Well, I did it. Ported my number to T-Mobile. Poorer signal in some places, but I get consistent 4Mbps at my desk at work.
So.... I'm going to pretty much retire from maintaining this OP.
If someone wants to start a new thread with a similar format, go for it. If not I'm willing to come in here and try to do a quick update once in a while. It's not like things are moving as fast as they used to anyway, and the appspot changelog is great for displaying what is going on.

With HDMI out there are some cool possibilites for the Evo. One of the best examples is in a thread started by Lokifish Mars: Use your Evo as a Desktop PC
There are tons of great theme engine themes. Many on the market and some only available on XDA. But since I'm a self serving biased jerk who unfairly looks out for his friends, I've got to mention the Sculpted theme from Shift. I loved Sculpted on CM6, but the version he created for CM7 is incredible, and all you have to do is grab it from the market, and then choose it in Theme Chooser.
Everyone's favorite something-goat-something-Shift-hater Karadorde dropped a little ray of nightly flashing sunshine in our lives. It's a recovery flashable script similar to Calkin's flash all that just flashes cache and dalvik for those times you've gotta have your nightly fix, but don't feel like setting everything up again. Check out his thread for instructions, and download the script there or here: nightly wipe zip
rstuckmaier has basically been doing my job for me recently, and created a thread just for CM7 fixes, tweaks, and work-arounds.
WiMax support is built into CyanogenMod 7. HDMI mirroring is supported in the kernel, but you will need an app to turn on mirroring. You can grab HDMwIn from the market. After trying it out, please support further TeamWIN projects by buying the donate version.

Please bear in mind this is a nightly build, meant to be a testing ground for developers, and there may even be times the new nightly won't work at all. This is a common way of working in open source software. Most of the problems you are encountering the developers are already aware of. With that said, most of the nightly builds has been very solid and stable for many people here, and several of us that are used to development software are using it as a daily driver. Just realize that is not the intention of nightly builds.
[HIGHLIGHT]CM6 features not available & Bugs[/HIGHLIGHT]
Camera does not have touch to focus and some other features from CM6
Bluetooth Mouse cursor - BT mouse will connect, but acts more like a trackball. See the Use your Evo as a Desktop PC thread for a patch.
No 720p video recording
GPS often will not lock. Cyanogen said he is working on a fix for a point release. Basically the non-open source HTC drivers were used in CM6, but for CM7 they are using the open source reference drivers from the chip manufacturer. Something is strange or maybe even buggy about the Evo hardware. The good news is there is a workaround that has worked for most people.
Note - this is pasted from rstuckmaier's excellent tips thread
Make a Nandroid of your current CM7 setup.
Boot into recovery and perform a full wipe (or use Calkulin Format ALL zip)
Flash any Sense ROM
Open the Market and download MSL Reader, write down MSL.
Open Dialer/Phone and type ##4772579# (##GPSCLRX#)
When it asks you for a password type in your MSL
Reboot phone
BE OUTSIDE
Turn on GPS and open Maps, allow it to fully lock your location (may take a few minutes, do not just wait for initial lock).
Leave GPS on
Turn off phone, reboot into recovery.
Nandroid restore your CM7 backup
[HIGHLIGHT]Installation Info[/HIGHLIGHT]
You must be fully rooted (including NAND rooted)

After flashing the main part of CM, you will probably want to flash the Google Apps Add-On, which adds the Market and allows you to download things like GMail, Goggles, Voice Search, and Maps. Gapps is available here: http://goo-inside.me/google-apps/
There are now only two versions of GApps, one for Tegra CPUs and one for non. For the Evo you want the standard version without Tegra support
GApps changed for CM7 and only has the basics for market access. When you first log in you will be given a screen of checkboxes to download the apps you want. You can also add them manually later from the market.
DrMacinyasha's goo-inside.me is the official source for GApps, and also mirrors most of the other content:

Just a heads up, I've been keeping my own mirror of all of the CM stuff for EVO. Useful for those who want the gapps updates but don't have an account on the CM forums, etc., and also has all of the Snap kernel files mirrored:

[HIGHLIGHT]What features are included[/HIGHLIGHT]
Full AOSP
Running 2.6.37 Linux kernel
Android OS 2.3.3 (Gingerbread)
More standard Bluetooth stack. HTC uses a funky proprietary bluetooth implementation. Cyanogen has replaced this with a more common one, so the phone now supports HID (Mice & Keyboards) and the Wiimote app in the store.
Tons of Cyanogen Mod tweaks and tools, including but not limited to:
Updated music app with extra options and lockscreen controls
kernel speed tweaks
Notification Drop down power control
CyanogenMod Settings integrated into settings menu
DSP settings
T-Mobile theme engine
Torch flashlight uses camera flash, includes widget
Additional settings and tweaks for Contacts, Dialer, and MMS (maybe more)
[HIGHLIGHT]FAQ[/HIGHLIGHT]Q. When the new nightly comes out can I just download and flash over the top of the install?
A. Because these are development nightlies they are not guaranteed to work in this way. In many cases this may work fine, but even if it does it may not implement a new feature or fix. For example the MMS fix would not show up unless you wiped, or deleted a specific directory. However, this usually works ok.
Q. What has changed in the newest nightly build?
A. For me the easiest thing has been to follow the CM Source twitter feed. Pretty much any change that doesn't mention another device specifically will show up on the nightly.
Look here for Cyanogen's changes: http://github.com/cyanogen
and here for CyanogenMod in general: http://github.com/CyanogenMod
Q. Flash isn't working
A. Go to the market, search for "Flash Player" and install.
Q. I don't have a Market icon or any other google apps
A. You didn't flash gapps or flashed the wrong one
Q. Rom Manager won't let me download the nightly
A. Purchase the premium version from the Market
Q. Why is the launcher slow?
A. It isn't really, but the defaults used on ADW make it feel sluggish. Try some of the settings from this post by midri
Q. How can I update PRL?
A. There currently is not a way to do it in Cyanogen Mod. You will need to restore a nandroid backup of a Sense ROM (you did make one, right?), update the PRL, then Nandroid back to CM6.
Q. What times are the nightly builds? And what time in my timezone?
A. To my understanding, the bot begins building at Midnight UTC which is 8:00pm EST. They finish around 30 mins later. You can always check this link and verify that the mod date is the next day (for us in the U.S.) In otherwords, It's currently 10:50pm EST on 7/10 and the mod date on the zip file is 2010-Jul-11 00:35:56 so I know it has been built:
http://mirror.kanged.net/cm/nightly/supersonic/
Q. Rom Manager says there are no updates
A. Since these are nightly builds and not releases, the filename stays the same and Rom Manager knows you have a rom named that already. If you want to assure you have the latest, clear your download cache and re-download.
Q. Can I install the Sense dialer/music player/widgets/etc. ?
A. By default no. Sense widgets only work with the Rosie launcher. Most of the other stuff it tightly bound to the framework, which is why many of the AOSP applications can not be easily installed on a Sense ROM.
Q. Is there any way to run the stock android 2.3 launcher instead of ADW?
A. Search the market for "gingerbread launcher." There are several available for free.
Q. My notification toggles keep disappearing! Where did they go?
A. Often changing themes will cause this. Just grab the Notification Restart app in the market. It basically just kills the notification bar so it resets.
Please feel free to add any that I missed, but hopefully we don't get repeats of the same answered questions or known bugs. I hope this makes things easier for everyone to know what's going on.
Thanks again for your hard work, Cyanogen, Toast, #teamwin, and all of the CyanogenMod Team!
Thanks for the thread!

