Hi all, i've been all over the internet including the gameloft forums and cant find a fix.
Gameloft support are useless, every time i ask a question they send a free game (yes i'm complaining), without an answer.
I want NOVA 2 to work.
The game crashes after the intro video, i see a loading logo music starts then it just closes, not warning error or nothing.
Is it just my Xperia Play? i know other people have had this problem but its seems to be small majority.
I'm in the UK.
I have a sim free Xperia play with a T Mobile contract.
I have Version 1.0.2 of NOVA 2.
2.3.3 Android
I am not rooted or unlocked.
All my other gameloft games work fine.
Could it be another app causing the problem?
Any advice or help would be great, i am going slightly mad with this problem.
Blonqe.
Play another game
Works ok for me.
The look control sucks anyway. What the hell? We have to slide it like a track ball. That sucks badly when some is shooting you in the back.

Yep. Gameloft need to sort the look controls to work like a control pad and not a touchscreen for all their fps games.
@OP Downgrade to 2.3.2 and all Gameloft games work fine.
Not true, I bought it first day of release and back then I was still on 2.3.2. Same problem as I still have today!
Ok.
Solution then -
When you see nothing but black screen, hold down the home key and then select Nova 2.
Or hit the home key to go to home, then hold the home key and select Nova 2.
Gameloft black screens are fixed simply by reselecting the game without actually exiting it.
Rainbow 6 is a good game

Thanks for the solution, unfortuantly I have tried this, works for modern combat 2 but not nova 2.
Like I say the game loads I hear some music while the loading screen is on, then it justs knocks off!
I'm clueless and I think gameloft are too, thise forum was my last go at finding a solution :-(

I have the same issue, I've found any solution: uninstall, reinstall, reset settings of the phone, nothing. Crash after the video intro and go back immediately on the home screen. I have a play in 2.3.2 with gingerbreak.

If you publish the logcat of the whole process from opening the app to the FC, there may be a chance to see what's going on.
Dorry to be a complete noob, where do I find the logcat and hoq do I obtain it?
Step but step would be appreciated.

How many of you have problems with the game?
It hangs when I start a new game
It actually loads until the part where the character appears on screen and when it loads all the navigational pad and buttons, it hangs
I thought this was updated for SGS2 already?

Yeah...No.
Lemme explain:
The app was updated to work with the GS2,but at first it didn't work properly(Or in my case didn't work at all, like it does for you.Unless you believe that it works like what you describe). It closed just after selecting my character, like when I ran it with CF3D.
Sometime yesterday though a second update was released, that clearly stated that Galaxy S II users should completely uninstall and then reinstall to update. After that ,it does work. It's still buggy though,it lags and it closes randomly sometimes,But hey,it's a first step in the right direction!
When it hangs the music is still playing in the background
Interestingly, the main menu, at the bottom right corner, the version is still 5.0
I already downloaded the 5.3.1 version...

That reminds me of when I tried to play the game on my DHD with the nVidia plugin(didn't know that a Qualcomm version was available,I thought it was Tegra-only).It hanged when first showing the level, music played, but all I could see was a door.Nothing would move.
So,try uninstalling, deleting the files from /sdcard/Adroid/data/com.trendy.ddapp.xxx(don't remember exactly the name) if they aren't automatically deleted, and then reinstall anew from market.Hope that fixes it.
Doesn't work... I uninstall via "Manage Applications" and the folder in sdcard\android\data\com.trendyXXXXXXXX was already removed
Redownloaded via market, wifi-ed the additional files again, also same situation
I don't understand it, if I can play Samurai II, why can't this work.... got CF3D running on nvidia plugin too!

That's the problem! You shouldn't be using the NVidia plugin! The game works with no plugin now.Tegra version has problems for other handsets.
It does work, though your might need to uninstall the app first.
It runs perfect on mine. no shutdowns whatsoever.
Except that after a few waves, the round move cursor gets extremely hot. (near the front face camera).

I can confirm the insane heat at the camera area

Yeah. It would have been hotter if not for the heat sink in the phone.
It's a but unnerving pushing intense graphics on the phone though.

