I found some build.prop tweaks and I wanted to get some opinions on them. Some of them work and helped my phone. Some dont work. Some Im not sure if they do or not. There are a few I found that are device specific. But I dont know if they do anything.
Anybody willing to test these and give some feed back???

Will try it soon btw, "some of them work & some dont work" what work & dont work for you? thanks !
Keep in mind I am using my own custom ROM. Some of these can affect other ROMs differently. The ones I know worked in mine are:
profiler.force_disable_err_rpt=1
profiler.force_disable_ulog=1 --------->These 2 are for error reporting and logging. If you need to do testing do not add these lines.
ENFORCE_PROCESS_LIMIT=false
persist.sampling_profiler=0
ro.min_pointer_dur=5
ro.kernel.android.checkjni=0
persist.cust.tel.eons=1 - got better signal
ro.ril.enable.amr.wideband=1 - better in call voice quality
ro.max.fling_velocity=12000 - faster scrolling
ro.min.fling_velocity=8000 - faster scrolling
dalvik.vm.verify_bytecode=false
debug.composition.type=gpu - better 2d and 3d score, plays some games and vids better
settings.display.autobacklight=0 - turns off auto dim feature
Here is a few more to add as well
dalvik.vm.dexopt-data-only=1
debug.kill_allocating_task=0
debug.egl.profiler=1
debug.egl.hw=1 - not sure if these do anything.
and some roms have this line already but it needs to be changed from 1 to 0. If not you can add it. its supposed to make videos in youtube load and play better. 360p wasnt as choppy on mine after changing this.
ro.ril.hep=0
whats your build based on? just so people can get a rough idea CM7\AOSP?

From what i know, i read other tweaking thread this"debug.composition.type=gpu" should be, "debug.composition.type=mdp"
so.... know i confused about it. can someone explained what is the different "gpu" & "mdp" ? Sorry for being noobest...
Any reply, i really appreciate..
Thanks,
Edit : i used superb costum Rom ,CM9 made by paul-xxx
My build is based from GingerXperia V22. But its faster, smoother, and looks better. Im trying to get permissions to release it. Hopefully soon!!! Anyway my understanding is that when debug.composition.type=gpu it makes the phone render GPU performance only. You can change it to "cpu" or "mdp". But I got better 2d and 3d scores while rendering GPU.
I have found several more lines to add as well.
persist.telephony.support.ipv6=1
persist.telephony.support.ipv4=1
ro.config.hw_fast_dormancy=1 - Net speed wet from 2500kbs to well over 3000kbs with 3 bars of signal and wasnt as jumpy. Stayed between 2500kbs to 3500kbs constantly
ro.config.hw_power_saving=0 - disables power save feature
dalvik.vm.checkjni=0
EDIT: A few more:
ro.config.hw_quickpoweron=true - Seems to boot up faster. Not sure
ro.config.vc_call_steps=20 -----> I use 20. Default is 7. Makes more volume steps in calls and made mine a little louder.
dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags=m=v,o=y ----> makes apps load faster and frees more ram. Do not add if ROM already has it in the build.prop. Just change the last part. Try this one as well:
dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags=v=n,o=v ----> seems to load apps faster

Thanks again Chaw1985

Huge Gains
I was getting around 1735 to 1780 in antutu before I added some of these lines. I gained nearly 100 points on and the phone is definintely faster. I consistantly run 1845 to 1859 now. I have several apps insalled that were running in the background during this. And only a class 4 sdcard.
Some of the lines wont take affect unless you clear your dalvik cacheand cachethen reboot twice after adding them to the build.prop files. and there are two build.prop files just in case some people dont know. So add to one in system. Then copy it to /system/bin. Anyone care to post some feed back and show benchmark scores and after trying some of these so the rest of the community can gain from this as well? Please post what ROM you are using as well
100 points on antutu is too much to look over. Lets everyone get in on this. Make our X8s better.

