New firmware XXJP2 seems to be....FROYO!!!!And it s for tomorrow 12PM!!

Tweet of SamsungFirmware annuncing it just now.We ll see if it s real for few hours.impatient to see how my SGS will work with it!!
Hope it s not a fake or a bad beta rom...

Samsung leaked that I9000XXJP2 firmware update over Kies will include Froyo, but not official. We will have to wait and see.

It will be on Keis for anyone set to the XX region. Samsung-firmwares does not have the firmware yet, that is bs. Samsung leaked the news of release today. He will download it to his phone, back it up, then reupload it to his site.

Excited to see those numbers. But wouldn't get the hope up too high. Wth all the 3rd party fixes pushing the limit, I wonder how froyo will compare.

This will be on KIES in September. He's already flashed it and posted screenshots so your talking a load of crap.

I am not trying to get any one upset, But look again mate, those pics are from Samsung he even said so. Why do you think he will not upload now if he had it. You do not know the guy do you... He is one of the reasons, Samsung blocked the server so no one can get the firmwares before they release them. He does not "release firmware" he copies them and re posts them.

I looked at the link, I don't think I saw him saying the screenshots were from Samsung. He did claim downloading the official firmware from Samsung, and is still a test firmware though.

Flash the firmware? No, but after that, you may need to root it again.

It seems that we get a TWLauncher shell wrapped around Froyo. Does this mean that we don't get the nice desktop I see on pictures of, for example, the Nexus One?

I'm confident we'll see a Froyo release as stated.
As to the origins of the firmware - who cares! It's a working Froyo build that can be pulled apart by the chefs, it may even be able to form the basis of a AOSP build.

However developers don't have the time to do this for us. Plus it is always helpful when a forum has one of these.

Prob gonna have to wait for more devs to get it I imagine. That's usually how it works. 98% of us don't have this phone yet and won't till mid to late next week. Give it a few and I'm sure it'll be here in our forum!

No need to check, surprisingly you're not the first person who read this. There have been statements about it by developers already.

True but there is another one UBLS5. which was not there before. Dont know what its worth.

No Android L update yet!

Many of us purchased this devices only because google was directly handling the software experience on the phone with assurance that the OS would always be latest that was the tagline during sales as well . Its now Jan 2015..and even 5.0.1 has been released and no update yet. We have been fooled here instead of being first in line after nexus devices to get the update , other brands have already started to push lollipop update to their phones
Of-course we could root the device and install some other rom but why sacrifice that for stability and security of the stock rom.

They have promised to give all the updates till September 2016.
Android One is directly handled by Google, so you have to wait...
Maybe by February end they'll launch the update.

my rom is based on This one, [5.1.1] [2015-05-23] [Stable] Unofficial CyanogenMod 12.1S/OS12.1 for i9300 Galaxy S3
i am going to update it for other tests from next monday (1/06/15)

some camera issues with photos or videos shoud be fixed
youtube videos issue is NOT fixed
bootanimation updated,
little more battery friendly (several updates in next version),
some useless system apps removed.
In the next version i hope that all known bugs will be fixed and both performance and battery will recive an important improvement because of the update of the kernel and several other modifications.

there were some issues with the experimental2 version and my internet was broken then there were a lot of inconveniences. From now i will paste the link for next versions here and not in private message. Flash them at your own risk and let me know how it goes.
Experimental3 should be posted here tonight or tomorrow (it depends on this damn internet connection ahahah)