This game is poorly optimized. It runs like crap on any phone, even Tegra 2 phones.

while the release version on our Plays may not have that provision yet, I have seen videos of the 2 new sony tablets both playing Crash Bandicoot with onscreen controls. So they are there somewhere, maybe disabled, or waiting for the next release.
Who would want to play it on anything other than the play? Unless you enjoy struggling to press buttons.

Maybe the new Sony tablets will have space on the bottom of the screen for a virtual controller? It doesn't make sense to take real estate away from the game for controls.

IIRC the demo I saw had virtual PS controller buttons to the bottom right and left of the screen in the "black bar" area, since PSX games are SD and the tablet is HD.

I guess you can enable on-screen controls using psxperia, but the don't work yet.

Hey... If the PSXperia games work on Cyanogen Mod by installing a certain APK (pre-installed service?), could someone try to install that APK in another phone with Cyanogen and see if it works?
You CAN enable on screen controls but they do not work properly, they show up on the screen but they dont do anything. I will attach a pic.
Also you can install custom PS1 games on other android phones but you need to install another apk before you do it, I think its called essentialservices.apk or somthing like that... the name escapes me xD

I haven't even figured out how to get the app to come up when I have a game loaded. The 3 button command list seems to need you to have already brought it up once in that app.
If someone can explain how to do that I'd gladly spend some time messing with it.

yeah thats where i'm having my issue
Dev told me I could create a custom command using OUYA buttons, but I couldn't figure it out. He is working really hard on the app and has frequent updates, but no tutorials or help pages. He needs to take a break and show people how to use it a little more clearly. I spent an afternoon working with it and gave up.
I think it would probably work best to do the button mapping on a touch screen device and export it. It will probably still need to be tweaked on OUYA though. I have seen people take interest in the app on other forums only to be frustrated and give up.

I am trying to figure it out too. I want to put games like subway suffers and temple on the Ouya for my daughter. Tried setting up a profile on my galaxy tab, and it works, sometimes. I can get left to go left once, but then the other buttons, like going right or jumping/sliding doesn't work for a few seconds. Makes it very hard to use.
I had to watch a few YouTube videos before figuring out that you have to name the profile first, then hit refresh a few times, then press a button on your controller to make it appear on the screen. After that you can select what you want it to do. Can't figure out how to make it do a store command though.
I tried making a profile for final fantasy iii as well, but once I hit a fiction, it stayed pursuing that direction after I let go. I think maybe I just haven't found the right option yet.
I see it has an update in the play store, so maybe I will try again.

I have spent a few hours :crying: on this and I seem to be having some success. I have found when configuring stick 0 or stick 1 on the ouya controller, I have to check the box that swaps the X and Y axis along with checking the box to invert the x axis. I have attached a profile for minecraft that seems to be working. Feel free to give it a try (remove the .txt extension when importing).
The developer is flying blind developing for OUYA. He doesn't think he'll recoup his cost in sales to OUYA users. I'm at a loss for why anyone would buy the app right now.
Another thing I'm remembering that really aggravated me when trying the app. It took me quite some time to learn that when configuring the controls you have to click the check mark to register every change.
If someone could create a default controller scheme for the sticks and d-pad, and the home, menu, and back buttons it would be great so we all could build on that. If everyone maps those most basic buttons the same, it will make sharing profiles easier. Then there is the matter of enabling keymapper in game.
If this thread starts generating enough interest the dev will probably pop in for a visit. Then perhaps he can code in a shortcut combo for the controller to open the app in game.

The app was free in the play store when I downloaded it. There is an option to support the dev though a donation which unlocks a couple of features, but the free version supports the features I need. I have been able to map games from the play store once I found out how to use the keymapper. The auto load profile is pretty sweet when it works... I may end up with a profile for every non ouya game and launcher that I installed from the play store ((Netfix and WatchESPN). IMHO using any non ouya app with the ouya controller sucks.

The important feature that is, or was, locked in the free version is analog stick support. For whatever reason in games that natively support the analog stick but nothing else ,Tincore overrides that and then you need to pay to enable it within Tincore in order to map the buttons and use the stick. Since I'm primarily interested in driving and racing game support, that makes it a no go for me until I have a clear understanding of how to map the controls and enable it on OUYA without spending a lot of time and doing workarounds.

