So I met a guy from nVidia the other day.. - Windows 8 General

I was in a concert, and I met a guy from nVidia, the was back in November 2011, I'm late, I know.
Now I talked to him, and he told me that they were currently testing Windows 8 on nVidia processors...
And they were getting a boot up time of 25 secs at first boot, and later boots were much faster.
Just wanted to share that...

I'm in the same shipping bracket (jan 15-22). It seems people with an expected shipping date of Jan 9 finally got their Adam shipped. So, we need to wait a couple of more days?
I'm the 15-22 also and have yet to get a shipping notice

Rohan just posted unboxing photos of Adam in his blog.
Adams were shipped in 2 steps - China to HK, and HK to India. So, there is 2 tracking numbers for each unit and the 1st one (China to HK) is not share with a customer. So, I expect those people in the pre-order 1 batch will receive the long waited tracking number soon.
Got the email with TNT tracking info today ;-)
Congratulation!
I hope they ship mine (Jan 15-22) before the Chinese New Year holiday.
9th Jan pre-order here and also got shipping confirmation today!
got e-mail mine was shipped too
Most of the 15-22nd batch orders have been changed to shipping on the 29th this morning. Mine was.

Yes. Mine has changed to 29th too.
Mine, too. Jan9 to Jan15-22, now Jan 29. So, it's a shipment delayed, not pre-poned.
The February orders were preponed, ours were postponed. Possibly combining the February and late January orders

OK, time for me to post here, every post I have made on the NI blog is "awaiting moderation"
While it’s not life altering it is a bit disappointing that my shipment has been moved from the 22 to the 29th, but I’ll patiently wait. It’s looking like a pretty good piece of tech and I love my gadgets
There seems to be a lot of people on the NI blog who think this tablet is going to change their lives, I hope they are not disappointed when it arrives, after all, it is just a computer. Yeh, it’s definately the leader in its field at a great price… but it is still just a piece of tech.
My speculation for why there are delays is that NI are buying production time in a Chinese factory, so actual production days are out of their control. Surely if it was their own factory the production line would be running continuously and we wouldn’t have batch 1 / batch 2. Just my speculation and I have been wrong once once or twice in my life before.
Same here. None of my posts on the blog make it either. My last one was a my 2 cents, hurry up and wait being something im use too, just chill no need to stress since the lucky preorders while have their adams soon enough and will look back and maybe laugh. I'm just hoping it turns out all good and I will get a chance to order also. Its just tech, will all be looking for our next big toy after this one....still eye'ing a kinect.
Mine is at Lisbon at this moment, but according to TNT they cant release it yet, and only tomorrow ill be able to grab it, but since i got to work maybe only at night ill be able to post some videos of the unboxing.
24 Jan 2011 11:34:24 Lisbon Shipment Awaiting Physical Release From Customs Controlled Area.
Same here... originally the 9th. Pushed back to 15-22. Now it's showing the 29th.
It was pretty clever of Rohan to blog about orders being "pre-poned" when in reality this only applies to the February orders which was the smallest batch of the pre-orders. Based on Rohans comment in the latest blog post, it looks like the next largest number of people were in the 15-22 range and their orders have actually been delayed yet again. What a creative use of the press...

the comments on the link are not kind....
"what am I pre ordering? "
and
"Said it in jest to be honest “pre-order and find out what it is you’re pre-ordering in 8 days” isn’t a good look"
so I guess its like watching Congress push through a new law (tax) " to find out what is in it"?
I guess that early pre ordering is totally for getting those impatient loyal followers and Gen 1 guys on board first! Quite a few of us already know what we are expecting and are sold on hardware itself and don't need to wait for the software.
Of course the rest waiting for software, don't "have to" order on 21st, they can do it after 29th!
8 weeks - I take it as a time MSFT is giving to loyal followers to get spanking new handsets in hands 8 days before the converts!

AT&T Backorder

Edit: Has anyone ordered through AT&T Premier Account?
I found this thread of people having issues from the iPhone 5 launch.

Im hoping my situation turns out better then these people. Im just looking to see if anyone else's order is in my shoes. When I go search for the order using the Order ID its not found,
Has anyone received an email stating that the S4 for AT&T is on back order. I ordered late tuesdsy night (pacific time). I'm on family talk and my cousin sent me an email that he supposedly got stating the S4 was on back order. He is a talented artist with the ability to photoshop something to troll me, (hes an iPhone fanboy go figure)... Any info would be awesome...

I wouldn't put stock in that - There may be some local shortages, but Samsung is highly unlikely to pull an HTC and not be able to supply phones on time when promised. They're too big a company and too competitive to make that kind of mistake on a large scale!
EDIT: Here's more proof it will be available - http://www.gsmarena.com/galaxy_s4_expected_to_ship_10_million_units_in_first_month-news-5886.php

That's not exactly proof it will be available...first they say its EXPECTED - plus when you think about it...10 million really isn't that much when California's population alone is 38 million (313 million people in tthe US total). Now add the rest of the countries...not that much...
10 million units is only enough to supply to about 3% of the US population...and your telling us that 10 million devices expected to ship first month is proof there isn't a backorder? Now I know not everyone uses smartphones and not everyone that uses smartphones will get the sgs 4...but I'm sure way over 10 million people want to get it when its released - and there is no saying if the 10 million units will all available at the beginning of the month or will be shipped out periodically to avoid over stalking low purchase areas...
But I do hope there isn't...they did say first com first serve....so hopefully I got my preorder in time for me to actually get the April 30th ship date

I think you are understating the significance of 10 million devices sold with ONE month. That is an extreme amount of devices and if Samsung believes it will sell that, then they will produce 10 million x 1.xx for that period.
This isn't HTC and the design they are working with doesn't require "200 minutes of CNC'ing" per device. Don't worry. This is going to go smoothly.

