A glimmer of hope? - G2 and Desire Z General

So i sent a email to HTC about DZ and ICS. And added a few lines about how they should think about a new qwerty-phone. And today i got this email:
Hello, thank you for contacting HTC last week.
I just want to give you a brief update. The proposal has been reviewed and has now been forwarded to the HTC department for research and development (R & D) in Taiwan. They will look at the possibility of creating a new product with a qwerty keyboard in the future.
HTC is grateful for your suggestion.
Have a nice day!
What do you think? Will we see a new qwerty-phone in the near future? HTC One Z maybe?

That would be awesome. A worthy successor to the best Android QWERTY phone ever made.

Well, it's better than nothing! Thanks for sharing the reply.
Also, what's a gimmer?

Thanks a bunch mate!

I too share the thanks.
Additionally could someone please explain to me the need for the second poster to quote the entire first post. Is it not rather obvious that they will be replying to the OP? Sorry for the off topic, it just does my nut.

Cheers for sending them an e-mail, mate.
Let's hope something comes out of it.

I really hope there's a g3 or something like the one z, my contract is up this fall and would like nothing more than to replace my g2 with another amazing qwerty phone

To be honest, I wouldn't hold my breath, since all you got was a generic answer that doesn't really mean anything.

I not think so, but it's better than nothing. In the EU we not have the myslide 4g or the Droid 4. So the only choice is really the DZ.

I agree, wouldn't really count on that meaning something.
We'll get a successor eventually, when HTC deems the time right. They're always putting out keyboard phones, and wasn't the DZ at least a small success?

Not very comforting to me. This doesn't indicate any willingness to update OUR phone or take care of their existing customers. With this response, how do I have any comfort HTC will adequately update any future device I purchase from them. Secondly, this provides no incentive to stick with HTC if a better hardware keyboard became available elsewhere.
Very disappointing, specifically the inequitable treatment among two high end devices released at the same time.

Funny answer of HTC :D

I told HTC that Desire S and DHD has similar specs -as everybody knows- and nearly released at the same time in my country (Desire S released 3 months later). I bought a DHD. Desire S was cheaper. I know HTC announced that there will be no official Sense 3.0 update for DHD but I said If there will be no update for DHD, I'll sell it and buy a SGS2 and never turn back to HTC again.
ANSWER:

IF HTC DON'T HAVE EXACT INFORMATION, WHO HAS
Oh my god... I laughed so hard there was goat milk pouring out of my ears... Yeah, seriously, if they don't have the answer, just WHO DOES?! The fact that they, who should have the answer, actually don't have the answer, is indeed hilarious!
Except if they do have the information, but don't want to tell us?! No, no, I'm just talking nonsense, it can't be it... But if it was like that, I reckon it would be even more hilarious, my head would probably explode from all the hilarious-ness! Do inform us if you find out anything like that, please, because this was just pure comedy, right here, it really was awesome, quite hilarious...
As far as I know, sense 3.0 for HTC saga was a leaked. IMO, its pointless asking their support for answers. Since its not official out yet. Do correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes im sure it is a leaked rom so its a hidden project which results in no answers.

Even though I do get the joke, I have to ask you 'What did you expect?' Obviously solmeone who works in a call center doesn't know **** about unofficial projects and even if they do they can't tell you due to company's policy. Obviously they can't tell you sth like 'It's in beta phase now and we are testing it so keep your fingers crossed and hope we release it this month'

If this is real a policy for the company they ALL should stfu about the unofficial projects. HTC twitter account announced that "“due to Sense’s hardware requirements, only our newest devices (Flyer, EVO 3D, Sensation) will be able to support it.”. But now it seems that Sense 3.0 is coming for DHD and Desire S. So if they "unfortunately don't have exact information about sense#3.0 for DHD" they should shut up and should not mislead the users of other devices.

[Q] Subsequent phone for HD2

Hi,
I like my HD2. It´s a nice phone and the best are the many Devs. But now it´s time for me for a new phone with more power.
Is there some phone that is or will be as popular as the HD2 among the Devs?
Thx.
Benno
Sorry this doesn't really answer your question but I bought a new phone. The HTC Mytouch 4g slide. Dual-core, 8MP camera, its really a great phone BUT you know what? I've hardly used it. I can't seem to let go of this phone because its such a great phone. The development on the phone i bought is bad too.
For your best bet I would look at a phone your interested in and then go to that thread here on XDA. Look to see if there are any good developers working on it and how many threads/posts they have. The more the better i would think.
Wait bro are you getting rid of your HD2 then?!?!?!
I just got a HD2 which is fully broken, motherboard is melted D:
If you are willing to donate your HD2... lol.
Anyway, let me know my bday is April 7!

You really do troll these forums looking for free phones, don't you.
I thought you said your birthday was two weeks ago, like the thread in the off topic section that got deleted.
Quit asking for free stuff by telling everyone "it's your birthday", no one gives a crap when some random person on the internet is having a "birthday"

This makes sense, because all big updates had been around november / december for desire hd. Unfortunately. So rooting and flashing custom roms is only alternative...

By that time I wonder most DHD users have switched to new device having ICS preinstalled. Anyway DHD can get ICS update is a bonus of this 2 years old device. ICS is a little bit too slow to push out. Most software developers have still need more time to release software compatible to ICS.

Don't worry about that, the internet is a huge vortex of fake celebrity nude pictures, so at least one person is going to having suspicion about the authenticity of your screenshot. I don't think he meant any offence. Now, back on topic. I'm really looking forward to this update, hopefully it will include the new, 40% faster, adreno drives. The lack of developers have come as a shock to he DHD community over the last few days, due to everyone migrating to the HTC 1x. I will start developing for our humble device when this is released. It makes all of our lives easier, I wont have to worry about the camera bug and everything will be working smoothly. I think the wait is worth it guys and gals, just remember, patients is a virtue.

The thing is really interesting...and sad!
In example: i was a galaxy s (sold because i LOVE sense) user and the developers activity around a device older than desire hd was/is totally different: is like if the interest around that device will never die.
I know i'm a bit off topic, but i like to understand this.
Why, by you DHD users, we are left alone by developers?
There is an huge escape from desire hd due to which reason??

Too bad the HTC One didn't look nice like this phone.

Scroll down to the middle where there is this picture of this nice looking China phone HTC copied. Wow! It looks so much nicer than the One. Much less disjointed and more elegant rather than the ricer look HTC always goes for.

Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
Why would someone spend so much time and effort trying to put a phone in a bad light? Perhaps to convince himself that he is not jealous of the fact that the One outshines the phone he bought in each and every aspect. He can't be reasoned with, he just wants confirmation that his biased judgement, in his state of denial, is correct. But as he can't get that confirmation, he tries even harder to convince people that his delusional judgement is correct.

It isnt any leak he has he is just speculating.
There are absolutely no plans for an HTC One Google Edition (IOW an official HTC One with vanilla Android). This rumor started with the HTC developer advocate who used a poor choice of words.
What she meant is that there will be an update for the One with a much more minimal Sense experience that should appeal more to those who like a vanilla experience.

I saw that. I still have my doubts. HTC is a bit more closed than samsung and sony. I'm not saying its bad, i love the phone, but its the truth. Samsung is becoming more closed though. Sony is awesome with AOSP
And hey, if they do, then all the better
Alright, so basically the evidence behind this rumor is one guy while HTC itself full out denies it. This is pretty much full-on tinfoil, or, at best, boiled leather.

I think next version of Sense with 4.2.2 or 4.3? will be awesome and very close to AOSP/Stock Google ROMs. Coming from two Nexus devices I really enjoy Sense 5!
