IMEI backup/restore - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hello,
Just got my mobile from repair due to nulled imei issue caused by installing official 2.3.
The shop told me that only the carcass is old all the reste is new, screen, board, etc.
Now before I start playing around with new roms, is there of safe backup the IMEI and restore it if happens again?
Thanks

I'm from Portugal and yes its true, what was the point of saying something that is not?
Thats what I was told by the official shop (TMN).
The sticker behind the battery with all those numbers is also new with new numbers.
I notice the screen is new to.
So what they said that only the carcass remains, apparently is true

1. Your phone should be rooted
2. Open that app you installed and look for "backup imei"
App backup your phone's imei. And after that, when your imei nulled, root your phone if it isn't, install that app again and look for "restore imei"
And don't delete any folder named "5irom" or similar. It contains 3 img files. They are important.

THANSK M8
will try that

On a lighter note --
Steal someone's efs backup, flash it, generate/get a valid IMEI from one of those sources who were doing good business during the "Chinese Phone" fiasco in India and force feed that IMEI

should i use the efs which is of only g3 one's or can i use any android one's???
Srinivas buddy - i would like you to note that i am no techno whiz and therefore my comments on this problem may also be taken with a pinch of salt. If i had to hazard a guess, i would surely try a efs backup from G3 rather than any other phone. The problem which will arise after you have flashed the efs & its succesfully working, is that there will be potential conflict of the IMEI in case both phones are active. Therefore, it is imperative to change the IMEI at once - and people do say that getting a valid IMEI is possible
To repeat myself - i am in no way responsible for any damage which may result from the above and hope that the DEVs have a better solution than my wild-ass theory

ok...but im a little bit confused...can u clearly explain me...sorry for that
What i mean is that when you "borrow" the efs backup from another phone and flash it to yours - then both the phones will have same IMEI since both carry the same efs information. This may cause problems when both the phones are active on the cellular network and i believe it may also be illegal. Therefore, it is important that you should get a new IMEI number as soon as possible.
Please remember that this is all guesswork and not recommended. However, if you dont care about possibly bricking your phone then atleast choose a efs backup from a phone which is exactly the same model as yours & running the same build / firmware + consult the DEVs before this

i don't know wheather it will work or not, but just try this,
copy and paste efs folder of some other galaxy 3 to system folder using root explorer and edit .imei file with text editor and type your imei which will be there in bill or it will be on box and save it.

Check the above link and get yourself a valid/genuine IMEI number instead of getting into trouble!
if everything else fails, flash the official eclair and update it to froyo via kies. then take it to a samsung centre and say you lost your imei during official update through kies. they ought to fix it

I think its pretty much worth a try, to be completely on the safe side u could just flash a firmware with bootloader, when Odin is at bootloader flashing pull the USB cable and the battery, your phone will be a brick then. Just go to service center and tell them that it didn't turn on after a firmware update with kiss.

If it gets only unmounted, can t we mount it back using terminal or something??
Or is ODIN the only way by which we can remount it??

Press them that it is not your fault. It happened due to your official upgrade. New IMEI does not costs more than 50 rs. Ask them there names and tell them that u will go to consumer forum against them as they are trying to cheat u. Write few mails to samsung support telling your fabricated story and response of service center. Threaten them about court case if they refuse to help.
please help,i have a phone now that doesn't show imei at all and, doesn't recognize sim card...what did i do wrong???how to fix it?
Search in the xda g3 section, there was somewhere a thread about this.
i searched for two days....nothing...
There is an efs.7z attached file in imei backup thread. It mày help you
yeah found that to,copyed with odin, still nothing...
I Had also lost my EMEI.
Just went to the samsung center and behaved as if i knew nothing.
Just told that the phone is not catching the network.
They themselfs identified that the IMEI was lost and they will have to re-write the IMEI (which is written at the back of the cell).. they kept the cell for a day and fixed it with the same old IMEI.
Since the mobile was still in warranty i paid nothing.
i took it also to a repair center, but mine is not under warranty...i will have to pay 30-50 euros now......

