I bought what i think to be a soft bricked unlocked atrix, I by watching U Tube instructional videos managed to do a system recovery back to factory default, bypass motoblur, and root, now it works great, I was under the impression unlocked meant I could use ANY SIM card...Net 10 doesnt work, I searched the internet and cant find any instructions on how to tweek it to make it work...Does anyone know How to make it work...??.
I have found instructions only for straight Talk...which is still like a monthly plan... dont want that...
Thanks:

You need to find out if you're phone is sim unlocked. When we talk unlocked here, were talking about bootloader unlocked which allows us to install custom roms. It has nothing to do using different sims.
Google sim unlock. There are some pay sites out there that do it I think for a fee. Other options would be to call the carrier the phone was originally on or to call your carrier to see if they can help.
It sounds like you unlocked the bootloader, while that is something that is needed for modding an ATRIX. It is not the right "unlock" needed to utilize another carriers sim.. if its an att branded ATRIX then u can jump on att's support site and chat with a techie to acquire an unlock code and they should be able to walk you through the process.. im sorry i cant link any threads right now im at work on my phone

Hello all. I got a TMobile Wing from US (I'm from South America), but it's SIM Unlocked.
Anyone knows where can I get a "unlock code key generator" where I can input my IMEI and it gives me my SIM Unlock Code!???
I'm not willing to pay U$ 35!!!!!!!!!, because the phone already cost me a fortune here.
After reading the WIKI, I saw that at this point there's no way (except paying to some obscure website) to unlock the wing.
My points are:
1) How hard can It be to unlock it, because:
1) the website can do that, and I'm pretty sure they're not using the official way.
2) I only need SIM unlock. When I use my SIM card, it asks for an unlock code. I'm assuming that the unlock code is a function of my IMEI number.
If there are code generators for other HTC models, how different the algorithm can be? And, of course, the guys from that website most probably have broke it.
3) I used to crack 68k code long time ago on my Commodore Amiga. Is there any emulator or something? A debugger like softice? Who's working on the unlock code generator? Can I help?
I've been going thru the herald forums for months now, and I have yet to hear of anyone being able to bypass SIM lock on the herald ...
I'm sure if you could figure out how to unlock, it would be much appreciated by the whole community.
i second that.... hope you find a way man... because ive been itching to get my wing working... 35 dollars for a code? that would be too much... some say they can get it from t-mobile for free, you just have to contact them... the problem with our situation (yes i bought mine from ebay also), we do not have a contract with them. i tried it already and they were not willing to help unless i am the subscriber myself asking for the unlocking. i tried contacting the person i bought my phone from but i got no answer.

I was Olipro's tester for his hard-spl, and after it was done, my O2 terra was sim unlocked.
I have no idea how it happened, though
Is there anybody that would be able to call T-Mobile to get me the Unlock Code for my Samsung Vibrant, if I give them my IMEI.
I had my phone unlocked and for some reason it randomly locked up again.
I would call T-mobile myself, but I am not with them and I live in Canada.
If anyone could help me that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!
T-Mobile gives former eligible customers free unlock codes.

Unfotunately I don't think it will work. The phone has to have been registered on the users account, meaning the user must have put their sim in the phone before, or there has to be proof that exact phone with the IMEI was purchased from T-Mobile by the account holder.
But luckily for you, if you were a T-mobile customer in the past, and you did in fact use that Vibrant on their network, they will provide you the unlock code again.
For your reference
http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm51885.xml
"T-Mobile will provide the SIM Unlock Code upon request to eligible former customers, provided that T-Mobile has such code or can obtain it from the manufacturer. "
Who knows though, might work, if you are willing to find someone to try it for you.
Yeah i am pretty sure the person who had the phone before wad with t mobile, so it should be fine. I just need someone who is with t mobile to call in for me since i am not with tmobile.
There was an app in the app store that'll give you the unlock code. That's how I unlocked mine. Check the market as it was a free app.

You don't need to even bother with that. Use this thread to fix the unlock. This will make it more permanent. Hopefully. It worked for me on two different devices. Cheers!
Thanks for the responses..
Yeah I unlocked my phone myself a month ago and for some reason It became locked again randomly. Dont know why... I just dont want to go through all that work again, and have it happen again... If I get the Sim Unlock code then it wont be a problem, and I can just put in the # again. When I originally tried to get the number through the SGS Unlocker it just gave me 8 zeros, so that method dident work.
The computer that I am using does not have all the drivers and crap and it is not my computer so I do not want to load everything on it.
If anyone with T-Mobile dosent mind calling for me that would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is you can't use the sim unlock code once you have gone through this process that they would send you. If you went through that process, then the code is whatever you set. If you don't remember what that number is, then you will have to do it all over again.
It is not that i do.not remember. I put in eight zeros in. But some everything was reset and it is locked again. I tried the eight zeros and it sosent work. I think i used a different nethod. I did not use the batch files. I used adb and edited the nv data. I am pretty sure if i were to get the sim unlock from t.mobile it will work. I dident choose 0000000 as a sim code it just told me to enter that in the instructions.

