[Q] Issues with Gmail - Kindle Fire General

Hi there, since today I have issues with gmail on my rooted kindle fire. Everything worked perfect before. Today I just opened gmail and only the home button shows a response. Also it looks like that the screen disappears to the side and comes back from the other. Scanned the KF with avast, but nothing was detected. Uninstalled gmail and installed it new. Same thing. Switched it off and turned it back on - same thing. Everything else works like it should. Just gmail. Any idea?

Are you installing from Market? Before I rooted my KF I extracted the gmail app from my phone and it worked just fine but then started having similar problems, then I rooted and installed from Market and worked like a charm (now I am on ICS and I've fallen in love with the gmail app all over again)

The KF is rooted and I installed it as described by nat3mil in the you tube videos from the Market. Everything worked fine for month, until this morning. So today I uninstalled Gmail and installed it again form the Google Market (Google Play). The new installation changed nothing. Same issue

I KNOW! The Ics tablet Gmail app is great! But to the OP, try a rooted stock rom (MoDa-something) I had the same issue before I was on cm9

It works again!!! Don't know what changed. Uninstalled and installed gmail a couple times and set up the kindle email app. All with no sucsess. But all of a sudden it worked again. So problem solved - but I don't know how

[Q] Market keeps fcing

Anyone else have issues with the android market on xoom?
have 3.2.1 and market versions 3.1.6 and if i open and hit my apps it fc's - when i try and update apps in the market it fcs
tried clearing data/cache but all that did was stop it fc'ing when i opened market - then i get fc when i go to my apps now.
xoom is not rooted - only happened in the last couple of weeks.
can still push apps to xoom from market.android.com
Clear it and do a hard reset. Mine did it too.

dont reset the whole xoom just go into app managment and clear the data for the market
do you have documents to go installed?
a few days ago, docs to go got an update and started my market fc'ing when i tried to get into my apps. ive uninstalled it and no more fc's.

yes - but it was happening before that - been happening for about 2 weeks - a few days after the OTA update after 3.2.1 came out.
i will try uninstalling
already cleared the data on the market a couple of times - helped a little bit didnt make much difference - it only helped me get into the market - still fc on my apps
Mine did once in awhile, but only when I was going between screens very quickly.

Was having the same issue. I have docs to go as well. Also had more than one account see up. One would work but the others would all fc when going to my apps. Went into apps and cleared the app data and cache for the market. Went back in and chose the account it should be using and so far no more fc.

Maybe, but I found a few app updates that the market was having a hard time digesting. I'm not sure it's your system's problem.

Market on my US WIFI only Xoom updated itself to 3.3.11 automatically and i don't see any problems with it.
I installed the 3.3.11 apk (from androidpolice.com) to my GT10.1 and it has problems, missing backgrounds, small icons and text.
So there seem to be two different versions with the same version number, one for phones and one for tablets?
My Xoom is not rooted, so i can't get the apk from it. No one else has received the Market update? Maybe someone can pull the updated Market from Xoom.
Check your available ram
I've noticed as I've loaded up the old Xoom with lots of fun apps, that my market updates/downloads will choke if my ram starts to get a bit low. Makes sense.

Hoping to shed some light on "My Apps" section of market not working

like title says, hopefully this helps with the issue.
I have been having this problem for about a week and none of the fixes have worked for me. the only thing that has worked is re flashing my ROM (decks 1.3d) and then it starts working again. I have also flashed to a sense ROM and had the same symptoms.
So today I started totally fresh with ROM and kernel. Then i nandroided before i did DTA2SD because i thought a2sd might be part of the problem. "my apps" worked for me before and after i flashed a2sd but only showed about 10 of my apps.
next I decided to uninstall facebook and reinstall to see if that would make the rest of the apps show up. Facebook was installed on my phone but was not one of the apps showing up in My apps.
Well, after i uninstalled facebook I went back to my apps and Nothing was there again. So I reinstalled facebook and still nothing. so since that didnt work I restored the nandroid from before I did a2sd and rebooted and now "my apps" are there again but only the 10 apps.
I haven't been able to figure out whats going on but this is a huge pain for me because I actually read what changed when my apps update so going to app-brain then to market and back and forth is pretty time consuming.
I don't know whats going on but hopefully this helps somebody figure something out. I come here for a lot of help so I wanted to try to contribute something
edit: I do have another google account but it has never been synced to my evo, but it was synced to my Eris. I forgot to mention that after this last reflash, when it stopped showing apps, I went to settings and synced my other Gmail account then went to market and switched to that account and my apps that I had on the Eris showed up. Of course it stopped working once I switched it back to the right Gmail account. That makes it even more strange that at the same time it was broke with one account and working with another
And I just came back to my phone, had a notification for an app update but when I clicked it took me to my apps in market but did not show the app that needed updated

