So here's what I wanna do -
I want to use the galaxy 7.7 (preferred this model just because its the only galaxy with call function) instead of the stock head unit in my car. I was thinking of going completely wireless and streaming the audio to my car amp via a bluetooth receiver. But what would happen when I receive a call? the sound will be streamed to my amp, but what happens with the audio in / microphone ?
Would it be enough to speak straight to the tab's microphone? will the microphone be enabled at all?
The other option, which i prefer less is to run wires to my amp rather than using a bluetooth receiver, and via bluetooth connect to a hands free car kit (but this means I would have to plug in the audio each time as I wont leave the tab in my car ever)...
Any suggestions on how to get this done?
PS is there any hack available to use the call function on the galaxy tab 10.1?

Unless you have some sort of amplifier that received power and signal wirelessly, you're going to need some kind of line output converter to get audio out of the gtab 7.7 and into your amp. What you're talking about doing, if I'm understanding you correctly simply can not be done.
Work well with audio cable ^^ tested calling or streaming from 7.7

well, using an audio cable to extract the audio would be along the lines of a line output converter, like I said before
what the OP is talking about is having something that's completely wireless, that will act as a source unit and interface with his amplifier ... wirelessly. Simply just won't work that way.
I have considered doing this (just ordered a GT 6800) but see now that there are android head units starting to come out. Still, you can always use bluetooth to connect the GT to your sound system. It will have good stereo sound and also have the mic input.
Here's my set up: Tab 7.0 plus wifi only but I use a hotspot on the road. I'm using cables to connect audio but thought about bluetooth, but I think you get better sound with cables maybe not! why buy a head unit $800.00 that doesn't give you a 1/4 of the functionality you get with the Tab.

i use bluetooth for my audio because i like the way i can use my steering wheel controls to do next/previous track on the tablet.
The audio is fine for me, but current bluetooth still not as good audio-wise as a real cable. If you use a cable and power the tablet at the same time you may get a hum - if so, put a PAC SN1 to reduce the ground-loop interference.
Bandzdaddy - It looks like Torque app, am i right? I use that as well because my turbo car didn't come with a boost gauge and Torque let's me have a virtual one!

Hi, I have an XDA Serra, very pleased with this phone so far, the only downside is battery life, but hey I can live with that.
I am using it in the car for Sat Nav (Co Pilot 6) or in car holder for calls on the move.
Unfortunately the sound generated from the handset speaker isn't great and therefore I would like to be able to either use a car holder that amplifies the sound, or use the phone through the a car stereo.
My current stereo is pretty basic so I am looking to change it for a Bluetooth model, however I would like to know what works and which model to buy (not too expensive).
I would like to be able to 1) hear phone calls 2) run co-pilot 3) play music through the car stereo. Is it possible to do this through a BT capable Stereo? anyone got this working succesfully?

There is another issue with the sound: as the speaker ist on the back side of the phone, most car holders will cover the speaker, so the volume goes down. Same happens when you lay it on the table.

dark_lobito, thanks for your response, I must admit I didn't pick up on that at first, just checked my car kit and it appears that the speaker is not fully covered, but is blocking some of the speaker.
I bought this http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=169986 which is OK for the price, and gives enough sound for a quiet room indoors. It's not amazing but is good enough for using as a portable radio/music player, but not in the car.
I have been looking and there are quite a few car stereos with BT audio streaming, as well as phone capabilities. But I need to know if it works as I want it to before splashing out.
I am hoping somebody has got these functions working with a BT Car Stereo to advise me.

My car has an Auxilliary input, so I used the adapter that came with the phone and plugged the charger and Aux In wire to the phone. That sends the sound through the speakers of your car.
Also when you use the adapter that came with the phone it lets you use the microphone also so it works perfectly.

samz465, thanks for reply, but I'm not sure what u mean? The only adapter I got with the phone (O2 XDA Serra version) was a cable that allows u to connect to a 3.5 jack.

Well tonight I connected that to the phone's dongle via the 3.5mm input.
It sounds so good with my speakers ..BUT when I connect the USB headset that came with it, and make a phone call, they can't hear me but I can hear them just LOUD
Am I doing something wrong?

You might want to check out the Motorola T605 - Bluetooth hands-free car kit. It has stereo BT profile and an FM transmitter.
Might save you the cost and installation of a new head unit.
I've never used the T605 so I can't vouch for how good it is.
i've bought a car kit fm transmitter from ebay & made a quick review of it here. it works ok but you can only charge it if you don't use the fm transmitter & vice versa, it does not have a speaker unfortunately... does the job ok otherwise. decent/good enough sound for GPS & even for music playback
Too get better sound you should also try SRS WOW HD. It boosts volume and certainly clears up the mumble. Voices are recognizable as voices instead of monsters coming out of a can.
Does anyone know of a car stereo that allows (2) simultaneous bluetooth connections? Ive searched and obviously, they will allow multiple connections... but not at the same time.
Here is why I ask. I would like to use my Tab in its new Samsung car mount for media playing. But since I also still need to have a phone, I would like THAT to connect also.
Im asking for too much arent I? Anyone try a 1/8th inch audio plug to RCA cable? I guess I could plug the TAB in via the AUX port on my car stereo when its in the dock.

