Help GB/ICS baseband unknown - Vibrant General

The Baseband problem started when I flashed ICS euphoria from toxic 9.
I tried stock>cm7 initials>ICS passion> euphoria>slim, stock>jetpack the same problem IMEI is 004999010640000 or unknown.
The efs folder contains lost + found folder and unable to delete it. I also tried EFS pro to restore EFS. But nothing works coz the nv_data.bin is used and generated by some process. I will attach the nv log file.
Help !!! I am stuck in froyo (The IMEI NO is correct and the phone works in froyo coz nv_data.bin can be replaced easily)

Solved it by deleting all the files in EFS folder and replacing it with back up files.
The phone should be in flight mode. Then restart the phone.

Possible tip - Solved my IMEI restore problem

Sorry if this has already been suggested to those that messed up the IMEI during an unlock.
I thought I had lost (or didn't make) my backup nv_data.bin file. But I discovered that days earlier I must have inadvertently backedup that file in sdcard/ProductCodeCheck. Apparently this is from SGS tools?
If others are in the same boat looking for backup nv_data.bin files, try looking there.
Then I removed everything from my efs (with backup) and placed the earlier nv_data.bin file in efs and rebooted. I got back my original IMEI.

Cannot replace nv_data.bin

Hello all,
first to all who will say I must read the forum for problem solving - I did but from all the info out there it was simply too much. So I decided to start a thread in the hope that somebody will be able to help me.
So I have a corrupted nv_data.bin in my /efs folder but I still have backup of this file. But only this file.... I know - totaly dumb... I installed new JPX and after trying to change the product code from KOR to MOT (Slovenia) I accidentaly deleted nv_data.bin. I of course tried to replace it thru Astro Mate (I did had rooted phone - Darky's 6.0 was working fine ) but everytime I tried copiing this file tt didn't copy actualy - It said copied but the old file remained there - I know this because the Productcode didn't change. So I deleted the file thinking that this will help and tried to copy again. To my bad luck it didn't. I tried to copy and everytime a new file was created instead. also renaming a bakup file in this folder was not succesfule - it said Fald to rename file nv_data.bak. Since then my SIM card is not recognized and when I check what Baseband version I have it it written Unknown. So I tried even with ADB Shell, use busybox and when I eneter cp /sdcard/nv_data.bin /efs it says Now enough free space??? So I don't know anymore what to do. Does somebody have an idea what I can try to solve this? Please please please? I will donate to the one who helps me saving my SGS.
Thanks,
Borut
Hi !
This is because the file is used by the system.
Safest method:
- Reboot into recovery (make sure you have root in recovery)
- do what do need to do in recovery
- Reboot in normal state
In recovery phone / baseband / RIL are not started.
so you mean when I boot in recovery i can copy the file using adb shell? Or how do you mean I can do what I must do?
I have done it before while the phone is on, but you have to enter flight mode, set the correct owner and rights and reboot afterwards.
Well, regarding ownership and stuff like that - I'm a tootal noob
Help please NV_Data.BIN

Please help -
I am not sure what to do now. I changed the rom on my phone to put 2.2 on it a while back. I never saved any of the files because I was not aware to. Now I am trying to go back to stock already used the one click Odin program and I have the original stock firmware on it. But when I try to update via kies mini it will not show up. I have searched And found multiple postings related to the fact that the product id and imei could be incorrect and you would need the original nv_data.bin file. I have searched through windows explorer on the phone but can't seem to locate one. Is there any way that I can get a copy of the original folder for /efs/nv_data.bin and any other files that are needed?
I have the Samsung Captivate on AT&T currently running 2.1
BaseBand: I897UCJF6
Kernel Version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Build number: ECLAIR
You need to check your IMEI matches your original .
You have stock rom stock as in not the network supplied firmware that came with the phone ..
Windows explore is no good you need something like root explorer .#
I can get a copy of the original folder for /efs/nv_data.bin and any other files that are needed? Not unless you saved them they are phone specific .
Worth doing a factory reset before you make any step as that may solve your problem .

how do I check the original imei? I didn't backup the files as I was not advised to in the information I found online at the time (couple months back). I have done a factory reset via the phone (privacy settings) a couple times now and still when I plug into kies it tells me Unregistered device.
This is very simple to fix if you have nv_data.bak in the EFS folder.
If that file is present then you can safely delete nv_data.bin and reboot the phone.
A new nv_data.bin will be generated.
how do i know if I have nv_data.bak? where on the phone would I find it and how?

It should be in the efs folder (unless you've done something to delete it). As said by JJEgan, you will need root explorer. Navigate to it in the efs folder and copy it to the external sd card and then keep it safe somewhere.
how do I check the original imei?
Its on the box and or with the receipt .

How can I restore IMEI from backup?

