Guys,
I was wondering if it possible to unroot My Droid X that has 2.2 OTA from Verizon? I tried to unroot with a few root/unroot problems but once I reboot the Black Ninja is still there and I'm still rooted. The only reason why I want to know just in case I might have to return my phone to Verizon . Thanks in advance.
There may be an easier solution but why not use RSD and the OTA 2.2 SBF. I know it is not a complete SBF for OTA 2.2 but it should reload the OTA 2.2 system files thous removing root and restoring the phone back to OTA 2.2.
Do you know where I might be able to get the 2.2 OTA ? THanks.
If you follow this link you should be able to get RSD as well as the SBF file needed.
The 2.2 sbf file is just the system files without any apps? Would I be able to get the official 2.2 ota once I flash with the.2.2 system only sbf?

The SBF should be the system files so I would think it would have all the stock apps with it as well. To be honest I haven't tried using it to see what it restores but like I said I would assume all the stock apps should be reinstalled with it I would imagine.
Then what's the difference between the official 2.2ota sbf that isn't released yet?

Hello,
Soory for my poor English !!!!!
For the French update, Motorola send a software but not the SBF ....
So I want to know if it is possible to extract the french SBF 2.2.2 !
thanks a lot for your answer
Search for SBF Depacker, and find a way to extract the files from CG39.smg (which is a code for system.img) from the SBF.

Ok thanks for the reply
Not sure to totally understand what you want...
Do you want to get a copy of the french 2.2.2 sbf or to find a way to open and explore it?
If you just want to get a copy, I do have it.
When you update the MM2 using Motorola Update Manager, it downloads the sbf on your harddrive, then asks if you want to proceed the update.
Before answering yes, search for *.sbf on your harddrive, and you'll find it.
(Don't start the update, because once it's over, the file is deleted)
Thanks Momus87, you have right ... dangpzanco don't understand me
I'll test your idea tomorow !!!
If you pass me the following files, I can get the SBF
system/default.prop and system/build.prop
etc/motorola/File_GSM
Miroir SBF 2.2.2 FR"]Miroir SBF 2.2.2 FR[/URL]
Thanks Momus87
Moved to proper forum. since this thread is not android development.
Sorry Mr. Clown !
Have a good day
Noob.
I just bought my MS2 and was wondering since I downloaded the update file from the Motorola UK site, if that matters or not. The WCDMA matches with the model I have, so in theory it should work. I could not find a working droid 2 bootstrap recovery. Any help would be appreciated.
You can find the droid 2 bootstrapper on the market, but, nevertheless, in order to update your phone or restore a SBF file, you must use RSD lite, with your phone thethered to a PC

Hi,
recently ive been flash my defy using sbf files 2.3.4 build number 4.5.1_128 UK Retail. but unfortunately im not to pay attention on remark section "No Downgrade, No Root, camera not working". but maybe there is other way how to downgrade the sbf files so i can used sbf 2.2.2 build number JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-33-1.
thanks in advance.
follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15341774&postcount=8 and be sure ur phone is atleast 80% charged while downgrading, good luck
But keep in mind after following this down grade guide that you can not just flash any sbf you would like afterwards! This is a "dirty" method of downgrading back to eclair and then upgrading back to froyo! Now that you have flashed a full 2.3.4 sbf you are stuck with CG39 and CG31 at level 5. Since all froyo sbf's containg CG39 and CG31 at level 4 you can not flash to them afterwards. For example, after using this downgrade guide you decide you want to switch to stock nordic froyo, you must find a nandroid of nordic froyo and restore it with CWM. You will then need to flash a fixed sbf of nordic froyo with CG39.smg removed and CG31.smg replaced with the CG31.smg from the full 2.3.4 sbf. I hope this all makes sense!
Just because you downgrade does not magically reverse the fact that you've already flashed a level 5 Code Group set. The downgrade involves flashing a unique chinese eclair which also has a level 5 CG set which is why you can flash directly to it with sbf. To get to froyo, the guide has you root this eclair and restore a CEE froyo nandroid. It then has you flash a fixed sbf of CEE froyo. This fixed sbf is CEE froyo sbf that has been depacked, CG39.smg has been removed and CG31.smg has been replaced with CG31.smg from 2.3.4 sbf. It is then repacked and flashed as a fixed sbf
YOU ARE STILL AT LEVEL 5 CG39.smg and CG31.smg
So I can depack a stock froyo 2.2.1 sbf and replace its cg31.smg with cg31.smg from the full 2.3.4 sbf and fhis way have a froyo sbf with level 5 files?

