I've been using Nova Prime on my phone and decided to try it on my Iconia. It has a lot of customization, and the Prime version has gesture shortcuts, the ability to hide apps in the app drawer and some nice transition animations. My favorite feature is that you can long hold on your screen to add Widgets

How did you get the dock on the tablet? Mine doesn't seem to have that option.

It's not a dock I used different color cons on my app folders and put them on the bottom row. And the 3rd picture is my phone. Only the phone version has a dock.
Have you tried apex I find it a little smother and more stable nova crashed on me alot

Nope haven't tried it yet but I will I haven't had any issues with Nova whatsoever. The beta was super buggy but the newest version is stable.

Agreed and when u use root explorer to make it a system app it looks like stock but give you so much more. Plus I think its more fluid I do wish anderweb would update his adw launcher I feel like he's kinda stuck on what to do with it since he has such a wide range of users froyo up to ics.

I gave Apex a shot... It's definitely smooth and full of options, however I get a FC every time I long hold an icon in the app drawer to make a shortcut.
Edit: I found the developer's thread on xda... Launcher needs to be pushed to system/app not installed via the market. Works flawlessly now.

What was your rows vs columns settings for your desktop grid option in Nova? Mine looks smaller than yours. I think I have the wrong settings.
I am running Apex from market so far without issue. How do you push it to system/ap ? Thanks in advance. OK- got it.

As the subject reads, I would love miui with stock icons. I know some of you may not agree, but people say that my phone looks a lot like an iphone at work when I show it off running miui. That's not a bad thing, I personally don't like it though. Anyway, if someone could come out with a "stock" theme (or whatever your want to call it) then that would be amazing.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
You could just use LauncherPro or a similar dock. The icons will still have the colored box around them, but they will be much smaller. Obviously the four big icons at the bottom will be gone as well.
That's the thing though, I like miui's launcher, but I don't the icons. I don't like their blocky-ness, if that makes much sense.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
I agree. The icons blockiness and the fact the app icons can't go into a "drawer" are the only reasons I went back to Virtuous.
+1000000000
No app drawer
No android stock Icons
Despite the fact that this MIUI Rom is awesome, those 2 things made me going back to my old android stock ROM.
And what is the interest to put an alternative launcher since if you put a launcher (LauncherPro, Zeam,..) You lose the MIUI advantages...
They should considerate that app drawer (and putting app in that drawer) is (in a ergonomic point of view) is the best thing ... Since Day 1 there's a "menu" in every phone, and seeing all my apps on the homescreen is a little bit ... disappointing me !

There's a theme in the online theme section called Android2.3 that will give you the stock icons

...on our Galaxy S,...
... But where is the Gingerbread launcher?!
Let me explain.
I've tried all launchers,free,paid,good,bad... But my favourite and best is the one from nexus s,or the "real" gingerbread... And I had it!... on froyo... And it worked perfectly! But when I upgraded to gb(jvb) and installed all the gb launchers I could find, they worked, but not perfectly,on the app drawer, all of the apps are blurry! And thats really bad...
Why is that? Is it maybe becouse the market versions of gb launcher are compiled for older versions of android? Is there a way to compile a version only for 2.3? would that solve blurry ugly icons? Is there a way to install the apk from nexus s? Does anyone have any idea how to solve this? I would really appriciate any answer/help. And please, dont try to tell me: "try adw/lp/go/ or any.other launcher" :-D
Thanks...

Search for the gb launcher for Nexus S, I use that one
Buy Nexus S then if u need that launcher. Galaxy S have tw launcher.
Use simply honey rom! Besides all the other goodies it's got, it has the GB launcher and GB keyboard.

I don't like Touchwiz either so I installed ADW Launcher ex with the gingerbread theme. It looks exactly like the stock GB launcher IMO except that it has far more options to configure your UI.
Wave launcher might be worth a look .

@Duckbert
I'll second that. ADW launch + Gingerbread theme & icons - perfect !
I bought a used SGS from a friend best shape.
Then I upgraded it to rev B 2.3.3 and wantes to see the score in Quadrant.
The score was little 938 but at System information i got
Current freq: 400MHz
Any idea why?
So finally we have the gingerbread...well we did but it was taken away
Prior to 4.4 I had been using APEX launcher. It was very clean and simple. However, they have ceased to update their launcher for a while now. Does anyone know if a launcher available out there that has similar characteristics while maintaining the same aesthetics as 4.4? Thanks XDA!
Give Nova launcher a shot. I've been using it for a while now and wouldn't go back to any other launcher.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
To add on to jayclarke94, Nova is definitely a good--if not better--alternative to Apex, however, if you want the aesthetics of 4.4 OOTB it may not hurt to opt-in for Nova's beta launcher. You can find the opt-in link on their G+ community page: https://plus.google.com/communities/103449253667195874971. It's totally free, will give you the look and feel of the Google Experience Launcher, and--better yet--has loads of customization options!

