Hello i have a GEN 2 Sold with 2.2 BUT IT IS 2.3.5 now

or to install a rooted custom rom, use one of amphoras' tpts, you could try his tpt helper app from the market, you want a gen2 image.bin tpt & a rom to install. you're actually on gen3 now if you installed stock 2.3.5, so you need to get back to gen2 to install most custom roms, you do that with a tpt, it'll wipe your phone, get you back to gen2 & install clockworkmod.
So i need to do a GEN 3 to GEN 2?
And is mine GEN 2 STOCK?

Solved problem. did make a GEN 3 tpt. and it was pre installed with CWM. without any ROM.
SO i installed cyanogenmod. but it had no signal. re flashed again no signal so i did flash 2.3.5.bin and now i got the stock rom.

I just got an Fire HD 8 on black Friday and am wondering if there is any custom rom for it? I do not want to use Fire OS and want to see if I can root and install a custom ROM. I notice on another forum that there is a custom ROM for Fire tablets, but I am not sure if that will work for the HD 8. Hopefully there is something that can be done for this tablet.
Hope something can be done. Please let me know if this is possible.

If you want to install a custom ROM install it before rooting your phone, because when you flash the ROM you'll lose the root permissions.
And for a custom ROM check the thread of custom ROMs (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7-2017/development), you'll find there a lot to choose and, probably, they'll come with root permissions integrated. But make sure your model number (SM-J7[...]) matches with the ROM you choose.

I recently resurrected my old Kindle Fire HD 8 (6th Gen) running Fire OS 5.3.6.4. I really have no idea what to do with this thing. The stock OS is slow as snot and doesn't have much functionality. Would love to get a custom rom running (if that's available) or at a minimum a custom launcher. Any suggestions / tips on what's possible?

if no gaming needed android 7 is also quite stable.
What you want exactly? Do you want fast ROM ? so install RR marshmallow then gapps and then noob kernel. So if you do this, you'll get the fastest ROM and also battery life will increase !!
I m having cable connectivity issue for data transfer and debugging, during my last root it doesnt work fully, now i m stuck with out root nor access to adb via pc(wireless works but cannot root).
I tried kingo root type apps but didnot work.