yes ive already do tutor from Mahersa, but what i mean is how to make it that i can flash with full sbf original again, because i need to take to motorola for warranty...
It is impossible, as the new CG version is permanently burned into the processor.
I definitely do not recommend doing this, but I suppose you can flash the old SBF and somehow break the CPU enough so that Motorola can't read the CG version,
Other than that there's nothing you can really do, as replacing the processor is basically impossible and will cost more money than buying a new phone.
ooo sh*T, is it really motorola technician will try to read the CG version? im thinking to flash with lower sbf until screen go blank, and will say to CS "i dont know why my phone goes blank like this" and hope will get replacement ..
anyway i got strange now after i follow Mahersa tutorial, now my Defy using CM7 but the strange is my internal storage only 128MB OMG where is the rest of my 2 GB

No because the froyo sbf contains cg39.smg at level 4. CG39.smg is the system code group. If you remove this code group you remove the froyo system. This is why you must restore a froyo nandroid, because that will overwrite the system without flashing CG39 thus maintaining it at a level 5

Ok, got it. If at last we have a way of manually increment these numbers... But it won't solve OP's problem with warranty. How can I see the current level of these files on my system?

solved. after all done reset to factory default setting-->privacy all my internal memory back to normal...
Done some searching but couldn't find anything (maybe i'm retarded, if so plz just point me in the right direction). Started with an Alltel Milestone X (Droid X), 2.2.2 Froyo. Rooted phone, had no issues. Woke up to a forced OS update after Alltel switched to Verizon one day (did automatically over night), 2.3.5 Gingerbread. Lost my root, but Super User is still on the phone. It also removed clockwork, boot strapper, etc. Along with all backups I had made....
Issue I'm having is I can't root, because Super User is already installed.... Can't access Super User because there's no root.... Can't delete with out Super User access.... WTF phone....
Was going to look for an SBF file, but not sure if I can use one, or which one to use??? Since it was an Alltel phone, now updated to Verizon.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sbf
Ok, now what SBF file should I use? Because of the carrier switch, it's confusing to me. Some info on my phone:
System Version: 4.5.604.MB809.ACG.en.US
Model Number: Milestone X
Android Version: 2.3.5
Baseband Version: BP_V_02.1200R
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-geadffa3
[email protected]#1
Build Number: 4.5.1_57_MX2-34
ERI Version: 5
PRL Version: 40085
I would use Milestone X .604, as that one can still easily be rooted. Once you do use titanium backup or similar app to freeze the system app "updater" so this doesn't happen again. The new. 621 ota can't be SBF and is a ***** to root, so you don't want your phone automatically updating that one.
Clear cache after freezing the app too to be safe, in case your phone downloaded the update before you froze it.

You might be able to fix this without an SBF. I had a similar problem coming from .596 and fixed it using Petes Motorola Root Tool. The utility runs from your PC, not an app on the phone. I used the tool to UNROOT first, then used it again to re-root. No SBF needed. Here is a link that might help you.

