Hello
I was using Revolver ICS beta. Wanted get back to the stock rom since it is avalible already. Installed Strock 3.2 first - my build is now WW_eepad-8.6.5.13-20110925
Device won't update to ICS - keeps saying that there is no update avalible despite the ICS is already hosted on asus.com
What should I do?

Just wait. It will show up eventually. In the mean time, don't worry about. Many users are reporting problems with ICS, while many others report it works fine. Maybe by the time you see the update, more fixes will be in place in the firmware.
The problem is only a small % provide details as to their TF-101 version and how they installed, so most of the threads commenting on non-functionality are more rants than threads that can help draw an assessment as to why some ICS updates work and some do not.
The ICS update has thus far worked for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23625633&postcount=124 on my B70 TF101 with the IML74K.us_epad-9.2.1.17-20120312 update (pushed as a firmware update , where my TF-101 was purchased in the USA, but it is being used in Germany).
Download the official ICS from the asus website and put it on your sdcard then reboot you sould get a notification that it has been downloaded tap that and hit install and it should work
Downloaded ICS from asus website, put it on MICRO SD, restarted - no prompt. So I unpackerd the rar from the website and repeat - no prompt aswell
Most likely bc you have a custom recovery since you flashed Revolver. Go the Epic Noob Guide by Luna_666 and there is a link to the Unlockr where your can get the stock recovery.
Edit::I found it and linked them both for you.
Woodrube you were right - thanks

I hope these aren't the only fixes in this release... Btw someone check if this ROM has Huawei's cloud service enabled along with all other possible fixes (wifi, touchscreen feedback, dalvik cache...)

from facebook/huaweidevice:
"Hi Goh, the trial 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade for the X5 is currently available for download. However, please be informed that with the trial version, you may encounter disconnections with certain WiFi access points. Our R&D team is currently working on this matter to ensure stability on its WiFi access. We aim to release the official upgrade by 31st December. Thank you for your patience."
I've been trying to download this for days (it was up in early December but has since been updated) but all I get is server unavailable. Can anyone upload the file for me?

GB 2.3 Final release
Huawei just anounced that the ROM launched at 28.12.2011 is the Official One, they called it Enhanced Version...(of what???).
If this is the last effort by Huawei to do an Official ROM to U8800, it is a very very BAD effort!!! Shame on you Huawei, i expected better!
I HOPE that the final release it's still to come...(it's christmas!!!)
Bye!
Is is worth to upgrade? I still have 2.2 version on my Huawei
I don't understand one thing why huawei doesn't use phone's online update ?
Never did, since version b133 till b522 there was no online updates, while checking through phone. Why do they think this menu is for ?
I have a bug:
After trying to download updates from the market, the download progress can't be removed from the notification area. Even after reboot, it gave me several errors but progress is still there.
To summarize: Won't recommend to anyone and consider myself huawei devices.
BETA v3
Hi all! After update to 2.3 GB of BETA ver3 (because I do not believe that this is the final product) has no problem with the SD card, with the freeze and reboot. Still not working haptic feedback and 4 functional keys backlighting. Display still very sensitive. In settings - info about the phone - online update - Update the firmware: there are 2 updates for M886 !!!!!! I tried, after reboot start installation new FW and end with an error . After restart everything is OK, the phone works .... uffff! M886 is different hardware, but I had to try
After root no USB CD function, long time to access massstorage internal-external SD.
I updating from stock 2.2 B138 ROM with IMEI back with ToolBox 5Irom, after update to Beta v3 IMEI again zero !!!!!
They call the 12-28 released version a normal one. But the actual meaning should be a uniform version.
All the initial integrated apps are same in the oversea vertion and in the verion released in China, like Facebook,Twitter, even though these two service are not available in China.
And this version also support many language for the uniform using.

