help! Voicemail doesn't work on Mortify rom - Epic 4G General

Hi, I installed mortify rom, everything works well, except that I'm unable to get any voicemails. Currently I'm on FB15. when I clicked the VVM, it says: " account verification error communication with the voicemail to text server has timed out. We will continue to verify your voicemail to text account status in the background. voicemail service will not be interrupted while we verify the account status."
I tried to send a composed message to [email protected] , unable to send.
if I click settings-> check for update, i get "general failure. please try again at a later time."
any ideas? thanks in advance!

Either clear data in the voicemail app, or restore it from a previous install.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium

tried both, didn't work I even wiped cache, dalvik cache, and reflashed again.. same problem

Did you try it from a clean install? Factory wipe data, cache and Dalvik, reflash, sign into Google, and try VMM. If it works then you can start restoring things, but no data.

sigh, tried the factory wipe, dalvik, cache wipes... reflashed again, still not working
however, I managed to get google voice to work lol now, how do I uninstall the stock VVM?

Was gonna suggest Gvoice next..lol. Also visual voicemail plus in the Play store. Using root explorer or ES File Explorer delete vtt-sprint.apk from system\app directory.

hmm, for some reason, i'm unable to delete the vtt-sprint.apk file. I force stopped the application as well, and still can't delete it..

Make sure to make the system directory r/w.

The rom might be missing some sprint files. See if in setting about phone it allows you to update prl and user profile?

Try the two files on this thread; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19270912
And 3 or 4 post down from that one is another file. One is an app updater and the other is a sprint extension file. Push these through to system app. And see if that works. Kennyglass helped me with this way back then when vvm wouldn't connect and prl and profile wouldn't work.

How to get the KA12/13 rom completely functional for r800x CDMA users

Hey guys I'm new! Nice to meet all of you.... here are some things you can do to make this great rom even more functional on the r800x.
1. WIPE YOUR SYSTEM ENTIRELY... Data, Cache, Dalvik.. the works. Install KA12 first, followed by doomlord's wifi modules (I used the most recent test release for the 2.34 verizon upgrade and they worked like a charm.)
2. Let the system boot up.. you will most likely get some kind of error, or it may take you to the setup screen... either way, at this point, return to CWM, and wipe your dalvik cache. Next Install the CDMA patch 9 (I used the non-modded version)
3. Install google apps, and any other KA12 zips you desire to flash. When you are finished flashing, clear both cache and dalvik.
4. Now install KA13 over KA12 system meaning DO NOT DO THE FACTORY RESET.
5. You may want to reflash the wifi modules, I do not know if it is necessary, but I did it to to be safe.
6. Reboot the system, and complete set up.
7. Using root explorer, go navigate to the system apps directory, and find a phile called SEMCtelephonyservice.apk (or something very much like that).. make sure root explorer is set mounted to R/W and then simply click on this app, and open it with the APK handler or simply click install. It will tell you this app is already installed, and you are replacing it. Say ok. Now go and try your dialer. You should only get one force close after making a call now, and it should go away forever after this... No more phone force close yay!!
8. While your in system apps folder, go ahead and delete the USBconnectivtyux.apk (or something like that) ... don't worry.. this has no effect on USB connectivity at all, it still works fine... and guess what.. NO MORE FORCE CLOSE WHEN YOU CONNECT USB!
9. With your wifi connected, go to the play store and download a free app called APN manager... install it. Once you have opened it simply import the APN settings for verizon onto your phone, and reboot your phone. Once rebooted,(you can turn off wifi now) open up your mobile network settings, and make sure you have mobile network data enabled... I allowed national roaming, I'm not sure if you have to.. then click the APN settings... you should see Verizon in there now. Make sure to click that circle to turn on those APN settings.. This will get your sms/mms up and running.
10. Finally, to get my 3G icon to show up I had to redownload the SETDNS app... I got the pro version... and when I enabled google DNS, I immediately got a 3g icon in my status bar. The second time I ran through this, I did not immediately get a 3g status icon.. If this is the case for you, just simply toggle airplane mode after setting the DNS, and your 3g should eventually kick in. If you do not get a 3g icon, my understanding is that your data works even though you can't see it, however you will have trouble downloading apps.
Thanks dude.

