Hi folks,
I have had 3 blades so far, 1 I gave to my father and the other one is now in use by a good friend.
All have suffered from a not so sensitive touchscreen. If I compare them with my HD2 and DHD the blade is less sensitive.
The best example is using my pinky and trying to get to the programs. For me without physically holding the device itself it is really hard to do.
The same applies when the blade is in the carholder and I get an incoming call. It's frustrating, and dangerous, to drag with the tip of my finger because it sometimes doesn't work.
I have seen searching and there are some other devices which seem to suffer the same thing and people found values to change and correct this.
A nice example is this http://android.modaco.com/topic/309...ity-only-tested-on-liquide-110005-based-roms/
Now I am not a developer or a Android guru but maybe someone with a bit of knowledge could help me, and probably others, out here.
Edit: noticed something. If I connect my laptops, which is on my lap now, usb to the blade I can perfectly use my pinky to control the screen. How odd
Fully agreed with you. I also want to know a possible way to enhance the touch sensitivity of the Blade. And its really strange that its touch doesn't response well until you hold it in your hand.
no it cant be applied to blade i tried that command
How to use this
Provide steps please

Hi,
I think I may have made a mistake, but was wondering if anyone else has / has not had a similar experience.
I got my Touch HD a couple of weeks ago, and although I was completely knocked out with its amazingness ( new word, patented by me! ), something bothered me about the amount of pressure I was having to use, particularly in the centre of the screen when touching.
I know there have been tweaks and hacks posted and the pressure required on the touchscreen is variable, so I fiddled and tweaked and carried on. It was only after I started using FingerKeyboard2 (which also warrants "amazingness" status.) that I noticed that when holding keys down and releasing for special characters and numbers, my HD was registering a second press upon release. So when holding for number "5" I got a letter "t" too when I released. This really annoyed me.
I've had a look from a varry shallow angle at the screen, with the device turned off and pressed in the middle and compared to the edges, and it seems as though the digitizer "domes" over the screen. There's a large void in the middle that's not present at the edges, which means that to register touches in the middle, I have to press the digitizer against the screen. I think this is causing the double presses, and having to apply extra pressure in the middle.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I've taken it to CPW today and they've sent off for a replacement, which will arrive on Monday
Has anyone else noticed this, is it normal and I've sent a perfectly good Touch HD away? Have a look for me please, and spare an old(ish) man his sanity!
I can only speak for myself but, specially after tweaking, the hd screen is VERY sensible to touch, no need for hard presses at all. I think you actually had a faulty machine...
My touch screen is very good, shame the wifi has died on it and it's doing strange things. Mine will be back to CPW as well
My touchscreen works very well, without tweaking I think it does the job and recognizes my presses easily and accurately. However, my problem is that I can see the touch sensors even when the screen is turned on... I see small green-coloured dots, in a regular grid, specially when I have a white background. Annoying, but I think I can live with it... Better than send it to the service and wait a long time, with the risk of getting a new screen which may have dead pixels (I don't have any now).
Thanks for your replies everyone, makes me feel better about not having my Touch HD over the weekend. I pick up my replacement tomorrow and I think I'm suffering from withdrawal already.
right now........I HATE this phone
the screen is so sensitive it's ruining it for me
even a bit of dust makes it impossible to type a text message. there must be a way to decrease screen sensitivity or it's going back. I'm so pissed off with it right now
Sorry. Think it quite funny.
People have been complaining how insensitive the resistive screen. Now there is a capacitive screen its the opposite.
I hope I don't eat my words in a few days when I get mine.
Quite a few people are complaining about the over sensitive screen then changing there minds after a few days.
How is the dust making it hard?
I love the screen, and tipping is super fast for me.
Best phone I ever have.
The screen is amazing.
Much easier to type than on resesitive screen. you just need to get used to it.
have you guys (found) any videos of typing on the hd2? Wonder what it looks like and if you can become as fluent as with a hw-keyboard?
I have same problem here. I was using Touch HD before and now I can't type anything without making mistakes. T9 helps out but when it comes to password it's getting painfull. When I'm pressing letter on on-screen keyboard I quite often press other keys around. I guess it will take quite some time to get used to it, I don't think sensitivity can be changed.
P.S.
Guys from pocketnow claims that HD2 has about the same sensitivity as Pro2 and definitely less then iPhone. If it so I can't imagine how people are able to use iPhone
we have all been used to resistive till now. you'll adapt dont worry, its a change that we all now have to go through.
i have the ipod touch so i dont think it will be troublesome for me to addapt to the new screen.
after a week with this phone, i love that screen... it is very hard to adapt first few days, but than, everything is so great... it is much better like resistive screen... typing is super fast, sliding is easy...
yes i am also having problems with the high sensitivity, but i'm coming from solid keys so no real surprises! starting to get used to it now. I reckon OP you'll get used to it to. Give it a week or so!
You'll get used to it and never look back, I have an i8910 at the moment (HD2 arriving in a couple of days), which is also capacitive and it just takes a little while to adjust.
Fine here too, although the Opera "flick scroll" is too sensitive in a way - it always seems to scroll too far for me, at least a whole screen, so not as useful as the iPhone equivalent.
Anybody know if that is tweakable somehow?
There are a few practical steps I have found that have minimised the problem (for me) while we restive users come to terms with the capacitive screens we have yearned for:
Don't press too hard - it's easily done in frustration but it actually makes things worse
Align the screen - I don't think the factory calibration is too clever (this made a big difference for me)
Switch to a different keyboard. After labouring with the default keyboard and finding myself in a similar place to the OP, I reinstalled my trusty TouchPal and all is well again
Thse worked for me - hope they are of use to others

