Hi
This is my first post on this forum. I am using galaxy S for over an year now, and have been experiencing a very strange problem:
All Kind of music files and videos play fine on my phone. Using a headphone and with speakers. But when I assign any mp3 song file as a ringtone, there is a very disturbing noise comes along with the music, when my phone rings. I also experienced the same thing when I try to play any mp3 file by going to file browser and playing it directly from there (Not by browsing the file into mp3 player songs list).
Phone Hardware Information:
Firmware Version: 2.3.3
BaseBand: I9000DDJV5
BuildNumber: GINGERBREAD.DDJV9
Hi,
Can please anyone help me on this issue. Im also exploring whether Rooting the phone will solve this issue.
Thanks,
~Pankaj G
Don't know if it could help, but what about to try factory reset? If you will still get that noise maybe it will be HW speaker problem.
Hi.
So that problem you described has been present ever since you got your phone? Have you had the same OS version the whole time or have you tried any other roms out there? If that noise problem occures only in the case of using MP3 as a ringtone, it seems to me to be merely a software problem which might get fixed by trying a different rom (like Team ICSSGS's RC4.2).
I would also start by updating software.
If you have not rooted the phone yet, connect your phone to pc in Kies mode, start Kies and update to latest firmware.
If you have already rooted the phone and Kies doesnt recognize it, start reading this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881
Easy way:
Settings - Applications - Manage Applications - All - Media Storage
Press button "Clear data", exit settings and reboot phone.
Just can't see why rooting phone would remedy your problem.

Hi,
Thanks for your replies. To start with your queries, when I bought this phone, it was on Froyo, and there was no such problem. But then I updated to the current version i.e. Gingerbread 2.3.3 using Kies. When I updated initially there was no problem, but then after 2-3 days I started experiencing this problem.
And yes I tried to do a factory reset, but it didnt help. and the current version is the most recent version as per Kies.
Also, my phone is not rooted as of now and Im also willing to explore that option to solve this issue.
But the problem is that I have no idea about what exactly is the rooting of phone, what exactly is a ROM and what are the best ways of rooting and bricking the phone too. It will be very nice of you all, if I can be given a link to study about android OS and rooting methods.
Also, I am trying to record a video to show my phone's problem. Will share it as early as possible.
Thanks,
~Pankaj G
Did you try the method O-T suggested?

I have recently installed an application called AIO Security, included in a package with SRS WOW HD because I wanted to increase HD's sound volume.
Now I have annoying issues after this application was installed.
While browsing through music files I hear very weird noises. Also when I try to use zoom function, grey picture appears instead of zoomed image.
I tried to uninstall all applications I have installed. Neither soft and hard rest did help.
Any suggestion or solution how I can get my sweet HD2 in previous (original) condition?
Thank you guys!
I am sorry to hear this.
I presume if anyone could tell you what does this application do. What specific changes, you could probably restore them manually.
Just thinking laud, but I believe these guys here will help you!
Are you using a cooked rom? Flash a stock rom to see if it works.
I use original (Vodafone) ROM.
Can you be more specific lude?
I don't see how a hard reset wont solve your problem since the AIO security wasn't included in the stock vodafone rom...
Me neither. Do you have any possible solution?
Do you have HSPL? If you do, I'd probably flash another stock HTC rom and see if the problem went away.
Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505) and I'm having a couple problems with it.
First the phone freezes when its turned on it using Official software or a Touchwiz rom but doesn't happen with other Roms so I'm not very bothered about that.
Secondly there is no sound coming from the device, the only sound that comes off is the booting sound when using touchwiz, I've tryed with headphones and still nothing, and If I go to music and try to play a song the phone freezes until I press the home button, It also freezes when dialing or when any other sound should be coming of the device.
I've done a lot of factory resets and tried various roms but the problem stays.
And thirdly I have no signal on the device, when I put the sim card it just says no service, to be fair the sim card is a normal sim that has been cut to fit micro sim slot, becasue its what I use on my other phone and it works, I'll try with an actual micro sim when I have one available.
I don't know it these problems could be linked, that's why I'm putting them together. I have been searching online but I can't find anything similar.
Hope someone here can help me. Thanks a lot in advice!!
Can't get arorund this!
Ok, so I'm now looking at the sound problem now, seems like there is some people having this issue when the phone freezes when the phone should be playing sound.
I've looked at several threats here and for most people flashing I9505XXUDMH8_I9505OXXDMHA_I9505XXUDMH8_HOME.tar resolved the problem, so I tried it but still no sound.
So my I9505 is now on XXUDMH8, I rooted it again and installed a custom rom since the original firmware is not working very good.
Hope someone can help me!
Can anyone help?
OK so last night I tried flashing I9505XXUEMI8_I9505OXAEMI8_I9505XXUEMI8 and after I changed the kernel I got some sound when turning the volume up and down but the phone was running very slow.
Today I tried flashing Omega rom v15 flashing the right modem for the new bootloader before flashing the zip and no sound, I tried changing the kernel, still nothing.
So now I'm in build number XXUEMJ9 and baseband MJ5.
Please I've tried everything I can think of and I can't fix this, I need help! :crying:
Hi there,
I've had my Galaxy note 3 over a year now, its been a brilliant phone which has been well looked after. Yesterday all of a sudden whilst sat at the desk in work I went onto YouTube and tried to watch a video. It said playback error I thought it was just poor wi-fi connection so I tried to play some music off the phone (via mp3s i've had on there for a long time). I then got a Music playback error - Couldn't play the track that you requested. I thought ah its probably just a reboot thing so restarted the phone & still got the issue. I tried all of the media on the phone, videos, music in different formats...nothing works. I decided to boot the handset in Safe mode to see if that would help. Same problem. I had a look online for known issues & a few mentioned SD card problems. I had no SD card in my phone.
I decided to backup all of my stuff via my laptop & give it a factory reset. I really didn't want to do this but had no real choice. Anyway the problem still persists.
I am completely confused to how half an hour earlier on the desk in my office it was absolutely fine, then shortly later it stops working. I've never had a problem with it. I've tried numerous reboots since & still no luck.
The camera still works, its just no audio what so ever via headphones or through the speaker.
I also tried a few different media players too. MX player lets you pay the video....where as the standard android player freezer the handset when you try to watch a video.
At first I kept getting a SoundAlive is not working, close error.
Each time I try to make a phone call too it says "Call not sent" and the handset locks up and freezes really bad.
Does anyone have any idea what might of caused this? Literally the only thing I can think of is the fact I purchased a new battery for it 3 months back which is a none Samsung battery but would the phone really act this bizarrely all of a sudden?
I really don't wanna have to go and purchase a new phone when this was working fine yesterday & nothings happened to it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Try a factory reset first.
as mentioned above I already have done. No luck. I really cant get my head around why playing back audio and video would cause the phone to come up with errors. Its as if its a pc amd the soundcard has dust in it or drivers arnt installed.

