has anyone tried it? any notable/noticeable differences?
And while I'm here, does anyone else experience any receiving sms problems when running CM7....receiving messages that were sent the day before, or never receiving them at all?
I ran nightly 230 for a while before switching to the Team Hacksung ICS build... it ran really well on my phone. I think I still had to do the software GPS fix, and of course the mute/unmute bug is still there as far as I know. I'm going to guess the 7.2 RC is going to be pretty solid.
If it still needs the GPS fix and has the mute/unmute bug, I see absolutely no reason to use CM7.2 over ICS Passion \ Euphoria.

yah im going to give it whirl either way, i always like asking before flashing just in case theres something unexpectedly wrong with it
Only reason im on ics rather than cm7 is cause of batt life... cm7 was perfectly stable for me and incredibly fast.. ics, however featureful, is slower and more buggy for me

Not sure if it is or not but I can tell you it runs 10 times smoother....
WiFi is buggy when trying to connect to a secured network, 4G does not work, battery is the same as every ROM, if you use all the features and apps that came with the phone it Sucks, They all Suck.

I've been using this ROM for a few days, I'd tried the CM Nightly builds and I always come back to Decks ROM. None of them are 100% but they both are solid, I just prefer Decks, I also prefer a Sense ROM.
the battery on Deck's is def better
and it's way less buggy. I know CM6 is just a nightly but if you're looking for a Froyo rom that has camera available I recommend Deck's
the biggest bug is that the LED does not work at all. Also I am getting awful scores in quadrant with it.
pick your poison I guess
I am still having WiFi problems on secured networks.

anyone else tried this ROM yet??? Feedback??
Well, on that note... Baked Pastries isn't th at bad... It seems to have a lot of things going for it as well...
I used both cm6 nightly and Deck. I lean towards Deck for the sense. Both are great though. Deck is an excellent chef coming over from windows mobile. He is top notch.

Try Downgrading Your MIUI
I feel your pain, man, I had the same problem. I read in multiple places that MIUI 1.12.23 and above had dialer issues, so try downgrading to an earlier version of MIUI or join us here at ICS.
Hopefully it gets fixed soon, I really like this ROM except for that. And I'm job hunting, so i definitely need to be able to answer calls!

In my opinion, it's not a bad time to upgrade to ICS. Ever since they got the Camera working, there's not a lot of crucial features missing. If you've been using MIUI for awhile I think you'll be a little more patient than others when it comes to 4G.
If you decide to upgrade, I highly recommend the ICS ROM in my signature. It's by far the fastest and most stable I've seen.

im still skeptical about moving on to ICS for the vibrant just bc i need a phone that works 100% correctly all the time... so im still on froyo.
currently running bionix fishman mod final2 w/ bali-x @ 1.2ghz
essentially froyo tweaked in many ways w/ the appwidgetpicker
along with the miui camera, s.gps2 for gps fix, setcpu, and bln
is anyone else flashing any additional necessary files when they flash their roms??

Fishman is good. My needs are different. I need a Rom that is atleast 2.2.1. So the capacitive buttons dont blind me on each screen press. I'd recommend ultimate rom or biwinning with the sense or sgs2 theme. I also use Bali undervolt kernel. If you haven't already test out the modems for your area. For instance for me its KB1.

I was on ICS Passion and 100% functionality is a stretch. Browsing through the thread reveals that damn near everyone else has problems too. I have issue with these devs that claim everything works when it's clearly a lie.
I'm using Fishman's 2.2 rom right now. No need to flash any other files for my needs. So far it's been pretty good.

CM9's 16B is so functional that I put it on my Dad's phone, and he says it's running much better than it did before on Bionix. The only issue he and I have been having is the GPS, which never has worked from the beginning for us anyways, and very minor things (like the menu for toggle widgets is called lockscreens or something).
ICS is pretty awesome. You may want to give it a shot... I recommend the Icy Glitch kernel to go with CM9.

when you say never worked, do you mean it as GPS ideally should? or even to the low standards of how the vibrant's GPS is supposed to work?
personally since everything works 100% as best as it possibly can right now on my vibrant with bionix fishman mod without a hardware gps fix, i'm very reluctant to move onto ICS if the GPS wont even lock within around 30 secs or so like i can get it to do with froyo especially if it is something i need eventually
minor things like menu names i can definitely deal with, but if froyo's GPS works better overall compared to an ICS rom, i see absolutely no reason to make the switch with this phone. if i need ICS that badly, i will get a new phone

I was on Legendary and then SimpleROM but I'm ready for a change as long as it is stable (like the ones I just mentioned). I tried reading the threads but they keep changing and some are very long.
Just wondering if someone knows since I have been on only this 2 ROMs for nearly a year.

