[Q] Ram Status 526mb/766mb ?? - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

Samsung 7.7 only a few days old with a few apps downloaded.
When checking Task Manager, under Ram Manager, my ram status shows 526mb/766mb.
This is with zero Active applications running.
Is HoneyComb using the majority of the 526mb?
Wheres the rest of my ram to total 1gb RAM?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry searched more and found it.

I'm guessing it is just an inaccurate reading and the operating system does not run ~500mb by itself since iPad2's only has 500mb ram and it is still functional.

newbie - RAM on Titan?

Hey, I've been encountering some issues with RAM on my Titan. it's probably some sort of misunderstanding on my part. Usually I have about 16MB free with nothing running. The Titan has 64MB RAM. When I look at processes, they should only be using about 11MB total. I don't understand what's going on here; where is this extra 36MB going? I'm using the No2Chem ROM.
Without getting into too much detail, there are other processes running as well that aren't listed in the Task Manager. Think of the basic task manager as the "Applications" tab on your normal Windows task manager; it shows programs that are running. While that may be empty - if you were to click on the "Processes" tab, you might find 30 different processes still running.
There ARE other memory manager apps you can find which will give you the detail on all the processes, just do a search for memory managers.
And - if it makes you feel any better, 16mb is about average as far as your memory goes. I have a few things running on mine, and get 8-10mb free - if I'm lucky...memory is the biggest drawback on this device, but not a total deal breaker for me. Its manageable.

CPU shows 77% when nothing is running!!

I am using a standard UK T-mobile 6.5. I have nothing running on the phone, all apps have been closed, but when you click the top right-hand corner, the CPu shows its running at 77%!!
Does this mean that there is something keeping the processor busy or is 6.5 ineffiecient..or both maybe?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
use cleanRAM which is from the best free application for HTC devices
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=514333
It's not the CPU usage, it's RAM used.
You say nothing is running, but the nature of the beast is that normally there are applications running in the background, Outlook, light & G sensor, the GSM/3G radio, if you use the CleanRam application and looking into the Running processes there is always something running there.
I'm never too worried with CPU or memory usage as long as the device runs fine, I don't care! ...and if it slows down, I just reset (off & on) once in a while (also use cleanRam)
Ram is also ate up by cache that HTC sets. Having lots of apps precached means faster loading of those apps.
If you care about the amount of free memory... then flash a custom rom. The later Official WM6.5 HTC roms are killer.
and remember that unused ram is wasted ram. So what are you going to do with more free ram? It would be there for nothing.

That's all very well, but if the RAM cannot be freed it's a problem when you want to run a program that needs more. I used to be able to run iGO8 navigation software with text-to-speech voices with the stock HTC 6.1 ROM (as long as I did a RAM clean up before starting it - to get RAM usage down to under 55%). Now, with the HTC 6.5 ROM I cannot get the RAM usage down low enough for TTS to work. It's a memory hog.
Anyone got any ideas (with the stock ROM - it's a corporate phone I should not re-flash)?

Thanks for all the responses. I guess is nothig to worry about then.

[Q] Not showing 1GB of memory?

Hey there team,
Checking Settings - Applications - Running services
Is only showing 211MB used, 316MB free which gives a total of 526MB
However in device information it says 1GB.
Is anyone able to confirm on their Acer what the total memory is showing under running services?
Cheers

I have the same not too sure there must be 1gb as 1. its advertised as 1gb and two its not 512mb as it would report that or a little less. maybe honeycomb isn't optimized to see 1 gb just yet?
I didn't look real close, bit when I was viewing dmesg output after boot I could see a line near the top that showed the 1GB (and two numbers that added up to 1GB). I believe that RAM is reserved for video on start up.
1gb ram
Just check in system_device info and it shows 1gb of ram
Great news!
I was hoping I didn't have a bad ram module or something

Total RAM of this machine is 1G
Free ram will be 768MB, because 256MB is used for the dalvik-cache, you can see from the build.prop
Out from the 768MB, I think 2XXMB is used for video? Which makes the total available to applications is around 5XX MB. Please comment.

RAM issue - always around 3 Giga

When i tap the Close All Tabs button i always see around 3 Giga ram is available out of 6 Giga ram.
After i Close all Tabs it shows like 3.6~4 Giga ram but never it is Fully 6 or even 5.
Does anyone else have this issue? Is this legit or a problem with my phone?
Have you seen your computer's going to 0-10% utilization? That's because the OS and other background services are always running and they require RAM. My phone frees around 3.2GB when I clear all apps, and that's very good compared to Samsung which is always utilizing 70-75% of RAM.
Just as a addition:
Android (Linux) kernel does not treat RAM as you are used to in windows.
Windows is freeing the RAM a while after an application was stopped. Linux afaik does not free any RAM when closing an application. Only when a new application need more memory it will get space from closed apps.
The of closing apps in Android is just a feature implemented because people where complaining about memory consumption in Android even when apps were closed.

Best ROM for performance/overclocking/gamedev?

Hi all,
I am using a T350 to test some game builds on and I am getting low frame rates because it is a few years old now
Which ROM is the most "stripped/bloatfree" version which I could use to do my tests on, And can you recommend any which have overclocking functions, and if so, what kind of stable settings have been found to work on a T350.
Thanks!
The main problem seems to be the lack of RAM, As it has 1.5GB but using JazzROM, The system uses almost 1gb of memory alone. How can I free up memory space from system processes ?
Honestly there isn't a whole lot you can do, you could maybe free up a few more MB if you go into system processes and kill some random stuff. But you're already on a custom ROM so there won't be much if anything to kill.

JazzROM is stock base ROM, that's why, it is NOT really slimmed down version. What you can do is, you can use root explorer and go to System --> Apps, and delete some apps (make sure these apps can be downloadable from either Galaxy App Store or Google Play Store)
Ok thanks guys. I set "do not run background processes" and deleted some system apps, I can get about 800mb of free memory. One other thing I wanted to ask is that when I press the power button on the device to put it in standby mode, It goes to a lock/clock screen and doesnt turn the display off using JazzROM, Any ideas?