Pete's unroot failed:
ADB could not be granted root access.
Pete's root faild:
ADB could not be granted root access via local.prop method
And now my phone is completely f'd lol. I have no service, and it won't activate either, just reboots...
So, got a link to the Milestone X .604 SBF??
Found a .604 sbf and flashed through linux. Phone works again, but same problem, super user is still there.... Should I have lost all my apps, etc when I SBF'd?? Cause I didn't loose anything, gained a few apps I didn't have...
Only thing that changed in my "about phone"
System version is now:
4.5.604.MB809.ACG-nTelos.en.US
Try sbf from Verizon. I have a feeling the altell wont work, if you are now on Verizon, i would think your basrband would be as well
Try the 4.5.605...verizon.en sbf ... I mean its borked anyways.
Once you sbf , see where you are at.
I f you still have su but no root, I would use pete's to root again. Then try unroot.
The good news is you can pick up a dx. For around 100-150$ on ebay.
The reason I recommend the 605, is because when that updated my phone I lost root, so maybe you will luck out.
Gl ....and let us know how it goes.
Ps remember to tick usb debug, and it may be a good idea to use an older rsd as well like rsd lite.

Oh and im on the 605, I never got the latest update(.621) because I have blocked most of verizons bs. And yes I used pete's to root, works great.

Not sure if I can use the Verizon SBF. The Droid X uses Baseband BP_C_01.09.15P while the Milestone X uses Baseband BP_C_02.12.00P

After u SBF'd, did u factory reset?
I received a Razr Maxx HD (XT926) device with JB 4.1.1 pre-installed and no information on any forum as to any successful way to root a deivce that was either running JB, or that upgraded to JB without prior root. After some trial, error, and research, this is the only successful way to root a JB device thusfar.
It has been mistakenly posted on numerous forums that once your on JB, you can no longer go back to ICS... this is incorrect and completely false (except for the OG Razr XT912 Family, due to security changes within the bootloader, rendering this inoperable). Here is what you will require:
RSD Lite 6.1.4 (http://www.mediafire.com/?3ckiknmwcpjolb2)
OEM Moto ICS Firmware (4.0.4) file (http://sbf.droid-developers.org/)
For XT926 Firmware (possibly others if you receive a fail in RSD Lite), you will need to extract the compressed file and manually edit the .xml file with notepad, completely deleting all lines of code containing "getvar" (should be 2 lines). Save & Close.
Put device into AP Fastboot mode, open RSD Lite, select the folder with the extracted Firmware files, then select Start.
Once RSD Lite has completed the flash, it will reboot your phone and you will be on stock ICS ready to root.
Root your phone with Matt's Droid Razr Utility for your specific device.
XT926 http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/t...-verizon-droid-razr-and-droid-razr-maxx-only/
Follow these instructions for maintaining root beforeyou re-upgrade to JB:
http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/t...-how-to-keep-root/page__p__152496#entry152496
Credit also needs to go out to Fridza at AndoMods for writing about the .xml edit, which I was unable to find elsewhere:

WARNING:
AS STATED ABOVE, THIS WILL NOT WORK ON THE OLD FAMILY OF RAZRS/MAXXS, ETC., SUCH AS THE XT912. ATTEMPTING THIS ON THOSE VERSIONS WILL BRICK THEM GUARANTEED.
Or you could just start with the Utility 1.10 and do everything with one program (revert back to ICS, root, protect root, unroot, take JB OTA update, re-root). No need to fiddle around with deleting lines of code (and possibly mistakenly deleting important lines of code to keep...)

but it doen`t work on RAZR HD (XT925), is that correct ?
Unsure about xt925, the OP stated for xt926.
Yes, you can use it on XT925, but with cautious !
When my JB on XT925 something went wrong, I was able to go back to ICS 4.0.4 with the utility 1.10.
However, it will install the Verizon version of 4.0.4 on your phone, so if you are with another provider, it will say that your SIM card does not mach the current network (Verizon).
But, it will let you update to JB of your choice & install the CWM-SuperSU-v0.99 (for root) on your XT925 .
So, as a the last resort reason, you can use it on XT925.

I don`t dare to take that risk. My phone is a german t-mobile.
You can without problem if you re bootloader is unlocked !
thanks a bunch bro
Can you still fast boot ICS after upgrading to 4.1.2? I have heard many are having trouble downgrading their firmware after the update.

Scared!
Hi, first time poster, I followed your instructions to a t, the rsd failed at step 8/27 and now I'm stuck in ap fastboot screen. I don't know much about this stuff I was wondering what steps I could take to get my phone running?
