[Q] Two or more HD2's Same Rom - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Okay sinse i don't have the option to comment on the right page i will put it here.
This is the problem.
I have three Leo's with the Energy sense Rom(one of the bests roms) but when one Leo is online using wifi the other one or two can't go online, because the all use the same mac adres and ip adres 192.168.0.19 .
Is there a way to change the ip or Mac settings...
Static wifi isn't an option because the Mac adres still stays the same and if i use static i cant connect to other routers because not all routers uses the 192.168.0.1 Gateway.
Please reply for this serious question.

Yes there is a way. But I cannot remember how. Are you running the latest version of energy sense? I would recommend reading the forum to see what other people have said about the mac addresses.

I used the Rom 08.02.12 with marc's 0.2.0 because the lastest 15.03.2012 rom has to many bugs.

use a root browser to change wifi mac address.I recommend root browser lite.Go to /system/etc/ folder.Find and open for editing the file "calibration" and in the first line you will see the wifi mac address.Put another one, save the file and you`re ready to go

Thank-you this was the solution to my problem

Why don't you LITERALLY thank the guy who helped you instead of saying "Thanks" ?
IOW, hit his thanks button to benefit him.

Using my HD2 as a router?

Hi -
What kind of IP address would I have if I used my Leo as a router? Would it be static or dynamic?
And would other people have used the same IP or would it be my own?
Thanks
you would have whatever ip your mobile provider issues. some give individual ips but most use block ips and nat (address translation) so more than one person can have the same ip.
go to whatismyip.com and have a look. o2 uk address for instance assign addresses that resolve to germany.

default is dynamic.. it is also an ad-hoc connection if you ask me.. some devices just won't see it..

Hidden SSID

Hy!
My problem is that I can't connect to my office router which has a HiddenSSID. I know it's a known defect of the Android 1.x OS. I1ve found this program on androlib: HiddenSSID Enabler as a solution for this problem but this program can't be installed on Tattoo I thnik bevause of the resolution.
So any help or suggestion that can help me?
Thank You!
WeFi should works fine..
Wifi is working fine if the router's ssid is not hidden but if it's then I should add a new network which has the name of the router with the hiddenSSID. I've made it and the new network of course appears on the list but the Tattoo doesn't connect to automatically and there is no option to connect to that network because in the popup menu there is onlĂ one option and that's the "forget network".
So wifi works fine but not with hiddenSSID networks.
WeFi is a free software.. try with it
Ohh I see i don't know wefi is the name of the software I'll try it thank you.

[Q] MAC Address Varies everytime reboot the device

I found that the MAC address changes everytime I reboot my HD2 WP7.
I set my wifi router with MAC address access list, so I have to get rid of the access list fuction and got a not very safe wifi enviornment.
Is there any possibility that have the same MAC Address in next HD2 WP7 verison?
Brand new forum organization, and still same old crap posted in the dev section.
Go to Q&A!!
I saw this too.
The MAC Addresses are:
00:18:41:xx:xx:xx
Is it possible to set permanent MAC address?

[SOLVED]School Wifi, Two IPs

I've been looking around the forums and google for a solution to this. From what I found, the solution that works for most people with the same problem as me ends up being chnaging the UA String to iPhone or Desktop, but that still doesnt seem to work for me.
Now my problem is that at my school, they set it up to where you have to log into a portal before you can access to the WiFi, but my phone never redirects to the portal. It used to on Windows mobile, but now running Android on NAND, it wont redirect. I've tried nearly every browser on the Android market, tried changing the UA String on all of them. And still nothing. I ended up going to the school's IT Dept, and they registered the Mac Address to my phone, but then told me that my phone was connecting to two different IPs. One being the school IP, the other an unknown IP.
I've looked in the WiFi settings and i cannot find this second IP they gave me. From the sound of it, thats my problem. Any idea on how to remove this second IP? Or if the IT dept. was wrong? If so, and other ideas on how I can connect to this portal?
PS: My phone connects to every other portal website i've gone to so far, except the schools.
hmm strange, normally your WIFI connection connects to only one network. You can find the IP address by calling *#4636#*#* then Wifi Information / Wi-fi Status. Now click Refresh and you'll see your connection info. You can even run a ping test

So looking around the forums again I ran into this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=965597
Not sure if I am reading that right, but the USB Port can have an IP? If thats possible, how can I disable it or change it?
You need update your ROM to one that support unique MAC address or search WIFI MAC to set the MAC address back to your real one. Old Android library on HD2 set the MAC address by using a file so all the phone has a same MAC address by default. You didn't have two IP address. There is someone else running a Android HD2 on the network. Two devices with the same MAC is the same device to the IT Dept. Only one of the device will be routed at any one time.

This sounds like it might work. I'm currently art school an unable to change roms. I'll do this when I get home and leave an update.

No need to change rom.
Use search function 'change MAC adress' or something like that.
I'm using a SD Android and needed to change it also, was just a change in startup.txt.
Maybe it is a little different in NAND? But it should be easier to search a little bit around as to re-flash.
(Most or maybe all Android builds have this problem)
If possible, use your WM MAC adress to avoid further problems.

I ended up changing my rom, and it fixed my problem. Used Hyperdroid GBX, also gave me a chance to install CWM.
But your fix might have worked as well.
His fix will only have worked for sd builds, not NAND. currently, many kernels for nand will give you a unique mac address, but there is no way to set it like there was on sd builds

How to find real mac adress?

Hello,
I've changed my MAC Adress but didn't noticed the old one. And I don't want to re-install Windows Mobile...
How can I find the real Mac adress of my WIFI?
Thanks...
In android you can dial *#*#4636#*#* and select wifi information then wifi status to get your mac address, but I don't know if this is the ' true' or what you modified since I've never played with my mac address.