Hi!
I bought a Spanish XOOM about 8 months ago and I'm still stuck with Android 3.2. Motorola is supposed to be releasing ICS for European Wifi Xooms before 2012 Q2 (which already ended, now they say that before July ends, which is tomorrow) while in USA are already working with 4.1.1 JB.
So I have the doubt of what's the best way to proceed:
a.- Wait for the 4.0.3 (or 4.0.4) official release, and wait another 6-12 months for Jellybean. The advantage is not loosing the warranty and the disadvantage is having to wait until Motorola releases ICS. I'm really tired of waiting to motorola (possible latest product I buy from them due to this).
b.- GEDify my xoom (flash the US-Wifi image, updating up to 4.1.1). The problem is that I loose the warranty and that the US ROM does not include es_ES (Spanish from Spain, not from US/MX) language and keyboard support.
c.- Put Wingray / EOS Team nightly ROM. Yes, I loose the warranty also but seems to work nicely (I have a rooted + CWM + cyanogenmod9 galaxy2 phone and I'm quite happy with it).
What do you think it's the best option?
I was about to go with c). and wanted to make some questions in the XOOM/EOS TEAM thread but as I'm a new user, the website does not allow to post there and asks me to put this question in this General forum... so:
ABOUT THE ROM ITSELF:
- Will EOS TEAM ROM allow me to select es_ES (Spanish/Spain) as the system language?
- Will EOS TEAM ROM allow me to select es_ES (Spanish/Spain) as the keyboard layout?
- Will the SPANISH Play Store (market) work?
- Do you recommend using the latest nightly (v127) or the previous one (v126?).
- Will the SD card work as RW in EOS TEAM ROM instead of "RO" like in the official rom?
- Is EOS TEAM ROM rooted by default or I must follow another extra procedure?
- Is the XOOM compatible with CWM (I have it in my phone and I'd like to put it in the xoom to be able to do nandroid backups, recoveries, etc)?
Thanks.
If ICS is getting officially released in your country now, you may end up waiting for one more year to get jellybean ota... definitely you are missing the flavor of jellybean... which option to go to is your call, but I would go for eos ROM for sure. I had one Xoom that was damaged with ICS eos. Then I bought another, the next hour , I was on ICS eos, rooted. I don't care about warranty because I know what to do with Xoom and I know xda is here for free help...
To answer your questions,
Spanish language is supported..
The ROM is is per rooted already... you just need to unlock your boot loader and flash a recovery image, then the ROM ...
With eos ROM, sdcard external is rw ... and always go for the latest as team eos release updates every little while adding features you will never ever see on the stock, and solid as rock...
Anyway, that is what I will do if I were in your place, but it is your call at the end of the day...

Thanks a lot for answering. This answer and the other you gave me in the Q&A Forum have been very very helpful.
I'm really sure that I'm going to flash EOS ROM, I'm downloading the android sdk right now (via tethering from a mobile AP, very slow)...
If you don't mind, I'll ask my final doubts in the other thread, so that people can have a "full guide" there.
Thanks.
I was having some issues with my browser and email client and suspected it was due to not running a stock rom. Initially when ICS came out I was a little impatient, didn't wait for the OTA update and installed one of the "released" images.
Yesterday i spent most of the day trying different image. Initially I hoped to install an older version, like honey comb and the to OTA back to a stock ICS rom.
It seems that once your bootloader has been converted to ICS there is now way of going back to Honeycomb. I tried some things suggested on xda developer forum, but none produced the results.
I then installed what I believe is the current stock rom for an A500 giving me the following:
Android version: 4.0.3
Kernel version: 2.6.39.4+
Image version: Acer_AV041_A500_RV03RC01_WW_GEN1
Build number: Acer_AV041_A500_1.0.31.00_WW_GEN1
What I would like to confirm is that this is correct and that this version is the latest available from Acer.
I am not really interested in any of the custom images and don't need it rooted. So a stock standard Acer ROM should do me just fine.

Look in the dev section , the latest is 1.054.00_ww_gen1. It is in the sticky thread.
This thread describes in detail what I did http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961301 but now my tablet is bricked. I am still hoping for some way of recovering it though.

