacially while changing the network from Tango to some foreign provider like T-Online...
I also had some trouble after a reboot of my phone... I had network connection but I couldn't call...
I had some trouble that the network just said "unavailable" but I could answer calls but I couldn't call someone....
very strange... now everything's working just fine
Hi,
I have a weird problem on my Defy+ (Quarkx 0828, kernel 2.6.32.9-ge281b6e). Provider KPN (Netherlands)
This build is working fine except for one thing.
When I am at my office location I loose the ability to receive phone calls and make phone calls after about an hour.
On the home screen it looks like there is still coverage but no calls possible.
I'm pretty sure that it has to do something with the indoor GSM transmitters we have in the building. They are GSM/GPRS only and not really new. Of course many other Android users are using these indoor GSM transmitters without a problem for years.
On other locations I do not have this behavior.
When I was at stock Android 2.3.6 on the Defy+ there was no problem at this location.
The indoor transmitters are managed by my provider (KPN) to provide a better coverage in this building. Don't know brand/type of the indoor equipment but do know they are GSM/GPRS only (dated equipment).
The circumvention I use is to set my Defy+ to 2G only and the problem is not there anymore (I gain battery life :good: but need to switch to 3g manually when away from the building to get the speed back).
I'm using baseband Central europe 3.4.2-145.
I tried a few others but got the same results:
3.4.x does not work at all for me
2.5.1 Same result, after a while no phone calls
2.3.4 Same result, after a while no phone calls
France 3.4.1-164-5 Same result, after a while no phone calls
France 3.4.2-164- after restart the phone goes to flight mode. After a while no phone calls.
What can I do to get more information about what is happening to pinpoint this problem?
Is there specific logging which I can turn on?
Is there a specific baseband which can handle frequent switches between 2G/3G better?
Other suggestions?
Thanks!
Hade you tried basebandswitcher, try an older baseband like 2.34. 2g/3g works ok for me now.

Thanks Meares.
Unfortunately this baseband does not solve it.
I will test the other basebands (takes a while, can only do it at work where the indoor antenna's are at non-busy hours).
Will install the latest Quarks rom when it is not at the experimental level. Need my phone for work.
Installed Quarx 0912 CM10 and the behavior is different from CM10 0828.
At work with the 2G indoor GSM coverage with my Defy+ set to 3G the phone reboots after a while (instead of just stopping to receive calls or able to make calls). After reboot a have to re-enter my sim pin code (in the past I had reboots which skipped entering the pin-code) so there are different kinds of reboots.
With 0912 CM10 set to 2G there are no reboots and everything is stable with CM10 0912.
The behavior is different from CM10 0828 but did not find anything related to 2G/3G communication in the change log.
I understand this is an exotic problem and 'document' it here in case someone else has similar experience. Do not really expect a solution as you need the be at this specific location to experience it.
Two fellow workers with a Defy+ but with stock firmware never have 3G problems (they are waiting for me to solve it first before the want CM10....)
Today also a spontaneous reboot while driving in the car while using Sygic 12.1.2. Phone was set to 2G/3G.
Thanks

Hi, It looks like the problem I have and which is location dependent but for me 2G works better than 3G. It seems that the Defy or CM10 is not working good in circumstances were it switches from one network technique to another. Reboots I have:
Reboot after switching automatically Wifi on with Easy Profiles. Effectively it then shuts down 2G/3G because Wifi is switched on.
At my work where we have indoor coverage with 2G antenna's. Much less reboots there if I put the phone on 2G only.
Some reboots I can't explain
I log my reboots with reboot logger from the play store. Pictures in Play store are not English but app is in English. Handy app!
I did play with several basebands but in the end the default baseband for my location worked best (3.4.2-145 Central Europe). More frequent reboots with others or the went info flightmode spontaneous.
No solution but you could play with the following settings:
Settings - In Wireless & Networks: More - Mobile neworks:
National data roaming
GSM//UMTS Network preference
Use only 2G networks
I did not find a combination which ends rebooting once in a while (a little less than one time a day on average).

