Unable to share Internet from my laptop to GT5801

Hi all,
Can anyone please help me share my internet connection from my laptop to my Samsung Galaxy3 running Android 2.2?
I tried Connectify, Virtual Router and mHotspot but none of them work.
In case of mHotspot, I watched video on You Tube and done the same but I am not able to connect to that wi-fi network although I am able to find it by turning on my android mobile's wi-fi..
In case of Connectify and Virtual Router, I am not able to find Wireless Network on my android device. Can anyone please help?
Please let me know if any other information is required.

Thanks Bane, can you please let me know, how to Flash the mod via CWM?
Also, do you know if CWM supports SG3 as I am also trying to flash my phone to install custom ROM but not able to do so via CWM?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858583
please use search
In the thread that you have provided, please let me know where to look for "how to Flash the mod via CWM"
when I downloaded mod file, it asks me which application to open the file in. I selected ROM Manager, then it reboots in recovery mode...there I have four options
Reboot system now
Install sdcard: update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
which one I need to select?
I strongly advice to spend some time here in the forum and read all the FAQs and tutorials, as they will explain everything you need to know.
as the file is called wpa_adhoc-signed.zip you need to select an option that allows you to install a .zip or you need to rename the file to update.zip and select the option to install update.zip
Bane, I searched first and then asked but I am too noob to understand all this. I renamed the file to update.zip and then reboot to recovery mode. It still says the same:
Finding update package...
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk() (or NULL)
(No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation Aborted
You need cwm, flash a kernel that already has it(cf-root/g3mod/simplicity) or pm mumbozver for the installer
Or you can also manually copy the files although the first method will be easier

Thanks cdesai for the reply. I am using cwm and using this only, I am rebooting my phone in recovery mode. Does "flashing a kernel that already has this solution" means that I should flash my phone with a custom ROM that already has this solution implemented?
Ok
keep the adhoc file on your sd card
reboot into cwm
(use volume buttons to navigate, home to select)
choose apply zip from sd card
select the adhoc zip file
click on yes
it should work, if not then yes you can flash place the file by root explorer or flash a custom rom that already has it implemented
to manually apply the file
open the adhoc zip
open system folder
open bin folder
extract the file wpa_supplicant and keep just the file on ur sd
open root explorer and copy the file to /system/bin (replace the old one, take a backup of it - or rename it)
Are you referring to wpa_supplicant by adhoc file?
I cannot copy the extracted file to /system/bin folder as going to that folder is graying out paste option
If I try to apply it by rebooting into recovery mode, it is giving error message:
It is getting failed with the following message:
Finding update package...
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk() (or NULL)
(No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation Aborted
Note: I have renamed the file to update.zip and placed it in root of sdcard before rebooting it into recovery mode. Even then, I am getting this error message.
Please help me in proceeding further.

as far as i remember, CWM will be removed each time you restart your phone, unles you have a custom kernel/rom.
but its been long time ago when i did that x3
If stock there is a file that needs to be removed or renamed,

No. You merely need to rename / remove the install-recovery.sh script in /etc to prevent the stock recovery from writing at boot.

Yeah, restoring the file will then cause the stock recovery to be written upon reboot (if you want to go back to the stock recovery for some reason).

open it and touch flash clockworkmod recovery(first item)
select reboot into recovery manual
mount and storage select
mount USB storage

'' super user.zip'' flash
reboot
es file explorer select setting mark root explorer and mount file system after
select phone in file explorer find etc folder select and find ''install-recovery.sh'' file and rename file for example ''install-recovery.sheski'' and
open rom manager again touch flash clockworkmod recovery(first item)

I have U8800 Pro version, I have managed to root it using SuperOneClickv2.2. On Windows 7 you must run it using "Run as administrator", otherwise it won't work! Then I have installed free version of Rom manager from Market and flashed recovery console 5.0.2.6. How can I flash 5.0.2.7 (where can I get it)? Rom manager from Market only contains version 5.0.2.6.
I have downloaded MIUI from first post, renamed it to update.zip. I have copied that file to the root of the internal sd card (the one that is build into the phone and can't be removed) and on external sd card. But I'm keep getting message:
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Any help is appreciated. I really want MIUI on my phone!
And the last question. Is there any better recovery console for U8800 Pro? RC on my HTC Hero was way better
Geno, Many thanks! Can You also apply Multilang for this ROM like You did for U8800?