I'm getting a green bar (graphical glitch) at the top during video playback.
Getting it on videos using the YouTube app, and also on some MP4 movies on my sdcard. Happens no matter what video player I use.
Oddly enough, videos that I had recorded with the Evo camera do not have this.
Is it just me? or anyone else having this issue also?
As far as the Facebook, I cannot add my facebook account. The first time it asked for info and appeared to work, but if I go back into Accounts it's not there and I can't seem to add it.
I downloaded Swype beta from the site and it's working fine for me.

Yup, same here, 003 with nova and seeing the green bar. But, mine switched between purple and green at first, then switching to just green. But weirdly,I've only seen the bar watching hq videos on youtube. Regular movies don't have that....odd.
Would it not be better to use a bug tracking software, even a free one to keep the info sorted?
also have green bar, hw3, novatek panel. don't have it in videos i've recorded. it may just be a function of the youtube app, nothing to do with cm

When the new nightly comes out can I just download and flash over the top of the install so I dont have to start from scratch tomorrow?
heres a question:
is there anyway to get the htc dialer app back on this rom, or is that part of sense, if so can you please link up a apk?
so does this mean that there will be a new build every night from now on or what.
Fring works on WiFi with no problems but FC's when on 3g.
Turn Exposure to +1 on front camera to make it not so dark.

if i understand it correctly, it will be recompiled every night. however, if no code changes were made during the day, before compile, then the nightly won't be any different than the one before.
Also Exchange support in Froyo does not work reliably. This is not a bug in the mod, but in Froyo itself.

Bingo. Changes may be EVO specific or may be generic to all devices. This is why nightlies are not reliable, they are simply a snapshot of the code at the moment. I read a comment that sounded like one of the changes made for the EVO broke the Droid build. Don't think of these as general use builds like we see from DC, Avalaunch, etc. When there is an RC or final, cyanogen typically will post that here.

[ROM][P7320/P7320T][JB 4.1.2] Unofficial CyanogenMod 10 [2013-12-22] "FINALLY"
THIS ROM IS FOR GT-P7320 AND GT-P7320T ONLY! JUST LIKE nrvate's CM10 ROM FOR THE i957, THIS ROM COULD EAT YOUR INCOMPATIBLE DEVICE AS IT DOES NOT DO A DEVICE CHECK.
This is a Jellybean 4.1 / CM10 ROM for the Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE aka the P7320 or the P7320T.
The hardware in this tablet is almost identical to the SAMSUNG i957, except for the data partition being hosted on mmcblk0p28 instead of mmcblk0p26. First I tried converting the other builds, e.g. nrvate's work on the P7320, which worked well. Alas, I have decided a fresh build would be interesting. This build will probably stay at CM10/JB4.1 for now as the p5att variant has disappeared from the msm8660 source for JB 4.2.
You will need a CWM recovery to flash this, e.g. this one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569122

Install the ROM ZIP and GAPPS ZIP at the same time if you like. Also the first boot may appear to be hung but it will take a short while - don't panic due to the lack of boot animation!
Latest changes:
Touchscreen sensitivity increased + source updates from P7300/P7310
Battery/charging code updates from offical samsung ICS source
Custom additions:
Use the Adreno GPU for 2D rendering - greatly improves performance in the stock browser and launcher, and especially in landscape mode due to our screens being rotated 90 degress in software
smartassV2 governor - you can enable this in Settings -> Performance
USB charging and notification
Enable saving of blocked attachments (e.g. zip files) from the email app (from CM10.1)
Touchscreen sensitivity increased
What is working:
Screen
Speakers / Audio
Wifi
3g/4g
Bluetooth
Camera (front, back, stills mode only)
Tethering
USB charging and notification
What is not working:
Automatic brightness
Camera for video (video - wrong aspect ratio, changing resolution cases crash in app)
Vibration (works but is weak and only sends the start and finish signals)
Boot animation doesn't display 90% of the time
Charging bug while turned off, you may need to unplug the cable to turn back on
Wifi Direct
HDMI out + probably anything that uses the dock port except for USB and charging
+ Lots more that I don't know about yet