The problem is that number replaced the old msl. So you have no choice.
What do you mean Msl?
Msl = master subsidy lock aka unlock code
I have an Atrix running stock 2.3.4 on AT&T in the US. In the coming months, I'll be traveling to europe for a few weeks. I'd love to be able to take my phone and just buy a temp SIM while I'm over there.
I know the process of removing the AT&T-only restriction is called unlocking - is that the same as unlocking the baseband? If not - where can I find a guide to unlock it for international use?
Also - will the Atrix even work (I'm guess does it even have the right cellular bands for Europe?) Thanks in advance!
I used my Atrix recently in Asia and the middle east. Worked like a charm with local sims. I paid like $15 to blowfish unlocks on ebay and followed the instruction to unlock. When you put the new SIM in it will ask for the motoblur login so make sure you know it. I thought it would need to activate over wifi or something with motoblur but just entering my already registered account was good enough. Hope this helps.
Gotcha. So the "unlocks" are two different things. I'll check out ebay if that seems to be the easiest way to get the code? Thanks!
Try here

Yes, essentially you have to unlock your baseband which can be done through an unlock code. The unlock which we have for Atrix out here is bootloader unlock, not baseband unlock!
hi,
couldn't find a solution anywhere, so i'm trying here, apologies if i misplaced my post.
i bought a s4 SM-S975L from wallmart (straightalk) in the US, but got relocated by my employer to israel.
now im stationed in israel/malta (rotating).
the s4 SM-S975L is locked apparently for any sim. tried to contact the company - they blew me off.
now im stuck with a phone which i cant use.
does anyone know how to "sim unlock" this one?
please?
thank you
You might want to remove your email unless you want to get harvested by a spambot.
Straight Talk Unlocking Policy
It's no surprise that Straight Talk blew you off. Your situation doesn't meet their terms and conditions in that you haven't had the phone active for one year. As to unlocking your phone, you can use either of the two methods that have already been discussed on these forums. Either going through the service menu to unlock, or using RegionLock Away and praying it works. Otherwise, you're out of luck and should send the phone to someone you know in the US so they can return it to WalMart.
thanks, but
thanks, but the mentioned dont fit.
they are not suitable for the model i have.
any other ideas? anyone?
If the methods mentioned didn't work, you'll have to purchase an unlock code from a third party. You could always put the phone on eBay and sell it, if you're not able to return it and don't want to spend any further money.
Be aware that even if you do get the phone unlocked LTE will not work in Israel as the phone doesn't have the correct bands. 3G and HSPA+ should still function.
thanks, can
thank you.
can you perhpas guide me to where i can get such a code?
3G and HSPA+ should still function - thats ok
http://www.sammobile.com/unlock/
Sam mobile doesn't support this model in the unlocking site, :/
Search the Internet as there are other places besides them. If no one can unlock it, then you have to use Straight Talk for a year and get the unlock code that way.
I recently purchased this phone (about 3 days ago) and i have rooted and put Gwiz v1 boot loader onto it. It runs very well, but the t mobile service in my area is abysmal. The t mobile device unlock doesn't work, and neither t mobile or Walmart will unlock it until it's been on their plan for 90+ days without issues.
I want to switch to AT&T towers on straight talk, but that sim isn't able to be used until I unlock it. If i were to purchase an unlock code, where would I enter it? I've got developer mode on, if that makes any difference.
Friendly bump.
I haven't unlocked a phone in a LONG time (I just buy them unlocked now), so there's a good chance the process has since changed, but I remember buying the unlock code and then entering it into the dialer app/calling it. There was then a carrier-specific recorded voice message announcing that the phone's been unlocked.

I don't want to pay for an unlock code I wouldn't be able to use. The guy selling them says that the phone should be asking for an unlock code.

I completely understand... I'd be thinking the same if I were in your shoes. I did some looking around and it seems like the unlock process is no longer done via dialing a number, but rather via apps - some carriers make available an app where you simply enter an unlock code and the rest of the work is automatic, so please check and see if this applies to you.
If not, the process is going to be somewhat more difficult. You'll probably have to flash some O/CFW, root the phone, then install and use an unofficial unlocking app. My dad had to go this route for his Sprint S6 (he's now using T-Mobile). If you're using this detour, try and find, then follow, a tutorial on flashing firmware and rooting your device. I'll post some links if you can't find anything. After doing that, look around for an unofficial carrier unlocker. There's probably several here on XDA, but do note that most of them will lighten your wallet by $20-30 or so. Once you pay the developer, they'll either email you a code or whitelist your IMEI for their app, and send you the apk.
Best of luck, and have a great day.

My phone is rooted and has Gwiz v1 custom bootloader. I haven't seen anything about unofficial unlocking apps, but I tried the official T-mobile unlock app and it didn't work on original or flashed firmware. I tried calling T-mobile, who told me to call Walmart Family Mobile, called them, they told me to call Straight Talk, who told me to go back to Walmart. Straight Talk can't unlock the phone, and neither T-Mobile or Walmart will unlock it until I've been a customer for 3+months.