This is what happens when you have multiple threads going. Nobody knows what the heck is going on.
Perhaps you think it increases your odds of getting your issue fixed, but now, it only compounds things.
If one of the issues is solved, then you need to edit your title thread to state so. This can be done by selecting Edit, Go Advanced.
MD
The reason I started two threads was to answer different question. In this thread I was looking for the latest official released version of ICS available. The other thread describes my journey of trying different ROMs. I was hoping to downgrade to 3.1/3.2 and then to OTA to ICS. Well that is covered in the other thread.
Thanks for all your help. I got my answer on the latest version.
Hi, if this question is already anwered, please lock this thread and redirect me, thanks..
I have a Aurora 4.0 rom, installed on top of stock B512 (as far as I can remember) .
Now, I wanted to try some Jelly Bean goodness, so I tried to update to ICS Official, but I've always failed at STEP2 of the official update procedure. I've read some forums and seen a few advices to firstly go back to the official Gingerbread. Ok, so I've downloaded the B512 (after about 2 hours of googlin and looking for it, if some1 wants it PM me) but the problem is still there - STEP2 of the firware update fails..
sd_update.log (4x this line)
Code:
dload_sd_chk_file_data->dload_sd_chk_ram_data failed!
Someone?thanks
Hello. I just got hold of an acer iconia a501 which is running 4.0.3 If it's cool I just have a couple of questions: 1. Should I just leave it as is or are there many benefits to modifying and upgrading the os? 2. If so, I can't quite figure out which process to do in the right order ie rooting, flashing a rom etc. If I could just get the information as to what steps I need to take, I'll be able to find the how to on this forum. I appreciate your help.

Hello, I used to be stock ICS. got ok battery life and performance. I flashed TegraOwners Lollipop rom and it was so much better. Yes its in its early stages but screen on time went from barely 3 hours to 5 1/2-6. With no under clocking. Pretty amazing.

noob needs opinion 3.2.1, on upgrading acer a500
(Sorry for invading your thread, but I did not know where to start asking.)
Hi I feel like I am out of luck. If that is the case, please just treat the backstory as a bit of entertainment.
To upgrade the Acer A500 Iconia Tablet from Honeycomb 3.2.1(oem) to something more current, perhaps IceCreamSandwich 4.0, can I download a file to a microSD card, plug the card into
the tablet, and get the upgrade? I read somewhere about a file called update.zip. Is the process just this simple/easy?
BackStory:
This tablet is hard to love as it doesn't come with any sample media, or even any file-manager. Once in a while it crashes to the home screen. But another feature I really want is to take screenshots. That is why I want to root the A500.(Problem0 Recently, the lockscreen failed. (My password is made of letters, whereas the A500 would no longer display the virtual keyboard, only the virtual numeric keypad!). therefore I did a cleanWipe reset of the tablet. 'Android version 3.2.1; Build number Acer_A500_7.014.02_COM_GEN2'. Problem0 fixed.) Problem1: I am a newbie w poor computer skills. Problem2: I am a newbie w poor computer skills.
I register the tablet w Acer, and then install ICS A500 Update from Google Play Store. (ICONIA TAB Update Enhancement, Acer Inc. - March 18, 2012: Application_Acer_2.2. 120307.3_A32H_A.apk)
Next I go to settings... and click on Acer System Update "check now" button. But the only message popup is 'Network coverage is currently poor. Please move to a location with better coverage to continue.' Funny as the wifi indicator indicates the signal as very strong. I try signing into Acer.com support, but it says 'your email (id) is not recognized'.
Questions:
1. Should I upgrade to something newer than the built-in Android 3.2.1? and if so which version?
2. Should I root? (How do I root? Is a PC required to do this?)
(3. Do I first need to get Acer software/drivers for PC?)
(4. What is a good app to use to backup Acer A500 to PC?)
Thank you for your attention; a frustrated A500 user,
J.