@Srinivas - Just to make u feel better...don't take it as a serious matter though i don't know if it's rectifiable but why do u need an IMEI for..
I mean seriously it won't even come in use even if u lost ur phone(It's India)..sadly it's true !!!
As far as selling it in the future is concerned...i guess no vendor will hav any problem here (might suffer by 100-200 bucks) but thats it !!

[Q] Please, help!!! repair IMEI Galaxy S4 GT-I9500

18/12/13
Hello all, there are some people pm me with problem of fake imei or not registered on network. I'd like to tell you who have these problems try to search through the site first. If there is no way you can do to retrieve your original imei back then please, pm me your email address or else I won't answer your message. I must look after my daughter full time now so please be patience if I reply your mail late. Thank you
Angel S.
Wait a minute!!!
Hello all,
Down below you will see the original thread of this topic and the help from many people who are very kind to me. Anyway, I just wanted to update that I found a way to get my original IMEI back now. But... still can't make any call...
So, for everyone who has the problem of "Error mount efs" just wait a minute before try to do anything with your phone... I have posted the new thread about the problem of my phone but seems like people like to come and post in this thread more...
First Issue!!!!! for people who have efs corrupt...
Your problem started at the same point as mine... If you need me to help please, kindly explain all the details to me to my private message box... and please leave your e-mail so, I can mail you back in case I don't have time to come and answer you here... Normally when your efs corrupt, your phone can't boot up normally. You will stuck on Bootloop... which is softbrick... so, don't panic... be calm... everything's gonna be fine... I was panic at that time and ended up that... there must be some mistake been made to my phone when I sent it to repair... So I suggest you who have this efs corrupt problem to take a deep breath and search through internet a lot... learn more about your phone first before you do anything...
Second Issue!!!!! for people who have imei changed...
For the phone that has problem about imei changed only...(no error mount efs) I strongly suggest you to... restore your efs backup first... If you don't have efs backup... Then I suggest you to go back to the last firmware you are on... if that's not help... let's try the stock firmware of your phone... If the single file is not enough let's do it separately with PDA, MODEM and CSC...
I have learned new thing about the Samsung firmware that... they are not prefect... many firmware of Samsung can harm your efs folder and make your imei change... even though your phone never been root, never been on custom firmware, never installed infected apps, doesn't mean you will never ever have this imei problem... Again...people, be clam... everything's gonna be fine... There are tools and methods that can fix your situation... but as I said...you must know your phone first before you do anything...
BEWARE!!!!!
I must tell you the truth that I'm not an expert... I'm just the girl who has the problem with my very first Samsung phone, and I'm trying real hard to find a way out from this situation... with help from good friends of mine all around the world... They all are so kind and so helpful to me so, my phone can boot up normally again but...not completely fix yet!!! My problem is harder, tougher... and more difficult to fix... there's a tool that may fix my phone's problem now...but I just wanna try to do something else first to see what exactly is the problem of my phone... so I can give you all the details about it later, clear and true. Including the solution of these problem also...
Down below is the beginning of my problem...
Original thread:
Hello everyone,
My name is Angel from Thailand, I have problem with my S4 GT-I9500 two weeks ago about "error mount efs" anyway, after a week of searching for solution I've finally made my phone boot up normally.
But the IMEI is a fake one "004999010640000" I'm trying to find a solution for this problem but so, far...going nowhere... tried many methods from this site and many other sites but still can't fix it... the phone right now can connect to wi-fi, I can use social app and connect internet as usual but can't call out or accept call...
The phone is on latest stock firmware I9500XXUBMEA root already... I try to look in the files from efs folder, open nv_data.bin in Hex Editor but can't see IMEI anywhere... I'm not sure if it's the right place to look for or not but after search through internet for week I found some picture of nv_data.bin in Hex Editor, it's from the good phone with good IMEI, I can see that in text field it has IMEI there...but mine is not!!!
Then I found article about EEPROM, that it contains the real IMEI permanently. So, I'm trying to find a way to read or pull out that file from EEPROM but...there's none can answer this...
So, I'm back to search for IMEI repair service, but no one can guarantee that it supports model GT-I9500...
So, I'd like to ask...if anyone has idea of how to fix this IMEI problem?? I'm so exhausted now... I just bought this phone for only one month...now it can't make any call... I really need help for this issue... so, please...if anyone has idea for a way out, please point me direction...(not SAMSUNG Service...my phone is not in service...) Thank you so much for your time...