Do i just load this up in load profile and then go into minecraft and it will work? I don't play minecraft but I'm wondering if it's that easy.
Almost forgot as for the dev saying that he won't be able to recoup his losses I don't get that. I'm all about supporting a dev but if I supported every dev that had a half working app that I would like to play then I'd be broke. If he makes a paid app with instructions and works on some games I'm all about it

As others have said, one of the major difficulties with Tincore on OUYA is that you need to launch it within game. The apps shortcuts are created for phones our tablets.

Launch the app and import the profile. Once it loads you should see the button layout on the screen and the minecore profile name at the top of the tincore options. From there just click the check mark beside the profile name and the app should be sent to the background. If you close the app with the "X" at the top, the tincore app will not be running and your controller will default back to the standard ouya layout. Next open minecraft and use the touch pad to click play and to create a world. Once the game loads up, you use the control sticks to move/look around.
At first I had a USB keyboard connected to the ouya and to launch keymapper when in a game I would use the vol down/vol up/vol down shortcut to bring up the tincore app. After getting a couple of games working and building a profile for Nova Launcher, I went into tincore settings and changed the shortcut to lunch the app from the default vol keys on the keyboard to buttons o/u/y on the ouya controller and I am able to make changes to the tincore app without the keyboard being connected.
It is late and I rambled on long enough... let me know if you get stuck. Once I figured out the basics of the app it has been easy to configure new button layouts.
besides tincore, anyone try using any other touch to gamepad app like gamekeyboard (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fishstix.gameboard&hl=en) and sixaxis? Tincore is a pain to use with the vague instructions & videos. I'd like to know what kind of success people have had mapping touch controls to a gamepad and on what app.
Hi,
It is soo difficult to find threads lost in different forums.
If people gather in one place we could organize a wiki or something.
I would like to know what do you find difficult to understand. Once you understand the pattern it is all the same I think.
To invoke the app without notification you need to set "Open mapper on sequence". It is a sequence of 3 keys (the 3 can be the same).
select -> select -> select for instance because Ouya does not have volume buttons. If you have a spare button you can set execute function and then on Key you select MAPPER.

Here are a few hints I have found... Make sure auto profile is disabled. Also, when you launch the app from the home screen, use the key sequence that is setup to minimize the app (don't click the check mark or the X to minimize tincore. Once you launch another app you should be able to use the key sequence again to bring tincore back up.
This is pretty cool, thought I'd start a list of games that work great with Tincore Keymapper. It seems you have to have root to get it to work.
So far I've got these games mapped and work great:

GT Racing 2

maybe @tincore knows?
Root is required, because otherwise you can't map touch input buttons to hardware gamepad buttons.
Since not all developers take care of external gamepad support, sometimes, it is necessary to remap touch activity to a hardware key.

Rooting is needed to simulate touches and more. Those are Android limitations.
Another option would be a custom modified firmware.

Yep.
I've been able to get my PS3 controller to pair through Sixaxis which was pretty cool. I'd forgotten how light the PS3 control is after using the CTRLR for so long.
Anyhow, I followed a few of the videos on YouTube to get myself started. I cannot get the CTRLR to show up as a detected device. Strangely, I was able to set my button combination to get tincore running within the app (so the button presses registered then), but the combination doesn't bring up tincore when I'm in a game. I really like how your app works (from the videos), so I'd appreciate any info or insight on getting it up on the MOJO!
Seriously, though, your app looks pretty awesome. Once I get it working, I'll throw down some cash and buy it.

I haven't had any issues really with tincore. Whenever I started the app, the CTRLR was already loaded in the column - as well as any other devices such as a mouse. All I had to do was put the controller in gamesmart mode to get my buttons out there on screen, then switch back to mouse mode and place each button/control where I wanted them and then went to the column and chose how I wanted the button presses to react. Although, I could never get the app to work within a game. I didn't know how to do that. I would always just load the game, then go back to the homescreen and then back to tincore to make my adjustments.

In the case of devices without touchscreen you can use a key sequence to invoke the mapper on top of the app. Default sequence is Vol- Vol+ Vol- and it should work from the CTRLR.
