[Q] Install Cyanogenmod on Defy with Defy+ sbf - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed my Defy with a Defy+ sbf because I bricked it.
The sbf is :
DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-139_BLUR_SIGN_SIGNED_USADEFYEMARAB1B8RTFR004.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRRTFR_P019_A022_M002_HWp3_WIG148201_Service1FF
Now I have a few problems like I can't phone without activate the speaker, which can be pretty uncomfortable, and I can't download apps without Wifi.
So I want to install a custom ROM and I'm wondering if it's better to install Cyanogenmod in its Defy+ version than the Defy one.
Thanks.

In the list of ROM and Firms, you have one good notice, an user post the CM 7.2 for Defy Plus MB526.. or you can try install the WhitteRabbit..
Sorry for my bad English..xD
Good Look!

I prefer the defy froyo kernel builds and you might agree. It sounds like you may have a green lens defy. If so, you will want normal defy built rooms if you are choosing cm9. The camera only works with corresponding build depending on your type of camera. Hope that helps.

[Q] CM9 from CM7

Hello, currently I got CM7.1, Android 2.3.7,
I didnt understand if I need to install Defy Froyo kernel or Defy+/Defy GB Kernel
surely you must install kernel froyo CM9, GB versions for defy+ are for those roms with installed gb kernel or are unable to downgrade

Gb kernel works for red lenses defys,
From cm7 to 9 wipe data and just install zip, change kernel if you want, there's plenty of tutorials on here
FYI This is dev thread and a double post next time use general or Q&A
teamwork makes the dream work

Since u r using CM 7.1 u r on Froyo Kernel Already .. So just select Froyo based builds of Quarx and Flash them without flashing any kernel...if ur's is a red lens defy then u can try GB buils also but right now GB builds are not perfect as Froyo builds...

[Q] best sbf for ms2ginger

Hi guys!!
i need your knowledge one more time
i want to install ms2ginger 4 beta on my defy+, and i'm wondering which sbf i should flash before ms2ginger!
would ms2ginger have some difference based on a different sbf?
i've changed lots of roms and i think maybe i would be better to restore the phone to a clean sbf before flashing ms2ginger!
actually i'm on cm 7.2 and i flashed before this sbf:
DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-132_BLUR_SIGN_SIGNED_USADEFYEMARAB1B8RTDE004.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRRTDACH_P018_A019_M002_HWp3_WIG148149_Service1FF.sbf
is it ok or i can use a "better" one??
thanks a lot!!!
ciao
+1
But i use the common defy red lens

[Q] Defy Jellybean CM10 Help!

*Don't respond with comments saying read this or that...
I have read the guides for moto defy mb525 U.S. tmobile and yet i don't understand a thing. I have a bionic and have rooted/flashed/sbf'd before so I have experience but not with this device. I tried understanding from the wiki and beginners guide yet it didn't help me at all. (I'm dumb)
MY Goal: Jellybean CM10 on my Defy
I am currently on froyo 2.2 and I don't understand how to get CM10
I have an original tmobile u.s. defy (Im pretty sure its green lens)
If someone can provide links I can learn:
What should I SBF to?
What should I use to root?
How do I flash cm9 kernel (I heard its the only way to get the CM10 working on a tmobile mb525)
Once I get a recovery I know how to flash and stuff I just want to be guided until I get to clockwork recovery and have the cm9 kernel flashed.
Please help, don't flame....its what makes this community great
Root it with SuperOneClick 1.9 for Defy! it should be somewhere on xda I dont know where use the search function...
Install 2nd INIT it should add cwm

Sorry Sir but its useless to flash CM10(current version) on MB525 coz its being made for MB526(Defy+). Your efforts will be in vein. Why not go for 4.0.4 by Eppy? Latest build is stable as hell!
I read that you can flash CM10 by quark on your green lens defy but of course camera won't work
I got soft reboots. And the current version can't make calls/text.
Go for CM9 its really getting into its groove now

