Guys, I got a(nother) problem.
Yesterday, I was able to flash CM9 on my Defy+. Everything worked fine, had signal, wifi, camera, etc. When the battery was at 20% I put it in the charger. An hour later I wanted to install some apps, so I stopped charging, and when I did that, my Defy+ rebooted.
Only it did not boot correctly, it gives the motorola logo for about 5 seconds, then gives a screen with a question mark in an empty battery. I can't do antything after that. When it is at that state, there's a red LED constantly on (at the top of my defy+) and the 4 android buttons stay light up.
When I take it out of the charger, it goes dead.
When I plug it in the PC, nothing happens, except a white LED is constantly on (at the top of my Defy+)
I can still go into recovery (pressing volume down when booting+blue led).
I can also go into (another recovery?): holding volume down, then turning my defy on.
I hope you guys can help me, this is really annoying me
(Also, does these things happen with custom roms often? Cause if so I will switch back to stock ASAP)

Which build have you used, buddy?
This is the one I used and the battery was charging and everything completely normally:
http://quarx2k.ru/cm9-nightly-defy+/
Those are the only CM9 builds that are REALLY for the DEFY+, since Quarx has recently got his hands on a DEFY+ himself.
P.S. I have never had that problem with any ROM I've tried. I've even used some ROM's for normal DEFY for some time, even thought they couldn't charge the battery over 90%.
MB525
The same was happen with me. But my Defy is MB525
I have installed the kernel froyo, and cm9 Quarx for defy. I used for a little time and put on charger. After this I see M logo for 5 sec and my phone will not turn
When I connect USB cable, the device is not recognized and sometimes don't turn on the white LED.
I charged the battery on universal charger and not solved my problem
Sorry my bad english. I'm brazilian, thanks.
Battery error
I have the same issue, after successful flash my Motorola Defy to CM9 next day phone died.
it gives the motorola logo for about 5 seconds, then gives a screen with a question mark in an empty battery. I can go to recovery mode only when usb cable is plug in.
Does anyone know what should be done?
I was able to flash one more time CM9 but it hasn't helped.
Is the problem solved? i got same one and dont know what to do wit it
I had the problem running quarxs defy+ build on a regular defy. I flashed the battery fix for defy from recovery and it solved the problem.

Okay everyone.
I have a huge problem.
Yesterday I flashed the CM9 5th March Quarx ROM on my Defy Red Lense with the CM9 Kernel.
Everything went through fine, and I loved it.
Today, I was using my phone to have it suddenly reboot.
I think, well OK must be a bug or something. So then this weird thing comes up - where the battery icon would normally be is a question mark in the battery.
I thought my phone was fully charged when it crashed, so I pull out the battery and put it in again. Then I try to boot again. Doesn't work.
So I plug in the charger, and it boots, but the question mark is still there.
Same thing.
Then I try to get into 2nd init, works fine. I can access everything, save for stock recovery, which, when I select, just leaves me on red Motorola Logo.
I tried to do factory reset, but leaves me on question mark.
The other thing is, there is an option in 2nd Init called 2nd Boot. I tried booting with this and it presents me with a screwed up version of CM9. I get the boot logo for ages - like its starting up for the first time, and then always the android intro. Wifi doesnt work, neither does cell reception.
When I unplug charger, dies.
When I start again, all data wiped and same intro screen again.
This problem is also here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1537083
Noone really helped, so hopefully I get some help here!
Thanks
Hello everyone and me.
So i've been working on my problem for ages now.
One thing that seems to have made it better is that I found out its the fact that the battery is flat - you will get battery is low cannot program in bootloader.
The fix is to get someone elses battery or charge yours somehow - i'm gonna avoid playing mcgyver, for the sole reason that if you plug it into you computer, it will trickle charge. This won't happen with anything else.
SO
-Plug into computer
-White LED will go
-Phone wont show anything
-Leave for ages
-Then press on, and it will burst into life, hopefully enough time to sort out boot, and then plug into mains charger
-HASNT WORKED FOR ME COMPLETELY YET
must..be..patient..
You might have installed the defy+ version with GB kernel, for which you need Battery fix to be flashed, after this every thing should be normal, once I did the same thing when I first tried CM9, i observed that battery is not updating at all, and all of sudden phone is dead and when I plugged the charger, theres a just question mark.
I just kept the phone for charging, but hardly it went up for about 5%, then i restored my old nandroid backup. So the phone booted up correctly, after that i installed CM9 and then battery fix, then after its working flawlessly.
This is a link to battery fix of Auris.