[How-to]How to get XT926 roms working on your XT925

I had been going through flashing withdrawl due to the lack of roms for the XT925 and decided to play around and see what worked. Installing XT926 roms is no problem with safestrap but there were always thing not quite working; only 3G speed and no wifi being the main ones. I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2107662
but replacing the two files wasn't enough so I played some more and had success!
Getting LTE: Enter *#*#4636#*#* on the dialer and select "Phone Information" scroll down and make sure "LTE/CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA" is selected under "Set preferred network type:". DO not change anything else here unless you know what you are doing! DO not change anything else here unless you know what you are doing!
Make sure "Global" is selected under "Network Mode" in your Mobile Network Settings. Now enter your APN manually. BOOM you has LTE. I had to keep resetting from GSM/UTMS to "Global" after a reboot, this is fixed by the build.prop changes and factory reset.
Add or change the following lines:
ro.mot.ds.fastdormancy.disable=true
telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=0
telephony.lteOnGsmDevice=1
ro.telephony.default_network=9
ro.ril.def.preferred.network=9
ro.mot.eri=0
ro.cdma.home.operator.isnan=0
then I removed every line that had "cdma" in it (except the one above)
Now the default_network setting will not be changed unless you factory reset after and if the rom does not have your apns "on file" you will have to fiddle to get data to work on a reboot. This is fixed by replacing the apns-conf.xml file found in /system/etc/ with one that has your carrier setting or editing the existing one.
Note: I tried doing an advanced data restore through Safestrap/TWRP and the connection on boot issue came back. Restoring with Titatnium worked fine
Getting wifi: you need a root browser for this. Back up your original ones by adding ".bak" to the end of the name. Download the zip attached (no it is not flashable, I don't have that expertise) and extract it to your phone somewhere. Copy the Set1 (cfg80211.ko & wlan.ko) files to /system/lib/modules then copy the Set2 (cfg80211.ko & prima_wlan.ko) files to /system/lib/modules/prima
Fix permissions and reboot. (I don't actually know if all four files are needed, just that it works when they are all there!)
"Wifi still isn't working!?" Compare the permissions of the new files to the old ones (you backed them up right?).
Getting rid of "This SIM card is from an unknown source:" delete VzwPhoneService.apk from system/app
Tested with "Foot Through The Floor", "wWidow" and "fusionHD" with safestrap.
Thanks to:
mattlgroff for the clue that it was possible with his Batakang for Atrix HD release
Cambridge2009 for the hint where to start in their Atrix > Razr thread

Observations:
Everything works flawlessly now!
I am not responsible for you borking this process and by extension your device, always have backups to save yer arse if you do. I have messed things up many times with many devices with no sweat because I consistently backup.
Re: How I got XT926 roms working on my XT925

Re: How I got XT926 roms working on my XT925
So far the only issue I have had is that the data will not reconnect after WiFi is turned off. A reboot does fix it and sometimes I will have to toggle gsm/utms back to global after the reboot. Not a big deal for me as I only use WiFi at home but it could be aggravating. I'm going to see if there is anything I can change in the build prop and/or more lib files to copy.
I've really been researching all over to bring it all together... So a work in progress, but definitely usable as a daily driver!
Sent from a non-apple device.
I was able to fix the data disconnects through some build.prop changes and added it to the first post. I'm still going to look and see what else can be tweaked but I'm very happy at the progress!
Added a bunch more tweaks to make the data connection persist reboot and make everything run as it should.
i can also confirm wifi worked perfectly after following the instructions on the main page i didnt have to chang apn's the ATT ones were already there then again when i flashed this rom i never wiped system just factory, cache, dalvik
So say i didn't back up the files.. Anyone know the permissions? lol
Rw-r-r
For all four files, as well as the APN xml.

What rom are you trying to use? I've been told that the CM10 for XT926 has a different file structure than the other roms that I've had success with. If you are trying to get CM10 on your Atrix HD you are better off using the one for the XT925:

I believe everything should work fine.

You need to change the permissions for the file after moving it. The "change" won't happen for you because you are trying to change it in your sdcard storage.
OK got the permissions changed then moved the files and rebooted and still nothing. But there was no prima folder inside of modules to put anything in.
Sent from my Atrix HD using xda app-developers app
If it's CM10 then yes the file structure is different. CM10 for the XT925 should have working WiFi for the Atrix HD without changing anything.
So I can't get WiFi Woking? I have 2 cm10 versions one only lte works and one only WiFi works.
Sent from my Atrix HD using xda app-developers app
I haven't played around with the CM roms to know how everything goes together.
I'm guessing you got lte working on the XT926 version but no WiFi and no lte on the XT925 version? On epinter's CM10.1 there is a bug that the signal won't show but the lte DOES work:
http://www.linuxmobile.org/razrhd (has CM 10 and CM 10.1 for XT925)
Bugs:
LTE Signal bar (lte works, but the signal indicator don't show)

[Q] Bypass exchange security

Hey all,
I'm coming from the Samsung Epic 4G touch ..... thankfully off sprint ......... that was a horrible 4 years of abysmal coverage .. slow speeds when it would connect .. and random disconnects thrown in just for fun....
I'm pulling crazy fast speeds everywhere I go ... Hit 50Mbps this morning on my commute..
However, one thing I liked about my samsung was that there was an APK to bypass the exchange security pin ...
Anybody know if the Epic 4g Touch (Sprint version of SGS2) APK will work on the G2? or if there is a version out there that will accomplish this ?
I saw one for the GS4 ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2355654
Didn't know if this would work on the LG G2 ...

Solution
I just did this on my own before seeing your post- hopefully you will find this useful.
I used this set of APKs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1965468
Grab Email-JB.apk and Exchange2.apk
First, you need to completely uninstall (not just freeze) the LG Email app. I used Titanium Back to do this- make a backup of the app first in case you ever wanted to go back for whatever reason. Once the LG Email app is uninstalled, you can install the 2 AOSP APKs.
I didn't try installing them normally (download->open->install), it's worth a shot- instead I used the directions in the post to push the APKs via ADB.
You should see "Success" after pushing both via ADB (I did Exchange2.apk first, but I can't imagine it would matter). Unplug your phone, open Email, and you're set. My Email is syncing perfectly with my corporate email, no lock screen password required.

