iphone os 4 vs froyo

Do you think think there will be anything in the ios4 that will be very unexpected? I think just the implementation of multitasking will be a big improvement for iphone users. Hopefully froyo will get all Android phones up to the same OS level. I am expecting that Gingerbread to be the version that brings a UI overhaul and many other features.
All this competition will benefit us a lot
it's not the OS, its the apps and android is seriously missing the apps. i want to stick with android so bad but the quality of the apps as compared to iphone is pathetic. i hope this changes or i'll be back to apple.

I agree with you on that android seriously needs to attract some more app developers. Not switching back to apple though.

I only partially agree. Which apps are present in the Apple Store that are not present in Android Market are you referring to?
Even if the iPhone 4G isn't better than the Nexus, the news and media will make it so that it is better than the Nexus in every shape way and form. Though, that app thing is true - but I do prefer free over paid. App developers have been iWashed by Apple, they won't switch to Android till they really need to.
Don't see why they won't just port their apps though, that way they would be making twice the money..
Most of the games by Gameloft and EA games arn't on android yet.

this is just off the top of my head. i dont care about games whatsoever. even the apps that are there don't have the professional look the iphone apps have. google needs to do something to attract developers....
HEY OHHH.... Let the games begin!
Personally, I am excited to see what the future brings us. I know that no matter what, i will be buying the iPhone HD (supposedly, thats its name), and the next google product. Let the games begin!
Just use a bookmark for SWA. Mobile site looks just like an app.

Yeah seriously, the Android Marketplace is pathetic in comparison to the AppStore. Half of the apps are "crapps" that are essentially apps using the built in web-browser going to a website.
There's a browser. What's the point of building an app that just goes to one web-page anyway? If iPhone OS 4.0 gets multi-tasking, that will totally neuter the only advantage Android has over the iPhone.
The app quality is lacking. The media player is crap and Google has no good way for me to sync and manage my media unlike the iPhone. And because it's Google, and their revenue does come from people using their web-services, there will be no incentive for them to favour the Android over the iPhone when it comes to the provision of their services. An example of this would be gmail, contacts and calendars push synchronisation. What used to be a unique feature of the Android phone is now available on the iPhone. Pretty much anything I can do on the Android, I can do on the iPhone.
I prefer the ability to mold the os to my needs not mold my needs to the os. This is the major downfall of the iphone for me and I suspect many others, I just cant fiddle around with it enough to satisfy. Unless that changes the iphone will have to spit out naked & horny supermodels before Im on the wagon. Now assuming THAT happens I will be more than willing to set aside my differences.
Agree with the app issue, it needs to have more developers becoming involved.

Well if you stay an Android user, you'll continue to build an Android user base.
Once that % of users gets high enough, you'll see that developers realize they ought to port their app to the other system. Hence certain cool apps like Swype, Facebook, Digg realize this and have made apps for both platforms.
So yeah, just stay on Android and support a bit more

I read an interesting article that a lot of the top iPhone app developers are not working on iPad stuff because they are too focused on developing Android. Android seems to have hit a tipping point, and is taking off really fast and furiously. Give it 6 months to a year, and we won't have anymore fan boys flaming our forums with "we have more apps and a better app store" BS.
Want to talk about pointless apps, App Store has them too... how many fart apps? How many "ring-tone packs" counted as an "app"?

Official Twitter app launched for Android

This has just started to spread itself around the web - I got the message via mashable but I then hurried along to the Android Marketplace only to find no such app listed. A friend has a 2.1 Desire and he's got it. Another disappointment for Hero and it's 1.5....
I'm on a 2.1 Rom and it works great
Sent from my Hero using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
Yes, i think its the best twitter app for android.
But there is no fullscreen widget for the homescreens (such as HTC Peep)
Only half screen size widget which you can see only one tweet
This epitomises the whole 2.1 debacle.
Its an open UI FFS and the market is evilly fragmented and despondent. Google should be applying pressure here to balance this thing out.
Without them the OS would not exist and the manufs could not 'freeride' on the back of it.
All that money and early adoption. I would have been better off sticking with my Kaiser and then waiting for a 2.1 equipped handset.
The 'Desirers' will be in the same position in 4 months though if HTC have a Legend2 or Infinite or whatever they choose to release

The Official Facebook SDK for Android

The Official Facebook SDK for Android
We're really excited to launch the beta version of the Facebook SDK for Android, which we demoed at Google I/O in San Francisco last week. Over 100 million people use Facebook on their mobile phones every month, and Android is one of the fastest growing mobile platforms. We're open-sourcing tools and example code that make it simple for the thousands of Android developers to integrate Facebook Platform into their applications and reach a large and ever-growing mobile audience.

