Is there a way to unlock the SIM for all companies on CM9? I tried the "classic" sim unlock for cm7, but it didn't work.
Thanks in advance.
Hey,
I have the same problem on an MB526 Can`t Downgrade Baseband or other Calculation has not working.
An other way to Unlock the device?
I would like to know this too. Just got a new sim card and no unlock options pop up after boot ...
how do I do it?
using cm9 on defy
----
so, I went and flashed the latest sbf back to normal froyo. I then realised the sim card wasn't inserted properly as froyo at least told me that 'no sim was present' rather than just saying there was no network. DOH!
So maybe it would have been possible in CM9 in the settings > secuity > sim unlock
Royal pain
If there is a way, to unlock a Captivate with CyanogenMod9, I would be most appreciative to hear it!
I have CyanogenMod9 , a Terminal Emulator, ROM swapper, and other brilliant stuff that I have no idea about but it came with the used phone I got from family.. who got it from someone else.
What I have tried:
1. Code Companies
2. Watching Video of 'Wei' from XDA over Youtube
3. Downloaded and ran 'SGS Unlocker' from Google's 'Play Store'
4. Read up on methods until it became info overload
The complications:
1. Code Companies- Want all the normal info that you'd submit to AT&T forms anyway but the Code Companies charge for a service anyways. They want to know the IMEI easy; the make&model- easier still; and the original service carrier - Straight Talk is AT&T, but then they had sueing issues and fighting and dropped support and junk that makes your head spin... the kind of info I can't even imagine where to start after it's been a hand-down three times. Then it takes 24hrs to get a code; a physical store that does this is even worse- they require more money and three days. Not to mention that you'd be the holder of the AT&T account to do it the simpler-/+Easier way through AT&T 'unlockdevice' .. and I don't recognize the SIM card except that it may be straight talk based off one result from a Google search using 'SIM 89014' .
2. Wie's video was informative, but when I typed the *#7465625# into the phone, it resulted in and error 'no network connection'(I can't begin to figure what that means); So no telling what locks are on the phone, the '*#746..' doesn't work for me.
3. Downloaded and ran SGS Locker from Google's- Play Store, but it results with 'no codes found' (*sarcastic* Peachy).
4. Read XDA forums.. at least five threads with multiple results each, but this is the only one I've found relevant to my issues with the CyanogenMod9.
So I'm burnt out and sick of learning about the Samsung Galaxy S1 aka Captivate aka i897 aka Vivid aka SGH-I897 aka WHATEVER! I just freaking want to use the phone on T-mobile services , unlocked or locked... I've lost care about unlocking to no carrier.
I have a Terminal Emulator though. Is there a step by step input that I can use to find the unlocking code I need?
Thanks.

Hi all, I'm new here and before I tell you the problem, I appreciate all the info on these forums and the work that is put into everything. Thank you in advance.
So, I have a locked Rogers branded X10a, and I was unable to get the SIM unlock pin. So, I got the network unlock code, but whatever sim I put in, the screen always reads "no sim card" in the phone and then the activating screen loads and continues to load forever. Under settings (without a sim in the phone), there is the option for sim unlock pin, but that is the code that I am unable to get after numerous tries on different sites.
How can I get to the screen to enter the sim network unlock code if the phone in not recognizing any sim cards that I put in? Btw, I'm using AT&T. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the length of this post and thank you.
I had similar issue my w580i. I had it after putting the unlocking code it stop recoganising SIM, havn't solution till now
Did you try using a different Rogers sim?
I don't have a rogers SIM, only AT&T. I bought the phone locked and just figured I would be able to get an unlock code like all the other phones I've had before, but no dice.
Check your pm
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
I just tried to put in my deactivated Rogers SIM card from long time ago, and I am also getting "No SIM Card" ... Not sure if your problem has anything to do with Rogers Wireless used to be "Rogers AT&T" before
If you have any friends has SIM card from different carriers, try to put those in and see if you experience "No SIM Card" issue.
Regards
Mabye it does.. I'll try and find someone with a Tmobile sim I guess.. thanks for the advice though..
Please keep me updated on this, I'm trying to unlock my X10, I got the code from cellunlock.net through the manufacturer and keeps telling me after I enter the code that it was unsuccessful.
I still can't unlock my phone either but I'm not sure about the SIM unlock code you're talking about. Are you talking about the IMEI? or the actual code that's used to unlock the phone? I've tried Mobileincanada.com but they couldn't unlock my phone and gave me a refund and I'm still waiting for this dealer on ebay. Good luck dude, keep us posted

Got an unlock code, www.cellunlock.net
Make sure to pick the Sony Ericsson Manufacturer code it's 34.99 but well worth it. It works now.
the manufacturer unlock code is the one I got, but I just don't get the option to put it in because the phone doesn't recognize the AT&T sims that I've put into it...