Sorry for beeing nob, but I can't find "/cust_backup/image" directory. Should I create it on the root "/" if I don't have one?
In CWM advanced>reboot recovery and your phone will recognize sd card.

Put zip in the root of your external sd card and do what I wrote before.

I have finally managed to install MIUI on my U8800 Pro phone. But I have one BIG problem.
My phone shuts down every time when screen locks. If I press power button once, it shuts down instead of locking the device.
Did someone else experienced the same problem?
I'm forced to go back to stock ROM, because phone is unusable in current state.
Procedure I followed is described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369453
i want to go back too but how you do it??
thanks
I simply did restore from recovery console. You did backup before flashing new ROM?

A200 cwm can't mount /cache

Need the help of the greater minds here at xda on this.
A200 - unlocked bootloader - cwm (various flavors)
If booting CWM via vol-down / power, then everything is usually fine, sometimes I'll get the error described below, but rebooting again will clear it. and as long as this is the only way i boot into CWM, it's fine. dmesg shows a line showing that /cache mounts successfully.
If i do a "reboot recovery" from adb or terminal emulator (or even from Advanced->Reboot Recovery" from within cwm), then I get the /cache errors below. Happens everytime. But I can connect to it via adb while in cwm and do "mount /cache" and it mounts fine. Can't find any reference to cache being mounted in the dmesg log. It like it just not being mounted before recovery tries to access it.
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
The same recovery images works perfect on the A500 with the patched ics bootloader. I've tested with 3 versions of cwm. 1) cwm by hbwelch 2) thor1.7 repacked with the kernel from a200 ics stock recovery 3) modified a200 ics stock recovery with the /sbin/recovery file from thor1.7 image.
Any ideas why /cache doesn't mount when booting recovery w/o using the hardware keys?
Thanks
Figured it out. Recovery was starting before the block devices were created. Added a small delay and its working perfect.

He added the delay to his program, there's nothing you need to do.
I added the delay in the unit.rc script in the thor 1.7 recovery thread I repacked for the a200. That's the one that is included in my app. if you use that one, you will not get the cache errors.

ClockWorkMod and Cyano with Rom Manager?

I have a GTab2 10.1, rooted with Odin.
After rooted, I opened Rom Manager, and see the Icon ClockworkMod: tapped, and oh, Rom Manager Installed versione 6.0.1.1
Then I see CyanogenMod icon, 9 and 10. I checked both, started download, Gtab rebooted but installation was aborted with an error
E:Can't open /sdcard/ clockworkmod /download/get.cm/get/jenkins/7108/cm-9.1.0-p5110.zip

Installation aborted.
Continued manually, and the file WAS there, in the propher path.
Tryed to flash it, but another error

1.
Have you tried to install the CM file from CWM Recovery.
I think it could be a compatibility-issue between Galaxy Tab 2 and ROM Manager.
Had the same problem as you,but it worked through CWM Recovery.
2.
You could try moving the CM file to the external memory and try flashing it from there to see if the problem persists.
Maybe it's because CWM Recovery is unable to flash the file from internal memory.
INSTRUCTIONS
First time installing CyanogenMod 9/10 to your Galaxy Tab 2, or coming from another ROM:
- Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
- Copy GApps and CM9/10 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9/10 zip from internal SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from internal SDCard
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET
- Reboot
- Don't restore Apps using Titanium Backup!
Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9/10:
- Copy CM9/10 ZIP to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9/10 zip from internal SDCard
- Reboot
Click to collapse
Do it like that and you will never have any problems, Download from the threads provided. Follow the instructions to the letter and you cant go wrong. If you are not sure of anything ASK first and someone will help you out.
