[Q]headset microphone not working anymore - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I recently have the problem that my headset mic is not working anymore since i flashed "The absolution 3.7" or "blackice glacier 1.27". It once worked on cm7 7.1.0 when i was able to skype or phone with it. I only hear the sound but im not able to be heard as long as i have the headset on. The headset is a stock one from the mytouch 4g package delivered.
The headset is still working on other devices and i have no idea why it does not work on mt4g anymore.

Same mic problem
I have the same problem with none functional wired headset mic when running Revolution with 2.3.5 and Sense 3.0. This question has been asked several times but has not been answered that I can find. Any suggestions out there?
I can't upgrade beyond Sense 3.0 because the Exchange mail client is broken in all versions past 3.0 - incredible but true - can't imagine what HTC is thinking!
Is this mic problem related to "Beats" audio maybe?

A lot of ROMS don't seem to have headset mic support, particularly the GB ones in my experience. On those roms you'll always hear the audio but you can't be heard while your headset is plugged in because the headset mic overrides the main mic, but the headset mic isn't supported so you're essentially muted. Sorry if that sounds unclear, if you read it a few times it'll make more sense lol.
Anyways, if the ROM doesn't work with your mic you can always use stereo headphones on your phone and speak into the phone's microphone(That's what I was doing with mine up until very recently). Either that or flash different ROMS until you find one that works properly for you.
As an alternative you can try some of the new ICS roms that have been posted up. The majority of them have headset support fully functional(I've tested them myself for that), and if you need Exchange mail services some of them have that functioning as well.

Exchange mail and server policies - found a working ROM!!!
Anyone struggling to get Exchange mail working on your MT4G I've found a working solution here.
I've tried multiple other versions of Sense and this is the only one that works with all of my employer's Exchange policies. Every other version fails at the last stage of setup with a complaint that the client doesn't support the required policies. This Android Revolution version based on HTC Desire HD RUU 3.12.405.1, Android 2.3.5, & HTC Sense 3.0 enforces the PIN code rule and also works with my company's other policies on remote wiping, desktop access, etc. Give it a try, but be sure you load the Sense 3.0 version; the Sense 3.5 version fails on Exchange policies!
The Sense 3.0 UI is far superior to TouchDown and Moxier IMHO. Even making appointments (calendar invites) works cleanly and that's always a challenge on mobile Exchange clients. It has clean interfaces with the Exchange global address database too.
Of course, there is no perfect ROM.... the mic on the wired headphones doesn't work, but otherwise it's smooth and sweet.

I tried to locate a solution for this on absolution rom but was unsuccessful. Nobody knew what lib was responsible for this problem.

Beats audio kills the headset mic. Do the roms your using have Beats?

Unfortunately, yes. If Team Inferno would please port a version of Android Revolution with Sense 3.0 and no Beats that should be great!

HTC Hero/Magic Bluetooth

i have a hero rom on my htc magic and everything works perfectly except the bluetooth audio,
is it possible to somehow install the original htc magic bluetooth instead of the one that comes with hero rom to get it working like before?
Bluetooth issues with Hero ROM's are a known, but they are not fixable at the moment.
So either run a ROM where it works or live with bluetooth audio not working.

Yeah a MOD should post a big sticky at the top of this forum about it, gets asked way to often, must be a bigger deal in other countries. I can do without the slow transfer rate and battery sucking feature.

Bluetooth audio is tremendously important if you spend a lot of time on the phone with bluetooth headsets. For me multitouch is one step more important. Now if only 2.0 would come out I could switch back to a rom with bluetooth!

[Q] Froyo w/sense 1.7. Bluetooth flakey

So far I'm pretty happy with Froyo on my phone. I've got the barebones WM for droid rom, radio version 2.12.50.02_2and a FAT32 SD card I freshly formatted prior to installation.
It's great, save for the fact that my plantronics discovery 975 headset doesn't seem to play nicely with Froyo. It pairs just fine, but I don't get any audio and the phone app seems to lockup when I attempt to answer a call while paired. This is via either the button on the handset or the headset.
I know Android for HD2 is still in dev, so I"m willing to accept this is just a problem with no fix. However, if there is a bug out there I can fix to get my headset working, I would love to know about it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Mccm v.1.5 works nicely with my SE headset. It's the only android without sense build where Bluetooth is functional with my headset. Have tried them all.
If you're into sense, Froyostone build has Bluetooth perfectly functional.

That's what I'm told, but...
....the MattC Froyo Sense is a slightly moded version of the stone, if understand the txt doc that comes with it.
I'll try the straight stone installation and let you know how it goes. In the meantime, if anyone has a suggestion as to why this would be flakey, I'm really curious what the issue is.