How old are the sim cards? If they are old, get new ones. Also, try re-installing the firmware through seus and then putting in your sim card. I never had that issue, I just had a hard time finding the code.
I had a real old one from cingular, but then I just went to AT&T and got a brand new one, but same issue. I'll try updating and see if that helps, but will the phone update without a valid sim inserted?

I had that same problem. Call AT&T or go to your AT&T account online and get the PUK number. Also, did you call AT&T and told them you have a new phone? They need your phone's new IMEI number.

I'm sorry, what is the PUK number for and also, why does AT&T need my IMEI number? I mean, the phone is still locked to rogers right now regardless, right?
Lots of noob questions, sorry.
Also, i already spoke to AT&T, Rogers and Sony Ericsson about the issue, but none of them are any help of course. The PUK did nothing for me either. I feel like I am running out of options here...
welcome to the club
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717414&highlight=phone+stuck
so far no solution
So, I tried repairing through PC Companion and then I also ran the update and go the newest firmware installed now, but still same problem. Phone does not recognize the AT&T when inserted and therefore, no option to enter the network unlock code. Any others have any luck/make any progress??
wow... i guess i'm in the club as well. I just got back from the Rogers store and they wouldn't let me replace the phone anymore. I've bought the manufacturer's code which is suppose to work 100% but it didn't...so desperate
Sorry to hear that...
You said the code you got didn't work? In what way? did you try to get a refund by providing video evidence?
On a side note, does anyone know how to access a keypad on the x10 that enables you to imput the left arrow, *, * left arrow method to input the code? I realize I need to have a valid rogers sim inserted in order for this to work, but I do not see how to input the arrow keys. Any suggestions? As I've said, I'm new to android and to a device with no physical keyboard, so maybe this is very simple...
thanks and good luck to others in the same spot as me right now..
Well a friend of myne returned to lithuania for a few days and he gave me his old T-Mobile (HTC Sapphire MyTouch 3G) phone as he didn't need it anymore. But we don't have T-Mobile here and when i try to boot it up it asks me to login with a google account and i can't do anything since no T-Mobile , means no internet connection can't login. I tried fastboot but it says "not allow" adb woun't work since i can't enable debugging , not can i mount the damn sd card.
Is it still possible to do anything with it or should i trash it ?
Don't trash it!!
Get a local SIM with data (just pay as you go), try to find one with data where you pay by the megabyte. Then at the google sign in screen, press menu and enter the apn for your network. You will then be able to sign in.
I'v actually tried two local sims , trying to enter the APN just doesn't let me save
if i press save what i typed just disapear, and it does not let me connect.
Tried hot-swapping the T-Mobile sim that came with the phone to no avail
Funny how people are quick to throw $400 phones away because they cant find a "simple" answer.
You can either find a cell company that uses Tmobiles networks, we have a few here in florida... Or you can get an unlock code through many a website or ebay emailed to you and use it on any company that uses a sim and the same baseband frequencies.... ATT, Virgin mobile etc....
Or you can send it to me to use as a development phone lol J/K ... maybe ;P
We got 3 providers here none of which have anything to do with T-Mobile (2 of which i already tried)
And i can't really find any way (as far as i read) to access it without getting past the google screen and enabling adb
Maybe a gold card would work ? but doesn't hat require enabling "unknown sources"
which again i can't do without getting past the damn google screen :|
(i'm not in USA btw , i'm in Lithuania (small european country))

lol, I know your not in the US. But you do have at least one GSM carrier right? one that uses sim cards? If so, you need to unlock the phone with a code given from ebay or one of the many sites.
Using a gold card is not going to help you. Rooting it would help you get past the sign in screen, but using a gold card can just brick it anyway.
We have 3 carries that use sim cards but none of them worked , tried all of them
all had data plans but apn just doesn't work at all on them
and i'm kind of weary of those unlock codes since i can just pay money and get a bogus code