Hi,
I've flashed a new ROM, and found that my IMEI is now 004999010640000 (Generic)
I have a backup of my efs folder.
How do I restore it from the backup?
It looks like when I delete the efs folder, the system recreates it automatically...
What's the way to do it?
Thanks
Gil
I fixed this problem and it took me 4 hours to fix it!
Your real IMEI show on under the battery where you see the model phone.
You need to copy the numbers (without the / if u have this) to this website http://www.adamek.biz/md5-generator.php this website make ur imei to md5 .
After you have created the md5 go to efs folder via root explorer and you need to see the file (.nv_data.bak.md5 or nv_data.bak.md5) On this file you see the md5 of the currety copy the md5 u created to the files and close everything and restart ur phone
I already have a working efs backedup
I already have a working efs backed up!
The thing is that when I copy the files from the backup on the efs folder, they get reverted automatically... I don't know what's doing it...
The backup date is older than the current files... this might be the problem...
but how do I make it work?
Is the security and permissions set up correctly on your backup efs?

Did you tried to delete the folder and replace the efs folder backup?
I think you have to copy both the files and the hidden files (starting with a dot) from your backup..
The files with a dot are there to prevent you from accidentally deleting your originals and be left with nothing
The only files I see are:
1) .nv_state
2) bluetooth
3) imei
4) lost+found
5) nv.log
6) nv_data.bin
7) nv_data.bin.md5
Should I choose the file that says: "nv_data.bin.md5"?
If you have backuped your efs folder, this thread can help you:

I think there is a lot of confusion going on around here... so just to be clear...
What file should I have in my efs backup, including the hidden one?
Thanks!
No backup of EFS folder. I believe it was during my attempt to backup that I corrupted the folder.

EFS corrupetd: can't restore backupped folder

It seems that, for somehwat reason, my IMEI corrupted after switching back from TMo UK to my italian carrier. I couldn't connect to the radio right after having landed.
I did a backup of EFS folder about 1 year ago.
However, copyng nv_data.bin and imei folder from the backup to /efs folder, and changing the permissions (chown set to "radio"), didn't work.
I still get "baseband unknown" and no IMEI.
I tried using Root Explorer and adb: the result is the same.
What am I missing?
Thanks in advance
restore a nand with non corrupted efs folder, if that fails odin back to stock and work your way back up to kk.
Yep, I eventually ODIN'ed to stock.
I wonder why I couldn't restore my backup of EFS folder...

[Q] lenovo A328 imei & baseband is null

imei is invaild in lenovo A328
someone help
give imei restore zip file
or any other way to fix this
root phone, install busybox, repair your imeis with mtkdroidtools.
BR,
Step by Step Answer
Ok so I'm sleepless after an all night session from having the same issue with my partners a369i, many fruitless attempts to fix it until I did the research into why this happened so here's a basic tutorial and the final fix which works for all lenovo's...
Custom roms on lenovos wipeout the 'NVRAM' where the imei is stored resulting in 'Sim not detected'.
You will find 3 main ways to change the imei but they will all fail if you deleted the NVRAM (took me 7 hours to work this out for myself!). Roms generally don't contain the NVRAM files because then every device using the same roms would have a duplicate IMEI, It could take some searching online to find the nvram backups (ian if you still have the issue i am expecting delivery of an a328 later today and can send the files if you PM me.)
ANYONE READING THIS BEFORE FLASHING TO A CUSTOM ROM USE THE STEPS BELOW TO FIRST BACKUP YOUR NVRAM (backup is directly above the restore function). I strongly recommend doing all the following with no sims installed, I rebooted with sims after flashing NVRAM but before changing the imei and i was given a harsh onscreen warning by my network operator that i was using an invalid imei.
Use this only to fix a broken imei with your phones original legal imei's, please do not use for fraudulent purposes to clone or fake an imei
search online or ask a friend with the same model of Lenovo to backup their NVRAM (you will have a duplicate of their imei which can be changed in the final step), you will have a bin file and a tar file hopefully.
I recommend reflashing your device to ensure you are starting fresh.
Download and install 'SuperSU' for root access, no root no fix!
Download to your PC MTKDROID Tools
Connect your device via usb in debugging mode it should be detected by mtkdroid tools in <30 seconds.
Click the 'ROOT' button in mtkdroid to get full root and this allows the application to have terminal access to the device.
when the indicator box is green (ie not blue or yellow) now click the NVRAM / Imei button to open the next screen.
Extract your downloaded backup NVRAM files to your desktop, in the mtkdroid nvram screen go to restore and browse for your backup files. It will flash almost instantly with nothing else to click, you now have created the folder structure and correct files to allow an emei change, you don't need to reboot your phone at this step but if you like you can do so and see that you have gone from a null emie to the one in the backup files.
You can now use the 2 text boxes in mtkdroid tools to enter your own valid imei, click 'CHANGE'.
The process is now complete you can reboot the phone to detect the new emei, i recommend doing this without sims installed for the first boot, once verified in android you can install the sims and use as normal.
issue for fixing imei
Hi guys,
above methods are not working for my lenovo a328. Please help us guys.
Root your phone.
Install ROOT EXPLORER.
Navigate to DATA folder, locate NVRAM folder and delete all of its content!
First set permission to data folder to RW or else it won't let you delete any files...
Reboot your phone.
Now A328 should generate the correct IMEI.
Good luck!
If anyone needs a NVRAM, this Russian forum thread has all of them. but it requires registration.
Reuploaded a328 NVRAM on mediafire
