Yes, flash a ROM based on AOSP 2.3.4, like aospCMod, or the CM7 nightlies.
I was hoping to be able to patch my current ROM, do you know if this is going to be possible?

Sounds like most likely Google is going to patch it on the server end: http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9216835/Google_moves_fast_to_plug_Android_Wi_Fi_data_leaks?taxonomyId=75&pageNumber=2

If the CM7 Nightlies will get the patch, does that mean CM7 Stable (7.0.3) will as well?

The firmware is US, not that it matters EU and US users can user each others firmware, not enough differences to matter.
firefox_modem and kitkat_modem are modems, that control wifi and sim card, if you flash a rom and your wifi or sim card isn't working then flash the correct modem. if using firefox flash firefox modem, if using kitkat flash kitkat modem.
You only need to flash modem if wifi isn't working if wifi is working no need to flash modem.

No, I do have a 2.1 rom though, 1.4 is better as it is close to being officially released while 2.1 is still beta.

Thanks for the reply. If I use the instructions here

will I get the same result as your ROMs, or do you have some special tweaks?

My builds have my own tweaks and adjustments, but those instructions will get you a very good rom, a little different than mine, but none the less very good roms. try both see if you notice the difference.
I compiled latest 2.1 yesterday, noticed alarm clock not working, alarm clock sets but doesn't go off. little annoyances like this keeps me from releasing it, 2.1 isn't ready for prime time.

Thanks, will pull later and build again.
Compiled 2.1
2014-07-18
Alarm clock does now work correctly.
Just some feedback.
used the .50 recovery to install the kitkat rom and everything works except it says "no service" on lock screen and other areas
that should show the carrier logo, also baseband in about phone shows as unknown.
the gallery app also dies everytime it runs, it opens but dies when you try to view a picture or when another app like contacts tries to use it. Open C is using a US ATT sim card.

Is there any chance you could take the newest ZTE build of Firefox OS and remove the Fox branding from the lock screen? It is literally the only problem I have with their build, the blue fox wallpaper just annoys me.

Hi everybody
I have made a flashable kernel zip from latest nightly update for 11s

I test with 38R

Flash from recovery

Didnt this the nightly with the new Touch update? I read that this causes sensor problems. I think there is another version to be released with the 28th nightly (tonight)

Is there anyway to install the kernel without breaking wifi? Thanks!

Let me guess, you were coming back to this kernel from Franco?
Also, to OP, are you going to keep maintaining this thread? Maybe having a regular (like weekly) updates or so?

Hmmm... I'm not that sure, but I guess there are some differences in the kernel between the standard CM11 and CM11S. Not too sure whether it is a good idea to flash kernel from nightly into 11S... How's your experience so far btw?

If you see other custom kernel pages, usually they would have different versions for CM11 and CM11S... So I would assume that there are inherent differences between them. But if it is working fine for you, then great! Maybe I'll try it myself too

Reflash (dirty) your ROM first to restore WiFi firmware
It means we have come a long way from earlier days where stock ROMs used to be terrible. XD XD
Don't need to fix what isn't broken XD

No comment of you own? Or are you dumbfounded that all the hype about custom kernels/roms don't add up?
Stock ROMs are best for people who are loyal to the handset manufacturers and are extremely cautious about security. But if you are someone who wants fast performance and customizations, then stock ROMs (except miui type ROMs) are no match to custom ROMs.

Disagree with this, anyone loyal to manufacturers ROM would not have bought an A1 with Android One, In the past I have spent ages changing ROM's or debloating to get a pure Android experience without manufacturers bloat. Anyone loyal to the manufacturers would have bought a MIUI based phone and not and Android One phone in the first place.
With the A1 you get that pure Android experience which for me is the best experience as the OP says.

Hi,
I've been kind of out of the loop for a bit, but after some problems with official ROMS i decided to switch to the custom ones.
I'm looking for something that's as stable and lag free as it can get (I was very happy with official roms from xiaomi to give you an idea of "good enough" for me).
Anything symilar available? I'm currently sitting on https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-4-prime/development/rom-aicp-13-t3752647 , but I see some minor stuttering and it happened to freeze for me already :/
I don't care about customization and fancy stuff, neither do i care about android version (as long as it's not ancient xD). Can anyone suggest something?

It's more stable because it's maintained more frequently, new builds are released as soon as the sources are updated.
And, there's no post about it on xda, it's maintained by a Russian dev and publishes his work on 4pda. So, you'll only get the zips. For details, follow him there.
