Help: Alarm not sounding when phone charging - XPERIA X8 General

Hi there!
I'm having this issue, whenever I go to sleep (and leave the phone charging), next day the alarm is not sounding. Is there any way to solve this? I mean it's almost impossible to go to bed withouth leaving the phone charging... but at the same time I need to wake up to the alarm, and this is not happening. (The alarm DOES sound when the phone is disconnected from the battery charger)
Thank you.

Firstly , avoid charging overnight... Excessive charging leads to heating , thus shortening battery life.
Secondly , Reflash your ROM. That might help. Or simply use another ROM.
And I was just wondering , maybe you could charge your phone 2 hours before you sleep , and unplug it just before going to sleep.
That way you'd almost have full charge when you wake up

Thanks for your response.
Didn't know about overheating the phone when charging overnight. Good to know, I will keep it in mind.
I'm using Android 2.1, the one that comes with the phone (didn't try to change ROM). But I have rooted it by using SuperOneClick.
If I repair the phone (using PC Companion) is there any danger to hard brick the phone or similar considering it has been rooted? Besides that, will I lose all installed apps? (including the ones I paid for)

ok maybe this bug from your rom please change rom to minicm7 or fde 2.4.5

After 4 months, my X1 is DIRE

The battery now lasts for 6 hours (compared to 3 days when new) and the phone is slower than you would believe. The charger broke so I have to charge by USB. It takes over a minute to show a text message, and when typing back, about 5 seconds between pushing a key and seeing the character.
ever heard of warranty?
Maybe "things" are in the memory that you don't know of?
Are there conections always turned on (wifi, 3g, bt) that you are not aware of?
just do a hard-reset .. no big deal
Try hard resetting (unless you have then oops ignore me) and perhaps that will help? I have had my x1 for about the same amount of time and its still flying, I get about 3 days use with moderate usage and longer if I dont use it that often... chock full of programs and apps too...
There's nothing running that shouldn't be. But a hard reset does seem like a sensible first step. Wasn't there meant to be an update out in January?
Also remember that if you charge the battery over PC-USB, you will need to wait for at least 4 hours or even more to charge it to the max (that's if you do not use it while charging). Windows mobile often lies about the battery status, says it's full, but it isn't yet full. Just wait an hour more after win says the battery is full.
By a new charger. You can find them in any electronic store for about 15€. If a new charger and hard reset or reflash with the latest ROM dosen't work. There is always the warranty as said before.

There was an update in January, it fixed a load of issues and sped the device up. Try upgrading, if that doesn't work then return the handset. There's no way the X1 should be as bad as you describe, something is very wrong.
Try charging the device with it completely shut down, then report back. USB charging is kinda ehhhh.
Well I've wiped the phone and upgraded the software, but performance is unchanged in POutlook. It was ok, until it re-populated the inbox (with 400+ messages). Should I be managing my messages in some way?

[Q] [Help] My battery is draining too fast, some soft problem ?

