The SD card mounts in mnt/sdcard
external sdcard in mnt/sdcard/extstorages/sdcard - can this one be renamed to mnt/sdcard2 ???
As I have music and stuff on my external sdcard this path is stupid !
It does not work with Sandisk backup tool either as it is just linked in a folder.
Anyone know how to??

The vibrant ( ansd also the I9000 ) has an internal SD Card. This card is mounted as /sdcard; the external SD card is mounted under / sdcard/sd.
Now;some Application can configured, that they store the information on the external SdCard, but on this phone it is the internal.
Does someone has an idea, how to add a line into the fstab, so that the external Sdcard will be mounted also under /sd ? Pls keep in mind, the fstab is in the flash and can not easy overwritten with an editor...
Maybe it is possible to add somewhere ${HOME}/rc.d with a ln command, so that the /sdcard/sd is also responsable as /sd ?
Good, I have the latest version of the MIUI (2.1.13) and CWM 4.0.0.5 and I can not mount the external SD in CWM (this only reads/mounts internal).
I'll try to explain what is wrong with me ...
With external storage in x5 settings:
- CWM gives error when you mount the external sd.
- CWM just read the sdcard or internal sdcard.
- In the root explorer in the sd-ext has nothing.
- in the root explorer the sdcard folder has my files of the external card (strange I think).
- Connected to the PC can see both cards as the external is drive H: andinternal as drive I:
With internal storage x5 settings:
- CWM gives error when you mount the external sd.
- CWM just read the card or internal sdcard.
- In the root explorer in the sd-ext has nothing.
- In the root explorer in sdcard folder has the default rom files.
- I can not see the external sd root anywhere in explorer.
- Connected to the PC can see both cards as the external drive I: and internal as drive H: (exchange units in relation to external storage - WEIRD!)
I've tried to put my phone with al factory settings (TMN original ROM (portugal) and pink screeen files) then root and install all CWM recovery's but with everyone of them i can not mount or install (read) from my external sd in the recovery...
What worries me most is that I can only install Roms from the internal sd, so if one day can not make it boot the phone I'm F *****...
Someone can help me solve this?
now when i connect to pc i see my sdcard as a cd drive...i can see the files but i can't change anything what is going on?
On project menu, which appears with #*#*2846975*#*# on official 2.3(doesn' t work on miui AFAIK) there is a menu related to sd card. I've read before some time that someone fix this CD kind mount problem from there. I think that the enabled option is GOOGLE. If not, change it to that, reboot and see if the problem solved. Otherwise try the other options.
2nd problem solved...thanks!
What about my problem about recovery and external sd?
Try to check the card from pc, and maybe backup and refromat it to fat32.
SOLVED!!!!
Good news!
Can you post how, so the solution be available for others with same problem?

Hi sorry but i have a question, why is my external sd card is recognised as internal storage(first pic) also and i do not have any option to unmount it.(second pic)
Also i have my files on my external sd card in the file 'sdcard' on my phone however i also have a file called sd_ext(empty) which i presume is the external sd card. Therefore, is it normal to have it like that? and how to i know which is my internal and external respectively. Thanks for the help in advance.
i can view all the files and they are recognised by my phone but i just want to know if there is a fix for this.

this must be a systems bug. It´s the same to me and all others. You can ignore that.
also and i do not have any option to unmount it.(second pic)
you can unmount your sd card in the phone settings (it must be settings/storage/SD Card unmount)

Try to use another root file explorer (for ex.: https ://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&hl=de )

First of all: you don´t have to use another phone for making screenshots. Just press Power for 2 Sec. and choose Screenshot. (You have to activate this first in the phone settings.)
hi thanks for replying but i already have es file explorer but i am still confused as i don't know which is my internal or external i a file under mnt call sdcard and it stores everything(it contains files on my sdcard but i am not sure wether all of them belong to the external adcard) while the sd-ext is empty but under storage it says that 1.53 of 1.8gb is occupied.
Also for the part to mount or unmount the sdcard i donot have the option as shown in the second pic.i went the the correct directory as you said
I don´t know if this has been posted here,
it does work on my N7105 stock rom, rootet with perseus kernel.
External SD card is mounted in / mnt / exdSdCard and for any file manager this is visible but the apps do not see the SD card
install ICS SD Binder vom Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.qbanin.binder
install the app open it
original mountpoint: / mnt / extSdCard
new mountpoint: select external_sd
check in SD Bind to the new mountpoint and unmount original mountpoint
Save & Reboot
leave the folder as mentioned above no changes... believe me ;o)
Not a bug, but who cares, that by this ICS SD workaround leaves only the internal memory displayed on the PC
You can still get your data lby going to the subfolder 'external_sd'
I hope this helped you.

So with this method am I able to transfer applications to sd card?

I have a SD card installed in my i9500. As you know, i9500 has 16GB built-in RAM, and I found that /sdcard (also /mnt/sdcard) is mounted to internal storage(seems /storage/sdcard0), external SD card is located in /storage/extSdCard ( /mnt/sdcard mounted to here). But some old apps don't support customizing download destination, and most downloaded files went to the internal storage. Also there's some game saves in external SD, but they won't be detected. How I can fix that?
ps: Sorry for my bad English:silly:
