If this has been answered I apologize in advance, I've looked everywhere.
I know to get Google Talk on the ticker you have to add it to the IM app. But when I try to log into Talk in the IM app, it gives me a bad password or username error. I know both are correct and it's throwing me off. The only thing I cannot try is to drop the @gmail.com but it adds it automatically.
EC07 Clean and debinged.
Thanks.
Nevermind
I just noticed Sammy did not integrate the email and IM ticker well enough to matter, just because its a hassle.
Ec07 is a leak. Eco9 might be more stable. Trailblazer101 has ticker mod for Google voice.
Edit. You were talking about gtalk. Sorry
Redit. Just signed in with gtalk through ticker mod ec09

gonna work on EC09, EC07 (Clean at least) is giving me a dialer wake lock. Phone won't sleep.

I have searched around and have found its somewhat of a "known issue" that on AOSP ROMs you have to use either third party sms/mms app or a modified version to prevent the text notifications from //9016. This I'm fine with but I'm a REALLY big fan of the VVM for checking voicemail instead of calling and listening that way.
Is there any way to get VVM working on an AOSP ROM? I'm currently on Bubs AOSP Magic Original 0.4.1 and digging it, the VVM app is there and a past voicemail is also there but i'm not getting anything new. I just feel like there must be SOME way to accomplish it and still keep the AOSP goodness.
devs must know what component is not in AOSP that is in Samsung stock which causes this, i'd love a patch or something for it. thanks all
I take it you didn't read the hole thread. I posted a fix someone ago. Try searching harder. I'm sick and tired of repeating my self 2-3 times a week in that thread alone and now you started a new one

Easiest way to do this is to go to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797239
Under Add-ons and patches download "Stock MMS/SMS", and apply the zip in recovery. I'm currently using Bub's AOSP Magic ROM and this worked for me. However, I have read that this may change your calendar from the AOSP calendar to stock. Hope that helps.

thanks, i'm already using handcent to block the texts. i was going to respond to lord douchicus up above there but thought not to. i was using Bubs 0.2 earlier and had this issue, clearing data from the VVM app seemed to work but only temporarily. and he didnt actually answer me in that thread, i read it over. so i tried it again and it seems like its working now, we'll see though, thanks for the help.
is this solution supposed to fix the VVM by receiving the text messages? or is it just to block the texts, thanks
Why should I waste my time posting the fix that had been posted x amount if times when you didn't spend no time looking for the awnser.

Running the dj05 with the new incognito theme and my 3g icon keeps turning into the visual voicemail icon.. Weird..
Its not affecting anything and the rom is running fine..beautiful actually..its just..weird lol
Any one experiencing this or found a fix?
And yes I did check my voicemail -_- lol
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Just saw your post looking thru some older ones and although I don't have an answer or solution, I just wanted to let you know I saw it too running the same combo. I thought I was seeing things so I took a screenshot and captured it. I went to a different theme and it's gone now - but I just wanted to tell you you're not crazy!
You probably should have posted it as a bug on the incognito theme thread for the dev to fix his theme.
Okay, well I have a notifier for my phone that sends notifications to my computer whenever I get a text. I recieved a text today and it showed on the notifier on my computer, however, it never showed up on my phone itself, it was like I never received the text in the messaging app itself. This has happened many times before today.
Any ideas as to why?
You will need to post more information about rom, theme, system apps etc., before anyone can help you.
I bet it is either to do with mismatched kernel or more likely custom dns servers. But then, I avoid mms at all costs, so I wouldn't know.
+1 for google voice.
PS. Maybe you wanted a better answer. Best I can do; I just make a conscious effort to avoid letting any polite post sit too long at 0 if I see it, because I know that sucks.
Swyped w/ XDA App. When in doubt, mumble.
Mine was doing the same thing the other day after putting the original dj05 leak on. It wouldn't show up a notification until I opened up my messages app. I believe it has something to do with the kernel. I tried to flash another kernel and it wouldn't allow me to through cwm. So i just wiped everything and put a new rom with a new kernel built and everything works fine now. I did all of this through rom manager and cwm. Hope this helps.
I'm running the D02 Voodoo Kernel but other than that everything is stock, this was happening even before I started using this kernel, I can't go to DJ05 cuz I own a Mac, but i don't know what's wrong.
I hear the notification sound but no message ever goes into my inbox or shows in the notification bar.
Anyone know what's wrong?
Oh and it doesn't happen every time, just once in a while.
Sorry if this is a stupid problem but I can't seem to find out how to turn geotagging off now that I've updated to 2.2. Can anyone help me out? I couldn't find anything about it in the epic forums, but sorry in advance if this has already been discussed.
I don't know either I just have GPS off till I need it though
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
My GPS is off also. That's why I'm so confused. I keep looking in the settings for the Camera and there's nothing there about a stored location either.
Just went to settings>location/security>turned off use wireless network and it turned the geotagging off, but also screwed my weather channel app. the lulz do not belong to me
I could have sworn the option was available in the camera menu in dk28. Why would they remove that?

It was gone in DK28. It had it in DI18 though. Sadly EB13 doesn't give you an option to shut it off.
im sure if you root that can be addressed with another cam version.... but I would suspect it lower priority... but im sure it will annoy someone enough into 'fixing' it.... wheres the other tinfoil hatters????
EB13 doesn't let you shut off geotagging?
That is a huge lawsuit waiting to happen. People can use it to track you location - ie. posting an update on Facebook or whatever. Bad if you have a stalker. It also lets others figure out you aren't home -- various reasons why some people would like to know that.

it dont take a geo tag for someone to realize your not home when u post a facebook update with a pic... or without for that matter...
The problems is the geo tag telling where your home is in the first place.

These picture hosting services such as Facebook, picasa, twitpic, flikr - they should all strip EXIF data on the upload any ways.
I have a PHP script that removes it that I made at work. It's not like its hard. They should at least have an option to not store location info.
Can't blame it all on the phone.
Try Geo Eraser on the market.
More importantly (and I can't believe no one has mentioned this), the unnecessary battery drain of geotagging. These things EAT BATTERIES big time. Why drain the battery even further unneccessarilly?!?!?!?
It bothers me too. the option as only there in 2.1
Google is getting a little comfty with having peoples data.
Like that whole wifi-passwrd fiasco while they were "updating street view for google earth" while stealing AND STORING your passwords, networks, webpages, etc......

As we all know Gingerbread has been in the oven... And I was one of those people who could not wait for it to cool off. As soon as I saw the leak early saturday morning, I was already downloading. what could go wrong, right? I odin'd the ef02.tar, started her up and wow, she's beautiful, save the extra ugly 4g symbol in the window sill (notification bar) that looks even worse now than previous desserts.
Keep in mind this is a stock .tar. No root. No cwm. No nothing. Except bloat. Low and behold my beautiful lil girl had a very serious functionality flaw. After my first reboot, no more incoming phone calls :^(...
So I've tried everything, I gained root, installed cwm 3.1.0.1 wiped data, cache, dalvik multiple times. Re odin'd the .tar. Flashed Decad3nce's odexed and deodexed roms. Updated modems. Tried frozen on ec05, took a shot at simply AOSP, odin'd a stock ec05, even went all the way back to eb13, with cwm 2.5 (changing file systems when needed) now I'm back to a bone stock ec05 from the stickies in development... Still no incoming phone calls. I called sprint technical and they were unable to resolve the issue.
Funny thing is I can make calls, I have data (3&4g), I can text, just won't receive.
Has anybody else seen anything remotely close to this. If so please comment, if not, comment anyways. I wanna get some opinions on my situation.
P.S. feel free to laugh at my short comings, lord knows just thinking about it brings chuckles to my mind...

Something kinda similar is happening to me. It was after flashing marcusaunts i1 rom, i lost the ability to receive texts, i can send them though. Im not sure if i can make calls, but i can receive them. i have to press one to accept every call though. Im calling sprint soon, its been like this for 3 days.
Have you tried reprovisioning under Settings>About Phone>System Updates>update profile

You know, i did install google voice. But ive installed it multiple times until now, so i figured it was unrelated. But this past time it did take my texts through there, which had never happened before. thats why i uninstalled it. Im gonna check that out and see if it fixes it. Good luck with your issues.
Sounds like you clicked yes to Sprint integration (ports your number temporarily to google). So they go to your google voice account, however you can check an option to have them sent also to your phone as well (although if you do this with google voice installed you will probably get 2 notifications per 1 sms). Also call screening is an option that is enabled by default, option in google voice (desktop web interface). I had to turn that off too (the press 1 thing). Hope this helps, its just options. Also you could go online and disable the integration and go back to normal.
EDIT: Also make sure your phone is listed to receive calls in the web interface (via a desktop). I know it should do this by default but maybe it didn't for god knows what reason?

Uninstalling it won't do anything. You must deactivate it via voice settings at voice.google.com frm a pc. (Or dolphin w desktop ua)

I had disabled it, it just took a bit. but its all working again Thanks so much man.
I remember when I did that... Sat there for an hour pulling out my hair before I realized I needed to click the number on the right side of the GoogleVoice Page to change the settings. Not my proudest moment.
Yea, I think if multiple people on smart enough to flash a rom get confused I think google needs to make thinks a bit easier to understand. Glad I could help.
The GV set up options really suck. i already have a gv number and always have to go into the desktop voice application and disable the integration.

I just came back from the sprint store, and none of there techs could give me anything in depth about google voice. They just said it was beta and somewhat "finneky" however my phone works perfect now. I had to use a pc at the store while I was warranting my samsung dock (fyi don't use desk dock with any charger other than tge one provided)