I bought this Hero off eBay, and it was dodgy since the begining.
The phone had cyanogen, and was restarting itself occasionally.
So i wiped it, installed 2.1 and it got fixed, but now i have a problem with battery drainage.
Its insance, 10minutes-10% im pretty sure its not supposed to be like that. with or without wifi/3d turned on, its just riddiculous.
I borrowed battery from a friend, and that didint make any change, i installed latest update from the autoupdate in the phone and still its bad. I read somewhere here that its faulty email app that keeps on trying to sync and drains battery, how do i fix that ?
I did a full wipe, cleared cache and everything back to factory settings, with no apps installed it goes from 100% to 0% in an hour.
I downloaded 2.1 from some android forum, as i was unable to find one here (there are only links to 1.5 on the xda.wiki WHY?)
If you can point me to a proper 2.1 (or higher?) software to download that doesnt do this crazy **** i'll be happy as infant on crack.
Please help, here is my software information:
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Baseband version: 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26
Kernel version: 2.6.29-063c4d24
Build number: 3.32.405.2 CL191507release-keys
Software number: 3.32.405
Browser version: WebKit 3.1
Try calibrating your battery it gave me a huge boost on my hero... went from getting 16hours day.. to about 30hours on a single charge!!
Every time you flash a new ROM you need to calibrate your battery. The battery meter in the OS (Android in this case) is generated based on the battery stats file.
Battery stats is erased when you flash a new ROM.
Easiest method of battery calibration when you're intending on flashing a ROM:
Ensure battery is fully charged according to the OS. Switch phone off, unplug charger and plug back in. Once light is green, leave charging for another 30 minutes (light goes green at approx 95% charge).
Switch on, flash ROM. Allow first boot to complete.
Shut phone off. Disconnect charger. Remove battery. Replace battery. Place on charge, light green, leave charging another 30 minutes, yadda yadda. Switch phone on, boot immediately to recovery. Wipe battery stats.
Boot phone up. Now would be a good time to install JuicePlotter. Use as normal. Do not charge, let the battery run down completely. When the phone shuts itself off, power it back on. Repeat process until it won't switch on anymore.
Remove the battery. Put the battery back. Turn the phone on. Repeat until it won't turn on anymore.
Now charge the battery on the mains to 100% while the phone is off, keep charging for 30 minutes after light goes green. Power on. Voila, fully calibrated battery.
The last part, run until completely dead and charge only needs to be done once in a while (this is calibrating the battery innards, not the battery stats)

hah, yea thats what i accidentally figured. phone was switching off, but when i powered it back on it had 30%.. and it was like that 3 or 4 times.
I ran it down completely and now am charging it till max, we'll see what happens. at worst i'lkl start your process from the beginning thx !
I diidnt know you had to do that. i've been playing with my G1 and not even once i had to calibrate that.. maybe i should
How'd it go? Any improvement on battery life?
it diidnt help I did what you quoted step by step and its still running down the battery like crazy :/ what else can i do ? im thinking of switching to 1.5 but thats just not progressive and my friends phone is running fine on 2.1, with the same battery even.
Edit: i've installed task killer and killed all the mail checking apps.. hope that is the problem
Edit2: it didint help at all, in 5 minutes i lost 15% fcuking hell !
I just switched to 1.5 and its still happening ! I using a different battery and its just as bad... why is this happening to me
ill try second to latest radio from xda wiki.. im running out of ideas, what else can i do ?
That really wierd... its not the battery if you have tried using different ones. Its not the ROM if u have changed it.
Have you tried disabling auto-updates? and auto-checks for emails. Which email client do you have? you should find the option to "sync-never" in the app settings.
Buying it from ebay is kinda ominous though.. was it described as faulty? perhaps you could contact the seller and request a refund is all else fails?
you can try using setcpu to underclock the cpu.
i have similar situation as you. before going to bed around 11pm, it showed 50% left, turned on airplane mode, then in the morning around 6am, phone was powered off.
now it has been 2 days, still have 20% left.

Did you ever take into consideration that some part of the hardware might be damaged?
Devices that got water damaged, sometimes show weird symptoms as well:
- They still boot up and seem to work well from the first sight
- The battery drains very quickly
- Some of the peripherals are not working stable or not starting up anymore (e.g. wifi, bt, gps)
- Other crazy things might happen as well (e.g. random reboots, backlight flicker, etc.)
So you might have a look at the mainboard. Red stickers indicate water damage!
Regards,
scholbert
Yea but if it were damaged would it show 50% battery after restarting thinking it had reached 5% ? i dont have the tools or will to unscrew it.
i paid 100 pounds fo it, the normal price of a used hero, but the auction said "phone restarts for no reason" and they do not accept returns, so im propably screwed :I
I had an old blackberry 8300 curve, i had it in the bathroom while i was showering, got too moist, turned the detection pads red but phone seemed to work fine after i dried it out. But the battery went to crap progressively in the manner. I would charge to 100%, take it off the charger and maybe an hour it would say less than 10%, do a battery pull and it would go back up to maybe 80% and last maybr another hour and keep doing that till it would normally drain on top od the numerous reboots i would be doing until eventually it would just drain and die.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Can dead pixels cause this ? i have like three.. but then again why would it show 50% after restarting from 5%..
the thing is its not draining the battery, just registering it wrong

sorry mate i have tried everything unsuccessfully and returned the phone to the seller.. dont tell me you bought it ? (london)
No, but i have a samsung galaxy tab and experience similar symtoms. It does not bother me too much, the battery life is still great. Just the percentage is off and i need to restart from time to time.
I read similar complaint from droid x forum too.

Recalibrate your Samsung Galaxy S the PROPER way

HI guys i will be showing you how i recalibrated my battery and it worked for me,
1.charge phone till full (EVEN IF IT DROPS TO 98 AS SOON AS YOU UNPLUG ITS OK)
2.drain the phone and i mean DRAIN turn on everything (sync, wifi, bluetooth, everything
3.once your phone automatically switches off try boot if not boot into download mode
4.stay in download mode until it switches off again
5.once it switches off try accessing it again keep on doing it untill you cant
6.charge phone till full (make sure you dont switch on phone)
7.once it says full take off phone charger and quickly put it back in make sure you do it fast and do this 5-6 times
8.without taking charger off boot into recovery
9.wipe battery status but as soon as you are about to wipe quickly take off charger once it wiped put it back in and reboot phone
10. give it 3-4 days and make sure you do battery cycles
11.try flashing a different modem im using ZSJPG link:http://insanity.rollus.net/addons/modems/ZSJPG-Modem.zip thanks to nitr8 and alll the other rom developers
thx m8 very well explained, ill try to do it later

Have you checked the battery's voltage while doing this? Or is there a built in deep discharge protection even in download mode?
your phone will have a bit of power left to go to download mode for safety incase you do brick it but you cant brick your phone when your recalibrating
Personally i would only go that extreme route if you have a battery problem .
Multiple full drains and multiple bump charges is no good for battery life .
jje
I agree. I wouldn't go that extreme. if u r experiencing battery problem, use battery recalibrate app for galaxy s. (search xda forum and you will find it less than a minute)
It is more than sufficient to solve common problems

It's not so much a question of bricking the phone, it's more if you let a li-po battery (like the one in the SGS) go below a certain voltage it can damage the cells and drastically reduce the life of the battery
Ive read that such discharging your device (whether phone or pda) is not good for the battey, and that you should never try to force discharge it ...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Both bump charging and complete discharging can damage the battery.
Teaching this is both incorrect, irresponsible and dangerous as excessive discharges can under certain circumstances cause the battery to effectively explode the next time it is charged.
http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/battery_calibration
http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries
All this voodoo and mystery around calibration is silly. It's a simple process that need not be made any more complicated. Bump charging may be alright, however it significantly reduces the service life of the battery and so should not be done regularly, without proper warning.
I thought I would add my 2 cents to the battery thread. I am in the UK and have an XEU phone. I have gone through all different firmwares, modems etc. and all of them had one thing in common.....
Anything above XXJPY would just rape my battery and I mean about 50% in about 12h running barebones. Beleve me when I say that I tried all sorts. Currently I am running my own custome deodexed and stripped JPY, and havn't looked back.

[Q] Popup low battery notification doesn´t shows up

Hello everyone,
I recently bougth (1 month) my samsung google nexus 10, and when i connected him, at home, i see that it comes with 4.2.
When i connect it to my network by wifi, automaticaly upgrade the system , now i have 4,4,2 KOT49H.
My problem is, my tablet rarely popups the low battery notification. I tried to install some app i find in google store, and i find this one, battery notifier bt free 99, where i can set a custom sound for low and full charge battery.
But no way to work neither.
I install this app in 2 other devices android (1 tablet , 1 smartphone) with android 4,2.2 and it´s works.
Do you have also this problem with yours google nexus 10, or it´s just me.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Sorry but I don't quite understand your problem. Is it only not showing the low battery? Maybe it's the case that it doesn't even get to 15%, which is the first notification. My tablet, for example, is shutting down on 20%, so it doesn't show the notification. If that's your case as well, then you should recalibrate your battery (I need to do with mine as well ).
If that's not the problem, then I'll need to examine further... For now, just make it clearer for me .
~Lord
I had to buy a new battery mine would always say 100% but when it was dead the tablet would shut down I could recharge but still always reported 100 are you having the same problem? Mine was brand new from eBay he sent me another tablet and said I could send my old one back or keep it for 75 so I did that a battery is around 40 on eBay and is easy to replace. For me anyways.

