[Q] Google play broken. - Droid 2 General

So I guess google updated marketplace to google play. However it's borken on my droid 2 (rooted). It just says "no connection" when I select it. I cleared cache/data etc. Installed the 3.4.6 google play apk manually. deleted it, re-installed it etc.
Tried logging into play.google.com hoping that it would install the newest version and I just get security warning after security warning (This certificate is not from a trusted authority).
Not sure where to go from here.

Maybe try re-syncing your google account.

Check Date
My Samsung Galaxy Player 5 was doing the same thing all of a sudden. I found the problem to be the date in the device had been set to Jan 1st of 2005. I don't know how but it did. I corrected this and everything worked fine. BTW I was also getting a lot of security messages about the certificate being from an untrusted source. This also went away as was to be expected with the date change.

[Q] Installation stops directly

Hello,
Last month after reading allot about it I finally installed Android NAND on my HTC HD2. After several ROM's I ended up with TyphooN CyanogenMod 7. Works (almost) like a charm. I can not get one thing working. Installation of some market apps.
For instance Google Maps or name another Angry Birds. When I search for them it says it is not yet installed so I go to install. It already shows the check-box "Allow automatic updating" (but the box can not be checked). Then I go to install and OK and it shows "Your item will be downloaded" and a download icon in the notification bar. But half a second later the icon is gone and the app is not installed. What to do?
I've tried searching several forums, but to no avail. Somewhere I've found the market app cache should be deleted, but this does not work. I've tried wiping and reinstalling the ROM, but it does not work. The only way I get it to work is to Google for the app and install outside the market. But than I don't get updates. I had the same problem with Facebook, but last week after the last time I wiped the phone, it installed correctly. Could it be the apps are not yet Android 2.3 compatible?

I am pretty sure both of them are 2.3 compatible, because I have them installed and they're working
But anyway, I had the same problem long time ago, it might be a Google Account problem. If you go to privacy policy (or however it is spelled in English, it's the icon with the fence) there is a checkbox where you should uncheck, because Google offers you to save your data on their servers. That never worked for me.
You could also try to uncheck every box of your Google account in the account settings..
Nice try
But does not work. Unchecked sync with server:
Tried to install maps/angry birds -> Fail
Cleared cache, Tried to install maps/angry birds -> Fail
Cleared cache, Reboot, Tried to install maps/angry birds -> Fail
So this looks like it's not the problem
Anybody?
Starting to be a hassle. Also some other games like "Pew pew" do not install from Android Market.

play store error message: 'RPC:S-7:AEC-0'

hi everyone. i have rooted using CF Root for my SM G900F
installed alliance rom fine using philz touch recovery( am now on PAC MAN ROM so i know this issue isnt ROM specific)
i am unable to install any apps via playstore or pushing to phone from online store. getting error message:
'RPC:S-7:AEC-0'
driving me crazy. have cleared data and cache from play store and google services, removed google account, rebooted, added account.
still same error message, any ideas. phone is pretty unusable without apps. gmail works, play books works, just not able to add apps.
have done all work arounds possible but no joy.
i have been able to restore apps from a titanium backup but paid versions dont register as paid and i cant update any apps
very frustrating
does anyone have any ideas before i log a support call with the google boffins?
The usual answer is to update your Google play store app. And failing that, wipe the cache, reboot and then recreate the Google account. You didn't say whether you have the latest play store app version.
Did you try resolving the issue exactly as follows?
RPC:AEC:0 error (CPU/RAM/Device/Identity failure)
First ensure that you are using the latest version of the Google Play Store app.
If the problem persists, then:
Go to settings > application > Play Store > clear data & clear cache
Go to accounts > Google > remove account
Reboot to recovery mode > wipe system cache
Reboot phone normally
Settings > account > Google > log in.
.

Same issue here as well can't update apps or download them either. Seems to me its a google play services error something to do with that. I'm still waiting for Google to get back to me. I have not had my account for four days now. I thought it would update its self but no joy.

yes, had a support call with google this morning. they escalated the support ticket and emailed me stupid fixes that i already told them dont work.
its a google server issue for sure
i have managed to install a titanium backup of most of my apps but the paid ones dont register as being paid and i cant update anything at the moment.
Account issue
It appears that this is an account issue. I am having the same problem on multiple devices with my Google Apps account, but my gmail account is working just fine on those devices.
Google is evidently aware of it, and its gotten a little press on Android Police. Whatever you do, don't listen to what people are saying and factory reset the device. IT doesn't help, and all it winds up doing is removing access to all of your paid / no paid apps.
A small discussion has sprung up on the Google Wallet forum here.
Definitely a play server issue. I have the same error code started about 2 days ago. It's on my s4, nexus 7 and tf201. If I log on with a different account then there is no problem. If you log in through windows to the play store then you will also not be able to see your purchased apps. I'll give them a call tomorrow if it hasn't resolved itself.
I am in the same boat. When cache clean, removing and adding account didn't help I tried factory reset. Didn't help. Rooted and went to CM. Still nothing. At that point reached Google and was told they will get back as it looks like a known issue. Not a single app on my phone right now as nothing is restored from play store. It's very annoying. Have this issue on my Nexus 4 and 7. Although I did all this on 4 only.

