Hi,
I'm fairly new to WP7 and I have had my Surround for a while, but switched to android, and now I'm deciding to switch back to WP7.
I have heard of touchxperience and on their website it says that it works on the surround.
I went here: http://forum.touchxperience.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=783
and don't really understand what the steps are to get touchxperience.
It says you need an unlocked phone, so how do I do that?
What else do I need to do before getting touchxperience?
Thanks for the help!
I was really happy with my wp7 but never used touchexplorer.... There are a lot of new things and posibilities that you will enjoy.
First read a lot in the forum, install a good custom rom [Ansars, DFT V4 or intrinsic] i'm pretty sure with dft rom you can install apps from ie explorer, intrinsic v1 no but people are still wating for v2 and about the ansar rom no information never got the opportunity to try it.
Good luck
I have heard of unlocking a WP7. How do I do that?
Will Chevron WP7 work on Mango?

There is no chevron now.
The best option is to install nodo default rom, check SPL is downgraded to DFT HSPL compatible version, install it and put a custom ROM that is full unlocked.
By the way if you are on mango and do not want to downgrade to install hspl there is a topic about how to install hspl from intrinsic rom author.

Looked high and low and can't find a straight answer for this:
With a stock T-Mobile USA HTC HD2, do I have to install HSPL in order to run an Android build off of SD? No interest in flashing NAND to different/custom winmo build or anything. All of the FAQs and whatnot instruct installing HSPL but those are geared for ROM replacement which is why it is obviously necessitated in those cases.
So can I just update to the latest official winmo from T-Mobile's USA site (3.14) in order to get updated radio and all that and simply run Android off SD? Or am I going to have to deal with the HSPL stuff regardless? (Trying to keep warranty intact)

Yes, you do need to update HSPL to run any custom rom (that you'll need run anyway for Android to run off your SD card). The good thing is that you can go back to factory if you need to send your phone in. Some rom's do not require you to change your radio. The one I'm running did not, that is why I'm running it. The version of Android I'm running also did not require an updated radio. HTH.
Wait gnet you didn't answer his question. The answer is no - you don't have to install HSPL in order to run Andriod off your sd - only (as gnet pointed out) if you want to install custom ROMs.
Friends you are making it more confusing.
Simple QUESTION- Does one need to Use HSPL for Running Android. Or more simplier Can one run Android without CustomROM.
Hope the answer to above will solve the query.
ok?
My educated guess is that STOCK rom should be fine since the kernal shuts down windows when booting through haret?
So... I got my T-mobile HD2 last summer. and well, I've been living in a cave so i didn't know how amazing this phone can be.
I have the original rom and ran a official update to 3.14
Here are my few questions:
1) Is there anything I'll have to do differently to Flash WP7 if this is a T-MO HD2.
2) I've heard there's something about the radio. what exactly I'll have to do?
3) I looked at many tutorial videos and guides on youtube and Im getting confused. where should I start? HSPL and all those stuffs.
thanks for reading, If i posted at a wrong section please move me

1. There is nothing diffrent at all . all you do is this
-Hard SPL your phone
-Flash MAGLDR 1.12 or newer
-Flash WP7
2. At the time of me flashing WP7 I was also running WinMo 6.5 with the latest update 3.14. As far as I can tell the radio included in that update works flawlessly with WP7.
3. Like I said the process has been made very easy. Just google "HSPL3 for HD2"
and download both files found in the WP7 ROM post by DFT. That is all you need to upgrade.
Nevermind, got it! =]
Hey guys, I got a second hand HD2 from ebay, so far i;ve been using it with android running from the SD but now i'e decidedto give wp7 a try.
the device came with MAGLDR 11.13 & WP7 7.0.7004.0 pre installed. I'm not sure which actual ROM it is.
I;ve read all the guides on updating to a newer ROM from the dev section of this forum, but im worried about nricking the device.
when I plug my phone into the Zune application to sync music, it offers me an update. I tried this update but it failed, is there any way I can update easily through Zune? or do I need to reflash a ROm such as this one.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1157535
Also, in my current situation, is it as simple as downloading the ROM & running the EXE with the phone plugged in?
I wnt a later version formnumerous reasons, mainly the lackofmauto focus in the camera z- allphotos are blurry!
SOrry for being captian n00bing, im just startiong out with WP7!
Hi,
It's not possible to update your HD2 WP7 with Zune. It's only for official WP devices.
To flash new WP rom, I advice you to begin with a Task29 (clean the phone), flash radio (2.15.... recommended), flash MAGLDR 1.13, and flash the WP rom you want.
Good luck