I finally figured out with this issue that the market was switching Google accounts on me. If you have more than one gmail account set up, when it happens hit Menu/Accounts and make sure it's on the right one.

I've had this issue, still have it actually. Every time I switch roms. Certain roms will
automatically start downloading my apps, and certain ones will not, they don't even
show up as things that I've downloaded.
No big deal. I use Android Commander to keep all of my apps backed up.
After any combination of partitioning/wiping/flashing, even if I restore a nandroid,
I verify that my apps are installed, if not, restore my backups. Then I open the
application manager, scroll down to market, clear cache and data, then I reload
the market, hit My Apps, and they are all in the list. If they need updates, I update.
This was already mentioned, but I figured I'd mention it again for good measure,
At least I always have a copy of the apps on the off chance that I forgot to nandroid
them, or the market 'forgets' what I had. I've flashed just about every rom I can
think of for the Hero and the Evo respectively, CM, AOSP, Sense based.. Never had
any problems this way.
Just use the app "Eris market fix" from the market it was made for the Droid Eris but works on Evo too. When your apps don't show u just open it click the fix market button reboot to recovery clear cache/dalvik boot back to your Rom and go to market > my apps and they are all back, works great when your market links on tb market doctor don't fix the market which I have had issues with lately but Eris market fix has worked everytime I've used it. Hope that helps the issue at hand its fixed my market about 3 dozen times, as mine breaks everytime i flash a new Rom lately or even if I flash the same Rom I'm on.

As noted before, you do want to be careful when using more than one Google account in the Gmail app. For whatever reason, sometimes the secondary account will try to be used for your Google interactions and will cause messes like apps not showing up or not updating correctly. I say this because that is what happened to me. Once I stopped using my other account in Gmail app everything worked again.
If you go to the Market web page from a computer, what happens? Log in as your primary account, whatever you use on your Evo. If it's synced to multiple phones, you'll be able to choose which one. Oddly enough, I only have one phone on my account and it shows two - one is my phone information and the other says "unrevoked" - I think this causes some of my issues with the Market. If your apps don't show, try downloading an app that you already have on your phone. Maybe it will trigger something when you push the app to your phone. If you still have your Eris and use the same apps on both phones, this could be the problem. As a last resort you could contact Google or whatever Market support there is. I can't say that it would do much good, but it's worth a shot.

[Q] Kindle books gone

Hey guys and gals,
I have rooted my Fire per the instructions found here. All was going great. Even after the 6.2 update, I re-rooted, have installed adw launcher and the android market. I hadn't looked at my fire for about a day or so...when I unplugged it and open it today, all of my kindle books are nowhere to be found in the Amazon launcher. I can see them and read them with the ADW launcher using the android kindle app, but they don't appear on the bookshelf. I have access to all my cloud apps and music but no books.
I deactivated and reactivated to no avail. And now my @kindle email address does not connect either.
Any chance there has been some change when it comes to root and the Kindle books?
I did use the Fire this morning to "rent" a book to check that out and it was working fine as well. Now nothing.
Just wondering if anyone else has any issue with the same.
Thanks,
Scott
Figured it out....
I had updated the kindle app through the android market and it changed the kindle store and everything in the main launcher. Don't know why, but be warned if you are using both platforms. All is back to normal now.

make sure you open up google play, and go to the kindle app on there that it says you should update and click off on auto update, that was a problem for me. luckily i was able to get the apk from one of the threads in here.

