Looking for the most stable/bug free GB rom in its current version. I am looking to flash one and not have to flash any more updates and such for a long time.
No CM mods please (I am finding stability issues with them)
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Try CM7.2RC1. I've been using CM7 nightlies for 3 or 4 weeks and they are even more stable than stock GB and also have plenty of features

Any CM 7 I've used had not been more stable than GB.
I will try the RC1 (from neutrino though)
but I would still like to know the most stable non cm7 GB rom

Stock, but CM7 is still more stable. It had issues early on but those have been ironed out now. Try the RC, you'll really like it.

If you try it from Neutrino, you aren't going to get an accurate representation of CM7, as it is basically a modified, minimal version of it (and is probably where many of your stability issues originated). Try the "pure" CM7.2 before writing it off.

I'm wondering about battery life too
also because it is RC1 , wouldnt that only make it a temp build and I would have to reflash soon anyway? I am looking for a rom that I can flash now and used for a long time

Then you'd better flash the stock AT&T ROM if that's your criteria, because every single third-party ROM out there has "release of the week" syndrome. The only exceptions are the ones that are no longer being worked on.
You should really try CM7.2RC1. Pretty nice and stable.

I dont mean I want a ROM that does not ever have updates. I mean I want a ROM that is so stable in its current form that even if you dont flash the following updates you will still be fine.
The stock ROMs all have issues that are generally fixed in custom ROMs.
I will probably try RC1 and NottachTrix
If you want stability, do not try Neutrino. AFAIK Neutrino didn't have any bug-free release. If you don't use webtop, you should definetly switch to CM7.
I am using topogigi rom and seems great.

Nottach for me.
Given how well this rom works,I will stay here untill the ICS builds look at least decent. And that would include HDMI resolution as I use the laptop very seriously.
The only thing I can even thiink of *****ing about is that the battery bar auto color is broke for me. And that is really kind of minor.
With the CM7 RC1 it stable and everything is working now you dont have to flash every . new up date that comes out just watch the change logs when the do come out and what people are saying and see if the update is for you as for cm7 RC1 Threads some searching would get you there but i feel like a nice person today ROFL so here ya go

So in currently running Iced Glacier 1.1.6 with faux's 7.8.2SV kernel. And it seems really smooth and good on battery. But lately iv wanted more and iv been contemplating on switching to CM7.
Has anyone made this same switch and not like CM7? Or absolutely loved CM7?
I really just don't wanna flash and get it all set up only to come back to the stable and efficient Iced Glacier.
Just askig for personal preference or facts. Whatever you wanna provide me with.

Trust me when I say this most of us jumped from IGv1.1.6 to CM7NB. IG is the best stock 2.2 rom but as project is halted by silence CM7 (2.3) took its place. Once you switch and set things up you will never go back to 2.2 best advice for you is flash the newest NB and since you like faux's kernel use his CM7 kernel or you can use dumfaq's as its more stable. I just watched to v1.3LV today as I did full wipe and did fresh CM7NB#8 flash, it's worth it as in long run you will like it.

You arent the only one that has asked this question...see the link below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=965593
and here is my quote from that thread
i continue to keep flashing between these two roms because i just cant decide which one i like more...they both have the pluses and minuses but even those are very minor and are personal likes/dislikes...such as maybe a button location or theming...all which can be solved by 3rd party means
both run really well...i think cm7 runs better out of the box while IG runs better when you've flashed another kernel like Faux's latest...cm7 is also nice to not have the need to run a 3rd party app to control OC'ing IMO
i keep going back to IG cause it seems it fits the "look" i want more so than cm7 currently...it also feels a bit more natural than cm7...but at the same time i love messing with cm7 to learn gingerbread and learn whats to come for our phones
i think once cm7 hits RC2 or its full stable release ill switch to it full time when i can get a nice theme for it and get it looking and feeling the way i want
honestly you cant go wrong with either rom...if you want sense and good rom thats feels like the stock rom with all the bells and whistles of what roms add...go IG...if you want the latest and greatest that runs like a champ out of the box and is nice and simple AOSP but with a ton of features on the back end...go cm7