I was, but I've come to the conclusion that the HD2 is a pretty specialist piece of kit and if you want a particular app for it you're going to have to dig. That said, you can and will usually find it (here). I joined xda before getting my HD2 and this site had a lot of influence on my decision to get it. The best apps I've downloaded lately are cht/editor/scheduler 2.0 (quite(ly) brilliant) and DNetworkTools. I really thought the HD7 was the death knell of the HD2, but that deaths been greatly exaggerated.
yes, windows has loads and loads of apps that are really useful (you just need to dig, dig deeper and search)..they are all stand alone apps...unlike that in android and ios, where (al)most of the apps are simple shortcut icons to webpages and need constant data/wifi......most of these apps are useless and servo no purpose apart from a few hrs of fun............windows and hd2 combo is excellent, for a little change, you can log into android too .
coming to new apps, well they will come out...because w7 is still not available everywhere
The HD2 can run WM or Android. I keep coming back to WM since Android doesn't have the apps I want to use.
(Other people's experiences may differ from mine.)
still waiting for the official 3.14 stock rom and i think il wait for the final version of CHT 2 as i experienced a few bugs with the beta..rather stick to winmo as the handset is not a native android device.how stable is android on the hd2?
here is one of the latest apps which i thought was pretty good

BlueStacks brings 400,000 Android apps to Windows 8

BlueStracks is gonna bring all android apps to Windows 8. This is very exciting news. I would buy a Windows 8 tablet if the apps works as good as they work on Android.
Source
Installed the beta on my Lenovo touchscreen netbook. I installed google maps and it runs well but it won't recognize the Bluetooth GPS receiver so won't navigate hoping when they release the pro version this feature will work

I'll be excited to see how this goes. Android app library + Metro UI= YES PLEASE
This kind of hackability is gonna make x86 Windows on a tablet *the* best choice for power users in the coming years...
Bluestack is nothing new, nothing fancy and nothing impressible. It is way slow (even for a i7) and it uses a lot of resources. They promised that they will fix those bugs but apparently the only work that they do was to make it a "windows 8 exclusive". meh.

Ha.... Considering windows 8 aps are meant to work across multiple devices I would assume a lot of people want it. WP7 apps will work on win 8 pcs and Xbox 360's and vise versa

Android does this as well more or less you just won't find anyone using android as the OS on their PC. So here's where MS has a leg up. I'd more say it's a smart way of doing business... What company wouldn't want to make just ONE app that'll work across different types of devices

hey... i test drove bluestacks oover thanksgiving and had a code and allthat and ran every app i had over the course of two hours then forgot aboout it.
now i cant seem to get a code... im signed up for the beta and all that but wheres the code?

Now we've just got to successfully emulate Windows 7/8 and iOS on Android. iEmu would've been great but thats discontinued now
Yeah I love BlueStacks, it's really well made. Can't wait for the beta to come out
Just saw that beta got released. Anyone know what information they access to provide this? Google search listed terms and privacy links for their official website but clicking them just brought me to their homepage to download the application. Just wanted to do some reading before I try it out
Edit: site is overloaded which is why some parts such as privacy and terms pages are not accessible. Got the information that they'll be replaced with light versions for now. Also if anyone's interested as to how they work out what apps are on your device, they just pull the installed application list from your device. They don't look at or connect through the Google account to get the list from the Google play store. Not trying to be awkward, I was just enquiring what privacy or information I have to give up in order to use this beta service (which is free to use, so I was just looking for a catch) and how they access information. Seems okay to me now .

Yup, just saw this news this morning and i was pretty excited to try angry birds and angry birds space on my PC!!!!! I like the fact that most apps work not just the games and entertainment ones. Hopefully soon the WP8 merges with windows 8 and then we have one Marketplace for all devices
I'm definitely going to have to install Windows 8 on the MBP through VMware and then try this application out. Talk about super cool!
I dont think that bluestacks will support ALL android Apps, for example, is hard to give support to 3d games or AR apps...
bluestacks is slow and clunky.
tested on series7 samsung slate.
I'd totally get a Windows tablet if it could run all the Android apps as well as W8, with that and a keyboard dock I could replace my current Android tab & laptop.
now this is cool
What is blue stack???