Hello,
Well, very easy..lol... I never use custom rom before..so my S4 always be on stock rom.. Last update that I did I updated through Kies.. all was well.. my phone is root..and I decided to find out which app will suits me best so I did install and uninstall many apps and usually after uninstall I'll do wipe cahe and dalvik.. so I did the same as I did everytime.. the last app that I used was swapper2.. but I don't think it's the app that make my phone down..or maybe it is..I'm not sure.. all I did is I'm about to uninstall the app swapper2..but since I did re-partition my extSdCard..and use it as swap for ram I think I should unmount the extSD. first.. then reboot the phone and will come back to uninstall the app.. and that's when it happened..I didn't make any back up...the last one that I had I just delete it earlier of that day...but well, since the normal backup can't backup the efs folder...I'm still wonder what's the difference it could be...
After I unmount the extSD. from swapper2 I reboot the phone..then it stuck on Samsung logo..and go nowhere since then.. I used the swapper2 for 2 days already and the phone was fine.. so, I'm not sure if it's the app or me did something wrong.. after that the S4 stuck and can't boot up normally...
A week passed...after visit the shop that I bought the phone from and another shop..there's no one there can make my phone boot up...then they said..maybe something inside broke down..need to change..when I asked "Oh...what is broke down?" none can't tell...so, I decided to get my phone back from them..and started searching on internet.. many people have problem with efs corrupted.. then I found the article on a web call DroidView... the guy there.. Mr.Rakesh helped me out... actually on this site has threads about the code to mount efs also.. but that time my phone can't boot...there's no way to install Terminal Emulator app from Google Play...
At last...the hero appeared...^_^ The tool that I used to enter the code that Mr.Rakesh gave me was the Terminal Emulator...which I used it through the Aroma File Manager that I opened in recovery mode of PhilZ Touch Recovery... so, must give PhilZ and his friends the full credit for that...without his recovery...I can do nothing... I tried to connect my phone through adb shell but it said the status of device is off all the time...there's no way that can use any code to force the efs to mount without the PhilZ tool...
After that... the phone works just fine... except...the IMEI is lost...(well..not lost..it's the fake one...some say it's a default IMEI that your phone will use if the efs files corrput and the system can't find your IMEI data...) so I can't make any call... when I check the details of the phone it shows the firmware..it shows the baseband..it shows the kernel...it shows everything the phone must show you except the IMEI. !!! when I check the files in efs folder...the serial data there also be all zero... now I'm stuck with this phone for two weeks... eat less...sleep less... and still can't find a way to fix the IMEI... I search on many sites...some forum have members that have IMEI problem like mine also.. some decided to sent it back to Samsung Service...but even the Samsung Service can't fix the problem... they changed the motherboard instead!!! my phone is not in service...it's a phone from outside country...the csc code shows XME, means it's the phone for sell in Malaysia... so...what I can do now is keep on searching for solution... I'm not intend to give up til I find one... I never fix the phone before...in fact...I have no idea about the android phone... but if I can fix one problem of it...then I may fix another problem too... with all the help from many people who share their good details in those articles and threads...(God bless them all...)
So, that's my story... I hope nothing will happen to your phone... It's such a heartache for me...coz this phone is a gift from my boyfriend... he works so hard to bought it for me..just because of my curiosity...I broke my gift in less than a month!!! (stupid me!!!)
At last... just so you know...again... there's no one...and nothing...as far as I know by now that can fix the IMEI problem of the model GT-I9500 of Galaxy S4. I'm so curious again...that who's gonna be the first... but not me...for sure...the Hex Editor made me sick already...since yesterday...like my eyeballs gonna pop out from my head...lol... ^_^
Very long story huh?... just wanna make sure no one made mistake like me again... so, please after make full back up of your system and datas... just hit the button to backup the efs too!!!

