[HELP]Cannot Activate Live Services

Hi guys,I recently installed wp7 on my hd2 and I cannot activate the live services.
I follow the Walkthough
but when I call microsoft hellas so to give me an activation code they ask me to call htc.They dont give me an activation code.Can anybody help??Could anybody please give me an activation code via pm?

The only way to get an activation code is from microsoft or HTC and considering how many people have called in, I think they have figured out what is going on. You can be pretty sure that no one is going to give you a code in a pm as the code is bound to your personal informations

It appears that the codes are re-useable so I wouldn't complain about an already used code : )

I really dont understand why people ask other members for activation codes.
Those who have codes have done the work for themselves.
Its not too hard to get a code yourself.
If you live in another country, install skype and call the TOLL FREE number and get your code.
I always up for helping someone out, but I see all these members asking others for codes just because they are lazy and dont want to spend 5 minutes on the phone to get a code.

Microsoft have stopped giving out codes, you now need an IMEI and contact HTC, hence why I am asking somebody to kindly share an activation code. But yes I do see your point.
Unfortunately at this point in time, if I want to use WP7 I need an activation code, I have no way of acquiring one myself, so I have to hope that one of the xda members will be kinder than yourself and share a code with me.

Microsoft aren't asking for an IMEI, they're forwarding UK users direct to HTC where you now need to confirm an IMEI for a WP7 phone, which obviously I can't provide. I'm not asking for anyone's right arm here mate, not even for anyone to contact Microsoft on my behalf. The codes are re-usable as stated in my first post.
I'm simply asking for someone that is fortunate to have a valid code to share it with me, if I could get one for myself I would, but I can't.
And anyone that is willing to share will have my utmost gratitude.
I have also tried gaining a code through Microsoft support chat with no joy. If some one in the US could gain a code for me I would be willing to make a donation?

The code is only usable for 3 times, then you have to get back on to MS for another one.
Thats why other people will not share there code, as if they have to re-boot, then they will have to use the code again etc etc.
I had this problem, and contacted MS and they supplied me with another code.
Oh you want to know how to get a new code. Well MS ask for your and/or your name/email/D.O.Birth/tel number etc etc. This is for there records. So when your code runs out, you tell them you had an accident with the phone (Dropped down the toilet what ever) and you had a new replacemnt via insurance. Because they already have your detals, they will issue you a new code. No problem. (I have already done it, and the girl i spoke to had a laugh with me.)
For you young guy's that are trying. When you call them, tell them your name, and then put your mum on the phone to the MS operator. She can say Johnie has this new phone i bought for him, but it is asking for some code.)
There see mum got the code.. And always ask them to email it to you. as when there's a problem. Email them back with that copy.

4 hours ago from this post I got my Key. All I did was ask and she generated a key for me. It's interesting that they are asking for an IMEI. How many times have you called? If you try more than once someone may give it to you.

Phoned Microsoft again this morning, was told again that I have to phone HTC with an IMEI number : (, as I've already stated I will happily donate if anybody is still able to get hold of one. It would appear that Microsoft UK have stopped giving out codes altogether.
Please help, I wouldn't ask if I could help myself.

pff if anyone could help he get a code? I'm willing to even pay you 5-10 EUR/USD.

See i am having problems with my spoken word,so i contacted chat support and got the code in just 2 minutes...it is not that big of a deal...like talking to a GM on WoW....If anyone would have been worried to call the phone,he would have tried the chat...if he wanted the code so much that is.I got the code cuz i wanted to go daily driver on this as it fulfills all my needs.
My point being that if a person wants somehing that much...He could pretty much type the same amount of characters on the chat support window and obtain the code...

Rubbish. Just installed 4th time WP7 on my phone, and got activated with the same code.

Do you need to type the key again or is it associated to windows live account?

I think I have no luck . All the times I tried , they tell me inform HTC. I tried by chat, email and phone . Now currently , my last chance is through my 4th attempt in live chat . They said need to research, will get back to me via my email in 24hrs. I'm not sure if they will give the codes .
I'm willing to donate a beer if someone is willing to help me get a code from ms. Will really appreciate it .

Yes, I had to enter key again, the same one which I have got from microsoft for the first time.

Any posts from users sharing activation codes will be deleted. Users will be infracted and thread will be closed.
Don't make this happen guys!

I read somewhere that if an activation code is used to register another handset (with a different IMEI) then the first registered handset will become de-activated. You can re-activate the same handset as many times as you like, but from what i read - if you give your code to someone else and they use it - your handset will then be dead.

Is there anyone willing to help some of us with HD2 that want to use WP7 but cannot get the activation code since of various reasons.
So I'm kindly asking anyone to provide openly activation key(s) here and then it is up to the user (us) to decide if we want to take the risk and use it (since it will be used many times obviously).

i don't see why anyone would take the trouble to do that when it's so easy to get a code from microsoft.