needless to say...you cant go wrong with either...but cm7 is the future
EDIT: btw im back using IG 1.1.6 with Faux's 0.7.7b kernel...running absolutely spectacular

yeah i sorta felt the same way as you about cm7...but in all honestly its pretty damn stable for an in development rom...the devs have done an amazing job making sure its as stable as it can be while tweaking and refining things as they make new nightlies
also if you are want to maybe change the colors of the stock cm7 around a little...i would suggest the colorized version of cm7...as it takes away from the green and blue that in synonymous with gingerbread and cyanogen respectively
colorized version of cm7: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/14513-colorized-cm-7-for-glacier/
as for kernels...i always ran cm7 with the stock kernel...had good battery life and it ran great using the built in performance setting in the cm settings...but i havent heard anything bad about Faux's kernel either...he makes great kernels and works hard to do so
I am the one who started the other thread wanting to know the same thing...so far, there are pro's and con's to each. It's just all a matter of preference.
Personally, I don't like how on CM7 my phone will just up and reboot a lot. I also can't get themes to work when I flash them. I like having visual voicemail because I'm getting a lot of recruiting calls each day.
But CM7 is amazing! I currently stick with it, though I've swtiched from the RC build to the nightly build.
Alright thanks. I guess onto cm7 I go.

I am testing his kernel v1.3LV ATM as we speak on CM7NB#8 as I virtually used all kernels in CM7 and IG. But far as dumfuq's kernel goes I was just giving you alternative as you are not be flash addict like us and update everyday and you maybe device dependent so you may need balance between stability and performance so use dumfuq's SmartCMKernel. As you know Faux is very aggressive in his update in stock kernel which is very good as I been aware and following his project since day 1. But if you venture in to CM7 just like IG you have built in OC kernel but if you do want you can still use dumfuq or faux kernel. He actually never flashed or used CM7 as he has stock based ROM in his MT4G as he wants to make SR revision for it and then switch to CM7 based project hopefully. So till than you can wait as it honestly makes no difference I used both kernel and dumfuq's seemed best for now which might change when faux venture in our world, so don't worry about it.

Well if you want to use upto date CM7(GB2.3.2) you can use NB (Nightly Build) then flash the current one from the repository as its always changing almost every night. Now it don't mean you want to flash it everyday but if you want you can like NRG as we flash addict do but you can also use RC (Release Candidate) which is little older build but there are no current SR (Stable Release). So but don't be fooled NB is what you should get as its what we all use.

In simple word NB is current upto date builds with more patch than RC as it was older build. Now that being said there are more people who use NB than RC, so that says something huh? NB is the way to go.

Question, I know there is an Alpha for ICS in the works right now. Do the developers already have everything they need to develop the rom or does a phone like the Galaxy Nexus which will have ICS stock have to come out first?

Hi all!
I made this thread so it will be clear which ICS rom is the fastest at the moment.
Roms included in poll:
Kwiboo's ICS v3
Cyanogenmod 9 Alpha 12
NexusBeam HD (latest version)
(ICS) Android 4.0 by eugene373
Cyanogenmod 9 Kangs (latest)
NexusMV 2.xx.xx
If you vote for a rom, please use the latest version of it. .. Dont forget to vote peepzz!

I've tried all of them except Eugene's. The kangs were the fastest until I tried out Drew Garens beta 2. IMO that is the fastest right now although all of the roms lag in comparison to gingerbread. I am starting to get jealous of the speed of my girlfriends stock Nexus S....

Kiwiboo v3 is the best for me. Honestly no issues (i.e. Wifi, keyboard, market, calendar apps all work out of the box.)

Kiwiboo takes it for having a working ICS port with no hassle.