[Q] Stock Hero Bluetooth Problems

I just switched from a moment to the hero on our third line that our friend uses.
Had many problems with the moment. So far only one with the hero, but its a huge deal to the end user!
Sound quality when using bluetooth is from poor to bad. Caller on other end either cannt hear me or I cannt hear them. So far this is true with all 4 of my bluetooth headsets. These same headsets work with no problem on diffrent phones. So its not the headset.
Is there a known bluetooth issue on the hero? I searched the forums but cannt find anything. I know this could be a simply a bad refurb problem. However if there is a custom rom or some other way to fix this problem I would like to try that before switching phones.
If a bunch of you tell me you use bluetooth with a stock hero, without problem, then I will just call sprint and have them send out a different one. If not though I need a rom / kernel recommendation. Keep in mind this is my friends phone and he does have the time for me to be messing with it a lot. So I need something proven to be stable and low maintenance please.
Does anyone use bluetooth with the hero?
Comon. I know some of you do. Just need to know if it works well for you or sound bad. Please.

I have tried over and over to get the hero/bluetooth to work with my car to no avail. It will work sometimes, but most of the time not. Strange things will happen like I can get phone calls and I can hear the other person, but they can't hear me AND after disconnecting bluetooth, then the speaker phone doesn't work until I turn off the phone and remove the battery. And there's been some times I've had to do that multiple times to get the speaker phone working again.
My crackberry from work has functioned flawlessly with my car and with headsets.
Mine works fine/sounds fine.
Setup:
Hero running CM6 Stable w/BlackMod connected to 2008 Ford Fusion Sync system over BT.
I have not bothered to get a BT headset because so many had issues with it in the past.
May have to try a custom rom. Trying to avoid that cause it not my phone but..

I use blu ant and ive had 3 diffrent heros and the blu tooth always works fine and just a note just because ur blu tooths works with your other phones doesn't mean the will with all phones i cant really explain y its just some things are not compatible doesnt mean your phone is bad or the head set its just some devices just wont shake hands good luck

Never had a quality issue... But I do have a loudness issue. No matter what I do I can't get the volume on my end to be loud enough. Tried it with my dads moment and volume is great. Dunno seems like the hero has mixed bluetooth feelings.

[Q] EVO 4G + Ford SYNC/MyTouch: Poor Bluetooth

Hey All,
I have been scouring the web in hopes of answers and can find none. Evidently I'm not the only EVO owner in this boat either. I own a 2011 Ford Explorer with Sync & MyFord Touch (Fully updated). I pair the phone to the car it makes the connection fine. Begins the setup and sometimes will even connect and be recognized for a bit. But then the phone drops the bluetooth headset part of the connection. It appears (but I can't confirm) that Bluetooth streaming audio is still connected. There was a blissful 3 day window where it all just worked. Then it went to hell...... I saw one post where it said to switch the Bluetooth name back to "PC36100" and that didn't help. I saw another that said use a 4 digit pairing code and that didn't help either.
Its worth noting that I'm running Myn's Warm 2.2 rls5 with the stock & fully updated HTC kernel. So here's what I'm hoping to figure out:
*Have you had this issue with ANY car?
*Have you had this issue with Ford SYNC/MyFord Touch
*Aside from unpairing & repairing were you able to get around it?
*Is there a Kernel with a better bluetooth stack I should try?

Unfortunately, the HTC bluetooth is totally worthless. I have a 2010 Ford Focus with Sync and it would connect and sometimes work for awhile, but people on the other line always complained of poor quality. And it wouldn't even connect all the time either. Lots of deleting and readding the phone.
Couple weeks ago I switch to CM7. Since CM has a bluetooth stack they built themselves and actually implemented correctly, I haven't had any problems pairing my phone. I can make calls, stream music, gps, etc and it is all fine. Always connects too. What is nice also is the audio will automatically stop if Google Navigation is giving directions or if someone calls. When I shut my car off and open the door, the audio stops and when I get back in it automatically starts again where it left off.
Basically if you want to use your Evo with a Ford Sync system, you'll need to run a version of CM.
Arg. I'm still waiting on my Explorer
On my 08 Explorer with Sync and Myn's RLS4, all is good. I turn BT off and make sure it is on before I turn the key. I stream audio constantly, and talk a bit. I literally just got around to putting on RLS5 today, haven't driven yet.
I partially agree with teamgreen02. It's HTC, not Ford. Does texting work with CM7? That would push me over the edge (or Explorer, pun intended)
It seems that there are a bunch of phones that have issues maintaining connectivity with the latest Sync system. I had to re-pair a BlackBerry to an '11 Explorer this afternoon. There is a backwards pairing procedure that may help rectify your issue. If you try searching for your phone from the vehicle instead of searching for sync from your phone, it has, in my experience, minimised connection drops, especially on the latest versions of Sync...
Btw, I am like the only tech at my dealership who really understands how to even pair phones to Sync, let alone diagnose the concerns our customers have described. There is also a system compatibility chart that we reference to determine if a particular device has been tested and verified to work with certain features of Sync. Last I checked (the October 2010 update) the Evo still wasn't certified compatible/tested...