South East Europe is having problems doing that. Anyway, it is a courtesy call, please help by providing activation code here

Hi there, i don't think that giving here activation codes will really work, because the code is generated using some credentials like your phone number name and e-mail or a mix of them.
Why don't you try the microsoft support chat ? i got mine in like 10 minutes or so.

i have a hard time believing that, since the call centers are set up to service customers internationally. just make sure you don't call your local microsoft helpline, they prolly won't be able to help you.

Whatever MS may think about HD2 owners activating WP7, I very much doubt that they would tolerate these boards being used as a market for activation codes.
If nothing else, if an HD2 owner calls MS for an activation code they get some marketing data, assuming the caller leaves reasonably accurate details.
I suspect the Mods would get there first anyway - they seem (quite correctly) to take a firm line on anyone posting codes.

You are not allowed to post such things in this community, please remember and get your own. You can call 'em, send an e-mail or get a key by chatting with them.
If you want a key you have to spend time for it
Nothing's for free in life ^^

Get behind a US IP address (proxy/VPN) and get on MS chat. You'll have a code in 5 minutes if you follow the "Activation by chat (with proof)" thread, I posted my results in there.

Come on, guys... life is not as difficult as you might think sometimes.
I currently live in Eastern Europe, too - but by mistake, I sent an e-mail to the South-African support of Microsoft, with all the data they usually ask for. One day later, I got my activation code.
Just be gentle, they will help you, whatever solution you will select.

Please note that the posting of WP7 activation codes is STRICTLY against XDA rules.

if you can't even make a skype (free) call, you should retire from the internet.

NO!, once you use a code more then 3 times, all they disactiviate it, Meaning what?
all 3 phones that use the same code will not have MS services anymore.
So no that's a bad idea...Get your own code.
it's not that hard theres many threads showing different ways you can get it jees.

It's hard to get the code from M$.Make a story with noob question and ask them to help you.They will help you for sure.
For me:
I got the code via e-mail through the step below:
-I use e-mail account and choose my country as location.
-Make a story with noob question and ask them to help.
-Provide them with true information. Name,Phone Number,E-mail address.
-Got the Activation code.My phone is activated and So far so good.
I think they[M$] don't care where ever you use your phone or where ever you live.

[Q] Some questions about activating Live

So I ordered an HD2 from Ebay, with WP7 installed and activated, however the seller said that he doesn't have the code anymore.
I have 2 questions:
Is the code generated for a Live account, or for a single device?
Is it stored somewhere after activation? If so, how do you get it?

Just call MS support, they will give you one without too many questions (for me it was only phone n° + email). Just say you bought a windows phone, which is asking for an activation code.
I don't think you can get a number back, you have to store it somewhere to be able to use it again. I think it is linked to a live account, which can have more than 1, but not 100% sure about it.

WP7 phones aren't officially sold in Russia, so I don't think I can get the code..

Using Skype, call MS in The United States

Hey guys, I called Russian MS support, and they gave me the activation code!

Could you please tell me the toll free number for activating in India?

Go to MS website, look for contact at the bottom, then by phone.
You will get a number, maybe not free but cheap
Call them, try to get somebody as fast as you can (usually I press many times '*') and ask for the number of the activation service, which should be a local or free call..

Activate Windows live ID by Phone

Just wanted to share my experience when trying to activate the live capabilities on WP7 for the HD2.
I had read all the methods and in fact this is the easiest (or at leas it was for me).
I live in Spain so i called the Spanish Microsoft Support: tel 91 754 70 10
I think the hardest step is getting the phone number, really hard to get in contact with them!!
Once you call you get a machine answer, follow the steps until you get through to an operator, he/she will ask you how can they assist you, just say that you want to use your XBOX live ID hotmail account on your WP7 phone and they will even say to you, oh you must need the 5 line activation code. I said i suppose its that, so then she asked me for my full name, phone number and an email address.
Once given, that was it, she put me on hold for a moment and then gave me the code.
As simple as that, hope it works for you as well!
My only concern now is that if i flash mi phone again, will the activation code stil work for me??

Hey guys, im from venezuela, is 9:24 am here, and since yesterday im trying to have live services in mi phone, and nothing, the phone number of microsoft helpdesk here dont have the option to activate the phone, via chat with microsoft us they only give me the same phone number, i even send a email to microsoft india trying to get the freaking code, dont know nobody in US, if some of you can help me to get one, please let me know, pm me or anything, even smoke signals work... thx

acivation fixed finally
all what you want to do is to call the customer service in usa by skype, it is free like police so you don't need credits to call them the only hard step is that they will ask you about your phone so give them any number in usa and any email and they will give you the activation code, you can find their number by searching for it in google.. it works i live in Egypt and i gut my activation code all will take about 15 minutes