hey my battery on my nexus 10 is not acting up. It will charge to 100% but soon as I unplug it, it will shut down a few sec/mins later and while completely off it show that the battery is either 0% or 100%, but wont boot up pass the animation screen. If I leave it plugged in for a while it boots up all the way and then it shows that its at 0%. However after only a few mins it will show that it is 100% working. So Im not sure if its the actual battery or some sort of corruption between the actually battery level and the data file that shows u the battery level. The funny thing is that I can go in and navigate all through Recovery Mode with now problem....even when the tablet shows that its at 0% and wont boot up pass the animation screen. So Im really confused. Any suggestion or thoughts? Also if i have to swap the battery how easy or hard is it?

I have the same issue: battery stays at 100% no matter what I do. It is a NEW REPLACEMENT BATTERY which I got over e-bay, to fix the old one which had the erratic behavior as decribed above (either 100% or 0%, not even booting up). I see 100% charge always, thoug it does react to AC (un)plug. What is the solution here? There is buch of people writing at forums to replace the battery, but it was not the fix for me. Is it possible that the replacement piece is broken as well? Or is it software? Or some pther hardware module, which may be replaced?

Maaann Ive done so much research on this and couldnt really find anything. I have no idea what the problem is....one part says its the battery....another part says its something else.....I think theres a miss-communication between the battery and the charger (I think). They are not speaking the same langue. But thats just my personal opinion. I took my tablet apart using a friend tool kit to see if maybe discounnecting the battery as well as the other port would do anything...but nope...nothing happened. I still get the same results. I was then forced to call Google...who ended up transferring me to samsung becuz Im not longer on warrant (time expired). Samsung said for $108 they should be able to diagnose..and fix my tablet (including shipping both ways), provided it doesnt have water damage or any physical damage. (which can lead to paying more money). Im just going to do that bcuz at least I know the work will be guaranteed. Im a bit nervous bcuz my tablet is rooted and has a custom rom on it, But at the same time it shouldnt matter bcuz im not in warranty anyways, So hopefully i'll be good.
All that being said.....I really dont which is causing the issue.

Problem battery note 3

Guys I have a problem for the battery of my notes 3. when loading the phone off me arriving at 100% then when I go to turn down towards 95% as ever ?? I also bought a new battery and always makes the same joke then I consume a lot. For example when I go to school not using it almost never goes down by 40%.
I have to bring in warranty you think?
Do a factory reset to rule out software problem?
Some further information would be great.
1. How old is your phone?
2. Customrom or stock? IceCreamSandwich, JellyBean, Kitkat or Lollipop? If customrom is it stockbased or cm/omni etc.
3. Did you charged your phone always using trustworthy chargers?
4. Do you use original spare parts?
5. Did you try to calibrate your battery? (never had a prob. with battery calibration, but you never know..)
6. Do you have a batterylog? Maybe there's a battery draining app.
Software related problems can be solved doing a factory reset or, if this doesn´t work, try to update to latest available android version.

boys then the phone has just 7 months old and I have always used products samsung original. use as OS 4.4.2 kitkat officer and I have done
several times factory reset etc but I always have the same problem.
as calibrations battery not having root permissions I never made.
do you have mp3 files on your Sdcard?i had a battery drain once because of an audio mix service.the cause was bad mp3 files.if so take a backup of them, delete the ones on your phone, see if the prob is gone or not.
I am willing to help but honestly i cant understand your english. can you show us the battery usage?
Just to clarify it,
you charge your phone untill it reaches 100%.
Then you plug it off and it instantly drops down to 95%
You did a factory reset and the issue persists
If this is correct it seems to be an issue with the charging controller. If you never modified your hardware/software (tripping knox or whatever) sent it to service.

Don't quiet understand what your saying?
You having issues with your battery draining quickly?
If so download Battery Doctor and it will display apps using your battery.
Try turning off bluetooth, wifi, any connection apps and see if that helps.
Your need to narrow the issue down.
