If I read that correctly and you're not on wi-fi, then that's your problem. You need to be connected to the internet to authenticate your google/gmail account. Also make sure you enter your [email protected] and not just the username or it'll default to [email protected].

root
No, I was on the wifi when I try to root my Nook. It wasnt possible to sigh because it just show that There was problem with auten...

Please help somebody. Root on my Nook is still not finished...

To "unroot" properly you need to do both a Factory Reset and a Factory Restore
Factory Reset: Go into Settings -> Device Info -> Erase and Unregister
Factory Restore: Use n2T-Recovery v0.1 (Link in my signature)

My phone is now broken - thanks to RomManager

I just installed RomManager because I wanted to make a backup of my current ROM before trying to play around.
After installing it, I clicked the button to make a backup, and it told me I needed to install ClockworkMod, and I clicked Okay. So it downloaded that mod, rebooted, and now my phone is practically dead.
I mean, it works as a phone and all, but here's the problem:
WLAN stopped working
adb shell does not work
making a local session in ConnectBot doesn't work
doing *anything* in RomManager just does *nothing*
I can still use it as a "phone" to write messages and call people. But I can't do anything else now.
So I tried a factory reset.
This only made things worse.
I now cannot use the market to install apps - it just won't connect, and time out.
Internet works however.
I cannot open a shell in adb shell.
I have no idea what's going on. It feels however like rommanager removed the execution rights of all my files in the filesystem - it would at least explain why I cannot run a shell...
I need help please!!! :'(
Edit:
I just hope that when the official froyo update FINALLY comes, it fixes the problem :/
Edit2:
Okay, after using the factory reset from the settings menu instead of recovery boot mode, I can log into the market again...
WLAN still doesn't work though... so I'm back to where I was before the first factory reset.
Not that I know a lot about this, but if you can still get to download mode, I'm sure you could probably flash the phone.
Follow these instructions h**p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790686 (replace the ** with tt)
Good luck.
What if I'd like to keep the branded version?
Mainly to make sure I can upgrade to the "correct" branded froyo later using Kies :/
Or do you think the registry hack would work for that?
Edit:
i think I can live without wlan for a few days...
Either there is an update available then, officially, or I'll go to the next Drei shop and ask if they can give me the firmware files :S
or flash it for me...
Otherwise I'll have to take the risk of flashing the JPM...

[Q] Noob Question..Sorry..

Im a complete noob trying to get a hang of the smartphone rooting lingo. Believe me when i say that i know next to nothing. Ive just finally managed to root my x5 using z4root (i presume it worked...the reset was very fast...but i see that "superuser" is in the apps list now (not that i know what its for anyway.). The reason im trying to learn how to root and install roms etc is coz my x5 will not connect to my wifi and trust me, ive tried everything that has been suggested on other forums..ive tried all the basics. Im noob, but not THAT noob ok ^^. But i dont know what effects installing a custom rom might have on the wifi at this stage. I see that a custom rom can allow for wifi teethering. So im hoping that might help , sumhow. Its worth a try , before i throw the thing out the window ^^.
So basically anyway , my question is:
Ive rooted the phone (im pretty sure)....so what should i do next? and in the correct sequence, to get my phones hacked software up to spec with you guys?.
e.g ..do i install this clockworkmod thing next..and then a rom, then a kernel?...i dont know what any of these things are or what they are used for...so if anyone could give me a simple bullet pointed list of what to install and in what order...id be VERY VERY grateful =) ...its doing my head in trying to read through these tutorials and trying to figure out what everyones even talking about ^^". Dont have to get too carried away..just a simple list and the correct order will do...i will figure out the rest. (As long as you dont miss any step out of course e.g ...some app i might need to install a crucial app etc. ) Thank You!!

1) then download to your pc from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1067490 the recovery-en.zip which is the Clockwork Recovery and follow carefully the Detailed Installation from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13083454&postcount=1
2) go to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059753 and download to your pc the one it says : Complete rom with all fixes and 1.5Ghz kernel
and then follow the instructions carefully from the same post...
then hopefully you are ready....
BUT BE CAREFUL AND READ EVERYTHING AND BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE UNDERSTOOD EVERYTHING BEFORE STARTING
//and an advice from me (i'm very new also in adroid) that in every step you should check again the steps from the posts so you don't forget something...

Ok, so far ive got as far as renaming recovery.img to recovery.bak and copied the new recovery.img into the same folder. So i presume clockwork recovery is installed now?.
Next i downloaded the 100mb ,or so, rom and have copied it to the sd card. But now i dont know how to "boot to clockworkmod". Is it the same as holding volume keys and power button?...coz if it is, when i do that part it comes up with a purple screen. Otherwise.....how do i boot to clockworkmod?..or does the purple screen mean that somethings not installed right?....
Thanks again.

Volume-Up + Power button should bring you to the recovery menu.
Excellent...Volume up +.....that made a difference. thanks for that..i shall now continue the process. Thanks =)
ok next problem...in clockworkmod i go to "apply update from sdcard"..then it says these things:
Install from SDcard
-Finding update package...
-Opening update package...
-E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted.
do i need to create an "sdcard" folder in the sdcard itself...then put the zip file in it?
nevermind ...i see it Matters which sdcard u put the rom onto....looks like its gota be the external one...not the internal one...ok ...moving on.....
well its all installed now. Thanks for the tips. Although it didnt fix my wifi - wireless router connection =x....wonder what it is =x
if you have your wifi with pass check if without encryption it connects...
just to see all the possibillities...
if you continue to have problems without encryption then some compatibility is the problem...
have you checked it with other wifi?
if this happens only with your router then you can search for a more specific solution...