Thanks for the reply mate.
Task29 clears the NAND if im correct, will that remove MAGLDR too? So I'll have to reflash MAGLDR 1.13?
Can anybody provide me with a n00by-friendly link to a guide on this? The phone came with MAGLDR 1.13 so i;ve no experience with WP7! I'm an Android man!
Could you also recommend a stable day-to-day ROM? I'm not bothered about Mango (unless theres a super-stable version) so anything NoDo would be fantastic.

in some cases task29 has created some issues with Wp on the HD2
just boot in to MAGLDR, go to USB flash, connect it to your PC and then run the exe from the ROM of your choice, i would strongly recomend staying with Yukis ROM, if you have issues with it then consider SD Card flashing a stock WM ROM and starting again. HSPL>RADIO>MAGLDR>WP7
The SD card is the problem, if you get one that works, you'll be fine, there is NO compatible list of SD card!
Hey guys! Sorry to ask this question for the millionth time, but which custom WP7 rom do you guys prefer to use?
I'm currently on HD2O 7720 and i plan on updating to 7740, but can't decide which one.
The battery life, bugs/glitches, function, etc. all play into which rom works out for me. i don't care about the games or the little stuff; just the rom that can maintain perfect function without crashing.
thanks again!

Yuki ROM lock cards and dont have many other options...
best ROM (especially if you want play XBL games ) is Pdaimatejam Rom
I'm using XBMod/Yuki updatable rom and I find it brilliant, much less hassle than the others as it behaves like a normal windows phone 7 device. I also have no issues playing XBL games

and Rise of Glory to?
i was also thinking about updating using PDAamiatejam's rom. everyone says great things about it.
I can play XBL games fine with HD2O. I can't say it plays the newer games well because i don't have recent games, but with the games i do have, it's smooth and acts like a normal WP7.
I also read a lot of good things about Yuki's, but i don't want to go through the hassle of a locked SD card knowing i may update or flash a different rom in the future.
and thanks for your input guys. much appreciated!
Hi guys!
Using this same topic to my question to don't opening other, o have HD2O 7720 too, and it's simple to update to a new 7740 rom like PDAamiatejam's rom? I need to change radio, etc?
Thanks!
Xbox Yuki room here
Just a heads up, They dont tend to like "best ROM" threads on here, Too Subjective and hurts peoples feelings
Why, Xbox/Yuki?
Simple, ive not flashed a ROM since the initial V2 release several months ago,
everything works, any im already Running the lastest Build 8107, not sure what people are saying about XB Live games, they work fine.
SD card lock is a good thing, someone steals my phone, theres no way of opening my data, if card is unlocked (or locked with no password) then its possible to gain access to the contents.
I think overall, you have Choice with Cab updatable ROMs, its a bit more hassle setting up, but once your done, your done, there has just been a ROM update there, im not going to do that, but i can still update to 8107, again, choice is king, oh an stability is perfect, but only if you have a compatible SD card, id assume thats the same for the other ROMs.
All latest WP7 roms are the same.
Either you want to use one that you can configure your own way without cooking it.
So you can use the Yuki XBmod and once it's flashed once, you can customize it your own way with XBmod cabs. Also you can keep upgrading it via zune or cab and without having to flash the device. The drawback is that is tough to get it working properly with high speed class.
Either you want to configure it your own way cooking it, and then you get pretty clear informations from Yuki to do so.
Either you don't want to configure anything and then you can use any other preconfigured rom but they are quite the same, so depending on your taste you might like one more than an other. The drawback is that if you want to upgrade the WP7 OS, you will have to keep flashing your device and re-install everything each time you will flash your device.
Also if you plan to use android together with WP7 than the Yuki XBmod rom is the best since you can use XBmod cab to specify the size of the android partition you want to use.
Pdaimatejam
But guys, do your HD2 sometimes get warm???
It does if I use WiFi a lot, otherwise its fine

I'm brand new to this, but i want to unlock my windows phone so i can put custom apps and themes and so on on it. I'm currently running the latest update and running the mango build, i was wondering, how do i unlock my phone, i've been searching and searching and i think i may have to downgrade my phone, i'd like help with this however incase i do anything wrong or if i use the wrong programmes to do this. Help would be appreciated.
You have to flash this thing called HSPL to your Trophy. The instructions are all here!
The HSPL allows custom roms on your device, but it doesn't unlock it. After you flash HSPL, you then have to install a custom rom that comes with an unlock (most roms do). Good luck!
