Cwm not recognizing micro sd card? - Acer Iconia A500

Hello. I have successfully rooted my acer a 500, i have used root checker to confirm this and also have app for superuser. I have successfully installed cwm via acer recovery app. I was able to backup the current rom, but am having issues flashing a new rom. Im dlashing from extenal sd card. But when i run cwm i notice that when i backup or attempt to flash cwm says "no sd-ext found" any thoughts?

Idk, maybe i was just tired. I was able to successfully flash flexreaper ics. I guess my only concern now is my backed up roms dont show up in rom manager, running v 5.0.0.6. Any idea why? (cwm is version 5.5.0.4, if it matters)

Rom Manager is a phone app. I'd advise not using it for the 500/501. Unless they changed something in the past month, you could really wonk up your tab.
Check your Ext SD card. You should have a folder called Clockwork, which contains your recovery backups. (unless you already formatted your SD card)
When you make a recovery (either CWM or RA), you should boot to the recovery, and do your recovery backup/nand backup from there. NOT through Rom Manager.

Jellybean rom and gapps can't be found on Xoom recovery

Hi everyone, I know this is on some thread around here already but I'm kinda new here so,
I tried to flash team EOS jb rom + gapps on my Xoom and they weren't found ..
A message appeared saying , error mounting SD card or backup/path not found or something.
My xoom is rooted with stock rom ics, 4.0.4 and at first I tried flashing using rom manager , and no success..the n manually ..the same.
I can't backup current rom neither flash a new one.. I read about reflashing cwm , and I kinda got lost in there..
I moved the .zip files into the internal memory of the Xoom and the same...I got into recovery mode manually and I followed the procedure and again...no .zip
Files found not even on the internal memory.. as I said I tried mounting SD card, mount system and nothing...same error appeared..
So , I really appreciate any advice or tip or whatever helpful... thanks in advanced and sorry for asking something that many already know..have a good day !!

Which recovery are you using ?
Can you still access external sd from recovery?
Sent from my MZ601 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah, sounds like you're not using CWM recovery.
Follow the steps to install this, and flash via CWM.
I can't access SD card via recovery , it says error: backup path not found.. and error mounting SD card.
But I can access my external SD card using any file explorer , It appears normally .
Idk but , so when I rooted my Xoom I remember have flashed cwm via adb , cause I had to connect my Xoom to the PC and I remember a .zip file called something cwm , and tiamat ....so , should I go again and reflash cwm zip , and if so , which one should I flash again? cause my Xoom is already rooted and unlocked, wouldn't that damage the system?

You won't loose root. You are using the same fast boot commands to unlock your boot loader and install this recovery IMG...
Then this new recovery, flash eos ROM which is per rooted already...

CWM Back ups won't delete??

Rooted my N7 with WugFresh's Toolkit, and I've made four CWM back ups since rooting and what with the data files from games like NOVA 3, ME, Max Payne and alike I'm running out of storage. In fact I have a notification, "Storage space running out".
So I've decided to delete some files, and I decided I don't need the four CWM Back ups but I can't delete them??
I've tried using my usual file explorer, Solid Explorer but with no luck there I tried with Root Explorer but still cannot delete the CWM Back ups with that either, WTF?
Never any problems like this with either my last two Android devices (both rooted), any body had similar issues?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Flash http://core.routed.com/CWM_Backup_Wipe.zip in cwm recovery and it will wipe everything. There's been some known problems with deleting backups.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Thanks for the reply, does that zip just delete what's in the CWM Back up folder?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
You have to delete the backups within CWM itself. reboot into CWM recovery and delete backups from there, it's a bug.
Thanks for the reply but where is the option in CWM recovery to delete back ups?
Did you mean CWM recovery or did you mean ROM Manager because I installed CWM through WugFresh's Toolkit and if I select the option in ROM Manager I'm told I must install CWM through ROM Manager??
TIA