Same sensitivity as Pro2 ?, lol. They probably got a broken sample.
On the Pro2 I was easily able to put my finger on the screen without a click being registered. With the HD2 we got confirmations this is impossible, as soon as your skin touches the device, no matter how lightly you brought your finger to the screen, a click will be registered.
I used to have a Touch HD beforehand, and after getting the HD2 I noticed I would make a large amount of mistakes, and that typing was extremely hard (especially on the go).
But like others have said, give it a couple of days and you will start to get used to it. I'm definately getting the hang of it. But I would strongly recommend you enable T9. Getting the hang of typing on a capacitive screen comes naturally.
And try out the horizontal keyboard; turn the HD2 sideways and the horizontal keybord will be shown to you. You may find it a bit easier to type on that instead.
This is the best screen i have in any windows mobile, the reason i had an iphone was the capasitive screen it has but now because of this screen i switched to the HD2 and i am more than happy and i don't understand why people complain about this screen its simply FANTASTIC.
I think I can uderstand them, it is beacuse we are used to looking exactly where we are going to click, now, with the capacitive screen, we have to use our finger to do it (wich obviously wont let us see waht we are clicking on). I was a little bit stressed yesterday that I received the phone, but right now I am getting used to it. I am doing now a slide soft motion with the screen, and not the old press hard movement I used to with my HD.
I think it is great, let give it at least a few days so we can get confortable with it.
Lo,
not sure if it's just me and coming from my Hero, but I do have issues at times with the screen getting to recognise my finger presses. This can be in games to apps; I generally find that a firm press works but surely this should be needed.
Can anyone else confirm whether they have the same or whether mines gone a bit dodgy?

Yeah,,i'm the same when trying to select tabs on dolphin hd. It was a pain trying to play fruit ninja too.
Mine did seem super sensitive at first too and noticed like others that if you held your finger really close,b ut not touching, the screen still recognised the touch.
I hope then this isnt something that worsens overtime - I'll wait and see.
Thanks
I'm curious about this now because at first I also noticed it would respond if my finger was very close but still above the screen. I don't know if I've gotten used to that now or if it's actually changed. There has been two software updates so it's possible they tweaked a setting. Despite not noticing the hovering touch any more the screen is still far more responsive than my Milestone.
With the last 2 updates, they did change the screen sensitivity.
Could one of you undo the updates or hard reset, and see if it is sensitive again? That way, we know it's just software and tweakable.
I can't because I do not have my phone yet. Lol... (actually that isn't funny)..
My phone has had all the updates done and I find my screen sensitivity to sensitive. But then again I have come from a Touch Pro 2 where it wasn't the best anyway.
No problems here. Search for multitouch test on the market for some objective testing. (You can also see with this app that HTC solved the weird multitouch problem that previous devices had.)
From my testing, it seems to react better to a greater surface area contact; the tip of my finger barely triggers it, but if I use the full end of my finger it seems fine.
Bit odd and annoying
Mine's *too* sensitive.

