Hi guys!
The back button of my SGS stopped working (no light and unresponsive). So I dismantled the phone in order to check if there was any problem inside of it. Apparently everything was fine, but I saw something like a transparent and knda sticky film on the capacitive buttons zones. I thought that it was just a protection and removed it. After that I assembled the phone but now the "back" and "menu" buttons are not working (no light and no response to touch).
Im sure that nothing is broken! Can you give some hints on what can I do to bring the buttons from the dead??
Tks in advance

Did you fix your capacitive keys? I was changing a frame bezel and when I was dismantle it capacitive keys flat cable snaped. I ordered a new keys kit over ebay and mount them back today. Home button is working well but capacitive keys aren't. They dont respond and no light. Tryed to do a factory reset and reboot but no luck.
If you cant find any way to repair the buttons use the MOD in my signature

It's the on screen buttons. You will find it in selected 4.0-4.1.2 roms

The "fake" buttons are the same as the ones found on the Galaxy nexus phones. Rather than being on the bottom like our I9000 are they are on the screen. There are a number of roms you can flash if your capacitive buttons don't work. Any of the new JB roms all have these buttons in the Navigation Bar settings under rom control under SETTINGS. Hope that helped. By the way if you are going to flash a JB rom please go from gingerbread to ICS to JB in that order. If you dont you could loose your IMEI number which is important! Either way you should do a backup just in case.

A failure of the touch sensitivity in an 8mm strip down the left-hand side of my 2nd Legend meant a replacement under warranty, it wasn't the whole screen though.
I downloaded some touchscreen test app which confirmed it.

the screen doesn't work, the push buttons do, eg. Menu, it brings up the boxes along the bottom but I can't press them on screen eg. Settings, LauncherPro settings, notification etc
it sounded like u were trying to "press" the menu button just by skin contact
sorry for the misunderstanding
It looks like your digitizer is read. I think this is what you need to buy:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Touch-Screen-Glass-Digitizer-HTC-Legend-G6-Tool-US-/270651602352?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3f0417b5b0
I encountered the same problem after installing a Zagg screen protector. From reading around it seems maybe I pressed too hard with the squeegee when applying it. I got a replacement phone.
Every once in a while I experience the same thing with my new phone if I have it in my pocket for a while. Usually the touch comes back if I just set it aside and don't touch it for a while.
Seems like the legend screens are suseptible to damage from too much pressure on the screen.
I read a forum post on here somewhere from someone who claimed to fix the issue by using duct tape on the screen (applying it then peeling it back off to lift the screen a little).
I've noticed light leakage on the right side of my home button when menu and back buttons light is on and i wonder how many of you have this problem. Also is this enough for Samsung to replace my device or will they just send it for repair ?

i have this too, but I dont consider this a problem and doesnt bother me at all
if your device is working fine I wouldnt recomment changing it because I may get one with some actual problem, but that's my opinion

Hi,
I just recently disassembled my HTC HD2 to replace the digitizer + lens and now it works, but I believe I may have scratched the LCD during process because now there are scratches/blurring on the top right portion of the screen (as seen in this pic imgur.com/vYjbn)
I just want confirmation that it definitely is the LCD that's causing the issue as I'm about to order one to fix my mistake, or if it's some other component that I overlooked.
Also, the up volume button doesn't work but the down one does. I've tried probing it with tools (since I lost the yellow/black bumper thing), but it's unresponsive no matter what. Anything I can do about that?
Thanks in advance!
cracked LCD, new LCD needed ...
Yellow black popper cap is needed as that is the button ...

The bottom one works without a button however, when I probed it with a flathead. For some reason the top one doesn't work. I don't think not having the button is the sole reason, perhaps a link was broken or shorted.
Black part in cap is the contact pad to bridge the points on the button board, without the cap the button has no feel & no function. Never seen volume work when missing & I come across a few that have been missing or temporary missing during assembly.

Hello aslamoalikim
I have been using the one for few weeks now coming from Samsung note 2 I noticed one screen is less senstive
Sometime I have to press twice or thrice for a function especially back or home button
Is it just me or can I tweak settings?

The back and home buttons aren't the screen, but yes some people say that the touch area for those buttons is too small. Nothing can be done yet

I Am seeing this more of an issue, even on the screen itself,
HTC one seems to have a lag on whole screen?

Send it back then cos mine doesn't have anything like it(lag, double touches etc)
The back and home touch areas are quite small but once you get used to it it's a non problem.
mine doesnt have any 'Lag' issues on the screen, infact i find the sensitivity better and more responsive than my 'One X'. However, your right, the capacative touch buttons 'Home and Back' have a small touch area and i feel that i do have to be quite precise when touching them, which in fact i feel is better, because when i was in an app or something on my 'One X' i found that it was so easy to accidently touch one and come out or back to the home screen.
So there's a menu entry under the display menu for keypad lighting, but flipping the toggle seems to do nothing and there's no mention in the manual. So is this for non existent backlighting for the capacitive buttons at the bottom?
Been wondering the exact same thing since I got the phone last night!
Waiting on an answer for this lol.

Same here, got it yesterday and at night or dark places for some reason I thought it will automatically light up, but not...
Ok, that makes 4 of us, Lol.... I have NO IDEA what that is for either, and don't see anything different with it on or off?
It may be an unused option for this model but intended for use with the 6gb model that had true capacitive keys. The keys on this model were a last minute addition.
Is it possible to have it work with an update?
Seeing as how the capacitive keys were a last minute addition and the device lacks the hardware to light up, I doubt it.
That is, if that is what the option is even for.
They are painted on, do not light up, there are no lights underneath it to make it light up!
I guess if it is true that other models will be getting the backlit capacitive buttons, then that might make me wait to get another model (hopefully with similar band-support as the NA model) and then trying to unlock the bootloader to get some legit English-based ROM like CM on it.
One can dream, right?
... if not... then these little (but significant) corner cutting issues are going to kill this phone for me unfortunately

It went away after an update or two. Turns out it was some old code from the Chinese version which does have backlit buttons.

I'm amazed that they even removed them in the first place... If they weren't going to remove the bezel where the buttons were, why would they remove the buttons?
