I have installed the first ICS leak and have not rooted.
Tonight I discovered by accident that we can now use folders in the stock launcher.
This is done by dropping an icon on top of another. Then you can tap the bottom of the open folder and name it.
You can also rearrange the icons within the folders by dragging them around.
This is great as I was using an app to do this in 3.2.1 that was quite slow.
Does anyone know of any other enhancements to the stock launcher?

Anyone ?

Yeah, i would want the 2.3 screen off animation too, but seems like they will only come by official firmwares.

I know I have seen q video of android 1.5 and the animations there are amazing it has rotation animation :-\
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
There must be something to do with the thingy they changed from 1.5-2.1 to animation files to read-only. Well, at least spare parts say that fancy rotation animation can only be used on 1.5
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
You can add animations to Sense rom's by using the UOT Kitchen.
Well if there is still a 1.5 rom maybe we can get the animation from the framework res ?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Does anyone know were I can get a 1.5 ROM?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You won't find a Desire rom with 1.5, but what is wrong with the animations form the UOT Kitchen?

ROTATION ones! It's like you turn your phone into landscape, and your screen like zooms out and rotates and zooms back in, which is cool

Starting this week, hopefully, I wanna begin work on a 2.3 ROM for X8 featuring the SlideScreen Pro setup, but improving on a couple things, such as:
1) App interface Clean milky-white interface all around, with classic gray and orange colors. GingerBread (etc) options integrated into SlideScreen style
2) Gmail notifications to main screen Revert Gmail notifications from StatusBar onto main screen
3) Revamping looks, feel, and functionality Improving overall menu-ergonomics, giving it a SlideScreen-MIUI feel and look
Anybody wanting and willing to collaborate is more then welcome.
I'll post some preliminary interface pics after Tuesday, March 6th, since I gotta get a separate laptop running Linux, due to daughter needing play games on the PC . Once I do some basic mods to the SlideScreen interface, I'll test it on GB. Once I get the appropriate performance, I'll post Alpha.
like it
i like slidescreen
i like ur idea
may i give u more idea..
can you make it more ICSish..
ill wait..
maybe i can become the first tester..

No sorry not making a rom, was interested initially because I was looking for a good modded version of the launcher fully functional with no fc. I use 1.26 now but I want 2.0 full with no fc in Facebook.

Sorry for my noobish question but Is there a fix for this? I've search the entire thread and found nothing.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA
Could you elaborate some please?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA
What do you want to fix? The pointer comes up when you touch the dpad an disappears right away.
Unfortunately, there's currently no way to keep the mouse pointer from appearing when touching the trackpad on ICS ROMs right now (at least that's what I'm getting from the countless threads I've read...)
Ohh sorry let me make this more clear, when I touch the touch pad on any ics rom a mouse pointer appears is there a way to remove this?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA
I don't think you can, most people just look over it..
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
Just a theory, but if he mods the framework-res apk and edits the mouse pointer to all transparent and repackages shouldn't that make it work for what he wants?

Possibly, but I'm not sure people actually use the trackpad enough for the pointer to be that much of an issue.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
Hmm thanks for all the help guys, it doesn't bother me but it would be nice to have the track pad to its original use like in the stock rom but its a want not a need XD
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA
I used the track pad a great deal for editing text, its a no can do with the pointer. I've resorted to just doing that by hand, takes some getting used to but well worth the exchange for a clean ICS Rom!
I found a fix for this issue. If you go to Melchizedeks ics from there is a "trackpad fix" zip. I will post a link later. I was having the same issue, this fixed it for me.

thx, it works great with rooted stock GB. although it behaves somewhat like stock android, i.e. sense widgets from GB can't be placed on home screen. wierd, but there are always alternatives from play store...nice find!!

I've had this apk in a rom before but I can't remember which one. Does anybody have the apk handy to post here?

Use the search button and ask in the appropriate forum (themes and apps) in this case. The app is in the first or second page there so I am not going to post a link.
Thank you.