I just wanted to let everyone know what my fix ended up being after days of troubleshooting....
I went to my PC and went to google and looked up the Google play device manager, when on this site I chose my device and allowed it to find my device on Google maps after finding it I pressed the ring my device button and also the lock screen button and changed my password... When I did this I was then able to download stuff again....
I spoke with Google about this also and they said this error is caused when your device is not synchronized with the Google servers and what needs to be done is your device needs to be reconnected to the server, so other fixes are removing your account, uninstalling google play store updates and clearing cache, clearing cache for Google play store and restarting your device, then readding your account and attempting to download again.... Google will recommend you format your phone but I recommend not doing this cause you will lose all your apps and not be able to download them ... it did not fix my issue, I tried all of these and the first I mentioned worked for me after 5 days of issues...
Good luck all,
Moveit124
hi, i tried everything from above and did not work. After some more research it worked like this:
1 - . On your Android device , we go to Settings
2 - . Then Applications, and inside we go to the All tab
. 3 - Here locate and click on Google Services Framework
. 4 - Once inside we delete the cache, then We delete the data and force stop.
. 5 - repeat these operations also advise with Google services with Google Play and Play Store
. 6 - After reboot phone and attempt to download / update an application and see if everything went well .

Can't use Google Play Store, help me please

I just update to Android 5.0
When i enter Google Play it says i have to do an Obligatory Autentication ( I mean Autenticacion Obligatoria) and it doiesn't let me donwload anything, also when sync my Google Account it says it has some incidences, also i can't erase my Google account because i don't have permission. Also it says in a Notification that an App neds to be updated by Google Play services but i csn't because i can't enter Google Play.
It seems like they shouldn't release Lollipop at least for Nexis 4

If you already have a google account and its misbehaving, either do a factory reset and set up your phone again. Or try adding a second google account and then erase the original account. The Google playservices notification is a bit of a bug, try downloading the latest apk from apkmirror and install it.
Ok, but the think is that i can erase or add a Google account, when i try to erase it it says that Device Manager is active, i try to deactivate it but nothing, also i downloaded the apk but when i try to open it it says error
Also i want to do a factory reset but i have more than 1000 songs i don't mind about other things, i just want to save my songs, but when i connect to my computer with Windows 8.1 it detects the Nexus but i can't see the files, it doesnt prompt anything.

Check in Device Manager on your PC, if the phone shows up as an Unknown Device, you need to install/ reinstall the usb drivers. For windows 8.1 try the Universal ADB drivers (google for the link).
The solution to all Lollipop bugs is to uninstall Google Services and then reinstall and updated apk, i was plagued with all of this bugs, i managed to deactivate Android Device Manager and i uninstall Google Services, all of my Google Apps were gone it was pretty weird so i install a Google Services apk and now its smooth as f-word, i will never buy a Nexus cause of this but if all updates were as fluid as know i would love all of this but i had many headaches because of all the trouble that updating cause to my N4.
Had a similar issue with the OTA update this morning. You need to get the latest version of the Google Play Services apk. Check this thread for the download link posted by Hashim. You need to check the correct version for your phone. Its a 30 mb file and takes around 20-30 min to install. All the bugs you mentioned were fixed on my phone.

[Q] Google Play Services not working after Lollipop update

I just updated to Lollipop yesterday, and my phone has been having issues with Google Play Services since then. Once the phone had updated, I got notifications saying that it needed to be updated. I started the update and then the phone froze and restarted.
I currently have Google Play Services 6.6.03 (1681564-876) on my phone - but I don't think this is good for Lollipop. No apps that require play services will work, and the battery is draining very quickly. Anyone know how to uninstall this version and install the proper one (whichever that may be)? I don't have this phone rooted. When I try to change any settings with the app, it says that it does not have permission to do so - meaning I can't deactivate or uninstall updates.
Any help would be great!

Just an FYI I had some problems with the google play service crashing after the update to 5.0. I fixed it by installing the google play service from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-play-services-t2795911
I used the "320 DPI, armeabi-v7a CPU & Android" version if that helps.
Good luck.

I gave it a shot, but it wouldn't work. It just says app did not install when I try. I tried using the link from apk mirror, but it was the same version that you recommended.
I assume you have enable unknown sources in settings?
Yeah, I've had them enabled.
Clear cache for Google Play Store and Google Play Services. Reboot then follow the prompt to update again. Worked for me yesterday.