First off I am using the latest version of CWM touch from rom manager. Once in CWM recovery "not rom manager, you still cant delete backups with it." select backup/restore and in that section below the backup and restore options will be delete.
From my understanding if you are using the older version of CWM installed via wugfresh nexus toolbox and use rom manager to upgrade your version of CWM you will no longer be able to delete the backups via CWM, you have to use the version of CWM you made the backups with or it will not work! Once you've cleared them you can upgrade CWM via rom manager or flashing it yourself which I recommend.
Thanks again for replying, appreciate it!
So I have no way to delete them then because the version of CWM installed by Nexus Toolkit does not have the delete option and if I install a newer version of CWM via ROM Manager I still won't be able to delete my back ups??
WTF should I do then?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Flash the zip I posted earlier. I'm personally saying with the 5.x.x.x version of cwm because it makes a single file with everything I need - but that's just me.

Have you given this a try? I haven't used it so I don't know if it will work for deleting the blobs folder as well or not.
What I did personally was just flash the tablet back to the stock image, it took me 10 minutes and I had a fresh start. I made sure "do not install CWM" was selected in the toolkit and flashed back to stock then rerooted. After the usual update binaries blah blah I installed CWM through rom manager and upgraded to the latest CWM touch, rebooted and installed Paranoid android and Trinity kernel lol.
Cliffnotes: I reflashed the stock image and started over properly.

This guy has a point. Using the older version means no blobs folder and that can take up a whole lot more space than the older method. I use the newer version because I like the faster restore.

You'll have to press the button that says "click here to enter recovery"
If it's not there, you flashed the wrong safestrap. Most ROMs are going to CWM/TWRP tho, so it may not be a bad idea to unlock and install one of those

I also have SS 3.12 out of habit I guess. I know there are other choices now like TWRP 2xx or 3xx. I'm still a little confused tho maybe you can clarify for me:
When Hashcode developed SS, didn't he base it of off TWRP? So why would (should) I switch if its technically the same program?
The only reason I was reluctant to move over to the newer TWRP recover WA because I have a few safe strap recoveries that I'm afraid would work with TWRP. Do you know if they are compatible? If they are then I'll switch.
And you did mention CWM, but I was under the impression that CWM was dated and considered an older (inferior) recovery option compared to SS our TWRP? Is there a new CWM now with a similar interface to TWRP?
the only issue I have with SS is when I try to create a new ROM slot it only uses the internal storage (which if very limited on my phone) but I have tons if free space on my ext SD card. If the new TWRP or CWM have an option to utilize the external space for the creation of ROM slots that would be great!
Thanks

OK so SS is not actually a recovery. It's a hack to get something like a recovery (and a very good hack at that) but it's not actually recovery. With twrp or cwm, if you happen to flash /system, you can still access recovery.
Twrp has more features than cwm, but cwm isn't outdated. Either works fine, I prefer cwm tbh.

You need to explain better what you want. I thought you just wanted to update your internal CWM 5504 to 6047 so you could flash CM11 without using an SD. What has cyanoboot menu got to do with that?

Then just do what I said in my first post in this thread. Find a copy of the 6047 zip made for internal memory, copy that zip to emmc sdcard, boot to 5504 recovery and choose install zip from internal memory, and install that zip. Then reboot to recovery again and it will now be changed to 6047. You can use that version to flash the CM11 zip the same way you did the recovery zip. All without using the SD. And the cyanoboot has nothing to do with which version of CWM you have.

Hello LeapinLAr:
I also have a similar question.
Currently I have CWM Recovery V3.2.0.1 i EMMC01 and CM 10.1.2
I would like to upgrade to CWM version to 6.0.1.1 .
I tried to copy this zi file to SD card, run emmc recovery and tried to update from SD card. It did not and aborted the update. My impression was that it could not update from version to 3.2 to 6.01. Am I right in my assumption?
Could you please explain the steps , so that I can successfuly carry it out? I have got more confidence in tweaking these things ever since
I did a successful rooting of NOOK Color.
I have other question on setting the clock speed etc to run at optimum speed ( I read yesterday from the forum that it runs better if clock speed is at the minimum, but does not explain how to do that0.
Thanks for you great posts and help.
