I was given a nook color and trying to root it. I have tried different sd cards, sd readers, sd adapters, software and it will not boot from the sd card. It`s running 1.4.2. Model number BNTV250. I have read for 3 days and tried everything and can`t get it to boot from the sd card for love or money.

BNRV200 = Nook Color
BNTV250 = Nook Tablet
You have a Nook Tablet, that is why it is not working.
Thank you. Sorry as a total noob when it comes to nook

I've tried searching the forums but haven't found any similar threads. I got my nook touch yesterday, and the memory card and all was running fine, however today ever since rebooting my memory card is unrecognized upon which my nook asks me to format the card. However he is unable to do so and that's basically it in a nutshell. SD-Card works fine with a different phone and on computer. Different SD-Card came up with the same issue. I even factory resetted my nook which didn't help at all, as the problem persists.
I reckon this must be a hardware problem on the nook site then. Or does anyone else have any idea as in what else I can try to do? Thanks.
Same happened with SanDisk class4 32GB. Smaller SD card works just fine and I suspected my card or type of sd card issue. Nook can't do reformatting the card correctly either. As a workaround I have formatted the sd card on Windows then put it back into Nook and use it that way. Unless I let Nook to format the sd card it works fine.

I just used Clockworkmod 16 gig to root my nook color. Now that its done I want my 32 gig class 4 card back to stock to utilize its full capacity. How do I unpartition the card. I used win32diskimg to write to the card. My windows 7 will only acknowledge that there is ~14 gigs on the card.
Please help I am a noob but I can follow directions. I'm actually also wanting to do this so I can bring my nook back to stock and then dual boot the color encase something goes wrong I can get it looked at at B&N.
Thank you all for the help. I search the forums and couldn't find a fix.
SD Formatter, free from the Sandisk website.

Newbies beware if you are formatting the sdcard with the nook..you might end up formatting the boot partition and your Nook will get into a bootloop...While it is fixable, for a newbie it is an avoidable trap.

All right. I went into clockworkmod recovery one day and I did the above mistake, I wiped the EMMC of my nook color, which had the stock OS/ROM. I had CM7 on an SD card.
I don't know whether or not the SD card is ruined, and how to fix my nook color, since it will not connect/read data through usb to any computer now. I cant even charge it like normally, It wont show the normal charging screen. if I plug it into the power adepter, it simply turns on and constntly re-boots.
I'm thinking of buying a new micro SD card and follow the instructions at the above link. will that fix my problem (if I properly set up a new card and pop it in the nook, etc.)?
if I cant fix this I might go to a website and buy one of their pre loaded recovery cards so that I can fix my nook. but I am destitute, (sadly) and I dont think I could risk that right now..
I dont have a mini SD card reader right now, so I cant test out the old 8GB SanDisk I used for CM7 (which I bought preloaded on amazon). I'm going to buy a card reader along with the new 16GB SD card, if I do decide to purchase one.
My apologies if I am sound confusing, I have some language/context issues. Thank you for any help.
After attemptindg to make a bootable sd card with CM7 and failed probably due to my inexperience I tried to reformat the card and start over again. Now my computer will sometimes recognise the card and other times not. The real problem is that the nook will not not mount the card and formatting on the nook fails every time. I have tried numerous sd cards and none will not format on the nook. As a last resort I have done the 8x's reset and now am back to the begining but it willstill not format the sd card. Any help as where to start would be greatly apperciated

You need to format the card on your PC with SDFormatter (free on the web). It formats it properly so the nook can read it and erase it if you want.

nook color will not mount sd card
Thanks-- I have downloaded the sdformat program and formatted the sd card as you indicated. When I put the card in the nook it asked to format the card. At that point I ejected the card and followed your instructions in the signature of your message. At this point I put the card
into the nook and powered it up. The nook then booted into the Barnes and Noble software. It looks as if the nook is not seeing the sd card.
any suggestions?
Steve
Just tried again. (formatting.. burning image and the cm7.2 zip file to the sd card and the nook will not boot at all with the sd card inserted.
Take out the card and it boots to the stock software.. May be a new card is needed???

You are sending me mixed issues. You said you tried to make bootable SD. It failed. Then you could not get the nook to recognize card or the PC to reliably recognize it. What I told you to do was for getting the card back as readable on the PC and nook.
Now you are trying to make it bootable again? That is a different issue. Look in my nook color tips thread at item A9 to see some issues with making a bootable SD.
And you are sure this is a Nook Color, not a Nook Tablet?

Thanks for the reply, as i said earlier I did reformat the card as per you suggestion to no avail. The PC was able to recognise the card and the nook color was not. At that point I tried to make the card bootable again hoping that the Nook would see it with the image on it. Now the nook color will not boot up at all with the card inserted but will boot normallly to stock without the sd card inserted. Sorry for any confusion. I will try and reformat the card again an and let you know wha happens. This time I will go no furthur till I hear from you folks.
Again thanks for all you do!! Steve

What you did not say in your earlier post was whether after formatting the SD and inserting in the NC and it asking if you wanted to format, was did you try to let the NC format it and was it successful? You just said you immediately removed it and followed some instructions from my signature. I have a lot of instructions there so I don't know what you did.

The sd card formatted sucessfully. at that point I inserted it into the nook and booted it up. The nook indicated that the card was inserted. Then it asked to format the sd card. When I did so the reply was formatting failed. Tried several attempts. The computer had no problem seeing the
card so i put the image on the card along with the CM encore zip file and tried it in the nook. The nook would not boot with the card inserted,
so now at this point I have formatted the card again sucsessfully using the sd formatter program. Not sure where to go from here.
thanks for all you help thus far....Steve

IAJust tried a brand new Sandisk card to no avail. The nook color notifies me of the card being inserted but that it needs to be formatted. When the format option is selected the format fails. Do you think there is something physically wrong with the sd card Reader? Is there an alternate way of getting the CM software on the. Nook color. I am openn to any suggestions. Tkank for all the assistance. Steve

May be card reader and may be your slot in the nook.
Yes there is an alternate way using ADB, but it is not simple.
You have to connect with ADB, mount the boot partition and push the RecImg and RecRam files from the burned card to the boot partition. But you have to use my bootable CWM SD to get the files. Most other CWM cards don't have them. Those two files replace the stock versions and then you can boot to CWM by holding the n key while booting. Then you can choose files to flash from internal memory.

Thanks for the idea.... but being a novice I think that that one may be over my head. I think at this point I'll just have a regular old Nook color ereader. Thanks for all your help and suggestions..I think that the Nook color has gotten the best of me. Steve

What kind of SD are you trying to read in the nook color? And by reading do you mean it cannot see files or that it will not boot the CWM SD?

Have you never heard of punctuation? Your post is almost impossible to read.
You should try to make a bootable CWM SD per the instructions in my NC Tips thread linked in my signature. It does not matter that you cannot read a file from it in the stock software. It should boot after preparing the SD per the instructions. You must power off the device, insert the prepared SD and power back on for it to boot to the SD.

i will try that to see if i can make a bootable cwm recovery and i will check if it boots into recovery