Awesome, this just happened to me yesterday, was wondering whether I was going to have to reset the darn thing...
Thanks! I'm surprised that Google Play was even able to update it in the first place. Usually apps won't cross-update, at least in my experience. I always get odd errors if I try to update from Play for an app I've downloaded off of the Amazon Appstore, on my Kindle and on my phone.
So which version are you on now? I had the same problem because I made the mistake of letting the android market update my kindle app, and I've bounced back and forth a couple of times between V3.5.1.1 and 4.something. It kept updating itself, so I finally deleted the 4.??? version from Ti Backup, and now I can't seem to go home.

Twitter issues w/ CM7

Not sure if related but my friend from the UK told me he was having the same problem trying to log in to the regular site from his PC for the past few days. But if he sends a ping request it goes through just fine.

Yes I do.
I've looked through Twitter's settings on the PC and I can't find anything that may be blocking it from allowing my Kindle Fire. All apps are listed as granted access. Also my Nexus S 4G connects to Twitter using any app just fine.
But funny enough, I now remember that when I installed Swiftkey Tablet X on my Kindle Fire, it couldn't connect to Twitter to "learn" from my Tweets. Weird...
No problems using plume but my fire is stock.

My twitter id is Rickywilson, I noticed instead of my pic and twitter info my phone shows the lead singer of the Kaiser Chiefs stuff. He is Ricky Wilson as well but his id is rickontour.
Apparently whatever cm7 uses for twitter will not use my account only his. its driving me nuts because my contact info shows his pic and tweets.
its mainly on my texts and other apps, whatever he puts up it changes my phone stuff. its all very confusing.
STILL can't use the Twitter app on CM7. What gives?

I haven't been able to use it, since I flashed CM7, but by looking at this thread, it seems to be a random issue; but has anyone solved this problem?

A Strange App appeared in my installed apps

Hi guys,
i have a strange app in my google play installed app list.
I attached a screenshot so you can see.
It seems in some way connected to the Polaris Office, when I launch it Polaris lauch, when I disable Polaris via applications panel the Open Button in the Google Play panel disappears. (It is "Apri" in italian in this screenshot)
Some of you guys is experiencing this ?
I am not rooted and I have not sideloaded any app, always used Android Market...
Any clues ?

Happened to me as well, I think this should be reported to Google and Infraware ASAP.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565900
I'm un-rooted running totally stock and I had the app show up also. Not sure what it is, but I know I haven't installed anything I do not recognize.
Can confirm this as well on ARHD 3.1.0
I'm running US stock rooted and don't see anything like that on mine. It looks Korean though.
Maybe it's something the Polaris Office app or another stock app fetched recently. My Polaris Office app is not allowed access to the Internet.
I have this too. How do we investigate this further? I've reported it on the market but not comfortable having some unknown app which can not be uninstalled...
I also have this app and when I open it it runs the fille explorer in polaris office

This scenario sounds plausible, but it makes me wonder now why I don't have it. I am on stock and have uninstalled none of the prepackaged apps.
It's an app that is installed somehow onto the tablet. It is not uninstallable (using normal methods). It is somehow linked to Polaris Office.
If you root your phone, install Titanium Backup and then uninstall Polaris Office, then the app will disappear.
Strangely, I got this appear today for first time on my WW TF101 B60. I went back to stock ICS 403 using NVFlash and it said immediately after login that there was an update (from ASUS), which i installed. Upon login, I opened Google Play and saw this app for first time. I then install Titanium Backup (After rooting) and uninstalled Polaris office and the app went away.
I do not know where this app comes from, because I have reset it again with nvflash, checked market and it wasnt there, then applied ASUS update and checked market and still not there, even though Polaris office is still installed.
Weird
Hmm.. I'm stock and unrooted as well (always have been) with all updates, just checked my apps and I do NOT have this app in my list.
I wonder where you guys are getting it from..
Stock, unrooted B40 (is and always has been) and I have this app on my list in Google Play.
I'm pretty sure it's a bug with the new renamed Market failing to identify apps correctly.
I suppose it is a bug yes!
It just disappeared from my installed Apps.
yea i think its similar to this