THANKS!
Awesome!
Thanks so much, its great to have helpful people on this site.
This is exactly what i've done, didn't know about battery.
I'll try it now!
You can as well install walter79 kernel 4.5.2-109_DHT-22 for better battery. I installed it and runnng fine with good battery life.
You can see how CM9 kernel is performing for 1 or 2 days, then you can flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=804956&d=1323018232 this kernel and see. You dont need to install battery patch with walter79 kernel. Enjoy!
Hi all,
I'm having a little problem. My phone is not recognizing my battery.
He always shows a charge, but not out of it. For example, in the morning when I put the battery recharged he scores 100% and stays that way until the end of the day. For me to see the percentage of the battery, I have to access the bootmenu ICS, there I can see the correct percentage. When I put to reload it shows as if reloading, but does not change the percentage.
When I put to charge with the system off, it appears a big battery with a interrogation (?)
And when I plug it in USB pc, while it is off white light that lights up as if you were carrying.
I was using the phone and he went out in my hand. When he called again presented this problem.
Does anyone know what can be?
I'm using ICS 14/05/2012 Epsylon3 version - Motorola Defy
I've tried installing the Eclair, Froyo and Gingerbread, even swapped SBFS and the problem continued.
Sorry for the english.
Thank you.
Try flashing the battery fix

Questions go in the Q&A section
Hi,
at the moment I am on holiday in Spain and my Defy [Green Lens CM9 Build 0613 (I think)] has broken, my battery died and i plugged it in to recharge but I got no LED, I know the charger works as it works for my mums phone and it has worked in the past for my Defy, i have plugged it in to macbook and got white LED after 1 minute but it doesn't charge, phone doesn't turn on either, my power button is really stiff (ebay purchase) and I cannot get it to turn on, do i need a battery ficx for CM9 if so, where to get it. Will I need to boot McGuyver to get into CWM and flash it? or is my Defy bricked? I'm only 13 so I don't really want to buy a new phone as I got it for my Birhtday only 4 months ago (my dad will be annoyed) so will anyone help, I'm an experienced 'computerer' and I could flash an SBF if I have to but that will be really annoying.
Thanks,
Will

Thanks for the reply,
But I cannot get my phone to power on at all, I thought to flash SBF I had to get into the RSD mode (whatever its called) by holding up vol and power, but it doesn't turn on. Also if I can manage it, do you know what the best SBF to flash would be (green lens DEFY, originally from T-Mobile (soft unlocked))
Thanks
Will
Right, so I have got home from my Holiday and when I got in I plugged my phone in to the charger, it did not power on, but the LED flashed white constantly with 1-2 second delays between each flash . Does anyone know what this means, do you think my phone will be saveable, should I just plug it in to RSD lite and see if it detects it, not doing anything tomorrow so I can work on it all day to rescue it.
Cheers,
Will
Made a recap Here.
Hope it helps.
For an sbf, chose a deblur (less setup time to go to a custom rom).

I'm in the sa me situation . Anti news????
I had my defy look like a complete brick: Neither the screen nor LED would come on. The thing looked as bricked as it can. But I started it with power button + vol up, (no indication from the device what so ever that it came on). hooked it up to the computer and RSDlite was able to find it. then I was able to flash a different SBF.
hope it helps.
So, do you mean to ignore the blank screen???

Hello, I had a strange problem with my Defy. I left it charging overnight, and I think that battery charging led was light up as normal. This morning, I pressed the power button, and then phone rebooted suddenly. When booted up it would not connect to the mobile network. Checking the phone's status, battery status and information related to the cellular network were both "unknown" .
I tried to restart it a few times but no improvement, indeed it got even worse.
After a while the phone begam to reboot by itself just seconds after the appearance of the home screen (in the meantime also wallpaper was gone).
I thought it was a battery problem, so I reconnected to the power supply but nothing .. same reboots after a few seconds.
I tried then to reboot into recovery and I flashed again CM10 (Quarx's 20130110) and fortunately the first reboot showed the usual charging of the battery which actually started charging from 0%. I loaded and now seems to work properly.
I had another problems a week ago... the phone didn't charge at all during night, but without reboots like today, but plugging the usb cable either to the power supply or to a computer didn't anything to the phone.
I wonder, it's just a battery problem? Or was it a problem with the rom or even worse the phone?
It would be useful to flash an sbf?
thanks
Problem with Rom I think, flash a previous version or you can flash any sbf. It is not a phone problem

Hello XDA Users,
Sorry for my poor English before...
I bought a Defy mb525 2 days ago,
it have been installed with JB 4.2.1 Custom Rom, then I updated it to KK Slim Kat Rom,
Everything was normal and great.
But I have the problem right now after I soaked it into the fresh water (dumb) :silly:
after that, its still worked like a charm, but when the battery run out of power, I charged it, unfortunately it wont charged the battery, even I tried to pulled in and pulled it back the battery.
Then I connected it to wall charger, but my Defy stand still on 4% (in off condition). I charged it all night long but still, on 4% capacity.
when I Pulled out the cable, my Defy turned off, it Wont turned on after I pressed the power button.
but when I plugged it back, then I pressed the power button, it let me to entering the system and goes into the lockscreen, after I input the first pin, the phone turned off again.
I dont know what I must supposed to do because my defy is out of power, I cant go into the bootloader or recovery to flash it over because of this... :crying:
Please help me out, I love this phone :crying:
Thanks XDA
