SetVsel or SetCPU doesn't go beyond 1000 GHz on my Defy+ (MB526).Many of you have overclocked your Defy+, Please Help
(Device is rooted)
Install root explorer or miexplorer from apoonet(check the dev thread).
Goto system/bootmenu/config and edit overclock.conf file for the desired values. Enjoy, you may have to reboot. You can see if they are effective or not using cpuspy app, install from market.

or you could also go into the custom recovery and overclock it from there
i find that much better
how do you overlock the defy form the recovery menu?
Your must have the option to do so .... and it's in the boot-menu and not recovery menu
Well, then thing is that i tried to boot into the 2nd init boot menu and the 2nd init menu but the phoen restarts and gets stuck int he motorola logo. DO i need to press any key or do anything after reboot? ,
Seems that there is kernel in-compatibility ..... what ROMS did you flash. ?
Defy+ stock.kernel doesn't allow OC-ing...I had to go to bootmenu and enable all modules and of course, overclock via CWM.It worked...
Those complaining of Defy+ not being compatible with SetVsel.that's your answer

Since many of u want to have max ram available while maintaining some feature, i just have a thought if we can use grub instead. I saw that there is a boot option. So may be we can change it and when boot up we can choose which kernel to boot from. U guys think its possible or not?
Would be great and should be possible, RyanZa made an app to change kernel dierctly on the phone so it is possible.
About boot loader, we could use CW:
When the phone starts it boots on CW automaticaly (without using the combo keys...)
We choose the kernel
We boot the phone with the selected kernel.
And also an option to disable/enable automatic launch of CW.
+1 for that

Hi all,
i had installed cyanogen mod on my defy and all was perfect.
After that i tried to install defy_recovery-1218-0326-signed.apk and it says that was installed successfully.
I tried to boot in recovery mode and when i power up the phone it stays on the initial logo forever (cyanogen mod 7..).
I tried to flash my version founded here sbf.droid-developers org but it make the same things on boot...
What should I do?
Please help me, i bought that phone yesterday!

yeah, i tried it now, i didn't know this method and it works...
But sorry man, what version should i install? Now I have 2.3.6 (i don't know why, it's the only version that work that i tried) but i would like to install Cyanogen Mod V7...
Can you explain me what should i do? Thank you very mutch!
So you flashed and 2.3.6 sbf? Do you have a Defy+ or a normal defy?
If you have a normal defy and you have a green lense, you can't use your camera anymore (kernel limitation) even not on CM.
To install CM7, download a Defy+ nightly (even if you have a normal defy, cause you are on defy+ kernal) form here: http://www.defy-cm.net/
You must not use defy_recovery-1218-0326-signed.apk any more.
Use 2nd init form: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212
When you have installed 2nd init: reboot, wait for blue led, press volume up,go to custom recovery, install the zip downloaded earlier.
But to install 2ndInit i have to get the root permission, how can i do it? With oneClick it doesn't work....
Yes I have the Defy MB525...
EDIT:
yeah, i get root permission and i installed 2ndinit but what should i do to get into recovery mode? I don't understand
RE-EDIT: I had to press power down button, not up...
I did the same mistake on my Moto defy ... did you get it to boot back up and if so how ? Ty to whom ever helps

Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Yeah it doesn't get past the HTC screen when I try to boot it, I've tried everything, it unrooted and stock right now. I can't use adb but I can use fastboot, I've tried the T-Mobile updates and ruu but nothing helps. I don't know what else to try.
There are tons of people saying SetVsel makes Defy+/MB526 reboot or freeze.
You need to have 2nd init and CWM on your phone.
go to bootmenu > system. Enable Overclock and Enable 'enable all modules' and SAVE.
SetVsel should work.and you can always overclock via CWM
My MB 526 is rooted and I did what you said but it's still crashing. I installed 2nd init and changed the overclocking settings. Then I reboot, SetVSel keeps on crashing. Am I doing something wrong here?
No idea...try setcpu with custom txt to OC