They arent going to work unless you unlock the phone.
And thats why you dont buy a code from sme random person. You find a respectable seller on ebay or research a site.
I suggest ebay the best because they will email the code to you and give you instructions.
Again, the reason they didnt work is because the phone is locked to only using tmobile.
Once unlocked it can work on any sin card using carrier, but some take some extra settings.
can you guys recommend a good unlock code seller ? is it possible to get it for 10$ or less?
Hello everybody;
I am having a hard time unlocking my Samsung Galaxy S I9000. I am root and running GB 2.3.6 value pack.
First, I got the codes from my provider. I started the phone without SIM card and when I tried to put the code
#PW+12345678+1#
I wasn't able to get "P" or "W". It seems you get "P" and "W" by pressing 3 times or 4 times "*" but I just got *** or ****.
So I tried plan B, using Galaxy_S Unlock Helroz from Google Play.
I follow the instructions and after rebooting the phone and writing *#7465625# I get this screen
So it looks like it is unlocked, but when I tried to call with another different SIM (different provider) I cannot call or be called. The name of the new provider apperars, but when I phone it just makes a beep and get no signal.
Can anybody think of some step I've done wrong?
Thanks a lot for your attention.
It seems there was some trouble with the first SIM I used, as I've tried again with another different one and it works. So, yes, with
that app you can unlock your phone safely.
I recently purchased this phone (about 3 days ago) and i have rooted and put Gwiz v1 boot loader onto it. It runs very well, but the t mobile service in my area is abysmal. The t mobile device unlock doesn't work, and neither t mobile or Walmart will unlock it until it's been on their plan for 90+ days without issues.
I want to switch to AT&T towers on straight talk, but that sim isn't able to be used until I unlock it. If i were to purchase an unlock code, where would I enter it? I've got developer mode on, if that makes any difference.
Friendly bump.
I haven't unlocked a phone in a LONG time (I just buy them unlocked now), so there's a good chance the process has since changed, but I remember buying the unlock code and then entering it into the dialer app/calling it. There was then a carrier-specific recorded voice message announcing that the phone's been unlocked.

I don't want to pay for an unlock code I wouldn't be able to use. The guy selling them says that the phone should be asking for an unlock code.

I completely understand... I'd be thinking the same if I were in your shoes. I did some looking around and it seems like the unlock process is no longer done via dialing a number, but rather via apps - some carriers make available an app where you simply enter an unlock code and the rest of the work is automatic, so please check and see if this applies to you.
If not, the process is going to be somewhat more difficult. You'll probably have to flash some O/CFW, root the phone, then install and use an unofficial unlocking app. My dad had to go this route for his Sprint S6 (he's now using T-Mobile). If you're using this detour, try and find, then follow, a tutorial on flashing firmware and rooting your device. I'll post some links if you can't find anything. After doing that, look around for an unofficial carrier unlocker. There's probably several here on XDA, but do note that most of them will lighten your wallet by $20-30 or so. Once you pay the developer, they'll either email you a code or whitelist your IMEI for their app, and send you the apk.
Best of luck, and have a great day.

My phone is rooted and has Gwiz v1 custom bootloader. I haven't seen anything about unofficial unlocking apps, but I tried the official T-mobile unlock app and it didn't work on original or flashed firmware. I tried calling T-mobile, who told me to call Walmart Family Mobile, called them, they told me to call Straight Talk, who told me to go back to Walmart. Straight Talk can't unlock the phone, and neither T-Mobile or Walmart will unlock it until I've been a customer for 3+months.
Hi,
First off, thanks to everyone that keeps this place running and helpful. I don't post here often because i don't mind doing my own research. So, Secondly...
My buddy bought me a Verizon Moto G4 Play for Christmas. Its a nice little phone. Anyway, I met Verizons criteria for unlocking the phone and they gave me the code. Their directions, told to me by a few csrs ( you know how it is, you rarely get the right answer the first time) was to put a sim from a different carrier in the phone, power it up and the phone will recognize the foreign sim causing thr phone yo open a network unlock code box. Enter the code, press ok, and the phone is unlocked.
Sounds like an easy plan except the box never appears.
If i put an active tmobile sim in and then look ay the phones stats under settings, all the right info is there. Network name, network state, the sims phone number....but the phone wont dial nor surf the web. There is notification saying this is not a Verizon sim.
I have spent hours here searching and reading. I am stuck. I am pretty skillful now, thanks to you guys, and have rootrd, modified, and even gotten viper4you to work on 6 phones and 3 tablets but now I ask for your help. I know .y Samsung s all dave a dialer code to get to the network areas but i sure as hell cant find a thing for this phone.
So, in summary, Moto G4 play, unlocking code from Verizon. No way to use or enter the code. Help??
Never mind. I figured it out. Big deal, data only. Its a Verizon phone till the end.
