I downloaded the EC09 debinged, but I get "MD5 hash value is invalid
<OSM> ec09debinged.tar.md5 is invalid." I'm doing it through ODIN, through PDA like the directions said, and it's the same file type as the other EC09, no I'm not sure what's going on. Any help would be appreciated.

probably a corrupted download, if you didn't alter the file in anyway. The only reason you should get an invalidhash, us if the file was changed in some way, after the hash was made. Which thread were you following for this?
Dished out by my dumb digits
The actual thread for it. I haven't messed with the file at all, just downloaded it to my desktop.

So more than likely a bad download job. Like txwolf said,Redownload and try again.
Also correct me anyone. But don't you have to unzip for. Tar to flash in Odin? Its been awhile lol

The links are down now I didn't have to unzip them to install the stock EC09, so idk. I might just stick with stock for a while then. Thanks!

Ok that is pat's thread. I think he's putting up alternative links. And, ciscogee, if the file is uploaded as a md5.7z, our some other extra compression, you'd have to unzip it to tar.md5. But, the hash would be made before the extra compression was applied, so that still wouldn't cause an invalid hash, unless Masoria was trying to flash it with the extra layer of compression intact.

The modem is in a tar.md5 file. How do I extract that? The other files when extracted end up as img. How do I look inside for content?

Already tried that. Doesn't want to open.
Going through gnu tar gives this error:
$ tar -xf MODEM_I9020XXJK1.tar.md5
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: A lone zero block at 24628
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
What next?
P.S. - gnu tar actually extracted the radio.img file despite the error. I am still trying to get inside the img files.

That would be because your file is still called "MODEM_I9020XXJK1.tar.md5" rename the file and remove the .md5 at the end.
i just fastboot flashed the boot.img and my nexus s won't boot now. you have all been warned with those leaked files!

Forgive asking the obvious, but did you check the md5 match on the download? Is the hash even available?

what did we even have to compare it to? those were the only files "leaked". supercurio couldn't get the kernel to boot as well.
WinRAR gives an error that the archive is corrupt when trying to extract the radio.img.

What am I missing? Odin can read tar.md5 files. I was of the understanding that these are tar files that have had the md5 checksum rolled into them, and that Odin will do a hash check on the file first, which should be safer. Will Odin still do the hash check if the file is just renamed, or will it ignore the checksum? It seems to me it would be better to make sure the instructions tell them to use the tar.md5 file in the first place.

Dude, you're an idiot. All the .md5 after the .tar does is force Odin to do a MD5 check. An MD5 check determines if the file is the correct size and thus if any bits are missing. You do NOT want to flash a .tar if it's failing the MD5 test, so all removing the .md5 does is make flashing via Odin more dangerous.
In addition, if your phone is passing the MD5 test and is hanging afterwards, removing the .md5 extension will accomplish absolutely nothing.
IN SHORT: DO NOT FLASH WITHOUT THE MD5 CHECK. IF THE FILE IS CORRUPT IT WILL LIKELY SOFT BRICK (OR POSSIBLY PERMANENTLY BRICK) YOUR PHONE.
PS: OP, learn how not to quadruple-post.
Hey all,
I was wondering what the pit file does exactly. I know you need it for Odin, and use it with tar or md5 files, just not sure what it does.
The Tar & Md5 files are all the roms and modems in one file so I know what those are.
Thanks
Force

The pit file tells Odin how to divide the partitions (for formating) and also where certain components go when flashing them individually.

Depends what you are using for a file. The .tar files already have the PIT as part of the file and ODIN automatically recognizes it. I guess it wouldn't hurt anything to put the PIT in with all the files (some do it this way).

Only if you are flashing a modem, etc. Generally not needed for a full system image but it couldn't hurt. Only 3-4 extra clicks to save yourself having to reflash.

HI I have downloaded the I5800XXJPM.zip firmware but it has only 3 files in it. Now i am confused how to flash it in Odin. I have flashed earlier using both the method like different files and one package but this file is different. I think i need to make a tar file before.
files that is under the zip file is: factoryfs.rfs, modem.bin and zImage.
Please suggest me the right way.
probably you open the tar file, those three files are inside the tar.

not its a zip file which has a size of 125 Mb. Previously I flashed my odin with both ways (one package and also with 4 different files) but both of those files were different. Can u give me a link so that I download the right file. Make sure its XXJPM coz i will then flash to Indroid 4.1, currently i m in XXJPF.

1% battery mod is working only with fugumod 2.4 kernals!!
what you want to know about themes../??
Just go to themes section download any theme you like..
read all the instructions..
generally there are two to three files which you have to replace with old files in system/framework folder.
some have themed apks also.
you have to replace them with old apks in system/app
that should be helpful!!
PS A thanks buttob do exist there if u dont know !!
The missing files were logo.png and cache.rfs.
I think that missing logo.png is not big deal, but I don't know what cahe.rfs is supposed to do.

No! You have the wrong file if unzipping it doesn't give you an md5.
Go get the right file. When you unzip it it will have the md5. Flash it through odin as a PDA.
Then you'll be all good.

im ODIN-ing back to UCUAMDB for now, DL'ing on this connection is painfully slow, like 4 hrs per ROM.
thanks; figured it wasnt right.
