How to determine which stock ROM is for which region? - Acer Iconia A500

Hi! All. i'm looking for stock rom for iconia a500 for Singapore. Need to unroot it & install stock rom & receive OTA updates from Acer. Can anyone tell me how to determine which stock rom is for the Singapore market? I have Acer Recovery Installer installed with ClockworkMod Recovery rev1.3.4 by thor2002ro. I did not do a backup of my stock rom previously therefore now at a lost as to how i can revert back to official rom to receive OTA updates.

oh no. you'll definitely have some bricks coming your way. Watch out.

Well, folks, don't throw any bricks at him.
@wolvie77, you are posting this question in the wrong forum. This is for Development threads. It "should" have been posted in Q&A.
Secondly, you have posted the same question in 3 different threads. A big "no-no"
Thirdly, I already answered your question as best as I could in one of your other posts.
Finally, if you root and install a custom rom, you should already know how to roll back to an original rom, before you did it. If you didn't learn this, well, call it a lesson learned.
I'll help you a little, install a com gen 1 rom. Will it be be exactly like you had before? Probably not, because you didn't write down what you had before you installed a custom rom!
However, when Acer pushes OTA's, you will be able to receive them.
To roll back to stock, read the threads, or post the question in the correct forum... Q&A. (Questions and answers). Hell, you can post it General also.

Will Unlocking + ROOTing my Nexus One prevent me from recieving future OTA updates from Google or no?
If you have a rooted G1 (reading your sig) wouldn't the answer be self explanatory?

Did you even read my question?
What does my Sig have to do with my question?
I have a Nexus One and I don't want to miss future updates, such as "Adobe Flash" which is a proprietary app and I don't want to miss out.
If you install ROMs, I assumed you would know that you cannot receive OTA updates anymore. Which I'm sure you do. I don't know personally if rooting your phone, and still using the stock system will disable you from receiving OTA updates. So I'm not of use here. Don't know why I posted here myself lol. Thanks for the harshly toned text ._.

i'm also interested in this question. i would like to root my n1, but i would also like to receive OTA updates from google. i don't plan on installing a custom ROM, just use stock and root for the purpose of wifi tether and a few other root apps. anyone?
I am wondering this as well. I installed the bacon addon from cyanogen and don't want to screw myself out of the ota updates.
Thanks.
You can't have everything people. Pick one. If you need to revert back, I wrote a tutorial.
Chances are you are going to see the updates here first. You guys should know that already unless you are one of those people that come in here, download an update and leave for a few months and recheck to see if there are any other updates.

Sorry, I'm not referring to running a custom ROM. I just want to know if i unlock and ROOT but, keep the original ROM, will I still get the OTA updates or no? So, if anyone knows, I'd gratefully appreciate it.
As far as I understand, as long as you're using the stock, signed Nexus One ROM, nothing would change that would prevent you from receiving OTA updates.
I'm not positive.
The reason custom ROMs do not get OTA updates is because they have the files for them removed, and in the case of the G1, the partition used for doing those is removed if you have the DangerSPL.
Simply rooting and keeping stock should allow you to OTA update still no problem, but like was already pointed out, the updates will be on here befor they are released OTA, and a good cooked ROM is 10times better than the stock.

Why does this matter??????????????
If you rooted, you'd get the OTA updates faster than OTA people!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a 100% stock, un-rooted N1. I didn't get the OTA update within the first day, so I did it manually anyway.
What is the point of fearing that you'll miss out on OTA updates??? With root, that should be your *LAST* concern.
BTW guaranteed you will get Flash sooner with a rooted phone than without!
These threads make no sense whatsoever.

Root, Roms and OTA Updates

Now that the slide has Root and an update, I have a question that may have been asked/answered in previous threads, forgive me in advance (I did a search and could not get an answer)...
Once rooted, will the slide still get the Froyo update?
Also if the phone has to go back for exchange/warranty, is there a way to flash it back to "Stock" as we did with the Samsung BHII?
TIA!
There is a nandroid backup of the stock rom available in the development section of the forum to revert back for warranty, not sure if froyo will goto a rooted slide, but I'm sure the devs will have a 2.2 rom out soon

Wait... There was an update?
This is the one thing keeping me from rooting.
Just back up your stock android rom before rooting so you can restore it. When you get to clockworkmod for the first time create a backup.