I agree CM9 Kangs are definitely the ones to favor and will outright win this poll because:
1. It has CM on it.
People will blindly believe these are the best ones without trying others.
ZOMG CyanogenMod!!! *crackflashes*
2. It's the most frequently updated.
People always believe the latest ROMs will be better than previous ones. (See NexusBeam HD and now Android 4.0 from Eugene.)
New ROM ... need to fill crackflashing addiction ...
I cant decide between nexusbeam hd and latest kang.. i runned both.. but kang is better cuz it has all the apps. Im waiting on nexusbeam 2.2 update.. then i can compare with latest kang

This is true, I feel. I was trying different ROMs at first, but I've noticed I've stuck with CM9 kangs, and I'm REALLY sticking to em now since I flashed today's kang + morfic's SEUV 13b ICS kernel. The speed boost I got today was amazing. With the underclock, it's faster than the early roms were when overclocked.

Friend has been using the i9000, and I have the latest RC of cm7 on it.
She says that once in a while the phone will either reboot, or the screen goes dim and becomes unresponsive and she has to pull the battery.
I will be letting her have the phone as a gift but I want to flash a rom on there that is just rock solid (dont care about features). Just SOLID/stable as she doesnt know to flash any updates and I wont be flashing any more updates to it.
I was thinking about just putting on the latest nightly of cm7 but I dont see any changelogs for it to see what was fixed between the RC and nightly.
I was also thinking about Gamerzrom.
any more suggestions?

use cyanogenmod 9 RC2. Bug free basically. As for the freezing, are you using stock kernel? Cause it may be a hardware error. My friends phone had it after ics upgrade and all i had to do to fix it was install a custom kernel and bump up the voltages for the 100 and 200mhz frequencies by 25 - 50mV.

No it won't there is no ICS for our phone, just go for AOKP M6 don't look any where else
ok so I've been suggested so far:
tiramislim with devil kernel
cm 9 RC2
aokp m6 (probably the one i've heard least about)
and a stock rom (I thought custom roms are supposed to remove bugs?)
to answer your question, yes it is on the default CM7 kernel
Yep.Custom roms always faster than stock ones. But if we are talking about bugs,hmm.. i dunno..Stock must be better at that.
If your friend is not using her phone too much,i mean just making calls and sms also music etc, flash stock rom and give ut as it is.No need to root.. Pure stock.
I suggest you to flash 2.3.4 JVQ.Then change CSC by typing
*#272*imeinumber# to XEU
Get latest open europe stock firnware from kies. With that she can get latest updates easily.

ICS Elite 1.4.1, it's very fast, stable and bug free. It is also the final version of the rom so there will be no more updates anyway.

Flash latest stock rom of your country.. Flash a kernel with root, i prefer a kernel what is almost stock, for example;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332412&highlight=root
(make a factory reset)
Then install titanium to delete unnesecerry apps/bloatware
Install adfree adroid
Instals fasterfix en set the gps setting to your country/region
And you will get a really rockkk solid phone
(sorry for bad english)

You are the second person who has said that stock and not a custom rom will make it more solid.
Why is this? Don't custom roms generally perform better in most aspects? less bugs, etc

without intending to offend all girls on xda (who probably DO care about tech stuff - which is why they are here), sadly most if the girls I know are more concerned about the colour of the phone than which rom it has.
So, if said girl is fitting my terrible stereotype, then you'd be better off asking her which is her favourite colour and picking a suitably themed rom of the right colour! (as long as it is stable enough).
For all girls who DO care about tech: I apologise for perpetuating such offensive sexist rubbish! I SALUTE you!

Slim ICS for me after gamerz rom (last release often hangs for me each time I load too much things in App) and Darky (ok but got quickly crowded by apps and started to lag).
The slim roms allows you to have good battery and small memory footprint, then you add apps to it. Since a week, it's rock solid, I got half day extra in battery life too with my usage (mix of movie/media/3G surfing during 30 minutes commute each way + 20/30 min daily calls)
