[Q] Camera Macro mode in ICS with A500 - Acer Iconia A500

After Upgrading to Taboonay 3.0.1 ICS ROM. The Camera App lost the macro mode does anyone know if any other ICS ROM's for A500 have this.

The camera drivers on ICS seem to be faulty at best, so no ICS leak will fix that, if you need the camera, I would suggest going back to HC 3.2.1 and wait for an oficial ICS release that has a properly working camera.

I did'nt test yet the Taboonay rom. I'm on the last leak of the stock ICS rom.
The settings for the camera (not the video camera) are set on defaults: picture size - 5 Mo - Focus mode : auto.
Personally, I've never understood the interest of this "macro" mode, as long as you can approach the lens as close as you want to an object and get a reasonably good result.
For example, these 2 pics below have been taken with the camera of the ICS stock rom. (click to enlarge)

[ref]ics camera

hey semi noob here. they got camera partially working on htc desire
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416641
HOPE THIS HELPS
In the Andromadus rom darkspadez (OP) says they are working on the camera. It's a good rom if you haven't already tried it.
I'm really interested on ICS DZ ROM by Flemmard. When will be camera works?
Me Too..
Just got an update to Beta4 but still no working camera unfortunately.
When camera gets working it'll be posted EVERYWHERE Even if it is only functioning at the speed of GB camera it'll be ground breaking... When we get ICS camera, ohhh booy.....
kernel..?
Which kernel ics needs???...
i think it's kernel 3..
btw.. ics is great..

[Q] Camera issues...

Is anyone else's rear camera of poor quality? I'm on flexreaper-r5( which has been flawless for my needs) but I have tried every ICS ROM besides the actual leak because I don't like f-ing with boot loaders. But on everyone even a couple 3.2's and my camera has this constant annoying blue fuzz, anyone else experience this? Or should I go to stock and call Acer?

The ICS is from a "Beta". Need I say more, and you should have known this.
If your rear shooter is important to you, then I would suggest installing a 3.2 or 3.2.1 rom.

I understand it being beta, but I have the issue on some 3.2 roms like Thor v14 and the 3.2.1 light speed rom

If you get the same from all roms, then it is a hardware issue.
3.2, 3.2.1 roms have the same drivers,
If there is a rom that it works well, then stay with it.
It's just a junk camera like all the tablets that came out around the time the iconia did

Working ICS Cameras soon!!

http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_release...that_will_get_android_40_update-news-3974.php
WEE
my cameras working fine onmy DHD running ICS. Twisted and Lord CLoakan's great work has resulted in the stock camera now woking fine - and with future updates this can only improve....
what phone are you using?
I think that in a short time the developers will be able to find a solution for all ICS
Only the Cam on Sense 4 doesnt work, but IceColdSandwich there are no problems.

also sense 3.6 doesn't work
I'm running DHD with Ascension ROM - The only camera I can get to work is 'Pudding Cam', and that's only if I set the auto save time to 5 secs!!
you should look at switching to Ice Cold Sandwich by Lord CLoakan. The stock camera is fixed 100%
It's a great rom, gettnig better by the day....
Share is a fantastic Rom ...But compared with a ROM with Sense 3.6 or 4.0 important work the cam (I love Htc sense)
LC build doesn't have 100% working camera, there is still a lot of tearing issues but hey its ICS

Now I'm intrigued that you say this.
I have previously flashed IceColdSandwich and reverted to RCMix3D V4 because of the glitchy camera.
So on seeing your post I went over the the IceColdSandwich thread and the notes still say that the stock camera has glitches!
Camera has glitches - use aftermarket camera app and don't ask for fixes

What ROM are you using on your DHD where the stock camera works 100%?
Cheers.
Greg.
LC's latest 'test' releases have a good working camera.
HOWEVER, it's not yet 100% perfect in all situations and with all 3rd party apps.
The glitches are all but gone, but there's a couple of bugs with the rotation in the exif data (easily fixed by rotating the image manually).
The FULL working camera is almost upon us... but not yet available in any formal ROM release.
So if you need a camera that will 'work' and actually take a glitch free image... LC's latest test Rom (test 4) will be fine.
If you want a 'bells and whistles, all resolutions, all 3rd party apps' cam... wait a few more days.
Once we get kernel 3.0, all ICS issues will be solved.

Hope to see this on Sense 4.0 working

Downgrade to stock for update, or wait for JB?

I have a US Tab and I don't know if I should go down to stock for ICS update, or wait for a stable JB ROM. What is anyone else doing?
I just installed stock ics and it's great it was worth the wait.

Ok, would you prefer a JB ROM with working camera over this? And are you in the U.S.?

Looking at the quality of this release i would prefer a stock jb i still don't know wich one i will prefer i will have to try once there's a stable release before i can tell.
But matter of factly (for me at least) i can tell you this is the better rom there's out there at the moment.
And i am in México. you can check this info on if you click on more info.
Cheers!!
I have the CM10 JB installed, and besides of the cam it works just great! it's like a new tab, smoth like it should be :good: I do not need the cam, just the front cam for Skype would be nice, but not MUST...
I have not tested the ICS ROM, but with the CM10 JB you can do nothing wrong I read tests from Nexus handy and the conclusion is the same, JB runs much smoother than ICS...

Ok, well thanks for the info. I'm not sure if U.S. tabs are getting the update yet.

I'm running the same, but I like when everything works.
New asop jb have working rear cam still no front cam
Alright, thank you for the info. I still haven't gotten stock..
Personally, I won't be going back to stock. TouchWiz looks terrible compared to the stock ICS theme.
A JB back camera update was just released, just waiting on a front camera update and everything is set for me to upgrade to CM10.

Does 4.0 on the tab have TouchWiz? I know 3.x didn't. I'm going to try it, if the update ever gets pushed to me. I'm sure I'll use CM10 on mine though.
you may never see official jb. seeing that they're only supposed to support the device for 18 months...
I am running the first version of the Task ICS Rom. Still very stock, but works great. I ran the Task14 HC until then. Love it.
I prefer stock ICS to JB,because it's faster(Quadrant score 2936 compared to JB's 2544) and after all,it's from samsung.chrome doesn't work on my JB yet and FC's are frequent...

With CM10 I get Quadrant around 3500
I'm on CM10(which is really stable!) but Task is trying to port the official ICS up to JB and I think I'll probably rock that one when it's out. I just really want that front camera to work, I could give a crap about the pointless rear one.

I would say just wait some days and we well have front cam, too
I just flashed aosp jb last night and I love it. Ffffuuuuu to the camera, I don't care about it. Its pretty crappy quality anyhow. But I would say that going back to stock to get the update would b worth it. Before u flash the update, make a copy of it on your comp. Or make a backup of it AFTER uve flashed it, so ull have the update at your fingertips if u ever need it, or if u wanna use that as a base to make your own custom ics rom.
Bacon in my coffee, please? You don't have bacon?! Unacceptable!!