I finally managed to download the original firmware and reflash via ODIN but unfortunatley still no luck
Its such as shame as the phone works brilliant still, the camera, charging, internet, sms, 4g works perfectly fine as usual. Its just this strange media playback problem.
Does anyone have any final suggestions?
If the mainboard was damaged, could this fault just happen to media?
Thanks for your help
Start
Test a known file on a PC or Laptop to make sure it works .
Make sure its a format that your phone can play .
Copy to phone .
Test if fails try another media player .
Does the phone ring or play system sound check settings volume .
If fails then it looks like a hardware connection problem .
Sorry for reviving this old topic but the same error occurred on my device too. Not sure what caused it.
I updated my rom and replaced battery at the same time. Tried to install stock via odin, edit audio config files, install custom audio engines but nothing helped. My every action gave the same result - no media playback and audio proccessing app crashes. Samsung phone info shows empty space under "Sound Card".
I hope this is not a hardware failure but if it is any idea how I can check that?
What model ???
Sugest factory reset then flash a new stock rom via Odin .Install nothing else and test .

As the thread title suggest my model is N9005. I reset and flashed stock via Odin already and it didn't work. I can try and do that again tho.

I was messing around trying to make my phone surround sound and flashed the wrong mixer path and mine started to do the same thing as you guys described. Restored my stock mixer path and all was good, what I'm getting at is maybe do a search do a sound mod, one that is louder then stock and try that, maybe it will change something for the good for you. I've seen ones u can flash in recovery and they also have a uninstaller zip so u can revert back to stock if it don't work.

Thanks for the help. Issue was fixed after flashing stock rom for the third time and then flashing separately bootloader and modem.
Hi all,
1. Whenever I make a call there is no ringing, no sound, and the app hangs up or crashes, call continues in the background and phone app opens again, this time with call screen rather than dialling screen, however this is unresponsive. The call then continues even after hanging up on the other end. Phone then reboots.
2. No sound on any apps. I've tried playing media stored on the device, using ringtone chooser, youtube gives a playback error and browser crashes as youtube website video is loaded. While on CM/LOS, "Audiofx has stopped" pops up on startup and on attempting playback through music app.
I ran into these problems after flashing Trader418's Official LineageOS. It may be a result of attempting to update modem to fix the common no-sim issue, which I ended up resolving with the simple libsec fix. I tried going back to Temasek's CM13 but the problem continued. After attempting various versions of both ROMs I resorted to flashing stock firmware (accidentally wiping all my data on SD card in the process (including 24GB of unbacked-up photos). To add to my dismay after that I found the phone and sound issues prevail.
Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated, I've proved my n00bness has stuck around even after 6 years of problem-less Android ROM flashing!
Cheers,

All these would indeed be useful pieces of information for anyone trying to help me!
SM-N9005 LTE N9005XXUENC2 (I don't know whether this was different before I messed around trying to fix No-Sim issue with Lineage.)
Anyone?
Bump bump bump! :silly:
Hello everybody!
Not quite sure if it fits here... If it doesn't, please move it to the correct forum.
I tried to upgrade to Oreo from a rooted phone, it got softbricked and I somehow made it work again. I'm now on OOS 5.1.3, unrooted. Ever since my phone worked again, I experience issues with jetAudio.
No matter what file I play, I hear occasional crackling and interruptions, sometimes only on one channel, sometimes on both. I didn't experience the audio issues with any other audio playing app. Clearing cache or reinstalling didn't help. I somehow get the feeling Oreo messed with permissions or something.
Any idea how I can make the app work again? Would it help to reset the device? Thanks for reading!