½anyone know where to get the RUU of the slide rom, not mixed and modified by a dev or cook?
but the origional rom or lastest version of it.
the nandroid backup will get you back to stock(ish) and if you're rooted with an aftermarket rom, you WILL NOT receive any updates from tmobile.. A couple days after release of the update, we'll have a rooted version, i can bet my right nut on it(and yes i do still have my right nut lol)
Guys... I don't play forum police or anything but the questions go in the q/a stickied thread or in general. The moderater already moved several threads like this today. Oh and when we do get an update... it will posted here after the proper mods have been made. You'll only have to wait a couple days and I'm sure that will be faster than you having to wait in line for your ota to be beamed to your handset. So go ahead and root it.. trust me! You'll be glad you did. Oh and if you get an ota... don't install it! Contact me or one of the other forum members. Or better yet post your news and we'll tell you the steps so we all can enjoy it.

Hey, another Singapore xda-er here. OTA's are usually posted on this forum, you don't really need it. If you really want the stock rom, search it in the dev forums. If you can't find it, just unroot your tablet using Gingerbreak

Ewww.... you may be hard pressed to get the exact same ROM as you were issued, if you didn't write down the build numbers before rooting and installing a custom rom.
My guess, would a Com Gen 1, or a TMPL. Both seem to be for eastern Europe, and support a few asian multiple character languages. Com Gen 1 having the most I believe.
Sorry I couldn't be of much help.

[q] rooted HC to ICS - how?

OK, I rooted my A500 towards the end of last year since it didn't seem like Acer was going to keep up with the latest Android operating systems.
I checked in here recently and saw that ICS has been released for the A500. Joy.
So, I used CWM v5.0.0.0(thor2002ro rev1.3.4) to try and flash the rooted Acer OTA ICS. I figured I'd try the original ICS before I start flashing other people's ICS roms.
All went well until the reboot. It froze on the ACER screen and would go no farther. I figured that perhaps the cache/data/dalvik didn't clear the first time so I repeated those steps. format data user reset, clear caches, clear bat stats. Reflashed rom.
Reboot.
Stuck at ACER screen again.
I searched the forums and found that I need a different bootloader? There are a bunch of threads, but I can't seem to make sense of them.
Can someone please give me a step-by-step plan to get this thing from where I'm at to ICS?
I did get my tab working again by repeating whole process but installed HC 3.2.1 Flexstriker r9.6. It booted up into the rom just fine.
I guess this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622425 - is close to what I need but it's tough to follow with all the different options and colors/fonts...
Can anyone help me down the right path?
Thanks in advance.
You can flash one of Civato's old Flexreaper roms on a HC bootloader. Since it is an ICS rom you can just update the boatloader as mentioned in the thread you linked.
I would suggest flashing Flexreaper 9 or something, his newer roms require you already have the ICS BL on. After you update the BL then just upgrade to one of his newer roms. They work very well. I've personally had no problems at all with his roms.
but....
If you want the stock Acer ICS, you have to downgrade all the way back to the old 3.x unstable rom and let it update from there. It will take a few updates, but it should get you to ICS.
Sorry, but this is a development forum not questions and answer, xda is strict about keeping things organize, please read the rules and guidelines.

Any guide on this? I need it for warranty issues (charging stops after few minutes with power light flashing white / amber) Search is not working and there is no "going back to stock" thread in the dev section sticky roll-up thread.
The thought of going back down and then upgrading back up didn't appeal to me.. So, I bit the bullet and tried to make sense of the thread I mentioned... I managed to get through it and I now have the sandwich on my tablet.
What a pain in the.......
OK... ready for the jelly bean leaks now.

I did read the rules/guidelines..
It's a question about development (or at least how to use some developed tools), so I put it here..
If it doesn't belong here, then perhaps a mod would be so kind as to move it..
At this point, the thread really could be deleted as the original query is handled.
However, tkolev has added a question.

I thought I'd jump in to make a suggestion before you get filleted like a fish. Please see this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145848. It will tell you EVERYTHING you need to know. Read, re-read if necessary; trust me, it's all in there. It's VERY well written with a tremendous amount of time spent to help all of us out.
I think the thread linked above should answer your question pretty well. Also, in future please search before posting and post questions in the Q&A forum.

like they said above....read.
however, to answer the question simply, if you want to update to stock ota after rooting, you will need to reflash stock recovery, then you can either wait for the notification to update or you can download the signed ota zip and sideload it with stock recovery. you do not need to worry about actually being rooted....this does not affect whether you can update or not. what does affect it, though, is the recovery you have installed. and in order to root, you needed to install a custom recovery. This must be revered to stock prior to updating.