Since you sound new to flashing roms, you shouldn't start off with an alpha rom you have to port, instead, start with an Epsy CM9 or Maniac103 CM7 -- both are stable and a good place to start learning about rom flashing.
***Before you start flashing sbf's, you should read the sbf thread and find an sbf you like that's on the same BL version you're currently on, or if out of warranty, flash a bl6 sbf so you can switch between the GB and Froyo kernels. I'm not going to go into BL versions anymore, but that's one of the most important things you need to learn when flashing Defy roms and sbfs.***
For rooting, I use SuperOneClick 1.9.5. Then just enable non-market apps and install Defy 2nd-Init Recovery, reboot into it, select wipe data\factory reset, then flash cm7 or 9 followed by the appropriate version of gapps. Those steps will soon become second nature, to the point where you can root and flash a custom rom in your sleep.
All the tools and roms can be found by searching the forums. Good Luck and welcome to the wonderful world of custom roms.

Need help!! Dont knw wat to flash. *Confused*

Before i gave it to service center, i had green lense and froyo kernel for sure and flashed CM7, CM9, Miui, Wiui, Popcorn, etc.
When they returned me the said we had to change motherboard, now it is of defy+ and the sbf tha they flashed is "4.5.1-134-DFP-1321 - retail-asia full Blur multilanguage(2.3.6)", So now can i install CM9-Defy+(Quarx) without any kind of problem, and do i need flash battery_fix from auris?
You don't need battery fix for Defy+ on Quarx's build.

Did the service people change the device to Defy+ entirely, like swap the phone? Replacing the motherboard does nothing except fix whatever problem you had, as the motherboard is the same. The camera and battery differentiate between green lense, red lense and defy+. Use this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116694 to see whether you have red lense of green lense now. Also, go into your settings and see whether it says MB525 or MB526, if you have MB525 find out whether red or green, if you have MB526 you can flash the quarx defy+ rom without any addons (no battery fix or kernel).
Hope this helped, give thanks!

they dint replaced the phone, just said "We have to replace motherboard and screen." but I guess I can flash quarx defy+ build because under setting it says mb526. As far as thing about lens is concerned I dint find any "cameracommon" or "jordancamera" kind of match in catlog.

Guys, I have one more question to ask, I think though it's defy+ sbf that the guy from service center has flashed, still when I install "home switcher" it says u have a froyo device. As much I knw about sbfs kernel is included in sbf itself. Then why so says it's a froyo device?
I m asking so many questions I knw, but I don't want any bootloops while flashing cm9.
I hate bootloops.

where to find the fix?

I'm not sure why home switcher says its froyo. Some of the earlier bl6 build behaved as froyo but that was 2.3.4 builds.
IMO your device is a defy+ now & gb ROMs should work flawless..
Also one more thing.. Is Your camera working fine??

Upgrading Defy+

Hi,
I am currently using Quarx's latest CM9 build on my Motorola Defy+. After using it for a couple of months I am thinking about upgrading it. I feel that the current CM9 build is stable enough for everyday use with decent battery life. Please advise on the best choice to take.
1. Update to the latest CM10 build by Quarx.
2. Update to the latest CM10.1 build by Quarx.
3. Keep CM9.
Also, I don't quite understand what 2nd-boot is. Could someone please explain it through an analogy in a way that even a n00b can understand.

Anyone?

More info on 2nd-boot you can find here
As you can probably see in CM10.1 thread, this ROM is not ready yet for daily use.
In the other hand CM10 is ready and used by many of us, thanks to great Quarx! My advice is to go for 22.12 release of this ROM.
Know that 2nd-boot (custom kernel) releases are working on all defy models.
After flashing a 2nd-boot release, front led will give a red light instead of green after boot image, meaning your device is booting through 2nd-boot. Make a nandroid backup, so you can always go back, if you don't like it