Hey guys, so i have the seeArms JL2 Rom installed with the speed mod kernal.
So my question is. How do i set the values for the cpu boost. All the values have K's at the end not mhz or whatever lol so id like to know what the K's mean.
And also i follwed the instructions for the kernal and the rom so i enabled all the tweaks and lagfix options so thats all done but i just need to sort out the cpu boost values.
Hope this question makes sense.
And lastly with the lagfix whats the difference between the options ext 3 and 4. And with binds and without binds whats those all about
Thanks in advance

Hi.. just got a bravo replacing my broken x10... gonna browse a bit ... then check out some of bandroids roms etc.... then plan on theming and maybe even messing with some portting while I count down to a new phone upgrade in a couple months.. does anyone know the core files for the bravo.. aka files for signal etc hw scripts ramdisks etc

Wow.. this phone does not have active people. Fyi
Rooted phone got adb and DROID explorer running. and removed bloatware... going to start messing with speeding it up some over the next few days... maybe theming some if it to my liking

X10 had specific core files for the phone when I ported roms. Signal is one of them... vold is sdcard.. liblegacy is light.. libaudio for sound. But a handful of files where specific to x10.. you usually need. Ramdisk. . i still haven't had time to sbf and mess with files yet..
What file is in charge of boot up in the bin? It was chargemon for x10

Jargonv I thought about your question camera and kernel is the most specific part for camera fix.. in particular the ramdisk. Once you get debugging working in camera you would work on libvorbidesec to get camcorder working... how close is the defy camera to bravos?

There's a lot of ways to improve the speed and performance on our X8/W8, so here I am, sharing it to all my XDA buddies!
................................................
LEGEND:
(X) I did this to my W8!
(!) Dangerous!!
................................................
- Overclock Your Phone (X)
To speed up your phone. I recommend scaling to 729 mhz.
Doixanh's Module
- Use RAM Manager
To optimize your RAM. I recommend using option Balance (More Free Memory) for normal use, and Hard Gaming option for gaming.
Don't use it with Supercharger!
App:
Paid
Free
- Increase SD Card Read/Write Speed (X)
To increase SD card speed. I use SD-Booster to set this.
App:
Free
- Increase VM Heap Size
To increase performance. I didn't do this, because it really drains battery life.
Go to settings, click Cyanogenmod Settings, click Performance, and click VM Heap Size.
32M - More Battery Saving, Less Performance
48M - Less Battery Saving, More Performance
- Do not use task killers
If you use one, it will cause unstability to the phone. Only use one when some app is faulty or misbehaving. Android will manage its memory on its own.
App:
Paid
Free
- Use Chainfire3D For Gaming (X)
1) Use the appropriate plugins.. download it HERE
2) Increase Or Reduce Texture
To increase gaming performance
App:
Paid
Free
- Use Callibrated Render Effect For Screen (X)
To save battery and increase performance
To do that, go to Settings, to Cyanogenmod Settings, to Interface, click Screen Render Effect, and click Callibrated N1 Cool.
- Use A Custom Kernel (X)(!)
To increase performance a lot.
For the collection of kernels, click here.
- Odex A ROM
To increase internal phone memory,speed up booting time and apps.
To odex, click here.
- Use A Good Scrolling Theme (X)
A badly created theme will slow down your phone's scrolling
- Enable Jit (X)
To increase performance. Do it in Performance Settings.
- Enable KSM (Kernel Samepage Merging).
Make sure you enable this setting too (only available on some kernels) through Performance settings.
- Freeze Unused System Apps (X)
Do this to, ex: DSP Manager,Gmail,Youtube..blahblahblah.
Use ROM Toolbox or some other apps. Search in Market "Freeze Apps".
- Don't Install Too Many Unused Apps (X)
It will eat your phone memory
- Use Swap (X)
Increase RAM memory. Download Swapper or Swapper 2 from Market to swap. First unlock bootloader and install a custom kernel. Don't swap your more than 128MB for best results.
- Use Supercharger
Increase RAM memory. Depends on your phone manufacturing date.
Don't use with RAM Manager!
To supercharge, click here.
Read the instructions there. I am not very sure with this one...
- Clear SD Cache Files (X)
This will improve the speed of your phone.
App:
Paid
Free
- Install E15 Optimizer
This will make your phone much faster. Click Here
- If you can, full-wipe your phone.
This is a sure way to make your phone faster and smoother!
- And More..

Coming from the N900 phone I have came across many hacks but none quite as simple as one called Swappolube. All it does is make small changes to the kernel with in turns make the devices overall functionality smoother. The tweak is more or less explained Here.
Personally using this tweak I have personally experienced more overall responsiveness and fluidity in my XPlay. And My battery Life has been over all...better. I do not expect it to have the same effect for everyone, due to several reasons (overclocking, faulty devices, too many background services etc), but personally I have experienced phenomenal changes in my plays responsiveness, aside from using seeder.
Some Notes:
1) Using Seeder with this script may actually be very beneficial.
2) Values reset when you reboot, (I'm new to android, so I have no idea how to make this script run at boot time without using an app )
3) You will need a rooted device.
4) Use a program like "Script Manager" to run the script.
I have always wanted a N900.... even though its now 3 years old, the device has always looked nice and seemed like a neato toy to mess with. You still have that N900?