Holy **** .. Thanxs for writing such a detailed Overview if the Issue.
Well i hope your phone works fine.. I can understand how u feel when the phone is faulty and you cant do anything to fix the same
I had read about EFS backup and restore in the SGS3 forum.. Maybe You can Give a Try there.. Create a Post there maybe they are able to help you out. As SGS4 has less devs here then SGS3 forum.

Hello there,
Well, I've read about the Octopus Box already... it can read/write efs but no support for repair IMEI yet... No box & dongle can repair IMEI for model GT-I9500 as far as I know... but if there's one that confirm it can repair my phone's IMEI please, let me know...
Thank you so much for your help... :good:

Your IMEI is listed on your original box as well as on the back of your phone under the battery. If you were able to enter a fake IMEI, could you not just enter your IMEI that's printed on the back of your phone?
Thank you...

Well...I've read lots of articles and threads...in many websites and forums...no matter what kind of phone or model...I need information...lots of information... I know that the SG4 is quite new...so it's gonna take some time for us all to get to know it and find a way out to solve the phone's problem... I still believe that at last...someone's gonna figure it out... when it is "WE" who created it then it must be "WE" who can fixing it now...don't "WE"?...lol... anyway...thank you so much... I'll keep looking...

Well,You said that ur BF gifted u and this phone is from a different Country So why not send it Back to Ur BF and Ask him to Give to Samsung Center and get it covered under warranty?
Basically, send the Phone back from whichever country it was bought from and get the Board replaced under warranty?
mmm...

Well,, let me explain it to you like this my friend... In Thailand..we have 3 major kinds of mobile market...1. we buy the original real phone from the authorized seller.. just like from the Samsung mobile shop or the provider of your baseband...(mine is DTAC) 2. we buy the original real phone that been imported from another country...which sell through the small mobile shops that you can see all over the country...there are many of them... 3. we buy copy phone from any mobile shop that sell copy phone...
Now... the 1.group...you'll get warranty from the shop you bought the phone from...software&hardware...for a year at least... but as you know that..if the service know you root the phone..flash custom firmware..or drop it real hard..or accidentally make it wet...the service will not fix it for you...if you want them to fix...you have to pay...
2.group...you'll get warranty from the shop where you bought the phone from...mostly...they'll support you with software for a year...maybe less... in my case...they gave me support for software 1 year...problem is...when I asked for help...they can't help me...and they try to make it easier for them by told me that there's some hardware in my phone broke...if I want to use my phone again...I need to pay for the hardware and the mechanic man who fix it... so, I decided not to accept that choice unless I really have no choice left...
3.group...usually you'll get nothing... but some shop will give you support for software also... as you know that the copy phone is much more cheaper...but...break down so easy also...
My phone was bought in Thailand...from a shop that import the phone from outside the country...the price of this kind if phone is cheaper than the one in Samsung shop... but it's the original one too... only you won't get the service from Samsung...that's all...
So, I guess I can't send it back to its birthplace... coz the shop that bought the phone from won't send it for me...
That's why I'm here...

Its the EFS issue. I've faced (still facing) the same problem. I'd say visit the samsung service center. You can also look into asansam box like its being suggested here. Some service center around you will probably have it already. If anything works for you, let me know.

Does your brother still have his IMEI? if it is still there he must first backup efs, fsc, and fsg then flash back to stock. That fixed it for me.
So I took it to a mobile repairing center ( not Samsung company ) he told me he have to use a super emi number for the device . he will try using this and then he will call me back . it will cost something like 15$

Let me know if it works. I've had to do the same. Gave it to a 3rd party service center that had an SPB/Asansam Box. The only doubt the guy there had was whether 4.4.2 on N9005 is serviceable with Super IMEI. Lets hope it works out. Else I'd try Mirek's method of rebuilding the EFS with original IMEI.
ok here is the thing
Samsung Repairing center informed that the device is out of warranty and it can only be repaired by changing the main board which should cost something around 300$
, we tried our luck with a third party repairing center who fixed the original main board on the device , in a hard ware modding way that costed my brother 70$
I just don't know how he repaired it , but at least this phone is working back again