[Fire HD8 / 8th Gen] Unable to install Google Play Store

I am having some problems getting Google Play Store onto my Fire HD 8 (2018 / 8th Gen). I am mainly installing GPS to get Moon Reader+ Pro (paid) onto my Fire HD8. (Anything else would be a bonus)
SIDENOTE: If someone can recommend me an EPUB reader for Fire HD8 that also do text-to-speech...
First, I tried to install the 4 files directly (G Framework, G Play Services, G Play Store, G Login), using the links provided by Androidpolice. It worked, I installed a few apps, then it stopped working. Google play store wants me to login again. And again, and again... it won't save the login info, even after I confirmed login from my main Google device (my phone) like 6 times yesterday.
And I keep getting a notification that I must update Google Play Services.
So I figured okay, I'll update Google Play Services manually. Except I downloaded like 4 different versions from APKMirror, and they all say "apk is corrupt" when I install them.
I read in Reddit that I have to move the APKs back into internal storage. I did that. Rebooted, tried again. STILL errored out.
I uninstalled and deleted all four apks, and started again with Fire Toolbox 6.4
Install went okay. Entered credentials, verified login from other device. Then POOF. Quit to desktop.
When I opened Google Play Store, it's prompting me for login... AGAIN.
I do have an SD card in the device, and it's configured as adoptable storage (i.e. semi-permanent), not removable. Not sure if it makes any difference.
Any ideas?
Just an idea I had... Should I remove the SD card, to force the install into internal, THEN install Play Store?

You have a problem from Google services?
Try it to factory reset, bypass Amazon registration. Do not register with Amazon account. Remove Amazon bloat using Fire Toolbox.
Do not install the Google API services into SD card. Only install into internal storage.
I have to install Google BEFORE Amazon? Dang.
Moved EVERYTHING back into internal storage. Reformatted the SD card as portable storage. Rebooted. Confirmed there's not even an option to move app to SD now.
Deleted all four APKs, and tried to reinstall via Fire Tollbox. No joy. will not save Google login data. After entering credentials, it goes to checking info, and BOOM! Back to "sign in" button. In fact, the screen kinda froze up when installing Google Play Services with Fire Toolbox. Took a LONG time for the display to refresh, MUCH MUCH longer than it should.
Deleted all four APKs again, installed the 4 files downloaded via AndroidPolice earlier manually. Tried to enter credentials again, still no go, same thing happens. it just quits and goes back to the "sign in' button as if I've never tried to enter the credentials.
So you're telling me I have to choose between Google and Amazon, then I'll have to just leave this one alone. I have a backup tablet I can try this on though. (Yes, I have a backup HD8 and an HD7, and an HD7 4th gen I gave to a friend. )
How do I bypass Amazon registration? Device boots directly to Amazon registration. No dropdown shade, no settings, nothing.
This is VERY strange.
I tested the Google Play install with Amazon Fire Toolbox 6.5 on my HD8 (2017), which was my backup device. It worked flawlessly. I got apps and everything downloaded.
I then tried to do the same to my HD8 (2018) which is supposed to be my primary device. I already have a ton of Amazon apps and books on it, but I need something from the Play store. So I started the install process. (Incidentally 6.4 was not very happy install to the same device). Install went smoothly. I started up Play Store, which took me to login. I entered my credentials, verified login on my primary device, hit "Accept terms" then BAM! I'm back at login screen.
Okay, I erased data from Play store, login again. BAM, it won't save the login data.
Okay, uninstall play store, reboot, login again. BAM still won't save login data.
Okay, remove microSD card altogether. Reboot. Uninstall, reinstall. Login again. STILL won't save login data.
I checked, says internal storage has 3.26GB out of 10.43 GB free. So it's not a storage problem.
I can use my 2017 device, but I'd STILL like to eventually figure out what's going on. Do I need to try it fully factory-resetted?

Ways to bypass Amazon registration in setup screen after factory reset.
1. Select the Wi-Fi networks with password. Do not select an open Wi-Fi networks (no password).
2. Hit CANCEL button on enter Wi-Fi password page.
3. Then hit NOT NOW button and confirm by hitting SKIP button on dialog
If you have to connected to Wi-Fi via setup screen. It will go to registration screen
1. Fill an invalid/incorrect email address and password field and enter at several times until appears NOT NOW button
Example to fill an invalid/incorrect email address and password from registration screen:
Code:
Email address: x
Password: x
2. When the button appears, hit NOT NOW and confirm by hitting SKIP button on dialog

You forgot to reset your Fire tablet to factory defaults, and you didn't grant contacts permission to Google services.
I have a 3 Fire HD 8 (2018), deregistered, installed apps (Nova Launcher, Google services, Microsoft office, Facebook), and Google services and Google accounts are still fine on Fire OS 6.3.1.2 and 6.3.0.1.
I'm also having trouble installing the three files in a combination that works (I read elsewhere that we don't need Google account manager). Given that the Fire HD 8 (8th generation) runs Android 7.1, should we try to find files that align to this version? What are the version numbers of the 3 apks that I should find and install?