I've tested merging the USB charging changes in and it seems like it will be possible, but I will need to make another build. Will look at doing that later in the week.
The good news is, however, while running the tablet off USB, even without the patch, it appears to do some sort of charging, as shown in the "Settings->Battery" screen. So it might be more that the notification of charging, and potentially the "force charging" (which might be required for some devices), is missing.
I've been busy trying to get CM10.1 (JB4.2) booting properly on this device. Currently get ADB starting up, no display working, so not sure about what else.
If anyone who has been working on android/cm ROM development would like to help out please let me know as it's very very new to me !
New version 20131214
Hi all,
New version up that shows USB charging status.
Also the previous change to use the adreno GPU in 2D mode didn't take any affect, I've fixed that and added some more GPU related tweaks.
You can download it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B48JIYNc4wvsM1U2b0lCbmZ6S0E/edit?usp=sharing
I also have a new kernel for testing some touchscreen behaviour.
Here is the flashable zip:
cm-10-20131214-UNOFFICIAL-p7320.kernelupdate.zip (use File -> Download from Google drive)
It has some more "up to date" files from the Samsung ICS tree, but I'm not sure if they are having any effect.
If you want to quickly roll back to the original kernel for comparisons, here it is:
cm-10-20131214-UNOFFICIAL-p7320.kernel.zip (use File -> Download from Google drive)
I'll probably keep the updates in there but I'd like a second opinion to see if I've made any difference at all

I've merged this attachment unblocking feature in the next build.
Also... is anyone having trouble with charging? Sometimes my tab won't charge past about 60-70% overnight. A reboot or charging while turned completely off seems to fix it... if others are having problems with it I might look into it further.
New version, includes saving of blocked attachments (e.g. zip files) from the email app (from CM10.1). Also the init logo now displays, before the boot animation does. Still pot luck as to whether the boot animation will display.

i use autostarts for editing what happens when and if it happens at all (IE when you change network setting or plug phone to pc or install app there is processes triggered by these actions and more. this app allows you to control what runs and what gets forgotten {i disable all widgets that don't use etc})
also cpu tuner allows my gf phone to have multiple "triggers" for cpu IE 100% when screen on and active 80% when screen on but not active and down we go to 30% of cpu power while screen is off again 100% in case you get phonecall or plug in power source (all to be set to your own liking) and i stick with interactive governor but performance might be needed as i dont know what you want to run
IO found THIS thread
3 make full nandroid backup and flash it seems good but considering you on Cr3pt's ROM most of it will be there already so only minor increase in performance if any
4 Q: have you used it in last month or so ? A: no ? So freeze that app (better to stay away from system apps thats for advanced users[i still freeze all live wallpaper related stuff google talk, weather widget etc])
MAKE SURE TO DO FULL NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE USING ROM TOOLBOX(and stay away from boot animations/fonts)
My GT540 is currently on:
Code:
Version 2.2.1
Kernel version: 2.6.29 [email protected]
Mod version: OpenSwift/CyanogenMod-6.1.1
for cca 2 years but this version has some problems with the camera.
I lack the time to test all the ROMs so I need some advice.
Which ROM would you recommend if battery life is important?
I only use the phone to write SMS messages, listen to music and from time to time, I browse the Internet and use Google maps. I also need a properly working camera. With the 2.2.1 version, the application for the camera often crashes and even restarts the phone completely when I try to take a picture.
I am thinking about to switch back to the original 2.1. Stock ROM but I thought maybe, there are some tweaked ROMs which maybe improve battery life by removing unnecessary stuff from the OS (but only those which don't break the camera software...).
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Thanks in advance for your advice!

if you are ONLY for battery life, 2.1 is the best for you..
there are some good roms but its difficult to find downloads
1. greendroid (latest version is 2.1 if i remember correctly) but i can only find an older version (v1.8)
2. and my favorite: eleganceswift 5.0 download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1368013
3. if you want better performance and faster system you may want to try miroslav_mm's AOSP 2.3.7 (v2.1)
download: http://dfiles.eu/files/3pgc62a7y
ROM thread with old download: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1854374
Have fun!