[Q] DefyPlus Root successful(?) 2g-GPRS messed up-Please Help
@Mods: If this thread is not placed appropriately kind move/merge as appropriate. I did try to search for this peculiar problem but was not successful. Thank you.
Hello everyone,
Today I pulled the trigger and rooted my Defy Plus inspite of all the misgivings I had about my ability to carry it off successfully. And in hindsight my misgivings seem to be very justified.
The details of my device are:
Build # 4.5.1-134_DFP-231 & Android ver 2.3.6
SBF : 45.0.2310.MB526.AsiaRetail.en.03
The rooting guide I followed was as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542956
Recommended SBF's were downloaded and the method outlined followed
The long and short of it is:
*Most likely the rooting has been successful - How do I know? Well I installed a screenshot application from Google which needs a rooted device and it said my device is rooted and it worked successfully.
* The problem? The problem is, my primary objective to root the phone was to enable some call recording app or the other to work and if that did not work go for WIUI GB or ICS custom ROM which if I understand correctly is configured to allow call recording. My data usage is minimal at best restricted to some emails , work related browsing when I am away from my office. For this I use a 2g connection and that suffices. However after the rooting if the network is set for 2g the device does not list my service provider, even if I do a manual search for service provider. The very same phone works flawlessly if I opt for automatic network selection and it defaults to 3g which I do not want due to cost implications.
Now is there a way to resolve this issue without rooting a custom rom? Or do I need to flash a custom Rom that to extricate myself from this mess? Or do I need to go back to factory settings using SBF the device is shipped with?
Thanks in advance for any help
Success - Baseband reset for India
I was facing the same issue , after rooting my phone as indicated in my earlier post.
Subsequent to that I installed WIUI Rom - the stable version - from here, and used the inbuilt Baseband utility to reset baseband for India. Issue resolved.
Hello
I've been using Quarx's CM10 for the last 3 months, and up until a month ago it was working fine. Then suddenly, after putting it on flight mode for a trip, my 3g has stopped working reliably. It hasn't completely stopped working. Sometimes it works for a bit but will then just completely drop out again. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the RIL bug but I don't seem to be getting any reboots so I don't think its this, and GPRS (voice calling, text messages) all works fine. WiFi also works perfectly.
I have recently moved to WIUI GB as I thought maybe there was something up with Jelly Bean. Anyway, exactly the same issue is presenting on this rom as well.
I'm on Vodafone Australia, using the Telstra Baseband (EPU93_U_00.0.00) from the baseband switcher.
Android Version: 2.3.7
Kernel version: [email protected] #1
Build: MIUI-3.1.27
Bootloader 7
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
So I've checked a few things. It's not the SIM card as I had it swapped by my service provider and the same problem persists.
Also, I put my sisters Optus sim in and it seemed to work no problems. Just an odd thing I picked up, but when my SIM is in the phone the Data symbol is always on "H", whereas hers showed "3G" unless data was actually being used and then it showed the "H".
Anyone got any ideas??
I own a Verizon Motorola Razr M, bought in ebay to an US seller. I am in Spain and I use Movistar SIM card
The phone came with stock JB 4.1.2, and therefore I could not unlock the bootloader.
I started using it, but it had a problem that I am not been able to solve so far: after some hours of use, with no problems with GSM and data connections, it suddenly looses both connections, although the signals on the status bar still appear. I take care that signals have gone when I take the phone to make a call or surf the web.
I have tried the following procedures:
Change the net settings to GSM/UMTS
I rooted the phone with motochopper 1.1.2 exploit
I installed Safestrap 3.12 in order to be able to install other available locked compatible roms.
I tried these roms, following this thread here in XDA: Clean ROM 1.0. Clean ROM 1.1, Barebone New Base, Stock Deodexed.SDswap-Locked & UnLocked BLs-xt907-9.8.1Q-94-1, but no luck. This last one uses the last radio, but no way.
I also installed the [PATCH][GUIDE] Patch to fully enable GSM on Verizon CDMA Android phones. I could only install it on Clean ROM 1.1 however. It has been impossible to install it on the other ROMS. In any case, no luck again with the patch installed. Here I had a big problem because as I still had these problems, I got into *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer, and touched the band selection option: suddenly, the net showed no signal more and I was unable to make it work again: I finally solved this by installing the stock firmware from here with RSD lite.
No way. I still have this problem and I can not use the phone. I have also tried with another SIM card, but the problem remains. It is a shame because when the connection works, the phone runs very well.
Any help would be very appreciated