[Q] Failing the pattern too many times

Hello
My brother has managed to get this message on his phone, and I don't find any solution to fix it. He don't remember his gmail account, since he has 2 or 3 for some reason and. So every account i have tried gets the same error : Wrong user og password.
Is there any solutions to this, hard reset?
On my own phone I can just use SEUS and reset the phone, but it does not seems like ZTE have a similar program.
Please help!
Is it rooted?
No it's not rooted. It's totaly stock
Ahh I think I know.
Press the Emergency call button and try type this: *983*57#
It's the code for hard reset.

I've tried this, but it just says: call was not created, * 983 * 57 # is not an emergencynumber!
Bummer. The method below should work. Just make sure you put a custom ROM like Cyanogenmod on your SD Card.
I think this would work: http://android.modaco.com/content/z...-gen2-and-gen2-to-gen1-windows-flashing-only/
Please note this will wipe all the phone's data, change the partitions and upgrade the radio. There is a chance of bricking if you interrupt it midway. I did use it and it went well, it does for the majority of people.
The other alternative is go back to the retailer and try get a replacement.
If you're not 100% comfortable with that method above try go to the retailer.

[Q] New to the rooting KF question about TWRP

I rooted the KF with the burrito and the youtube video attached, I not going to flash a rom, just wanted to get the google play store and Go lanucher working. Is there a need to install TWRP? Thanks
there is no need but it is strongly recommended - it is your safety net if things go wrong ...

Yes, I agree with this 100%.
Thanks for the reply, that will be my next step. Need to look for tutorials to install TWRP.
I know it must be a stupid question but the reset to factory default option, what will happen if that is selected now that my KF is rooted?
would suggest to read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552547
also post #2 about drivers - theese are necessary for correct operation of:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
your question about factory default i can't answer - was never brave enough to try it
maybe someone other knows ?

[RESOLVED] HELP please!! Unable to unlock device locked by Google Device Manager

Please help me, Ive just locked my phone with the official Google Device Manager. I'm trying to put the right password (Im sure, I changed the password for "1111" and phone recognized it was the PIN) but it gives me "wrong password" anyway.
I have stock Android unrooted, no debug enabled.
ADB commands give me just "error: closed"
"
adb shell
su
rm /data/system/cm_gesture.key
reboot
"
how to unlock the device, I really do not want to wipe the device!!
please help me
will CWM recovery help me ASAP?
please
thank you!!
I cannot believe no one knows what to do here
will this help:
install CWM recovery and what's next?
so the BUG is "made by Samsung". Samsung just do not accept any correct PIN or password (maybe because of "wrong" keyboard).
could anyone tell me how to remove the lock without wipe?
thx
edit:
solution 1) just if you have debugging mode on then follow this solution
http://maxoberberger.net/blog/2013/08/unlock-android-device-using-adb/
solution 2) just if you can change your keyboard for another (if you are allowed when entering password)
solution 3) just if you have Samsung account, log into Samsung Dive >> "unlock" (my case)
solution 4) no debuging mode + no keyboard solution + no samsung account? >> just and only wipe through recovery or Google Device Manager
Happy now, but I was lucky
SAMSUNG BUG in 100 %

I'm stuck in this boat right now and I've been hammering at workarounds for the last week. But it seems every workaround is made exponentially harder because I do not have a rooted phone / I do not have USB Debugging already on / I do not want to just delete/reformat / I do not have a Samsung account activated. If this external keyboard solution is a confirmed solution - then I might just go buy one of these Samsung dongles to connect a keyboard to give it a shot ...
Thanks
Solution 2 did not work for me.
I was able to plug in a physical keyboard and type in my Android Device Manager password that I gave it on the web interface and it did not work. I even ran through the process using the same exact keyboard on both the web interface, then disconnecting it from my computer, connecting it to my phone, and typing. Still no good.
I am unfortunately at the point of Solution 4.

Same problem (PIN). This is so infuriating! What were the #%$#% programmers thinking?
Lock my phone is not equal to factory reset!!!
Google should be sued. There's gotta be enough ppl negatively impacted to do a class action suit. Force google to address the issue!
@jr342: What issue? The issue in this thread was apparently a Samsung snafu, back in 2014! If however you're referring to Google's Factory Reset Protection, Google will never address the issue as Factory Reset Protection is working as intended. Any lawsuit brought on the topic is likely to fail, as Google has no obligation to - and I believe can't - unlock a device where FRP has been activated.

Even This Thread Is Already Old... This May Help.
To Remove Lockscreen Using TWRP/ Philz
BOOT INTO RECOVERY.
If File Manager Is Applicable To Your Corresponding Recovery You Can Continue.
GO TO FILE MANAGER.
- Go to This Directory.
root>data> system
LOOK FOR THIS FILES.
*Locksettings.db
*Locksettings.db-shm
*Locksettings.db-wal
DELETE IT.
REBOOT.
ADB instructions- coming soon.
Had this exact same thing happen on our son's Moto X Pure. Works a charm! Thank you!