S8 no service 1 month after rooting

Hi guys, this is a difficult one.
I have a buddy who really shouldnt be playing around with his phone. He has a samsung galaxy S8 on EE. He decided to root it because he wanted to recover some deleted files from it. Obviously its voided the warranty.
The trouble is a few weeks after he rooted it its now showing no service. Just to make matters difficult hes now played around trying to fix it. It is no longer rooted and it has the samsung official firmware on it. Theres no files on the internal storage to give clues to what he actually did and to make matters worse he has no idea what he actually did to root it. He seems very unclear on what he did or why he needed to root it.. Not a good start.
I have put a sim in it and it does ask what network the sim is on but says no service.
The trouble here is I am not sure where is best to start and I want to review my options before fiddling too much.
So far
I have flashed the stock firmware from Sam knows.
Also factory reset before and after.
Checked Knox status. Showing warranty void.
Currently not rooted and was not when I first got it
IMEI number is still present.
Tried multiple sim cards. 2 on EE and one on giffgaff
Phone storage is blank as if phone is new.
Phones owner mentioned twrp but bootloader is currently stock
Have you checked to see if the phone still has an imei number. He may have messed that up. If he has. Unless he's backed up his efs partition, ( think that's what it's called ) then he may have an expensive small tablet Instead of a phone...
Yes it still has an IMEI
download stock firmware from Sammobile and flash stock, then see, could also be problem with sim card...
I have tried flashing a sock ROM this morning. Also tried more than one sun card. Same result.
Maybe the phone has been locked by carrier ? some carriers do that if a customer is not paying subscribtion. Where did he get his s8 ?
Have you heard of that happening in the UK. As far as I was aware these days in the UK the phone is considered your property.
If it has been blocked like that could I get it unblocked?
Are you sure, the IMEI displayed is correct? Because it sounds like an IMEI brick, my old Galaxy S3 had the same issue.
It's IMEI became a generic one, that didn't match the original one on the box.
Ok I'll check with the owner. See if he still has the box. Is there anywhere else I could find the IMEI if he has thrown the box
You can try checking the bill of his S8. I bought my S8 on contract in a local retail store and got a bill, that included the IMEI.
EDIT: I just checked, the IMEI can also be found imprinted on the rear glass on the bottom.

You can check the status of an imei number online, there's a few websites that do it, it will tell you if it's been blacklisted or not.
I'm from the UK and I didn't pay my bill for 3 months once and they never blocked my phone, just deactivated my aim service until I eventually paid. So there's something dodgy going on tbh, how did this person purchase this phone?

I have just checked it on imeipro.info.
It is showing as clean and the IMEI number is correct.

I actually have no idea what else to suggest, if you've factory reset it, flashed firmware via odin and checked imei and all is okay then I'm unsure what else you can try. Usually issues with service is down to efs which leaves you win a corrupt imei but this is all okay for you. Can you ding out what software build was flashed? The build number.

Sadly not. Browser history has been cleared and files have been deleted. He said it had been running fine for about a month so not sure from memory which one he used. He knows he used TWRP to root it but thats about it. Does not sound like he really understands the process, just used google and skipped through without reading.

Hmm I mean no offense to your friend there, but the root process is so simple not sure how he managed messed it up tbh, but it is what it is. If you're able to contact him get him to go to settings-about phone-software information. In this section it will show what firmware build he has, there has to be more to this.

Its not so much a matter of whats on it now. Its more a matter of what was on it when it died.
Currently
Baseband version G950FXXU1AQ17
Build Number NRD90M.G950FXXU1AQ17
Anything else on there that might be useful
The one I have on it now is the one I flashed via ODIN

That's the latest firmware available, the only last thing I could suggest is to use Samsung smart switch software and do a firmware recovery. If after that it doesn't work then I am all out if ideas.