The problem also seems to become worse with the use of the phone: at the beginning, coming from a factory reset, It can last some hours before the problem occurs. But since it happens from the first time, it happens more and more frequently and the phone can not be used any more. It seems that there could be a software issue.
Another try disabling fast dormancy
I´ve just disabled fast dormancy, because my operator Movistar apparently does not use this technology.
For this, I have modified 3 lines from build.prop system file, as indicated in another site.
The 3 lines are:
ro.mot.ds.fastdormancy.disable=true
telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=0
ro.telephony.default_network=3
Having fast dormancy enabled when your operator does not support it, seems to drain battery, and could cause other problems. That´s why I´ve done this. I have used root explorer apk from Google store, it is free and it automatically creates a backup of build.prop file when you modify it.
I keep the fingers crossed, let´s see what happens.
Fast dormancy: yes but...
After some days using the phone with fast dormancy disabled (for this, I also added this line to build.prop: ro.ril.fast.dormancy.rule=0 ; I read this for ICS Roms, I do not know if this command is also valid for JB, any comment will be welcome), I still get some cuts (less I would say), but at least the phone tries to restart the connections. For this, I have also installed the apk from Google Play called 3g reconnect.
In any case, any comment would be appreciated.
Issue not solved
I still get data and voice disconnections when I use GSM/UMTS or only UMTS modes. They occur ransomly, and they also occur as soon as I use a WIFI connection. I can only use the phone on GSM only mode, which is frustrating.
Any advise?

Hello,
I have tried both: using *#*#4636#*#* or using the usual phone settings. Sometimes I have also checked that the changes made with the usual settings appeared also dialing *#*#4636#*#*.
Yesterday evening, I tried selecting global mode instead of GSM/UMTS and it seemed to work for some hours, but today morming, the problem occured again. So far, the unique way I have found to avoid connection cuts off is using GSM ONLY mode. I have to say that I have tried with 2 different SIM cards but the result is identical.

Did you select the 3 dot menu & mess with the "band" settings?

I did that once, and all the signals disappeared. I restored the phone with RSD Lite, that appeared to be the unique way to have again signals working. Now I do not even dare touching these 3 dots.

What booby a trap? How many step into!
I don´t know if I am understanding you. I did that once because I did not know what else should I do to solve the problem. I saw that there was the possibility to choose theoritically between US bands and Cellular, and I entered in that menu. It is not so stupid to try that if you have already tried 100 other ways.
In any case, anybody has an idea about how to solve this problem? I´m sure I am not the unique person having this issue with this phone.

You are saying the problem is now still there. Yet the radio partition is fixed. Please restate what has been fixed with the rsd flash & what remains unfixed.
Well I think I have fixed and solved the problem: I initially copied the APN settings I had with my previous HTC Sensation, because the phone operator was the same (MOVISTAR), the SIM card too, and I have not moved. In these APN settings, the proxy was "undefined" as well as the proxy gate. I wonder if the radio stucks looking for a proxy each time or whatever. I tried yesterday with completely different APN settings, with a concrete Proxy and a gate... and now I have not had any issue in the past 24 hours. I will still wait a couple of days to see if that was finally the reason.
Which in any case would be silly, because I just applied what was working OK with my sensation, but...
New APN settings: let´s see

After several days, the problem is still there. After setting new values in APN, it happens less often, but it still happens. I have to switch to GSM only mode.
2 days ago, I was surfing the net at quite high speed with no interruptions, for half an hour. I then shutted off the screen, on again some seconds later, and the connection was blocked, I had to restart the phone. It has to be a software issue.
I finally sold the phone
After concluding that I could never get rid of this problem, I sold the phone, informing that he would have to use mainly GSM only connection. Great phone otherwise, but with this issue.
This sounds like a Baseband Issue.
Europe I have found baseband:
sm_bp_101031.027.32.81P to be the most stable so far, with no H+ support though.
But most Carriers in Europe don't have H+ or LTE.
That baseband is part of build 9.8.1Q-66
Which can be all downloaded here:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=8
The baseband from 98.16.1 had H+ support in Europe but connections dropped like crazy.
Same with 98.12.4, we remedied that with Aussie Radio at the time.
Maybe this may help some International users with Data and GSM Loss

I'm on 9.8.1Q-94-1(98.30.1.XT907.Verizon.en.US) and wanna use it in Germany. any experiences with the radio compared to the suggested one. Or is there another way to boost the performance of the razr m? Compared to my razr I the signal and data quality is really poor...
edit: my baseband-version is: SM_BP_101032.021.32.80P
edit2: ok... now i've flashed several basebands... and the behaviour of the phone is always the same... with the australian baseband of xt905 it wasn't possible to get an hspa-connection. dunno if its enough just to flash the radio-fw?!?!?
so is there an other way to get more stability in my region? i tried to flash the radio from razr hd retail germany. but i think the razr m don't like it when I fool around. actually I love the mobile, so i don't want to make it angry... your suggestions are very much appreciated...