Does anyone have any updates on this? My wife's Sync is working fine with her Evo but the sound quality sucks when she calls. Her phone isn't rooted.
I did update the Sync software from v1 to 1.1 (She has a 2008 Ford Edge Limited) but need to do further updates to the system since there are updates available.
Here is my experience/.02.
My wife drives a 2011 Ford Edge with sync....she has a stock Evo4g. When she bought the car 2 months ago, bluetooth seemed to work fine...now she is having the exact same issues everyone else is having. The bluetooth connects/disconnects and just plain doesn't work. I attempted to fix it and.....no. If i unpair from both the car/phone then retry to connect them, it connects for a second and when it tries to send the phonebook from the phone to the car, the connection dies. The phone still displays that bluetooth audio (not phone) is connected.
I then tried my Evo 4g (CM7) on her car...no problems whatsoever. Sync'd and connected fine...phonebook transferred over in about 5 seconds and everything worked great.
To note, my Evo 4g also works perfectly on my 2011 Infiniti G37...
So I think my example further proves that HTC's bluetooth software is likely the causative agent and is likely junk....root or die i guess =p

I rooted and installed MIUI and dont have any problems yet with sync.
Although,
I was looking looking to pull the bluetooth stack of the droid X which has the MAP bluetooth profile, that will allow ford sync to read and write text messages for you.
any ideas on how to do this? Or where to find in in the droid X?
2010 Ford Focus here, works fine for me. Using Fresh 3.5.1.
The bluetooth stack should all be dependent on what kernel you are using on your rom, so if you already have it rooted, try to change kernels and see how it improves...
as far as the MAP profile, i found this thread in the Q&A section, and it also recommends pulling the MAP profile (for text messessaging) from the motorola droid kernels.
I wish i knew how to do this.

I have not used sync in a long time in my 2010 escape, but I'm wondering if the text message function works as well. Any word on this?

No, the text messaging does not work for the unrooted Evo and it doesn't work for a rooted Evo under Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RL5.
I Just had a 2011 Explorer limited for the past week as a rental and it worked fine for me (music & calls). I know this does not help much hope you get it going.
i had my EVO running fresh 3.5 and worked great in my Escape, i just switched to twopointtwo ROM and now here i am looking for a solution, not sure if its the rom or the kernel since i switched both..

got it working for a day but its disconnected again, im going to explain what i did hoping someone with more knowledge can help us SYNC users to connect bluetooth
used fresh EVO 3.5 for a while and worked great, then i got bored and changed rom to myn's warm 2.2 with the kernel included and bluetooth started disconnecting after 30 seconds or so...
i tried

they didnt work either... so heres the funny thing..
i wiped and reflashed a fresh version of the same rom (Myn´s warm 2.2), this time i didnt restore anything, no apps, no contacts, anything, left it clean.. then i paired it up and voila.. it worked for a long time in my ESCAPE, so i thought it was working and restored all my apps and data.. and to my frustration... its disconnecting again.
so does this have to do with the kernel or with some apps or what.
has anyone figured out how to get sync working with blue tooth messaging.

I don't think the android kernels have the message access protocol that is needed for this to work.

2010 Ford Focus. Bluetooth sucked with stock ROM and warm, dropped connection all the time. Works great with CM7. Definitely an issue on the phone side and not the car in my case.
I am also wondering if we can somehow get the text messaging working. I don't think its officially supported on any Sprint phones.
2010 Moutaineer here - never had a problem with Bluetooth on rooted stock EVO ROM.
Listen to music all the time - even the "call-transfer" functionality works fine when I enter the vehicle while talking on the phone.
Only thing is - I wish the damned thing would auto-synch for media-audio on Aux1 instead of me having to select the source all the time - anyone know how to do this?
2010 Lincoln with mytouch/sync and rooted with stock rom. No problems at all. Sometimes it gets a little static sound but I just turn my Bluetooth off then back on.

Desire ROM for in car bluetooth SMS

Hi All,
I bought a new car this weekend (fiat 500) and it came with the Microsoft Blue&Me Bluetooth connection. When I first got the car, I was running an CM9 build and the SMS reader wouldn't work so I went back to the rooted stock rom and it still didn't work. The phone connects, pulls my contacts, and works remarkably well to make and receive calls.
According from a list from Fiat, not many phones are compatible with with the SMS system (not even iPhone!). It looks like an old list but the only htc phone that it says is compatible is the Desire. I was thinking I might be able to get it to work with a Desire rom but I am having trouble finding one. I get too many results when I search the development forum because many of the older sense roms are ports from the desire but not the desire rom (for example, the revolution rom is a port of the sensation xl rom for desire).
Does anybody know of a desire rom offhand? I was thinking there might be one available from the old days when people wanted to upgrade from the stock mysense rom.
It is a long shot but does anyone know of a ROM that will work with the Microsoft in car system?