Another vote for Nova. Launcher is quick, has a lot of options, and the beta has the transparent bars.
I went for prime and I feel it was worth the couple bucks to support the dev and get the gestures and unread counts.
I use Holo Launcher HD. It just updated to include KK transparency. I've used it for over a year now and like it the best. Very similar to Nova Beta but includes a few features that I really like that Nova leaves out.
Check it out, its free & on the market.
Apex is still being developed. I am on new beta for kitkat right now. Just find official thread to find release.

Same here. Also, the free version of Apex has most of the paid features from Nova such as gestures.
Another one for nova Kit Kat
As the topic says whats your favorite launcher? Im using the free version of nova launcher atm, but i would like to know og theres something better before i buy it.
I use stock the stock TW launcher, but Action launcher is decent.
I always use the Google Now launcher. Simple, clean and smooth
I've used Themer for the past couple years because I like custom screens, but don't want to spend a lot of time customizing every little thing. That said, since I've had the S6, Themer has been both buggy and crashing a lot. Maybe it needs a bug update for Lollipop issues.
I use Smart Launcher Pro 2.
I love this fast and simple launcher.

I have been using Nova Launcher Premium, and will also check out Smart Launcher Pro 2, why not if it works.
For a long time I used Nova Launcher Prime. The paid version.
Few months back, switched to Action Launcher 3 and it is a keeper. The Covers and shutters are fantastic ideas. It is fairly basic otherwise, but those 2 features alone along with side swipe app drawer was enough for me to switch to it.
Using it on all my devices.
For now i use TouchWiz. New version is very good.
Tested Google Now Launcher but i feel it laggy. Probably not optimized?

Was laggy for me too. I really like the swipe right to google now, but the lag kills it for me. I've been using Nova Launcher beta, and its working good for me. Swipe up for google now will have to do.
Only TouchWiz works with all stock widgets so, I prefer it lol. But Asus launcher and Terrain are good alternatives.
Enviado do meu Galaxy S6
Stock TW launcher for me too. This is the first time ever I've stuck with TW.
New tw is nice but dont like the limited app drawer. No hide apps feature
Nova Launcher Prime beta.
My Launcher on Asus Zenfone 4 [emoji1]
I use apex launcher pro @ Samsung I9300
Action launcher 3 here as well. Love it on my rooted g2 and tab pro
Smart Launcher for me. I tried several launchers the last years but this is the best so far. Simple, not much resource consuming and all apps can be categorized.

As the title says... Are there any launchers that work properly on the S8?
Trebuchet/Catapult dont even load, and most of the others have a retarded semi-transparent gradient that makes it look just hideous.
Nova has been working perfect.

Another Nova Prime works a treat...
There never was any competition
This launcher hands down
I never understood why it gets so little recognition.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ss.launcher2&hl=en
I used it back when it was SSlauncher and now total launcher never failed me
You will never look at another launcher the same way after you try this one..
A little tricky at first but that is only because it has gazillion ways (unlimited?) to config it <3
Nova works flawlessly for me. Snappy, fast, simple and lots of swipe features.
Another vote for Nova. I haven't installed it on my S8 yet but I will after I play around with it stock for awhile. But Nova never let me down and I have used it on many phones and tablets.
Yep. Nova. I tried the new version of pixel launcher released on 3 April, and it had a small amount of lag. Nova is nova. If you're used to it, it works like it does on any other device. I waiting on the supposed reboot from Apex sometime next month, however.

that might be down to a widget or something on the homescreen..

Why would a widget cause Nova to crash?

Incompatibility? Bug? Try it w/o any widgets and add them back one at a time. If it crashes before it even starts up for the first time then its probably not a widget...
Nova is the best
Nova works perfectly for me
I went kinda nuts after first getting my s8 and I tried nearly all of them out there :silly:
Hands down the best one I found was N launcher pro (it's on the play store). Not only is it beautiful but it is 100% rock solid! It has NEVER crashed on me, or at least if it did I didn't notice.
Lots of people love Nova launcher but I personally was not a fan of the way it looked. YMMV.
Hacked up a quick example of my config.