Isn't eleganceswift the HTC Sense lookalike rom? I loved that rom back in the day! I'd prefer miro's 2.3.7 if I was still using this phone though. Good performance considering it's specs and up to date compared to 2.1
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I installed Eleganceswift 5.0 and the camera works flawlessly but strange things are happening:
1. The battery meter is not working properly, every now and then the battery meter turns red and I get a message that the battery level is below 14%, a few minutes later, the battery is "green" again. Before installing the ROM I discharged my phone and then charged it for 3 hours so the ROM was installed on a 100% fully charged battery. I haven't charged my phone with the new ROM yet (since it hasn't discharged yet, the status says that it is turned on for about 50 hours). When I discharge my phone, would a battery calibration app help me or should I try something else?
2. The power control...
On Quarxs ROM I could add a 10 item power control widget on my screen which includes Wireless, Bluetooth, ... , Airplane Mode shortcuts (i.e. "buttons") while this ROM permits only a 5 item widget (Wireless, Bluetooth, GPS, Synchronize, Brightness). I badly want a "switch on/off Airplane mode" shortcut and a "turn on/off Mobile Network" shortcut on my home screen. How can I accomplish this?
3. The "Manage applications" section:
Either I don't get it or it just doesn't work properly. On Quarxs ROM this section included 4 tabs, clicking on the first tab, you get a list of all apps which are installed, the second tab gives you a list of all apps currently running and you can clear the cache used by specific apps and force stop running apps. On Eleganceswift, when I open the "Manage applications" section, I get a list of all the apps I installed (the apps which are preinstalled are not listed in this section). Clicking on a specific app, for example Opera Mini, I get some information and 4 buttons: Uninstall, Clear cache, Clear defaults, Force stop. Uninstall and Force stop are always clickable (the Uninstall button works properly) but clicking on Force stop doesn't do anything (it's even clickable when the app is not running, clicking on it yields a "click animation" but the button remains unchanged so I can click it again (it's not grayed out after I click) and it just doesn't do anything (I think)). The "Clear cache" and "Clear defaults" buttons are always grayed out i.e. "unclickable". When I go to About phone --> Battery use section, the list is always the same:
Code:
Adobe Reader
Android System
Cell standby
Phone idle
even though I started a bunch of apps (Opera Mini, MyPhoneExplorer, Shazam, Music app) and I always clicked the Home button after starting an app and not the back button to make sure that the app is not stopped.
Any advice is appreciated! :crying:

It is worth mentioning that in this release, if we toggle the root ON, we can freely modify the system partition! No need for any custom files!
Does "Pokemon Go" app works with this version?
good update but remix os is still far superior.
@slybunda At what? I can also say my bike is superior without listing it's pros.
more stable and better 3d support
It all comes down to specific hardware @slybunda . On my devices Phoenix is more stable and has more features at the same time plus a better design. I personally don't care about 3D acceleration - android-x86 would be enough for games because those are usually ran in fullscreen, so no desktop UI needed.

I love your rom so much @Regnas I updated a port that already existed for the vzw gs4 just so I could keep using it for my own personal use. It's the best rom ever, 10,000xlove. Sorry that's a little off topic because it's not really the same rom. This is just the first post I've seen from you and had to shoutout some love
@tdct12 do have in mind that this is an official release by Chaozuo @Regnas does deserve the love for publishing it though

Has anyone had any luck booting this from USB? I have tried from USB and SD, but have had no luck. I was able to dual boot from my SSD drive, but it seemed to make my Win 10 OS lag a lot. I ran the installer and selected install to U, and let it install. I do have bios setup to boot from USB first and even tried it through the boot menu. It almost seems like the drive is not bootable though. Any ideas or thoughts?
Verification failed error 15. Any work around?