Hey! Here is another guide of mine. In this guide I will show you how to install AOKPlay by Supervenom, my current ROM of choice. It is found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582118
This won't cover the unlocking of the bootloader or the installation of the fastboot files.
I recommend reading the whole thread before starting.
Good luck!
1. Make sure you have all the drivers installed, made a nandroid backup and have an usb cable, usb port and your phone near you. Also make sure your phone has enough battery left. About 50% should be plenty.
2. Download the rom+kernel from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582118
3. Download the ROM and put it on your phones memory card.
3.5 (optional, but highly recommended: download the Gapps (Google apps), this is Google Play et cetera.)
4. Download the kernel (either Doomlords or Keirans) and put it in the folder your fastboot.exe is in. For me this is C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools.
If you download Doom's kernel, make sure to download the fix aswell and put it on your sd card.
5. Now grab your phone. Make sure it is turned off. Hold the search key while connecting it to your computer. The notification light should light up blue. When you have succesfully connected it (light is blue), you can release the search key.
5.5 Read steps 6-8 carefully. I have made a .bat file that will do this for you. If you choose to use it, place it in the same folder as your boot.img, and then launch. This won't work if you have renamed the dfk4.img. If you don't trust this, you can right-click it and hit edit. This way you'll see it says exactly the same as steps 7 and 8. Feel free to do it manually though.
http://www.2shared.com/file/PizbMctP/Flash_kernel.html for Keiran's kernel
http://www.2shared.com/file/8odggnur/Flash_kernel_Doom.html for Doom's kernel
6. I assume you have Windows Vista or 7. If you do, shift-click on a empty place in your fastboot folder and click "open command prompt here" or something similar (my Windows version is Dutch, so I don't know what it's called in English).
7. Flash the kernel using this command: fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img
8. Reboot the phone using this command: fastboot -i 0xfce reboot
9. While it is rebooting, spam the back key. You will now get into CWM recovery. Use the volume keys to navigate, and the home key to select. If you have Doom's kernel, you can use the touchscreen (I believe). Make a backup.
10. Press "wipe data/factory reset". Then, wipe the cache+dalvik cache (under advanced).
11. Select "install zip from sdcard", and then "choose zip from sdcard". Find the zip from step 3 and select it. (if you installed Doom's kernel, also select the fix)
12. (optional) Also install Gapps the same way as the ROM itself.
13. Press reboot system now, and enjoy your new ROM. The first boot may take a while.
Congratulations, you just installed AOKPlay!
If I made any mistakes, please let me know.
I am not responsible for any bricked phones, broken GPU's, force-closes and killed pets.
If this helped you, I would appreciate a "thanks".
Good luck!

i have usb debugging on and mtp turned off any ideas??
ALSO can i just install the kernel through clockworkmod instead of flashtool i noticed the kernels are .img files and not .zip??
i am rooted but my phone says no about unlocking bootloader any ways around this and can i still install this rom without being unlocked

I do not know the solution for the first problem myself. Maybe this thread will help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678215
But it is probably the bootloader, which needs to be unlocked. You can only install custom kernels with an unlocked bootloader, but there are some roms that work with the stock kernel, like Gin2ICS (I believe)
You can't install kernels through clockworkmod. I think this is because the recovery partition is inside the kernel.

Both are roughly the same but ics one only works on ics beta based roms. CM9 kernel, can be used on any cm9 based ROMS. So depending on the ROM u use then use either the cm9 or the ICS one.
Edit- and if ur switching ROM then ye u will need to wipe data, cache & dalvik cache.

I've put the link for retail asian Defy+ on another thread:laugh:, how many times do i have to tell you this?
Here are the steps for rooting-
1. Take a backup of all your apps and data.
2. Download Framaroot 1.6.0 from the thread (don't forget to thank the dev) and download 2ndinit - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212.
3. Copy both apk files to your sd card.
4. Enable USB debugging and unknown sources in settings-->applications.
5. Open file manager and install and open the app.
6. Root.
7. Then install the 2ndinit apk.
8. Reboot, and when the LED becomes blue, immediately press the volume down button.
9. Then a screen will appear. Now you can choose an option by pressing volume button and go up/down by pressing volume up/down.
10. Choose recovery, then choose stable/custom recovery (whichever is there).
11. Choose backup and then choose backup all.
12. Be patient while it does the job, DO NOT TAKE OUT THE BATTERY IF YOU THINK IT IS STUCK.
13. Then the options screen will come back.
14. Now you can install custom ROMs, PM me if you need more help.
Don't stress yourself so much. Grab a fixed sbf of quarx cm 10.2 or what custom sbf you like. That's simple for you