Try out CM9.
It's pretty popping fresh.
Also, MIUI.
And in the future, we discourage best ROM threads.
Depends on how you use your phone. CM9 beta 0 is stable for a daily ROM. But If your a power user like on your phone nonstop then you will find yourself wanting a charger.
Also gotta ask the question to you want to move to the MTD side.... best bet is to read up on everything, then test out different roms till you find one that you like.
Sent from a CM9 powered Epic.
If you want a good stable Rom the marcusant rom version3 and the shake and bake theme are a nice combo. Also cm9 is also kinda nice but its still in beta
Threads are long because everyone is trying to butt hurt everyone else, and there are a lot of useless postings (such as this one). Just be sure whatever rom you use has the appropriate thanks, documentation and GPL reference or you will get blasted even as just a user.
Just try them all, go nuts, have fun! Just be sure to do whatever you can to brick your device so you can provide yourself with the logical reasoning to upgrade as quickly as possible.
Sent from my, is it safe to claim, personally semi-tweaked (but not shared) and still therefore kanged??? sammiEpic running some CM9b0 shiznizzle.....
Thanks to all that offered good advise and options.
And to clarify a few points:
1 - I did not ask what was the best ROM (I know better than that).
2 - I respect the advise of the users here and do not wish to try them all. It simply takes too much time when all the ROMs say to wipe everything clean including data. It's a very long process putting everything back the way it was. The last 2 updates I did did not update my programs so I had to install them all manually plus their data. And as some of you may know, restoring from backup is not always a good thing to do.
So... I really appreciate those that provided a few options for me to try. Will do soon. And btw I alway provide feedback to the thread on the ROMs that I try. Comes from being a technology administrator for many years.
Thanks again,
tsp

In order for someone to answer this you have to let people know how you use your phone. Are you hooled on the Touchwiz interface? Then it would require some work and getting similiar apps for CM7, CM9 or any other AOSP ROM. If you just want to update to the newer firmware and like how your phone is running now, then Sleeper or CleanGB. If you need more app space then you want to go to an MTD ROM like CleanGB MTD. At least read the OP's of any ROM you are considering to know all the features.

CM9 ICS
I've been using CM9 ICS since alpha 2 and I had to Odin my phone back to stock for some weird reason. It was so strange seeing the stock interface after using ICS. "I can't swipe notifications away? What is this vertical scrolling? Bloatware???" So yeah, beta 0 seems good enough for me for now, plus the battery life is way better than stock.
CM9 for sure. The only real issue was the phantom voicemail but there is a fix for it now (as of today).
Loving the CM9. It's like a new phone!

Tried CM9 and it was allot more stable than I expected. However it still needs work and is not as solid as stock. The lag overall started to annoy me along with other things like garbled text messaging, 4G issues, occasional reboots, and no visual voicemail, but the devs are doing a great job.
I am on Clean GB right now and will jump back to Thunderhawk when Random updates to El30.

Everything I've tested on my fassy works and I use this as my daily driver, but you have to keep in mind, it's build one. Some people have still having GPS issues and random restarts, so obviously there's still some bugs to work out. The biggest change is the swap of the system and app partition as there's <500mb of app space now. If you've got a lot of apps, well you're gonna have to evaluate which ones you really need if you can't move them to SD or to the system partition (I've found that moving them to system is pretty much trial and error).
Also, a lot of the features in M6 are still being baking into JB. My fav "hold back to kill" is not ready yet.
With that being said, I'm never going back to ICS. JB is noticeably faster and smoother; a better OS no doubt. I can't wait to see what the future holds for the next coming builds.

What LVR said. ^^ I would say that the nightlies have been very stable. I haven't had anything broken (MMS, camera, etc.) during the time I've been on CM10 nightlies.
I just flashed the 09/15 nightly. This time, instead of using Rom Manager to boot into recovery and flash the ROM, I just resbooted into recovery manually and chose the nightly ROM. I did NO resets or wipes before this. After the ROM flashed, I immediately chose the GAPPS file and flashed those. Restarted, Android updated the ~180 apps, and it was ready to go. Didn't have sign back into my Google account, Play and Google Music work great.
Unless I run into problems, or there is some major file system change, I'm not going to do any wipes or resets before flashing the nightly updates. :fingers-crossed:
