[Q] AuroraICS dataconnection problem! - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

So I have AuroraICS (version 1.11) and everything else is working nice, but no data connection. My service provider is Saunalahti which works in Elisa's network. I have data in roaming on, but nothing. I also tried to add manually Apn-settings but when I press "save" nothing happens, there's only a blank screen. So can someone please help me with this issue?

I have same problem
I have the same problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492957
I read from there, that i should:
Users in Finland on the Saunalahti network need to change a couple of settings for the sim card to load correctly.
download a terminal program such as connectbot and open a local session, then type:
su
setprop persist.opl.enabled 0
setprop persist.pnn.enabled 0
But it didn't help anything. Anyone could help? And i have six years old 'Kolumbus' Sim card, and with 2.2 it worked perfectly.
And also, i didn't flash 2.3 to my Huawei. I flashed straightly from 2.2.1 to 4.03

working now
Thanks a lot! I put these:
setprop persist.opl.enabled 0
setprop persist.pnn.enabled 0
and now it's working, saunalahti internet showed up in apn-settings.

Latest builds are better
As of version 1.10 it seems to work. Version 1.11 has yet another fix for us saunlahti users.

reply
So what is that another fix? or do i need to downgrade to 1.10?

on and off
Sorry, didn't realize you've had 1.11 already. I started with 1.9 and 3g basically wasn't working there. I've upgraded to 1.10 and it started working, pretty much. For much of this week it was running just fine and i was convinced that it was fixed, but today it was off again.
I sure miss all the network data icons 'g' 'e' '3g' 'h' from older roms. And for the record didn't need to set the APN, it got picked up automatically.

flashing new radio, now lost 2g/3g data?!

I had cm7.0.3 running ok with radio:
October 2010: Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M - HTC WWE 1.32.405.6
I followed the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896597
to flash recommended radio:
4th January 2011: Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_SF - HTC WWE 1.72.405.3 R2
I'm not sure if it was because I didn't wipe but everything since was very jerky and the device was unresponsive, therefore I reverted to an older ROM I had backed up. Now I have found that I no longer have a 2g/3g data connection, the phone just states "unknown" within my quicker app settings.
Does anyone know why I've had this problem, or better still any ideas how I can resolve?
Punch in *#*#4636#*#* into your keypad and head into Phone Information.
What info is displayed? You may need to type it all out.
Cool, thanks for this info.
Right I have followed your instructions and before I write everything out I have notice that at the bottom of the first menu (which is: Phone info) the "set preferred network type was set to "WCDMA preferred", am I right in saying I should change to "GSM only" or "GSM auto (PRL)?
Mine is set to WCDMA preferred and I get 2G/3G/H. Try it, you have nowt to lose at this point.
Ok, changing that doesn't seem to have worked. I lost regular phone signal.
Phone info for you:

neighbouring CID: no neighbouring cells

PPP received: 0 pkts, 0 bytes
Number of PPP reset since boot: 0
Set preferred network type:
WCDMA preferred
Does this help you at all? Thanks, appreciating your support.
It does a bit. GPRS service reads "Discontinued". If you had disabled data on your phone it would read "Disconnected".
What I would do is try the same SIM card in another phone. If you cannot try that you can check your APN settings.
Settings > WiFi & networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > check you have the correct settings.
I can't try the SIM card part until tomorrow.
Prior to leaving work today I did check my phones APN settings against a work mates (since he has an unrooted DHD) and they appeared correct. Both phones has two Orange UK (-orangeinternet) and Orange UK MMS (orangemms).
I removed the SIM and battery and then re-assembled.
I have been changing things and then checking, now it states the following (with regards to the list I provided you earlier):
Phone Number now appears
GPRS service now states disconnected
and the GSM disconnects still states:
=========DATA==========
State: DcInactiveState
disconnected with last try
at 12:59 AM
fail because No Error
PPP sent: 0 pkts, 0 bytes
PPP received: 0 pkts, 0 bytes
this is all with "WCDMA preferred"
I have also re-flashed with the radio that was previously in the phone (26.03.02.26), but still no data connection...
The only sure fire way to find out if its your setup is to run the 1.32 RUU and flash back to stock. If you get data then its your system / radio / RIL setup.
If you flash back to 1.32 you can be fully rooted / S-OFF / etc again in about 1 hour.
Ok, thanks for that.
Just to provide a little more detail:
I had to downgrade before rooting to CM7-RC4, then I moved to CM7-final, CM7.0.2 and then CM7.0.3 before I decided to upgrade my radio from 26.03.02.26 to 26.04.02.17.
This is when I hit my data problem.
Since then reverted to an older ROM backup and I have re-flashed different radio's to see if it would come back to life.
I have now applied the CM7.1 update (since I guessed I have nothing to lose).
Tomorrow I will try and make time to drop to 1.32 RUU.
Am I right in saying the RIL is the tie-in between the software and the radio? It sounds like this might be my problem now?
I'll need to research the procedures to do what you suggest since I'm still pretty new to all this...
Thanks again, I'll let you know how I get on.
Yes you are correct the RIL sits between the Radio and software.
An incorrect RIL could be the cause. Have you tried flashing the recommended RIL?
Ok, thanks.
I have some time now to play with this, would you happen to know if it matters which order I do this in?
radio, RIL, then ROM?
Sorry for that, I found the answer to my own post, RIL last!
I have now re-flashed radio:
Radio_12.28g.60.140f_26.05.05.27_M3
and then applied RIL (using ROM Manager):
HTC-RIL_2.2.0099HM
Still had no joy.
Ran the 1.32.exe application to return to stock (it informed me that it was changing 2.36.405.8 to 1.32.405.6) and my data has returned! My voicemail icon has returned too!
Would be ace to have these with CM7!
Any suggestions on the quickest and more reliable way to get to CM7?
1. flash newer radio
2. test vm & data connection
3. flash cm7
Just to let you know that after flashing radio vm and data still worked and then going onto cm7.0.3 my data still works - fixed! Although, I have lost my voicemail Still happy though, thanks for your suggestions.

[Q] no data connection

Hello I tried several recent roms gingerbread or ics and in every time I do not have data connection but all the rest works very well.please help.
It is very unlikely.
What ROM did you try? SD version or NAND? You mean no data connection in 3G or wifi? You can try some clean and simple ROM, ex. NexusHD2-gingerbread, or Tyween's Typhoon CM7.
I have install typhoon , nexushd2 , mwakious , haldric , always in nand with ext4 1024mo.I have no 3g or internet connection (data transfer) , possible problem apn or i don't know. my clean install : task 29 magldr 1.13 , recovery 220mo, partition sd and install rom version magldr.
I have the same problem!
Wifi is on the other hand working flawless!
someone have the response?
Restart 3G
I posted this in a similar thread. It worked for me when I lost 3G. You may also need to check and update your APN settings for your mobile network if the below does not work. Sometimes removing the sim resets it.
# Go to Wireless & networks # mobile networks # network operators # Search networks # scanning for networks # list of operators will show up # select your network# Then go to Airplane mode # tick the checkbox to on for few seconds, untick the checkbox, phone will go into short reboots, re-enters your sim password to start your phone to your mobile network.
maybe you can check your APN setting for your networks,,,???

[Q] S4 i9505 CM10.1 - wifi won't turn on, has no MAC

Hello,
To start off, I have a USCellular S4 w/ CM10.1, currently the 7/9 nightly. I am running baseband version R970VXUAMDL and have not modified the kernel.
I am unable to enable WiFi at all on CM10.1 and haven't been able to since initially flashing CM10.1.
Under the Settings menu, I am unable to enable WiFi - it's greyed out.
Under the WiFi menu, I can enable the toggle but it does nothing.
Under the Advanced menu, MAC address shows 'unavailable' and the Wi-Fi region code is set to 'Europe' and will not remember changes.

Have you tried removing the .cid.info file ?
Using a terminal app type the following:
Code:
su
rm /data/.cid.info
On some ROM's have have to do this after every time I have rebooted the phone, not quite sure why but it works for me.

Hello,
Thanks for the suggestion. I fired up Terminal Emulator, su'd, and it doesn't look like there is a .cid.info in /data/. There is a .psm.info, though, and .npswifi_stream - I don't know if they're related at all.

I dunno about EFS, but I know the IMEI is already correct - *#06* is showing the same IMEI as the label on the back of my phone.
My phone is work well after flashing CM, but no WIFI.
No /data/.cid.info file!
*#06# - show IMEI.
Did we ever get to the bottom of this?
Im having exactly the same problem, so bump. Its been like that for 6 months, my workaround so far was getting a bigger data subscribtion since 4g is working fine

Hi sylvis,
I realize that this is an old post. However. perhaps this thread will help someone else:
I flashed a Samsung Galaxy S4 (T-mobile SGH-M919) to CyanogenMod (CM11) this weekend. It worked ok for a couple days. The owner then said that they can't get any WI-FI. I found your post here and read with optimism that I might be able to fix this problem. Our problem was exactly "word for word" the same problem as you described in your original post. (Well almost exactly; we couldn't get "USA" to stick as the region code)
Before flashing the phone, I did install Philz ClockworkMod and did do a backup of the OEM ROM before flashing to CM11. That said, I found that I did not have to go down the road of restoring a missing IMEI file (as other threaders here describe). Here's what worked for me:
I dialed *#06# on the phone to see if there was an IMEI number present, and there was. I wrote down that number. So I decide to see if that number matched the printed number on the phone, that we can find under the battery.
Before I do a power off of the phone, I recall that I had turned OFF both Bluetooth and Mobile Networks. WI-FI was still turned ON, but in it's non-functional "greyed out" state like you and I both experienced.
Now I power off the phone, take off the back cover, and take out the battery to have a look at the printed IMEI number. Yes, it does march the number that I saw via *#06#.
I had to get up to do something, then returned a couple minutes later. I popped in the battery and restarted the phone. To my utter surprise, WI-FI was back up! In "Advanced" I now see the MAC address and the region is locked on USA
I turn on Mobile Networks, and WI-FI's still working. Being the fool that I am, I have to test this further. So I power off the phone again and just let it sit there for a couple minutes. I power back on and there is still JOY. Problem resolved and happy customer.
In closing: I don't think that the removal and reinsertion of the battery was the total solution, because the owner had already tried that. However, the owner did not let the phone sit with the battery removed for very long. They just popped it out, waited a couple seconds, then popped it back in. I think the total solution was having WI-FI enabled, Bluetooth and Mobile disabled, then doing a power off, with an extended wait time before reinserting the battery.
Hope that helps.

Brcobrem

New Saunalahti fix for Aurora ICS V5

First of all, big thanks to dzo for the great Aurora V5 ICS ROM!
The ROM is excellent, but as we finnish Saunalahti users know, the data connection does not work perfectly with the Saunalahti provider. Dzo made some fixes that allowed to get the connection up on boot by setting these properties:
setprop persist.opl.enabled 0
setprop persist.pnn.enabled 0
setprop persist.eons.enabled 0
That worked but still the airplane mode seems to get stuck on and the data connection will be lost until reboot if network drops to 2G or the user switches to WLAN.
I did some debugging and found out what the problem is. It seems that some Saunalahti SIM cards have problems with certain SIM card read operations. The fixes made by dzo will disable the OPL & PNN operations which caused problems but one additional problem was left. When Android tries to read the icon data from SIM card, the operation will get somehow stuck and causes the forementioned problems. The workaround is to disable the icon reading, which seemed to work very well! However, it is still unclear why these SIM operations cause problems... probably it is a bug in the proprietary Qualcomm RIL?
Here is an attached update that contains the icon loading fix. To use the fix, you need to install the update with CWM recovery and set the property (and reboot):
setprop persist.icon_loading.enabled 0
The update is made for Aurora V5 and should work with all V5 updates (tested with Aurora V5 update 20).

Verizon Anybody have Verizon Working

Hello-
Does anyone have Verizon working on their G4?
I'm in the US but cannot seem to get it to work.
I get a 3G signal and can make calls and text but cannot get 4G. It also drops out constantly saying I left the home network.
I can go into the hidden menu settings (#*#4636#*#*) and select the radio band as United States and I will get LTE. Works great but won't be able to make any phone calls or send texts as it complains the mobile service is not available.
When I change the radio band the APNs all change as well. I figured I could just edit an APN to make it all work but I don't get an option to edit or add an APN.
Thanks for any insight anyone might have.
Happy new year.
Working here, the network is crummy, but it's 4G for sure

No of course not, it works perfectly out of the box. Sounds like you got a bad phone, bad SIM, or just bad coverage.
Did you get it to work? Rumor is it works best with an already activated sim card from another phone. I put mine in and it worked instantly. I get 4g LTE in AZ with Verizon Prepaid. Just got off the phone with my sister. LTE seems to drop when making a call so if you're forcing it, it might be causing the call issues.

The reason to use an already activated sim is because verizon did not want to support phones on their network they had not tested (or sold I'm sure). My Amazon G4 worked without problems straight out of the box. I would try a different already in use SIM anyway. If it doesn't improve service, reset phone and try again. Also if the sim you have doesn't work after happening to get the phone working this way, you"ll need to use that SIM in a Verizon phone first. Then put it back in your phone.
Also, are you on stock? I had 4g LTE on stock, and LOS 14.1, but on OMNIROM 8.1 I only have 3G which could just mean it's APN issues. Maybe switch to a more configurable ROM like LOS 14.1, and edit the APN settings? Rooting Omni atm to see if I can edit those apn settings.
edit: rooted and edited the APN settings to match stock, still stuck on 3G. Not sure what to do. Putting the sim card into my other stock G4 shows LTE.
edit2: missed a bunch of apn stuff the first time around
Reverted back to rooted stock copied everything from:
(adb shell)
content query --uri content://telephony/carriers/preferapn
loaded/rooted Omnirom8.1
updated as much info in default APN to stock as possible ... back to full LTE speeds!

Magisk 15.3 rooted both stock and Omni8.1 for me. Even with root the APNs were grayed out for me too.
**Note: This is my Verizon Prepaid stock APN, yours might be slightly different if it's Verizon postpaid**

I'm back on stock as I'm about to travel and stock functions the bestt with txts/calls/and internet atm.
VZW Prepaid doesn't like this phone, and won't allow setting VoLTE on the website. On stock LTE drops for phone calls but then comes back on.
From what I can tell, Omni8.1 has 47 APNs for 311480 and they weren't bouncing around right, messages wouldn't send on some APNs, LTE only worked on certain ones, a phone call would drop LTE and it would come back on another APN at 3G (but then the messages would send) and then take 10 minutes before going back to LTE, user selected default APN would drop back to the first one the system loaded. Couldn't get it right no matter what configs I put in. the two main APN _ids for Omni are 1541 and 1551, if you want to look at what it's doing.
If you data ever drops and comes back on a ROM with multiple APNs, that content query command will tell you the current APN you're on.
I'm on vzw prepaid mvno with a retus XT1625 no problems. Live in a rural area with only vzw towers and I buy service through puppywireless.

Thanks. I figured out how to edit the apns now with the commands above but nothing is working. Still the same. I just dont understand how I can get 4g if I switch the radio band to US but then loose any phone service.
Are you on the XT1625 version? What baseband are you on?

Does the baseband get updated each time you flash a ROM?
Mine appears to be on a much higher version. Does the one your on work with android 7 and up or do you have to flash it before going to a different ROM? Sorry I've been out of the ring for a long time. Thanks for all your help.

I tried to take the Android 7 update but I forgot I was still rooted at the time, so it failed. If you have a copy of your current modem, you could try downloading my version and fastboot flash it and see if it works.
Found the link: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/recovery-images#
Although I always thought newer was better. When you do a speed test what Mbps are you getting down/up? Where I live in Mesa, AZ I average ~30down/~20up, currently around Riverside County, CA
getting ~12down/~8up.
Good luck!

So I flashed the modem using these commands:
$ fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
$ fastboot erase modemst1
$ fastboot erase modemst2
$ fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
but after rebooting the bootloader it shows the same as before. I'm on M8952_70030.25.03.64R ATHENE_RETUSA_CUST
With 3g the speeds seem like normal 3g speeds. But it cuts out all the time and so does the cell service. Now if I change the radio band to USA then 4G works and the download speed is around 30 mbps. But the cell service is not there, can't make any calls or send texts.
Just an quick suggestion to try out Lineage OS 14.1 maybe. I've noticed quite a bit better performance on VZW towers with lineage compared to the stock rom. Got full LTE/talk/text no problems on my prepaid sim ($10/mo). Stock ROM would drain my battery in 8 hours if set to Global, but lineage has no problems on Global.

What's the secret to getting service for $10/month?

That was happening to me on Omni8.1. LTE around 30 down, but no voice/text. Do you have just one APN that semi-resembles the one I posted earlier?
There's a few more stock roms here [found in a random xda thread], if you can't go back, maybe you can go forward:
https://firmware.center/firmware/Motorola/Moto G4 (Plus)/Stock/XT1625/
**no idea if they're legit or not**
I like Dogzpaw recommendation on LOS 14.1, like CM before it, it tends to be easier to customize than stock.
Also, have you check logcat and logcat radio for any clues?
adb shell, then:
logcat -d > /sdcard/logcat.txt
logcat -db radio > /sdcard/radio.txt
Recommendation: It's a lot of machine data to sort through...
kill wifi, kill data
you can clear the log buffers with:
logcat -c and logcat -b radio -c
toggle on data and wait for 3G
then repeat the original logcat commands with logcat2.txt/radio2.txt
exit the shell and adb pull them to your computer for easier analysis.
filter for lines containing: NetworkManager, NetworkController, ConnectivityManager, ConnectivityService or MotoNetwCtrlr
Might give you some idea of what's going on.
Feel free to post them, (check for personal data to redact first) I'll have some free time on Tuesday to help look at them.

at mypuppywireless I'm getting 250 min, 250 sms, and 100MB data for $10 a month.. if I ever go over (rare) then it just eats into the $10 cash balance I loaded over a year ago at a rate of $0.015/MB. Good stuff.