My Sony DSXS300BTX connects to both my Captivate for phone and my GTab for music. It will switch source when a call comes in, and resume playing when the call is done (can't recall if it pauses or just mutes the music though).
My girl's Kenwood DNX5160 can also do dual BT connections for phone+music.

Here's the scenario. I'm on my phone and want to switch to the installed Nexus for audio being pushed into the truck stereo system via bluetooth (still on the call going thru the phone itself). The 3GN7 would end up being nothing more than a headset but I can't find a way to get it to work.
I installed the MoDaCo Rom recently to test the tethering ability... still no dice. I've tried this on both an S3 and iPhone 4S.

Am I understanding correctly that you want your phone to connect by Bluetooth to the car for calls but not audio, and your Nexus 7 to the car for audio? So your system would auto switch between them depending on which you need?
I know you can disable the audio side of the phone's Bluetooth profile so it doesn't conflict with the tablet trying to connect for the same, but on my Galaxy Nexus that setting had trouble sticking between uses.

My Nexus 7 would be docked and that dock would be wired directly into the car stereo. The phone would connect to the tablet via bluetooth, it's audio would pass through to the stereo.
Ah. I don't think Android has implemented any sort of Bluetooth audio receiver functionality.
Also keep in mind the N7 has no audio input via the headphone jack. So even if it could function as a BT audio receiver for the phone, it would have no way to receive hardwired audio input to pass back to the phone (aside from its built in mic).

Not that I could find either. I wonder if there is a hardware hack I can perform downstream of the dock and before the audio amp that would act as an audio controller of sorts. Basically allow hardwired audio thru unless it finds a bluetooth signal sending audio (phone call); and reverts once complete (call ending).
To my knowledge all cars with Entune have their own Bluetooth receiver capabilities for calls and audio... is this not sufficient for your needs?

Removing Entune itself is what I'm after. When you look at annual cost of the service, usability of the system, etc... this is a high priced bluetooth receiver with junk built all around it. Replacing Entune with a Nexus 7 would be a much better solution... as long as I can get this one issue resolved.

I don't think you will find the N7 to be a satisfactory replacement, then. You'd be much better off finding a solution that lets you still use the Bluetooth receiver that's built into the car.
I have a JVC headunit in my car & my truck. I have the N7 send audio via bluetooth & my GNex connects to it as a phone only (Set it in the bluetooth settings to do phone only). I use Tablet Talk to allow me to answer the call via the N7's screen instead of hunting for my phone. Bluetooth audio works for me since i am listening to podcasts at 1.4x speed, so audio quality has been good enough.
Besides, if you're listening to MP3s, the audio for Bluetooth might still be good enough.

Along with the install of the head unit, I am installing a Rocketfish Bluetooth Receiver with apt-X capability. The plan is to pair my phone with the Rocketfish play my music collection off my Samsung Galaxy S4 through the bluetooth Rocketfish (using apt-X) which is power-sourced to the car battery (switched) and plugged into the Kenwood head unit's AUX plug. This should provide brilliant sound from my phone through the car speakers.
QUESTIONS
1. Since the Kenwood head unit has bluetooth functionality as well, do you foresee any interference or issues with music playing through my phone?
2. Is it possible to pair the phone to the Kenwood head unit (to use phone via car speakers) IN ADDITION TO the Rocketfish (for music)?
3. If number 2 doesn't work, is it possible to go through the Rocketfish for audio and then switch to bluetooth on the Kenwood head unit for incoming calls?

I guess it depends on the profiles offered by the Kenwood. My setup is to connect to the BMW inbuilt Bluetooth hands free, connect to an aptX Samsung receiver with a headphones out port plugged into the aux port of the car audio. When I get a call, it switches to the hands free automatically

Check out an app called sound about. You can choose what device different audio uses. For example you have media to be played through head unit and phone calls through you're other bluetooth device

1. The former. Headphones out port from the apt x receiver to the head unit. The phone has nothing physically attached
2. HS3000. Google brings up loads of results for it.
3. No specific apps. Just regular bluetooth, with Play Music running .
I'm working on a DIY project that requires the audio bluetooth have higher power (wattage) to drive the speakers. Regular bluetooth "headset" (voice & audio) adapters just don't have much power in them.
A work-around could be to have two different Bluetooth adapters working at the same time. One would be for microphone only (voice). The second would be an amplifier for the audio.
Now unfortunately, I can't just hook up an amplifier in-line with a normal Bluetooth headset adapter because that would nullify the full-duplex capability.
So my question to you guys is, is Android capable of connecting to two different Bluetooth adapters at the same time? One for microphone and one for speakers, and have them work together without hiccups?
I know it can do two separate for phone and media. But the device will kick the media Bluetooth aside for the higher priority of the phone. Can you some how use an otg cable to Bluetooth adapter as another option?

From what you're saying, it sounds like when a phone call comes in, the mic will work. But the phone will no longer send the audio (phone audio in this case) to the speakers using the media bluetooth connection.
Bummer. And I am afraid you might be right.
No, cords are not allowed at all.
This is for a helmet setup.

Yes, this does work. I use my Anker BT to talk and my Mercedes BT for Audio at the same time. This works really well (ROM is stock 4.3)