I think if u hav init.d support on ur Play u could just delete .sh extension & put it in the init.d folder. I'm sure it'll ran automaticly on boot.
Edit: Plus i think u need to add this line on the top of the script to make it ran.
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh

Thx man. Truth is I changed the values manually, then uploaded the script. I've just updated the script to include "#!/system/bin/sh".
To be certain that the script ran, simply check these files to see if the values have changed:
/proc/sys/vm/swappiness | 30
/proc/sys/vm/page-cluster | 0
/proc/sys/vm/laptop_mode | 1
/proc/sys/vm/oom_kill_allocating_task | 1
/proc/sys/vm/dirty_expire_centisecs | 0
/proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_centisecs | 0
/proc/sys/vm/dirty_background_ratio | 60
/proc/sys/vm/dirty_ratio | 95

Hate to break it to u man, but most custom rom already hav these tweaks in thier build.prop. And it does givs some smooth effect. I think it'll made the diff if it ran on stock. Then again they wouldn't hav init.d support & there's isn't an easy guide to help get that on stock. Mybe i should make 1 or not.

Figured as much. Well I guess it would only be useful on roms that haven't had the tweak. I'm using NXT LE rom which didn't have the tweak. Some values were already there but most of em weren't. :/
Mybe there's a reason why it dosent hav those tweaks. Mybe u should consult krisdee as to why.
Anyway, thanks for sharing. The best thing bout init.d support is u can just throw a bunch script & just let it ran. And just hope there's no conflict between all of them.

I am on my own heavily modified stock ROM and it has init.d support..... but for some reason the script you posted didnt work...... perhaps I can maybe manually add or change them.. Anyways thank you for sharing... perhaps we can all collectively get it working.
In the begin of the script remove: script
At the end: end script
Then it works
In rom toolbox you can set it at boot

I edited the file with your recommendations and uploaded it here. Going to test it out....
Edit: Still did not work... bummer.....
Ok. This works.
Instead of adding this,
Code:
#!/system/bin[COLOR="RED"]/sh[/COLOR]
U should only just add this.
Code:
#!/system/bin
Just delete the "/sh" mark red as above & try it with SManager. Then u can put it in init.d folder for auto ran.
Edit: Ok. It didn't ran on init.d. Need to re-write it with proper command in order to make it ran on init.d. I'll upload it when i finish it. For now just use SManager & set it on boot. I dunno why it matters though. But i'll try me best to help the community.
Edit: Its hard when no nothing. So mybe we just let those with proper knowledge re-write it for init.d support. As for now, just stick with SManager & set it on boot.
Edit: It wont work even after i set it on boot. Mybe there's some conflict with build.prop or other init.d tweaks. So need to ran it manually. Again, if this really does benefit much to us Play then we need help to add init.d support to it. So...till then..

Completely useless post, clicking thanks button is enough.
If I'm correct this script is just killing background apps as the advanced task killer does?...

No....it changes the way that memory is swapped, very slightly. It doesn't kill any tasks whatsoever. Truth is, it worked for me, if it doesn't work for others, i don't really care :/. I posted this to see if it would help others. Before this script I would loose 5 - 8% a day leaving the phone on standby. After this script, I loose 1% a day standby time, also lag all in games were significantly reduced and my phone stopped overheating too quickly. Big claims I know, but as i said, if it doesn't work for you, just move on....didn't think that getting such a simple script to work on a device would be such a pain, and frankly I'm not even gonna look into it. Far too busy with work and university.
if this is about OOM n swappiness, will it still working or get benefit if the ROM already supercharged using v6?
this build.prop edited by me

reboot
Please explain exactly what this new files does.
I think he just enabled GPU rendering(debug.composition.type=gpu) that IS NOT SOLUTION for lags, because lots of apps that didn't lag before can now lag, especially older ones. They can even ForceClose

tweak code used is
PHP:
#UI Tweaks
persist.sys.ui.hw=1
It works
For the people that don't know what permissions to set the file to:
It's -rw-r--r-- or code 644
simply check "Force GPU rendering" in developer options...
Best solution: Reboot 5-10 times...

Did you mean after 5-10 times rebooting the settings lag will be gone?