I'm not saying that 10 million isn't a lot...but that still doesn't mean no chance of back orders...plus as I stated we don't know how they are deploying the devices...if they deploy all 10 million or 10 million through out the first month like maybe supplying 2 million or so a week...plus this is spread out through many countries...so really probably only a few million are going to the US...and this isn't just the att variant if understand, it includes all variants...so att maybe getting a million devices (if that...its probably closer to a few hundred thousand devices for att)- which is still alot - but it still leaves room for back order
-all Im trying to say is that its very possible for a backorder to occur...not saying its going to happen or that its highly likely to happen...just saying that its highly possible
Plus on atts website they did say they are selling them on a first come first serve basis...and that it is possible for delays in shipment based on that - which suggests they also believe in the possibility of a back order
Again I'm not saying 10 mil isn't a lot...but that its possible, especially when you look at the amount of countries/carriers that are going to be selling those 10 mil devices

Apologies in advance for this shameless bump. I edited my original post and added new information about ATT Premier Accounts. I know its just a phone and I should obsess over it this much, however ive been stuck using an iPhone 4 for like 2 months. I need android back asap.
I ordered mine on the 16th from AT&T Premier over the phone. Its showing processing, not back ordered.

Google CFO Admits Nexus 6 ...

... production issues. Google hasn't been financially firing on all cylinders and the Nexus 6 snafu didn't help.
Google largely exited the business of making mobile phones when it sold its Motorola unit to Lenovo Group in October. But phones still caused trouble in Google's fourth-quarter financial results.
On a conference call late Thursday, Chief Financial Officer Patrick Pichette said supply problems with the company's new Nexus 6 smartphone dented Google's revenue. The Nexus 6 went on sale in November to good reviews. But Pichette said Google had "real issues" and could not get enough phones to meet demand. In early December, Nexus 6 supplies were running out online within hours, according to Android news website Android Authority.
Google has had supply problems with Nexus phones in the past, in part because of how and why it makes the gadgets..

Very informative!

Anyone else rather disappointed at how Google handled the release?

I find it quite unprofessional to have people pre order a device in September and have them arrive 2 months later. How can you announce your best phone ever (for both companies) and be so woefully prepared for the demand it might incur? I'm having second thoughts on getting the phone since I have no idea when I might receive mine since Google and Huawei have yet to get their act together in rolling out the product
Have you tried buying any previous nexus? By far the best release yet!
Doesn't your pre-order have a date? That would be the latest you would have your unit shipped.
No, I'm OK with it.
Yep, best by far. Especially after being involved with the 4, 5 and 6 failed launches!
This is my favorite so far. No issues thus far.
Best handling it this way rather than having people refresh the page every second because product went out of stock within 2 minutes of release.(previous nexus releases)
Very happy.
Order date: Sep 29, 2015 1:05:16 PM CDT Estimated delivery date: November 10 – 12, 2015.
Phone will be delivered to me tomorrow.
Ordering process yes. However... Shipping order is jacked up AGAIN. Ordered 9/29 within 15 min of link going live. 32GB Graphite. There are people with tracking information that purchased 10/21 and have shipping confimation while mine sits in processing purgatory. Card was final charged 3 days ago. Still hasn't gone anywhere. This happens to me every year.
Almost as bad as a Best Buy launch ....
I don't mind this release style at all. I really don't see what OP concern is. Google has turned a 'quickest to order before servers crash' to 'just order and be patient, we won't charge you'

Disappointment? That would imply I had expectations which conflict with what was promised. I have no such expectations.
In the announcement event, they simply said "later in October" concerning ship dates. During the preorder process, everything was clearly spelled out. How could I be disappointed? My only expectation is that the products I ordered will arrive safely by the time they indicated.
I'm pleased with the order process this time around. As for delays well that is common on pre orders these days. I'm just happy that I got to order, much better than trying to catch a one or two minute in stock window like in the past.
Disappointed, nah. one of the biggest tech company in world can't handle preorder. How the hell do you sell out preorder? Just take the damn order and give a 4-5 weeks eta. Don't tell me you can't get huawei to make your phones in 5 weeks.
I'm rather disappointed that Germany was not a part of the countries that could preorder it first. I simply don't get it...
It's a pain yes. But it happens this way every year. I'm just surprised they haven't fixed it much over the years. I'm waiting on a Frost 64GB - No one has gotten a Frost yet, so we'll see if the ship date is hit, Nov 2.

Like previous people have mentioned. Most (if not all) of the Nexus launches were pretty terrible.
I wasn't expecting much so no .. not disappointed.
I ordered, was given an estimated ship date and it has shipped early. I call that a success.

You do realise that these were pre-orders, right? This is exactly how the concept of a pre-order works.
Dissapointed, yes. The roll out in the US might be not that bad. But there are other countries besides US. In Europe we are still waiting to preorder. Such a slow rollout. Google needs to learn from Apple and bring their **** together and roll out the devices from day one.
