I'm running the latest version of ParanoidAndroid, and noticed that there is a lot of noise in a lot of the photos that I take.
I am thinking it might have to do with the sharpness of the image. Is there a way to reduce sharpness in ICS?

Anyone??

I don't think there is any good fixes for the ICS camera as we are still missing kernel 3.0.
Sent from my DHD.
Kernel 3.0 won't solve this necessarily on sense 4.0 ROMs though
Desire S • Fallout V2.0.0 • xda premium
I'm running IceColdSandwich and the camera quality is just as good as CM and even better than stock ROM. The over-sharpening algorithm in stock ROM camera used to introduce a lot of artifacts in photos and they didn't look so good. ParanoidAndroid's base is existz's aospX ROM, and the camera works fine in that too, so it shouldn't be any different for you. There's currently no option in ICS cameras to adjust sharpness. Try running the camera in tablet mode, is there a setting then?

Is it possible that using camera.apk from IceColdSandwich or CM would improve photo quality on Revolutionhd rom? I'm getting blurred photos almost everytime
have u tried uCam.apk ?
very good camera app.

That wouldn't work. Revolution HD is a Sense ROM and the Sense framework is different from AOSP. So CM, AOKP and MIUI cameras won't work. Try using another app though as suggested above. I have Camera Zoom FX which works great.
Using uCam already. Great app. Phoyos are good enough, much better than stock cam app.
I used Camera Zoom FX before. Quality was the same as original
Hey guys after coming from my Nexus which took terrible photos I would like to use the s3 to take some photos of the kids etc. I have bought photo fx previously and am wondering how this compares to the default camera app? What settings do you guys recommend like HDR burst shot etc? Thanks for any advice

Anyone?
Why don't you try a few settings out and see what works for you? I use hdr mode for landscapes as it takes a while to merge two exposures together and kids don't tend to stay still for too long. Macro works as it should. That's about all I can tell you.

I have tried a lot of different apps for the camera, but stock seems to match or better them all for me. I am no expert but am happy with the results. As stated, hdr is brilliant for still scenes and the colours it produces are exceptional. Don't use for your kids though unless their asleep

only reason why Im not on CM10 is because the stock Samsung camera is that good...almost SLR minus, aperture and shutter adjustment...

stock camera is the best afaik.... just fiddle with the parameters and find your best combo for various scenarios
I like stock camera too. Great images at all.
i want to ask NONSENSE users which app are they using in theit aosp/cm/aokp roms in replacement of sense camera.
yeah, this thing is keeping me off to install a nosense rom, because im too attached on sense camera features (panorama, burst mode, etc) and i use often camera.
In my experience sense cameras do tend to take better pics..

Camera ZOOM fx or Camera FV-5, both are awesome
for video recodring I use stock camera app.
They are all good solutions for Camera! Thanks! What i miss the most Island the panorama feature, which i didnt find in any Third part app. In sense panorama photos are thaken and blended togheter at full res and the result is a heavy jpg. In other apps photos are taken with a Lower resolution and are lower than 1 mb. In most case, photos are not exportable in album, but they are visibile on the app "player" or via web.
Inviato dal mio HTC Desire HD
i reply myself just to share with all that ProCapture - camera + panorama app makes panorama photos in full res (4+ MB) and not low res (600+ kb) , but there's a catch, panorama is good but takes too much time to elab photos (around 1 - 2 minutes)
Imo no camera can replace quality of picture from sense Rom, shame, I personally had best experience with snap camera.

you will not get the same quality of picture, Whatever the application is in non-sense Rom, because of framework or any other system file. Use that same application in sense rom and you will see the difference in image.

Camera FV-5 will be my 1st option n then there will be others like Camera Zoom Fx, Camera 360, Shot Control, Perfectshot, etc

Ok, here's the thing.
Everyone who wants better panorama than the one on Sense ROMS, install this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133983
bam, problem solved.

Yes and no...
App can use pretty much the same tweaking algorithms used in drivers/framework, so in theory there can be an app which would take similar pictures.
Hey folks!
The recently published new camera app from Google has some nice features. Unfortunately, as many other camera apps for the G2, this camera app lacks in picture quality in comparison to the G2 stock camera and its derivatives...
I'm not a developer but I thought that maybe it would be possible to modify the GoogleCamere to shoot better pictures using our beloved G2...
What do you think?
Bye, Spatz

Why not just use one of the posted g2 camera mods? They're already optimized.

Because,
1. most of them are only updated for stock roms and
2. the don't have those nice new functions like focus control, that the new GoogleCamera offers...
The camera mods change more than just the camera app.
I find the Google camera just as good as far as basic photo quality.

Most of the optimisations in the camera of OEM phones is in the app, but many are in the Kernel. Without both you will never get the same level of quality.
Porting them over is just not possible since its not just about settings, but also drivers and often you will not get the benefit of the drivers without the OEM app.
I wouldn't mind only a mod to select 16:9 for pictures instead of only 4:3 formats.

As we all know nexus 6p has excellent camera hardware, but I am not satisfied with camera app with no functionality and sluggish.
Please recommend the best camera app you guys using.
I'm using the Sense camera, love it

I'm digging the moto x pure camera...allows you to touch anywhere to take a shot.

I got bad performance and quality from it.
From where did you get it? Maybe some ports are better than others.
The Moto camera is good also, but I like the features on the Sense camera the best. I'm just using the camera from the play store, but to do so I'm using the Sensify Xposed module. I sometimes use camera360, but have also started to mess around with ProShot. But the HTC camera is my go to camera always.

I use Proshot if I ever want to use manual, but haven't had to use it lately.

Camera FV-5 is also a great Camera App, I wish there were a way to make the Color OS Camera work with the n6p

Proshot or the stock camera for me
Thank you guys.. I will give Proshot a try..
I was using camera Fv-5
but all of a sudden it stopped auto focusing. That's bad. I'm on latest PureNexus ROM.
I like the stock camera, ProShot and Manual Camera the best. The Sense camera was my all time favorite, but I've had some reliability issues with it in the past on non HTC phones (even using the xposed hack)
Too bad third party apps like proshot can't do HDR.
