The UART output is OK, SO i can work on kernel 3.x for kindle fire,
If i boot a bad kernel , i have to take a longpress to power button to reset the machine.
Does kindle file have a hare reset pin?
Thanks !

I followed the burritoroot3 guide and I've got a minor annoyance.
When I reboot the device it always comes up with the yellow triangle and "press power button for recovery."
When I hit the power button it goes to the "kindle fire" normal bootup and proceeds to boot normally.
I am rooted, the kindle appears to work fine except for this minor annoyance.
What have I done wrong? What should my next step be to flash a CM7 build?
*edit*
Ah, OK, so the yellow triangle IS the firefirefire bootloader. WHy doesn't pushing the "power" button access the bootloader then?
*/edit*
Hold the power button until it turns from green to orange when the fire fire fire boot loader first appears.

Doesn't appear to work?
Here's what I did:
I turned my Kindle off.
Pressed "power" button once.
Boot loader appears, I again press power and hold until the light turns orange, then release
The screen goes black for a moment, yellow triangle appears, then "kindle fire" appears, then yellow triangle, then "kindle fire" and normal bootup.
Sorry, I just saw the second part of your question. I assume you have twrp installed since you used burritoroot3. Put the from zip file you downloaded into the sdcard directory of your kindle fire. Use the backup function in twrp to create a backup of your kindle fire in case the install goes wrong. After doing this go to the wipe menu in twrp do a factory reset and then go back to the main menu of twrp and hit install. Find the zip file with the the from in it you placed in the sdcard directory, select it and hit the flash button. Sorry this explanation isn't very good I'm typing on my kindle fire and this keyboard is weird.

Wow I'm stupid i forgot buritto root doesn't install twrp, go find the kindle fire utility on this forum and in my experience use an older build like the 0.9.1 and use it to install twrp

Allrighty, thanks to the helpful IRC folks I've got it all sorted out.
I didn't actually have a custom recovery installed.
I'm good to go now, at least as far as rooting goes...
So this morning I rooted my spare kindle fire with BurritoRoot3 and then flashed FireFireFire with it, then like a retard I used Kindle Fire utility to install TWRP. After that I tried to boot into recovery but it refuses to. All it does is sit at the yellow triangle and refuses to actually go into recovery... I can leave it alone and it will boot into the OS but I'm trying to install ICS or CM7. Any tips on how to wipe or repair TWRP/Firefirefire? Re installing TWRP doesn't work as KFU can't do anything due to it sitting at yellow triangle.
Do you hold down the power button until it turns orange? Make sure that you do... hope this helps.
If i do that it makes the power button turn red and then screen flashes and it goes to the same screen but the screen brightness seems to be turned down. After that it just powers off. I have a second kindle fire that works flawlessly and I got ICS running on it.. this one... not so much
would try to start the twrp installation - when it says <waiting for device> power off the kf by holding pwr ~20sec - power on again - the installation should resume and finish
if not check device manager for the correct drivers - maybe this helps:

My kindle fire hd 7 stucked in "boot loop", so I bought a Factory Cable.
When I connected the factory cable the Kindle start in fastboot and I used KFHD Restore Tool, but the kindle bricked, and now not do nothing.
I press power and nothing, not showing logo, not showing battery when I connected the charger...
Any idea?

If you restart your PC and try the fastest cord again, does it work? Make sure to hold the power button down for 30 seconds first to ensure the tablet is off before trying the fastboot cord.

I try it... Nothing, not turn on.
Hi,
Any idea on how I can fix my kindle fire 8 HD 7th Gen.
I have tried the basic operation of reset and even trying to reset by holding the volume down and power button. No luck.
I have used TWRP and recovered a few tablets before so i'm familiar with the process. However my friend gave me this Fire HD 10 tablet and the amazon splash screen just cycles through a 10 second reboot loop. Holding down Volume UP and the Power button does nothing, i am unable to access TWRP or even the original recovery tool. I then held the Volume button DOWN with the power button and the adb recovery does not appear. The device just keep rebooting no matter the combo of buttons i hold down.
Anyway to recover this device?
You need to open the device, and short the pins to get into preloader. Use the TWRP Thread and download gptfix and run it, after that short again and do bootrom-step.sh then continue the process to reinstall TWRP from there.
Hope this helps! From my own experience. This happened to me when messing with the partition table!
I appreciate your reply, however is there an instruction guide to show how to do this? i have a heat gun but not the best or most patient when it comes to opening these devices, my track record is sub par at best =)