YES!!!!!!!!!! This totally works..
Thank you for looking out, and thanks for posting this ... I've been waiting to be able to add this .. and having to carry 2 phones to check email because I didnt want to be pinlocked on my G2!!
My procedure -
Rom tool box free for the uninstall, the titanium way didnt work for me because I have TWRP installed .. and when it would try the recovery removal .. it would boot to TWRP instead of the stock recovery ...
Anyways, Rom Toolbox free has an uninstall utility, couldnt be easier .. uninstalls without a reboot needed.
Turned on wireless storage, copied over exchange2.apk and Email-jb.apk and installed through android .. didnt use the ADB method .... it works perfectly!!!!!!
Thanks again.
That works. Only downside is it removed the feature of peak and off peak for message retrieval. oh well.

Tried this several ways, but it does not install. Can u give some more direction on this? Do we put itf in the apps folders? Flash it? Any advice would be appreciated. I like the lg email app and don't want to go back to the stock one if possible.
if someone figures out how to do this with the stock email app that comes with the att version, that would be awesome. I like that version better than the one you have to install to get this to work.
I really hate having to use a pin, but I have to give my work permission to remote wipe my phone. Is there any chance this could be flagged by my employer and they remote wipe my phone? That would really suck because of the lack of memory card. Anybody that has been remote wiped, did it affect the entire phone, or just the main system?

you can do a dirty flash (without wiping) so you won't lose all your settings. it's usually not recommended becuase it can cause FC, but since you're already getting them, I'd say that its worth a shot

i'm sure there's some way to put the Hangouts app back into the app folder and change it's permissions, but i always end up screwing that up lol. that's all the advice i have. good luck :good:
here is the process to "push" a system app to your phone.
1. download the ROM or GAPPS that hangouts originally came from to your sdcard or extsdcard if you don't already have it
2. using root explorer or es file explorer, navigate to system/app in the rom or GAPPS zip file and extract hangouts.apk
3. copy or move hangouts.apk into system/app on your phone
4. change permissions to -rw-r--r--
5. reboot and it should work fine

[Q] Disable OTA Notification?

Hi all,
I am stock, rooted, and have TWRP. I have done the following:

heres the FIX it easier than redoing ur phone to stock just go to terminal command in twrp and type
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota
then hit enter
type
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc
then hit enter and reboot.
EDIT: enjoy dont do the update also i wonder which OTA it is ?

I am still getting the OTA Notification (and at one point, I lost my mobile data).
I do have Root Explorer, and from what I have read, it sounds like I should just use Root Explorer to delete the contents of /cache/fota? I see the files that were downloaded from last night, but there are others that have older file dates. Will this eliminate the annoying notification?
Thanks!
I'm in the same boat. The dd commands will remove the files, but as soon as I reboot, the OTA package downloads again, hence the reason it seems the commands don't work (but they do). Basically we need to disable auto-updates and then re-run the dd commands from TWRP.
I just can't find where to disable auto-updates so I'm either blind, stupid, or very possibly both.
settings, General, about phone, rest is self explanatory

i too would love to know how to disable the OTA notification. It continues to pop up every time i turn on the screen. I hit back to get out of it but its quite annoying. There is no way to disable it from the phone settings. What app or process do we need to delete or freeze to fix kill this?
It should be as easy as changing a number or letter in the build.prop. If I could get screenshots of the build.prop of the updated and non updated I could write up a guide.

Don't see anything in Settings > General > About phone > Software update that will allow me to disable OTA notifications.
I did end up using Root Explorer to delete all the fota files in /cache/fota; restarted my phone and haven't had any notifications yet, though it sounds like it will automatically download again in the future (?)
Change permissions?
Seems like once the files in the cache/fota folder are deleted or renamed you could change the permissions on the folder (remove 'W') and thus not allow any files to be written there. True?
Did anyone tried to disable app updates application?

you don't have update center there in app drawer>settings>about phone>update center>software update?
When you open software updates, then there is a checkbox for automatic?
Switch that off and delete the current downloaded one. via the methods previously discussed. Then you should never get the prompt, unless you factory reset and its on by default again.

Ok, so it's not just me. I don't have "Update Center". Only option within About Phone is "Software update" which just checks for an update. I've got the Verizon LG G2 and am running 4.2.2 stock if that helps.
I've got a full backup and may just unroot, upgrade then reroot. Doesn't sound like I have a way of disabling. Changing permissions sounds a bit risky to me.
Just change the fingerprint in the build prop. Should say something like ...11a change the to the newest ...12b? And Verizon will think you are updated and stop pushing it to your phone.

Alright, I've got the notification to stop popping up for me on Verizon by freezing the Software Update app. Did it 30 minutes ago, rebooted and still no pop up. I tried searching for what to freeze as I knew there had to be something, but kept coming up with instructions for the GS4. I looked at what I thought was every combination but not Software Update (Update, Verizon, System, but not Software... dur dur).