I would call the HTC helpdesk and ask for a pick-up repairment or go back to the store and swap it for another one.
Recently I found that the Legend sometimes behaves a little strange... sometimes I need to to push the display quite hard, not only to touch it slightly. And I found that this happens when the phone is left on a table and I am touching only the display( not the aluminium body). If the phone is held in hand or placed in the charger has no problems ... Here is a video:
(I still can`t post any links so please search youtube for exactly "HTC Legend touch problem" video posted from ggrozdanov5 to see it)
Is your Legend behave like mine do?
First of all stop pressing you display hard, that wont help anything. The legend touch interface works based on electrical current differences between your body and the screen.
It is most likely a grounding issue and is not an uncommon problem among touch screen phones. Try touching part of the metal body at the same time you touch the screen.

instead of pressing hard try to make just more contact to the screen
for ex. lay your hand palm on the screen (softly)
you screen is made from glass and will brake if you press to hard !
Guys, I appreciate the advices, but please don`t pay that much attention to the word "hard". If you had watched the video you would see what I`m talking about. I know exactly how to make my phone work correctly - just to hold it in hand, or touch it with a finger anywhere on the aluminium body. I wonder is this a problem for every HTC Legend, is it a problem just for a few devices, is this normal behaviour for an HTC Legend... and so on...
I don't get such behaviour

Not entirely true...As most devices have PCT (Projective Capacitive Touchscreen), this issue would not happen on them.
But I think the legend designers wanted to make legend cheaper, so they gave legend the SCT (Surface CT). Given that Legend body is anodized aluminum which held in palm has a low impedance, it is sufficient...but in cases like this it might not work so good...
I have this issue in bed when the phone is on the sheet or so, but most materials transtalte capacity changes pretty well, so it's not so annoying...
Hello,
When I scroll down/left/right in my phone and hold my finger on display, the screen automatically shakes left and right or up and down (depending on how I was scrolling my device). This also occurs while charging and while moving an icon on home-screen. I had this issue previously with Asus Zenfone 3, Samsung Galaxy J7 and a HTC Desire (dont remember the exact model though) and a similar issue with iphone 6 (which was registering that my finger was moving on home button). Is this a software problem or hardware problem and how can I fix this ? I have read on web that many people are facing this issue on various phones. but couldnt find any solution yet. Is this my screen sensitivity/touch/display driver/ battery or something else ? If anyone could suggest something, would be really helpful.
Edit: Exactly the same issue as this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxysauxJ5Yk&feature=youtu.be but mine shakes a bit less, still annoys me while playing 8 ball pool and other aiming games like angry birds, etc.
Thanks
There is an app which you can use to test your touch screen by drawing on it. You'll be able to see exactly what it's registering. From what I've seen it happens on a lot of phones with bad digitizers. Try to get a warranty replacement.

Hello,
Sorry for delay. I went to service centre and they said that it is normal because of smooth and silky touch and slight movement of fingers. I explained him that it occurs more while charging and he had to take my phone for inspection.
Here is the correct video : https://youtu.be/PmQ2lra4RXU
My hand didnt have tremors. I agree that human hands are not 100 % stable, however, none of my other phones do it. And if my hand is shaking, then it should shake also while the phone is not charging. When I unplug my device, it stops shaking (almost stops), but when I replug it, it starts to behave weird again when I am holding finger stable. Also, this shaking will move your aim pointer in gaming and it really is annoying while play games with pointer moving.
Is it really normal that your pointer moves while your finger is stable on screen ?
